Every now and then I crave an escape from the crowded city streets and I let myself get lost in the narrow, hidden alleyways. I love wandering through unfamiliar places until I stumble upon a cozy, quiet cafe, where I can sit with a warm cup of coffee and maybe a little dessert. ☕🍰
In these tucked -away spots I can pause from the daily routine, savore the peaceful atmospher and let my thoughts drift.
It's a little gift to myself a moment to recharge, daydream and remember the beauty of slowing down and enjoing the simple things.

There’s no such thing as work-life balance for neurodivergent & chronically ill people.
This is because everything in my life requires work:
maintaining friendships
keeping up with my hygiene
managing bills
making money
remembering my basic needs
sleeping regularly
outputting creatively
All requires some aspect of work for me.
And when everything in your life requires work, your balance goes out the window.
If you're neurodivergent and overwhelmed — I see you.
If you're chronically ill and overwhelmed — I see you.
You're not dysfunctional.
You're not incapable.
You're doing your best.

Achieve Balance in Life for Lasting Happiness
“Happiness is not a matter of intensity but of balance and order and rhythm and harmony.” Thomas Merton Finding peace and harmony in life is essential, and it comes from many aspects of how we live. In relationships, it’s about ensuring that both people feel respected and heard, without one person being overwhelmed or neglected. When we create a healthy flow of give-and-take, both sides can…

Start planning 2025
Make a list of all the emotions you want to feel at the end of 2025.
Now work backwards and write down all the tasks you need to do in order to feel that way.
Make a separate list of all the “gaps” - what do you currently not have in order to do those tasks to make you feel the way you want?
And lastly, write down how you can fill those gaps. Do you need a gym membership to become fit to feel good about your yourself? Do you need to learn how to cook better meals in order to feel healthy and energised? Do you need to start applying to jobs, in order to secure one, in order to feel financially safe? Do you need to buy an old school alarm clock that’s going to wake up your entire apartment building in order to wake up early? what do you need to DO?
also, make a list of all the things that worked out for you in 2024. Learn to celebrate and appreciate, even the smallest of wins.
For the next two months start the trial and error process of this program. Let’s say you decide that you want to work out 7 days a week in order to feel good about your body. Now halfway through November you realise that 7 days is probably too much, and 5 days would be better for your schedule. Or you decide to read 3 books a week, but realistically, maybe a chapter a day is better.
November and December are your trial months. By the time January starts, be ready with a program that is built for you, works for you, and can be completed by you.
Don’t forget about keeping a reward mechanism. If you complete your daily tasks for 1 month straight, buy that little purse you were eyeing, or take yourself to a spa. Reward yourself in ways you like so that :
a) you’re not in an endless cycle of never being satisfied
b) you don’t drop everything for a man or a friend who shows you the slightest bit of affection because you won’t show it to yourself
c) it encourages you to work harder for yourself.

legitimately though nothing will be funnier than being on tumblr in 2017 when my mutuals were posting about taz balance, specifically during the reunion tour/stolen century/story&song era, and hearing everyone talk about "lup this" and "lup that." then a year later i start listening to taz balance and i'm like "wow i'm so excited to meet this lup character everyone loves so much :)" and then the story starts and i'm like "wow this is so fun i wonder when lup will show up :)"

"In Jamil's dream, Kalim won't exist. "In Jamil's dream, HE'LL be housewarden and Kalim will be his servant." Actually I think he's too codependent for all that, maybe he just wants a break and a fruity drink and then he'll be right back on his grind. That's my theory, anyway.

Finding Balance: The Key to a Fulfilling Life
Shaina Tranquilino
September 22, 2023

