I know these people who votes for one thing while ignoring everything else is called something, but I can't remember what they're called.
One policy voter? Single issue voter?
Anyway, I have zero sympathy for people who got their faces eaten by the face eating leopards party if they voted for them.

They want leopards to eat people's faces. They insist that society would fall apart if leopards stopped eating people's faces. They then complain when leopards eat their face, because the leopards were supposed to only eat other people's faces.
Narcissistic leopards don't care whose faces it's socially acceptable to eat. They'll just eat anyone's face.
And when a narcissistic leopard eats someone's face, society acts like the problem is narcissism while still supporting non-narcissistic leopards eating people's faces.

It's a shame that it would look bad for biden to take advantage of his newfound legal immunity to arrest and imprison his political rivals on charges of bribery and corruption. Really ram home the dangers of allowing an elected civil servant to behave like a tyrant.

Seeing a lot of takes decrying the greater number of responses to the OTW’s AI misstep vs OTW racism.
Seems to me they’re parts of the same whole. The problem with AI as currently deployed is that it is being approached from an entirely extractive, appropriative mindset — the same Western philosophy of “if it’s there, it’s for our exploitation” that’s fuelled colonialism and racism for centuries.

"This ad makes any LGBT person supporting Desantis look like an absolute idiot." No, trust me, any LGBT person supporting Desantis or any Republican absolutely does not need help with that.

if you're a white person taking pleasure in the idea that Trump voters of colour are experiencing racist violence from white trumpers because "they got what's coming to them" I don't think you're anti-racist at all, I think you were just waiting for an acceptable target, and you're also fucking weird.
Bad Person Deserves Punishment For Their Sins give me a fucking break and get yourself out of the fucking catholic church. you're all prison abolitionists until you see someone you don't like.

"I used to be able to afford the cost of living. What happened?"
It's actually quite simple. Rich people ideally would have everything while everyone else has nothing. But if they did that, society would riot.
So they instead tried to get as close as possible to that ideal without causing people to riot. They made sure most people could afford the cost of living. A few people couldn't, but those people were easily dismissed as being lazy or making bad decisions.
Then, rich people slowly got greedier. They carefully experimented with increasing their greed and seeing how much they can get away with. The number of people who struggle to pay their bills slowly increased. And eventually, the people who struggle to pay their bills began including you.

Weight loss is a completely morally neutral personal choice that anyone can make for any reason, but if you choose to lose weight because you hate your fat body, please do the internal work to get over that internalized fatphobia before or during your weight loss efforts. I’ve seen far too many fat people become skinny and immediately turn their internalized fatphobia outwards, and it’s a bad time for everyone. If you have to keep the weight off through a strictly maintained diet and exercise, it’s pretty much inevitable that you will gain some weight back at some point in your life (likely more than you had in the first place if yo-yo dieting is in play), and you will find that all the hatred you projected at the fat community will come back to bite you in the ass with twice the power. Work on loving your fat self while you’re there, and if you choose to lose weight then work on continuing to love your old fat self. Life will feel much better for yourself and the fat people around you that way.

the most superficial perspective on the small council scene is that alicent is coming to terms with the realization that the leopards will eat her face as well, and she is being denied power for being a woman just as rhaenyra has been...
but i do think there's a more interesting series of realizations going on. season 1 went to great lengths to show us that alicent's motive for usurping rhaenyra was not rooted in the belief that women are not fit to rule. she is a capable political actor herself and she advocated for rhaenyra to be queen when she was younger at the expense of her own standing. even her conversation with rhaenys at the end of the season suggested a resignation to the way of the world rather than a judgment on women's deficiencies.
alicent had other reasons for wanting to supplant rhaenyra: daemon, whom she saw as a complete wildcard, would have been dangerously close to the throne if rhaenyra did assume power, and she believed that she and otto could guide aegon to rule fairly under their experienced counsel. however, in this episode, the small council she presided over as a competent administrator for years rejected her proposition to rule and chose in her place: her dangerous, unstable son who has already proven resistant to guidance and quite literally triggered the war. over her! because a woman could not be allowed to reign when another woman was usurped for being one.
this is not to say that alicent lacked the awareness on a more detached level that rhaenyra's womanhood was the pretext used to usurp her, but this makes it much more visceral. the people who facilitated aegon's ascension were not motivated by the things she was. in conjunction with her discovery that the prophecy was not about aegon ii -- the prophecy that would have attached some divine purpose to all of her pain, allowed her suffering to mean something -- alicent is really beginning to question why she is doing any of this at all.
