Man, we have got to stop treating art like it has an expiration date. That show stopped airing? Doesn’t mean it can’t haunt your every waking thought. Everybody’s into this album, but you don’t have the energy for new music right now? It’ll be waiting for you when you’re ready. That movie’s fifty years old and indie as shit? Incredible, you have the chance to share it with folks who might never otherwise feel that particular punch of delight. Books don’t go bad. Shows inspire fandoms decades after they’ve wrapped up. We’re still looking at cave paintings and statue work from ancient times and letting the joy of creation bring tears to our eyes. That’s the point of art. It’s as close to immortality as we ever get. Why try to give that magic a shelf life?

Lots of sad fics about MC inevitably getting older and dying, but consider this; accidental immortality? I’d like to imagine everyone getting stressed and worried because they know you’ll die in less than 100 years, and we all know how demons don’t really notice the passage of time in the same way that humans do, and it cracks me up to imagine the boys celebrating your 50th birthday to only just realise you’ve not aged a day since they met? satan peering at you in a perplexed way from across the dinner table as you reach forward with a perfectly youthful hand to cut the cake for everyone, for him to just reach out and grab your hand, inspecting it for signs of aging as mammon grumbles in the back about “hey, whaddya think ya doin’, chump? Ya ain’t their number one-“ to have him wave a hand to indicate silence as he looks at you with a harrowing gaze. “You’re 50, right? Shouldn’t you.. look…different?” His punctuated confusion just sets off a bomb in everyone else’s heads as they realise that truly, their darling mc hasn’t aged a day? How could anyone have not noticed? Cackling tbh

I understand why some people might view Zhen Huan's ending as bleak, but in my opinion "bittersweet" is better word for it. Zhen Huan can never recover all the beloved people she lost over the course of the show, but she was able to avenge herself against Yongzheng and Yixiu, safeguard her children, and ultimately become the Empress Dowager. Now she gets to watch her son live a carefree life, has ensured the continuation of Yunli's line, and is able to hang out with her friends (and her sister, Yurao is still alive) and just focus on raising her kids and enjoying her status. The last we see of Zhen Huan is taking a nap, a representation of the the fact she can finally rest after the tumultuous life she has led so far. This is how we leave Zhen Huan for the last time - with the comforting notion she has finally found some peace. And this is how I'd like to imagine Zhen Huan's future life as looking like.
(Also Hongyan is living at Yunli's former residence Ninghui Hall, and the "Coupling Joy" flowers that originally were gifted to Yunli by Kangxi were moved to their original place there too)

The fact that I finished aoyaom in July of last year, hit 450 (public) bookmarks on it in September, and then just now hit 800 (public) bookmarks is blowing my mind. Like. Wow thank you! What’s going on! (And almost at 1500 total bookmarks to boot???)

Dad Wiesław, 87 years old, full of health and joy for life, drives a car, picks mushrooms, 'hunts' with binoculars, but what he loves most is reading good fantasy. As he says, the secret to his vitality is the love for his children and staying in good contact with them.

Honestly, I made that joke about Van’s ancient desktop, but it probably works better than new computers. And it made me think: god, Van must HATE planned obsolescence. Stuff that’s built to die? Stuff that’s built to fall apart in a matter of years just to force you to buy more? For a person whose whole deal is gripping tight to the past, to old technology that still works perfectly fine, to the idea of survival threaded through everything from the stories she tells to the machines she rents out? Yeah, dude. No wonder she hates her cell phone. Not only does it force the illusion of connection without actually granting intimacy, but it’s doomed from the minute you take the thing out of the box. For Van, the very idea has got to be offensive.

