Trektober prompt day 3: Promotion
The only thing my brain liked for this prompt was McCoy always being unceremoniously promoted to anything other than a doctor. Here he is being promoted to babysitter😌
“I don’t get it, if you say I’m the captain then why can’t I take the ship to warp!” Kirk pouted.
“Jim, you’re a child. And we can’t let a child wield a starship.” McCoy said as patiently as he could.
“If you claim we used to be adults, then how do you know Kirk has not retained his memories of how to be a Captain? He could take the ship to warp if he chooses.” Spock said folding his little arms defiantly in an attempt to help Kirk.
“Don’t you be helping him. I’m a Doctor, not a babysitter, I have to figure out what happened here and you two aren’t helping.”

Fic: Tomorrows Circus 🎪🎡🎠🔥
‘McCoy blew out a heavy breath, picking up a ladle that was resting on the stainless steel poles that held the pot of whatever he was cooking and pointed it at them in turn. “You two are in mighty fine trouble.”’

Trektober prompt day 12: shore leave
Personal Log, Commander Spock, Stardate 5323.5
The Enterprise remains in orbit around the deep space station K-7. We are here for Shore leave which is both a necessity and a matter of regulation following our most recent mission where we sustained the loss of three crew members.
I found it curious that Captain Kirk, typically averse to shore leave, had elected to take leave with the rest of the crew. I had anticipated his usual resistance, but this time, he went without argument.
Perhaps, even he recognized the need for rest following our harrowing mission.
However, after a few hours a matter arose that required the Captain’s attention aboard the ship. Trying and failing to contact him via his communicator his absence became concerning. Captain Kirk does not disregard hails from the Enterprise without cause.
A brief search helped me locate the Captain aboard the station in a dimly lit drinking establishment unusually void of other patrons.
He was seated at the bar, a decanter of green liquid and glasses before him. He did not notice my approach, or if he did, he gave no indication. His posture was hunched…pained. It was not difficult to surmise the cause. The deaths of crew members always weighed heavily upon him.
I approached with measured steps, taking care not to startle him. “Captain—”
“Spock,” he cut me off with a raised hand, “either sit down and join me quietly… or go back to the ship. Those are your options.”
His tone was soft, but firm. It was the voice of a man who was attempting to reconcile the losses of those who had served under his command.
Faced with this uncharacteristic demand, I found myself momentarily uncertain of how to proceed. Logic dictated that I should return to the ship and attempt to resolve the issue myself… but my understanding of James T. Kirk suggested that a different course of action might be warranted.
I seated myself on the stool beside him and we did not speak. I will not speculate further on what Kirk may have needed in that moment—whether it was the company of a trusted officer or simply the presence of another living being to keep the darkness at bay. But I do know this: I was determined to remain by his side.
End log.

Trektober prompt day 2: Nebula
“I had mind-melded with James T. Kirk on several instances over his lifetime. His light still burns. He lurks in the recesses of my mind.
Sometimes, I try to focus on him, to try to determine where he is. I do not believe he knows, but I can sense his emotional state. Wherever he is, he is happy.
I do not believe in an afterlife, but I will let my human half indulge in some wishful thinking.
He will return.” — Spock’s afterword in Jim’s autobiography

Trektober prompt day 8: Away Mission
Kirk heard a sudden splash from behind him.
“Spock? What happened?” he asked quickly coming over to the water where Spock had slipped.
“Captain, you broke away from the rest of the landing party, It is my duty to follow you to make sure you remain unharmed.”
“ That may be, but who’s the one who slipped?”

Trektober prompt day 4: First contact
“Spock… What is it?”
“Nothing I can identify. Whatever it is, it seems to like you, Captain.”
“Yes, I rather agree. But is it intelligent?”
“That remains to be determined.”

Trektober prompt day 20: Space Madness
“Captain… Captain come back to me… Kirk… Jim,” Spock murmured into both his mind and ear.
He was not responding to the meld, lost in a state of confusion and madness, completely unaware of his surroundings or of Spock's efforts to bring him back to a normal state of being. Spock could only see a dizzying array of dynamic colors but no clear thoughts. He realized he would need to go deeper, beyond what was considered proper, and delve into the depths of his subconscious mind.
(Give me the wild inverted film colors of the 60s please🙏🎨📺)
