the difference between Tarn and Starborn's violence being mainly others vs self is something i will go into detail about, but i also want to note something else that's more minor.

Starborn has a very strict moral code about not killing anyone (that isn't himself).

Tarn may play with his victims but he still kills them at the end of it, Starborn does not. Starry hasn't ever gone to the absolute extremes of what he's considered, but he's not above sick violence. he's left scars on others.

he's the son of life itself and the planet that birthed cancer, after all.
