i luv this little bug just bc i love mj and i LOVE LOVE LOVE hobie! i simply couldn't resist 🩷

in the story, i tried mashing together a bunch of different references for his character, while still trying to stay true to the character of mary jane watson but also not sacrificing too much of hobie brown. i hope i… did a good enough job?

☆ hobie1610 is a supermodel-in-training inspired by mj watson's dreams of being a model and an actress. except in 1610, mj has these dreams forced onto him rather than aspiring to be them. he's living mj watson's dreams and hates it lol

☆ hobie1610 has a strained relationship with his family, true to mj watson's awful family dynamics in canon. it just... runs in every mj's blood i guess lmao

☆ hobie1610 wants so badly to be an investigative journalist! his plan after graduating from visions is to land an internship at the daily bugle :)

☆ he also gets up to mechanical shenanigans in his free time, fixing and building whatever he can get his hands on. he's very handy with machines and tech, true to the original characterization of hobie brown on earth-616, except on earth-1610 he usually has to hide his tools and gadgets

☆ his favorite subjects in school are english lit and physics!

☆ i gave hobie1610 uniform locs to look like mj's signature long hair but also to directly contrast hobie138's freeform locs

☆ if hobie1610 were to ever meet hobie138, he'd seethe and mald with jealousy. just like miles, mj's biggest wish is for his family to stop stacking so much pressure on his shoulders all the time. seeing another version of him living the free anarchist life would def have him feeling a type of way

hobie meeting mj: oh wow... nearly forgot what my face looks like without m' piercings lol :p

mj meeting hobie: I'M BRITISH IN THIS DIMENSION?!

☆ but he's a hobie alright! he rebels as often as he can in the typical ways teens with strict parents do. no one is putting this guy's flame out 🔥

☆ most of that rebellion consists of sneaking out when he knows he shouldn't. his mother is strict, but she's often very busy and that gives hobie1610 many chances to slip away unnoticed. his bravery is inspired by mj's character in the spiderman ps4 game, where she gets involved in dangerous missions with peter. those gameplay scenes with her in the museum inspired the 3rd chapter of my hobie1610 story

☆ hobie1610's sense of humor is more like zendaya's mj than anyone else

☆ the concept of hobie being miles' mj didn't entirely come out of nowhere! it wasn't just abt punkflower-- the possibility came up when i remembered that andrew garfield claimed he wanted his spiderman's mj to be a man. specifically played by michael b jordan ;)

☆ hobie1610's casual wardrobe outside of visions and his photoshoots consists of mostly greens and earth tones. most mj's across various diff portrayals have green or earth tones in their casual fits

MCU Spider-Man 4 Thoughts/Theories/Predictions

I recently finished playing Insomniac Spider-Man Remastered and it got me thinking about MCU and where his story could go so I decided to make a list of some of my thoughts/theories/predictions for (hopefully) future movies for my favorite Spidey (I love all Spidey’s but this one holds a special place in my heart because he was the first Spidey I’ve ever watched)

Peter will frequent MJ’s work, he won’t talk to her much but he likes to check in on her and Ned as much as he can without coming across as a creep

From his newfound isolation also comes heavy bouts of depression so he buries himself with Spidey work

During one of these bouts he comes across some black ooze (the Sony Venom symbiote piece that got left behind) and it eagerly latches onto him feeding off all his insecurities and isolating him from others even more

MJ becomes suspicious of him, she can’t quite put her finger on it but something about him is familiar. She often finds her hand going to her broken lotus necklace when he comes by…

MJ has been having a lot of weird dreams lately, about a boy with a blurry face who makes her feel all warm and fuzzy inside

She and Ned get closer and are now BFF’s

MJ notices that Peter doesn’t come around any more, at this point she has already started putting together a red string clue board to try and piece all these weird puzzle pieces together. She’d probably talk to Ned about it at some point who’d go along with it since he too has had a weird feeling that something - or someone - is missing

MJ will also be involved with a investigative journalism program at MIT

At some point Miles is introduced, maybe as another cafe regular or something

By the end MJ pieces all the weird shards of her memories together and cues a memory montage (very Rapunzel remembering she’s the lost princess-esque)

Once MJ remembers she immediately tells Ned, Ned’s memories need a bit more jogging but soon he remembers as well and they both go searching for Symbiote Peter to try and stop him before he goes to far

Together they’re able to tear the symbiote from him

They have a tearful reunion together and destroy the symbiote (or so they thought)

This is all I have so far, if i think of anything else I’ll add it in a reblog

So. I am a fan of the "hero is romantically involved with a villain/antihero" archetype. Batman/Catwoman, for example. It's a neat exploration of character.

Catwoman helps Batman come out of his broody shell a bit and introduces a bit of gray into his morality. I like that.

But... Almost all of the time, I will not prefer that Spider-Man pairs up with Black Cat. Even though on the surface it's the same as Batman/Catwoman, there's an extreme difference. Black Cat introduces Spider-Man to a different world view, but she represents only his Spider-Man self. In order for the relationship to work, he has to give up on Peter Parker, and that's just not something he can do. But Black Cat similarly can't just be Felicia Hardy, she's just not interested in that.

Now, in a well written story, I could see them being just SUPER close friends of the sort that MJ would be a bit upset at. I think that's something the PS4 game nailed, to be honest. They have a history, but they know it won't work out. Doesn't mean that Black Cat won't enjoy flirting with Peter and throwing him off his game just a bit.

And hey, in a story where Felicia is more willing to have a normal life, I could maybe get behind it. But most of the time, her character just doesn't line up with Peter's.

Ann-Marie Jane is a directionless young adult, working a nothing office job in the city, whose life is turned upside down when she comes into possession of a techno-organic symbiote that latches onto her wrist.

On the plus side, she can transform into an armoured superhero everyone calls the Spider-Rider.

On the flip side, she’s being hunted by scientists from the super secret Osborn Collective and the mercenaries they hire, all looking to reclaim the symbiote they call PP-62. But she just calls him Pete.

Being 20-something is hard enough, but add super powers and actively having murder attempts made against you everyday, and that shit’s abysmal.
