to expect you to show up, like i did for you to reciprocate care, not just fuck someone new one last kiss in the dark, and you left me behind

maybe i was too needy and liked it too rough you said i was too much, and yet still not enough

and even now, i still miss you. still hurt.

i would have been yours. you left me on read. forgive me. i thought that you'd do what you said.

and sure, i could try, I could write something new but i don't see why i'd waste effort on you

tl;dr - i know perfectly well that they're making time for other people and have bandwidth, and they're actively choosing to prioritise other people... but i can't change that, so they can make their dumb decisions and be wrong about me and that's their problem, because i'm fucking fantastic.

hm. actually. maybe none of what i asked for or expected was unreasonable. maybe they're just a selfish prick.

i've shown up for them - i helped them pack to move, i showed up for both their birthday things since we started seeing each other, i came up to their city to visit them, i've gone to their standup and been one of four paying attendees in the room...

... and they forgot my birthday, didn't make any effort to see me over the summer, we barely talked because they didn't initiate conversation, and when i was last in their city they cancelled our planned hangout without apologising, and when i said i was upset and asked if they could reschedule they punished me by cancelling all our other plans that had been made 3 weeks previously.

it still stings a bit hearing them bitch on their podcast/in their standup/on their insta about being chronically single. like, bitch, i wanted to be that person for you! and you knew damn well i would have been that person in a heartbeat! and you pushed me away, over and over, or you let me show up for you and then couldn't be bothered to show up for me.

i still care about them, i still think of them, i still want them and miss them and all of those things, but. idk. maybe i'm tired of being the lovesick puppy and the organised butch and the service dog. maybe i deserve someone who recognises and appreciates and reciprocates my efforts.

(it still irritates me that they joked about me being a size queen when they've never - not once - bottomed for me. i may be a terrible human being, i may be flawed and imperfect, but i'm not a hypocrite, and i don't dish out what i can't take.)
