Here’s the thing. I’ve spent a lot of my life trying to eat right and exercise and meditate and do everything right. But that’s not what life’s about. Life’s about living and enjoying and crying and laughing and screaming and eating and being messy and doing all the things and laying on the couch and experiencing things. Good and bad. It has nothing to do with doing things that feel like chores. Do what feels good for you. Always. And fuck everyone else.

went to the cinema the other day. before the film started there was an advert for a new phone from google, and the advert was talking about how the phone uses artificial intelligence to improve pictures. select from a range of photos to choose the most flattering headshot for each person and combine them into a perfect photo. make it look like you jumped higher than you did or played with your baby more enthusiastically. improve the film you took of your friend's engagement by removing the wind sounds.

i found it really scary, actually. in that advert life wasn't to be lived, it was to be photographed and sanitised and perfected and posted for consumption.

But seriously, look at those colors! This little puppy will be influencing my painting for weeks, I can already tell.

I’m working on finding beauty in life. Today’s beauty was that driving to work there was a gorgeous older black women driving the other way and her skin was glowing and rich in color and her hair had been so meticulously styled into a voluminous afro. She was truly beautiful and I only saw her for three seconds but still.

Your 20s are meant to be a Petri dish for your mistakes to learn from in later life. So make them and you'll never truly regret a mistake you made, because without the mistakes you wouldn't be who you are are what you have experienced. Don't take a second to think about the you that didn't make those mistakes, because that person isn't the you that has come to pass.

Who you are, right here, right now, whatever you're going through, is categorically the best and worst of you that will ever be right now. So take hold of it, fuck it up, enrich it, do anything that is truly you doing something, and every time you do that, you gain an extra piece of yourself that can never be taken away.

Life is for living, not for thinking away.

I think Shay (and her fellow Hellers) is just desperate to be a member of something, anything. She needs to stop looking for validation from random people on the internet and get out into the world and make some real friends, then maybe she'd grow up.

You hit the nail on the head, anon! I think Shay and other hellers alike, get stuck in their online world. They forget that there's so much more out there to do and see. And if you can make IRL friends along the way? All the better!

And if there's someone reading this who says they can't find anyone who shares their interests, I encourage them to sign up for their community facebook page, or check their local library. Why, in just my small town, we have everything from horseback riding to sword fighting, aerial classes and self-defense training. You can meet with artists, or athletes. If that's not your thing, join a group of gardeners or historians. There are so many options! Just get out from behind the computer and live!

(Yes, I know that sounds hypocritical from someone currently sitting behind the computer, but in all fairness, I am at work right now! LOL!)

This life

Is fucking sad.

I talked to a boy and he told me

I’m gonna skate competitively again!

But I have school and football and I have to work enough to support my whole family too

I talked to my coworker and she told me

I’m not a shift leader anymore! I don’t have to work so much!

But my family really relies on me and my mother is sick and so I still do

People are dying or being abused in another country and we didn’t do anything to help

We left them

Disease is spreading through the world and we have a vaccine to help

But we don’t share it with the world, we don’t even all take it ourselves

People are starving to death in other countries, in our own

And we do nothing

People have to overwork to survive, and it’s still not enough

Too many of us are suffering

This is not life

Life is for living

And so many of us are dying

In more ways than one