truly so baffling to me to hear people complain about their electronics like my coworker was complaining that her 2017 Mac was so slow its barely functional and it’s like what do you MEAN your 8 year old Mac is dead? mine is from 2013 and runs flawlessly?? what are you doing to your $1000 machine ??? filling it with peanut butter and TikTok viruses?????
#and I’m fairly callous with mine. I’ll download anything. (although I am a tech guy so like I can think critically but#I do tend to download a bunch of random shit from like Reddit threads and forums lol) and yet my Mac is like practically mint.#his only crime is sometimes he dies at 20% and gets hot and can’t run 32bit programs (<apple’s fault)#he’s still running max graphics stardew valley with 900 mods and Minecraft mid graphics with 200 and like 30fps (<good for modded mc)#Apple truly making solid products considering every midrange windows pc I’ve used became garbage in like 4-5 years 🫥#ive spent more on my 4 windows PCs in the last 20 years than this one Mac that will probably keep trucking for another 10 years.#Like sorry im not an apple freak but considering how many devices I’ve bought used and fiddled with…… kind of incredible how Apple has#somehow managed to come out on top in the longevity/ease of use/privacy departments.#if windows didn’t force you to update and use their bloatware bullshit and not let you CONTROL THE MACHINE YOU BOUGHT id be less mad#but every time I use win 10 or 11 I want to shoot myself in the head. win1011 softwares practically feel like malware.#a day in the life of steeve#only reason I would ever have a windows device is to play sims 2. (works on Mac but no utilities which are indispensable these days).#and I’m thankful Emily has a top tier gaming laptop for me to use for sims <3#if I ever need another pc I think I’ll venture into Linux. my steam deck runs Linux and it feel so pleasant and friendly compared to win11.

Movement is life proper movement is active longevity by Gusyev Valentyn in Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences
The increase in human life expectancy is usually attributed to the achievements of medicine. At the same time, it is not mentioned that Peter 1 fought with 300-year-old elders, that age in those days was measured in circles at 145 years. Gerontology even today says that the resource of the heart is determined by 300 years, and the liver by 600 years. Medicine is also silent about the fact that in the part by which life expectancy has increased, most people are no longer able to work, they cannot move independently. But it is precisely the movement, the work of the venous-muscular pumps of the legs that maintains blood circulation in the system of small and large blood circulation in the human body. Our alleged monkey ancestors do not have such a pump. Their life expectancy is limited to only tens of years. They can't even think like humans. After all, brain cells develop from muscles tired during the day, 80% of which are leg muscles. The activity of people in recent years has decreased by 200 times. Previously, a rural worker walked 17 kilometers a day, but today it is less than a kilometer. It is obvious that the mental abilities of people who lived in previous centuries were higher. Modern scientists cannot explain how people used to build pyramids, underground cities, process stone, create statues and flying machines. Today we have come to a situation where people, like robots, are taught to perform only certain actions. The doctor sells drugs and does not suspect that diseases arise due to poor nutrition and the removal of cell decay products. What are the skeletal muscles responsible for these processes, the work of which is limited by improperly made shoes, leading to deformations in the system of the most powerful leg pumps. These are the gastrocnemius and soleus muscles, which reduce their activity with improper walking. Stores sell over 90% of improperly made shoes. The fulcrum in which the position of the thumb does not correspond to the reference points of the skeleton (1-2-3).
But medicine does not pay attention to this, because it is engaged in business. In the first place in terms of mortality are violations of arterial blood flow. This is ischemia of the heart, lower extremities and the naked brain. But no one sees that the cause is a violation of the outflow of venous blood - the biomechanics of walking. Violation of the sequence of muscle contraction also leads to overload of the central nervous system, which began to be noted as chronic fatigue syndrome.
The process of walking upright, maintaining a stable position of the body is carried out according to the addition of inherent, unconditioned reflexes independent of our desires. Therefore, a violation of walking in the case of deformities of the feet leads to a change in the position of the bones in all the higher lying joints of the skeleton and a violation of the contractile pumping function of the muscles. The body perceives changes in walking for a dance, which leads to overloads of the Central Nervous System. You just stood on your heel, and the signal from the mechanoreceptors under your fingers says you are already pushing, jumping.
All the knowledge of the world cannot make a person a doctor of a self-regulating organism. Therefore, not to treat, but to restore the pumping function of the musculoskeletal frame of the body should be the primary task of the body's therapy. But how can a specialist of a narrow profile understand this, who was taught the wrong way and for whom everything new is incomprehensible and frightening.
