It’s been a week since we opened sign-ups, and we’re thrilled to share that 16 ships have already been claimed! Fun fact: the geniuses and Hakuho students (Rin/Isagi, Nagi/Isagi, and Reo/Isagi) were the first to have both art and fic taken. 👏

i found some old posts on my personal blog during the weeks after korrasami became canon

it happened i was in my first year of college and having the roughest semester ever. i hadn't watched the lok finale yet bc i originally wanted to save it as something to look forward to once i finished all my exams. it was an accident that a post flailing over canon korrasami didn't get filtered through my spoiler blacklists, so i was on campus for a morning class when i found out that they were endgame. i had to pretend throughout my class that i wasn't losing my absolute goddamn mind until i could finally leave and watched the episode during my lunch break

i cannot understate how insane it was for me to witness korrasami be confirmed queer even despite nickolodeon's interference. i grew up adjacent to the original atla show (i didn't watch it when it was airing live in elementary school at the time, though i did watch everything once i was in high school), but even with the east asian and indigenous culture themes i never would have imagined that, not only one, but two women of colour would be in a relationship with each other. it was getting to the mid-2010s and the glee was still the gayest show on prime time tv—though, to be completely fair, many other shows were popping up with more explicitly queer characters. still, the idea of wlw where both characters were woc in a kid's show was unfathomable

and yet

here we are, 10 years later, with korra and asami still going strong in the comics

i cried back then after i watched the episode and read bryke's posts confirming their relationship, and i could cry all over again bc i still can't believe we have this. i know we've still got a long way to go in terms of queer bipoc representation and storytelling, but it's still insane to see how far we've come

so happy 10 year anniversary korrasami! it's time to pop the biggest bottles for staying canon 🥂🍾🥂🍾

1) You'll be there to push me up the hill • poolverine • 5.4k • Five times Logan finds out something new about Wade's friendships, and one time Wade finds out something new about his relationship with Logan. —— this is my fave fic i've written this year bc it's 100000% self-indulgent and i regret nothing aside from wishing i had it beta'd before i posted lol

2) Feel your way • poolverine • 2.7k • aka: Yet another Honda Odyssey fic lol. —— i still can't believe i wrote and posted smut for the first time in years—and it's not half bad! i feel like a lot of my smut isn't actually as hot as i want it to be 😅😑

3) tanoshii omoide • victuuri • 600+ • In interviews, and generally in public, Yuuri always says his happiest memory is landing his triple axel for the first time. —— i also can't believe this is the first victuuri fic i've ever posted publicly. yoi is the reason why i'm a weeb and i still very deeply adore this anime. perhaps one day i'll share the rest of my victuuri brainworms but who knows! certainly not me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

What have you learned?

i have dozens of wip documents of varying lengths, and even more notes of fic ideas ranging in detail from a single bullet point to "why the hell haven't i just turned this into proper sentences yet bc it's practically written!!!"

one in particular that i think about a lot is a poolverine/cabledom + x-force miscommunication leads to getting together fic

alas, i have not the knowledge nor skill to give this the attention and care it deserves 😩😔

the problem is i am not near as witty as him, nor do i have the wherewithal to actually write how brutal he truly is sometimes, nor am i acquainted with pop culture enough so he can break the fourth wall effectively

which now sounds like i shouldn't be writing him at all but WHATEVER! IDC!!!

writing logan is hard for a simple reason: i'm not like him

my biggest self-critique is that it just seems like i gave logan adhd

his internal monologue is filled with run-on sentences when it really shouldn't be

and then his actual dialogue is just.

constant grunting.

lmfao.

i do understand and relate to him in some ways, but there's also a reason why i haven't really gotten into him as a character despite being adjacent to the x-men franchise for most of my life

he's a complex dude and i'm honestly just grateful i haven't received flames yet (omg i'm in old fart) for not writing him with the care he deserves