It can often feel like we are constantly juggling multiple responsibilities and obligations. From work deadlines to family commitments, personal goals to social engagements, our lives can become overwhelming and imbalanced. In this blog post, we will explore the importance of finding balance in our lives and how it can lead to a more fulfilling and meaningful existence.
What is Balance?
Balance is a state of equilibrium where different aspects of our lives coexist harmoniously. It involves giving adequate attention and time to various areas such as work, relationships, health, personal growth, hobbies, and relaxation. When these elements are out of sync or neglected, it can result in stress, burnout, unhappiness, and a general sense of dissatisfaction.
Why is Balance Important?
1. Mental Health: Maintaining balance helps us manage stress effectively and prevent mental health issues such as anxiety and depression. When we prioritize self-care activities like exercise, mindfulness practices, or spending time with loved ones, we nourish our minds and build resilience against life's challenges.
2. Physical Well-being: Neglecting physical health due to an imbalanced lifestyle can lead to poor sleep patterns, unhealthy eating habits, lack of exercise, and other detrimental effects on our bodies. Striving for balance allows us to make healthier choices in terms of nutrition, regular exercise routines, sufficient rest periods, and overall wellness practices.
3. Relationships: Our connections with others play a vital role in our happiness and well-being. Balancing professional commitments with quality time spent with family and friends strengthens these relationships. Nurturing bonds through effective communication and making time for shared experiences creates deeper connections that enrich our lives.
4. Productivity & Success: Contrary to popular belief, overworking does not necessarily equate to success. By finding balance between work-related tasks and personal interests or hobbies outside of the workplace, we can recharge our creativity and energy levels. This, in turn, enhances productivity and ultimately leads to a more successful and fulfilling professional life.
How to Achieve Balance?
1. Prioritize: Identify your core values and what truly matters to you. Evaluate how much time and effort you are devoting to each area of your life. Make adjustments by prioritizing activities that align with your values and eliminate or delegate non-essential tasks.
2. Set Boundaries: Learn to say no when necessary. Establish boundaries between work and personal life, ensuring that you have dedicated time for relaxation, hobbies, and self-care activities.
3. Practice Self-Care: Take care of yourself physically, mentally, and emotionally. Engage in activities that bring you joy, reduce stress, and promote well-being such as exercise, meditation, reading, or pursuing creative endeavors.
4. Seek Support: Don't hesitate to ask for help or delegate tasks when feeling overwhelmed. Reach out to family, friends, or professionals who can offer support or guidance during challenging times.
5. Embrace Flexibility: Recognize that balance is not a static state but an ongoing process that requires adjustment as circumstances change. Be open to adapting your routines or priorities based on new challenges or opportunities that arise.
Finding balance in our lives is essential for overall happiness and fulfillment. By consciously striving for equilibrium across different areas of our lives - be it work, relationships, health, or personal growth - we create space for growth, contentment, and greater satisfaction. So let's take a step back from the chaos of daily life and embark on a journey towards achieving balance – one that will undoubtedly lead us towards a more purposeful existence.

"A group of 200 UK businesses and charities have signed a pledge that company work weeks will be shortened to 4 days without a loss in pay
Including marketing and advertisement; tech, it, and software; and charity groups as well, the companies employ more than 5,000 people.
Organized by the 4 Day Week Foundation, it follows something less than a trend but more than a fad in which a mixture of employees and executives believe that a happier, more balanced workforce is key to driving productivity.
That balance, they would argue, can be achieved by far more people through the reduction of the 5-day work week to a 4-day one.
“[With] 50% more free time, a four-day week gives people the freedom to live happier, more fulfilling lives,” Joe Royle, the foundation’s campaign director, told the Guardian.
“As hundreds of British companies and one local council have already shown, a four-day week with no loss of pay can be a win-win for both workers and employers.”
This sentiment isn’t shared by all workplaces, but market competition should demonstrate over time whether or not firms that implement unorthodox work hours are in fact as productive or more so than traditional ones.
Economics says that with all else being equal, if enjoying more free time leads to greater employee retention and motivation, then these 4-day work week firms will begin to out-complete the old ones, which in turn will be forced to adapt or risk losing market share.
London firms have been the most enthusiastic, with 59% of the 200 workplaces being located in the capital. With so many firms for talented workers to choose from, it’s no wonder that some are looking to seek advantage in attracting this talent through more desirable working terms.
Last year, GNN reported extensively on a report that was released by a county government in Washington called San Juan, detailing their one-year experiment with a 32-hour, or 4-day work week. In the report, quitting and retiring decreased by 48%, while 55% of employees said their workflow wasn’t interrupted even though they lost an entire working day’s worth of time to complete it.
Even in the famously hard-working nation of Japan, a 4-day workweek seems to strengthen productivity."
