The Roman goddess
Minatozaki Sana X Male Reader

The museum you are strolling through is called Castel Sant' Angelo. It used to be tomb for the Roman Emperor Hadrian and his family. Now, it's a very well known museum in Rome.
You admire the architecture and the sculptures standing around. The ceilings are quite high. All the walls are painted, the gorgeous colors bringing the ancient scenes to life.
You are not only here for fun though. It started around two years ago. Your career as an author. Until December two years ago, you did write, but it was more for yourself. You finally made your breakthrough with your first novel "The Roman eagle", about a lowly born Roman legionary, who rises through the ranks. You never thought this would make you big. And you didn't expect so many people wanting more. You didn't plan on it, but that one book is slowly turning into a series.
The second book came out at the end of last year. "The curse of Neptune". And now, you are working on your third. Since you didn't plan on writing a series, you have started to introduce several main characters with their own life stories.
You are now sitting on your third part. Not having a title yet, you keep wandering around the museum. You have already written quite a few pages, but the new character you want to introduce is hard to picture. It's supposed to be a woman. A woman, who is deceitful and ambitious, not caring about the ones around her. She only married her husband for his status and is now aspiring to climb the ranks. With or with out him.
You enter another room. The ceiling is high as well. The painted scenes show several different parts of day to day life from the Romans and their gods. The center of the room is reserved for a tall, almost life-size statue. Being an expert in history, especially Roman history, you can tell immediately that that's Venus. The goddess of love.
Wanting to have a closer look, you step forward. But your gaze is caught by the woman who is standing between you and the piece of art, her back turned towards you.
Her posture is flawless and you can't help but admire how straight her back looks, due to the white high heels she is wearing. The black skirt is quite long, almost reaching the floor. As you walk past her right, you see that it has a large slit in the front. Her naked leg is more than just captivating.

Glancing at the statue, you've always wondered how Venus would look like, if she was real. It feels like you might be able to paint a picture now.
The woman's white top is highlighting her chest, the fabric stretching over her tits. The turtle neck and the tied back hair make her look elegant and strict. Like a teacher or a rich man's wife.
Standing next to her, you smell her scent. Definitely flowers. Maybe roses? You were never the flower expert. Would Venus smell like this too? Roses are always considered the flowers of love. The idea doesn't seem too far fetched.
You notice that the young woman is standing quite close to the statue, holding a brochure in her hand. Usually, knowing about history isn't really a great turn on for women. But being in a museum, you might give it a try. She does have that classy look. So maybe she could be interested?
"Art and war should always be studied from a healthy distance."
You see her react. Not her face, since you are still standing two steps behind her, but the slight turn of her head. You could swear the corners of her mouth turned upwards, before she turns back towards the statue.
One step. Two steps. Her heels disrupt the silence in the otherwise empty room.
"A lot of people think that Venus and Aphrodite are the same goddess."
You were able to take a quick peek at the brochure she is holding. The people who work here should do a better job.
"But they have quite a couple of differences."
You wait a couple of moments. She doesn't say something or turns around. But she didn't run, which is at least a good start.
"While Aphrodite is the goddess of love, beauty and sex, Venus has to offer more than just that."
You walk behind the young woman, starting to feel comfortable, talking about a topic you are very familiar with.
"She actually started out as the goddess of gardens and vineyards. Before the Romans merged her with her Greek counterpart. And even then, she represents not just lust and sex. But also motherhood. You could say that she is a more loyal woman."
You glance at the woman, whom you are standing next to now. Her left side profile almost makes you stutter. She really must be a goddess.

Knowing that you might never meet someone like her ever again, you decide to shoot your shot. What's the worst that could happen? She could scream and run away. But it's only the two of you anyway.
"Which form is the one you can more easily identify with? The Roman, or the Greek one?"
You stand next to her, your shoulders almost touching. Turning your head towards her you almost whisper.
"Loyal? Or promiscuous?"
A smirk plays around the brunette's lips. She is not running yet.
But to your huge disappointment, she raises her right arm, her hand on the same hight as her chest. You are only distracted for a second, before you see the golden ring on her finger. It's decorated with a huge diamond in the center and a couple of smaller ones all around.
Of course she is married. A woman like her? Come on. You sigh internally. You should've figured.
"Promiscuous."
You were about to turn around as you hear her sweet voice. It takes you a second to realize what she says.
"I think I would be more like Aphrodite."
Is she saying you still have a shot? Even when she just showed you that she is married?
"Tell me more. I'm not sure if I can make a decision yet."
And she wants you to keep talking?
You take a deep breath, not wanting to screw this up.
"Venus has a more elevated status than Aphrodite. Her arguably most famous human son is Aeneas. The man who established Rome. A lot of emperors' wifes identified with Venus."
You see the woman tug a strand of her brown hair behind her ear.
"And you are saying that the Greek form wasn't as important?"
It's the first time she actually looks at you. Her beautiful features make her look way more elegant than from the side. Her lipstick makes her look stricter than she might usually would. You can tell that she is Asian, but not from which country.
"She was important. But not in the same way as Venus. She did have her own celebrations though."
The brunette is now fully turning towards you. It takes a lot of willpower to not look at her chest. It's almost as if she could sense your struggle. She places her hands on her hips, barely leaning forward. It makes her tits look just a little bigger.
"What kind of celebration?"
Her voice has changed. Until now, she spoke quiet. Just like someone should, while visiting a museum. But she is now whispering. Just like you did before. Her captivating gaze makes you stare into her eyes.
"A big part of the celebrations were Aphrodite's priestesses. The Greeks used a suiting form of worship for the goddess of love."
You take a step closer. Your shoe grazes hers. The smell of roses becomes a little stronger.
"They slept with her priestesses. That's how they worshipped her."
The brunette is unable to hold back her chuckle.
"And you are sure you didn't just make that up?"
For a moment her cute side shines through. She looks adorable when she smiles.
"I didn't. You can look it up."
"I don't want to though. I like listening to you."
"Well..."
You are too surprised to give a good answer. And there is not much more to say about the topic anyways.
The brunette seems to have caught up on that.
"What do you think about worshiping her now?"
"What?"
Your surprised face makes her almost moan out. You looked quite confident while hitting on her. The fact that you are getting shy is a turn on for her.
"There aren't many people here. And I think we should do it in front of the statue. You know? To pay our respects."
A million reasons why you shouldn't do this rush through your head. More than enough to say no. And yet, you can't help but catch yourself, leaning forward.
Your lips meet and you can immediately feel her hands wrap around your back. The kiss turns sloppy very fast. Pure lust and want radiate from her lips.
Once she breaks away, you can see that her lipstick is a little smeared. She seems to have recognized the worry in your eyes.
"Don't worry about my husband. Didn't Aphrodite constantly cheat on hers too?"
She got a point there. She did very much so.
Her lips meet yours once again. And this time your hands start to explore her body as well.
You still can't believe you've managed to come this far. She is probably the most beautiful woman you've ever seen. She could be the human form of the goddess.
"How bad do you want my tits?"
The fact that she caught you doesn't even bother you. Your mind too focused on taking in her flawless body.
"Really bad."
Her lips meet your neck, definitely leaving a hickey there.
"Show me."

You start pulling at the white fabric, getting it out of her skirt. Your hands dive underneath as the brunette locks lips with you again.
The smoothness of her skin is intoxicating. Her tight midriff feels well toned and cared for. Your fingertips reach her bra as you continue your quest.
Her hands are not idle either. You feel one of them opening the button of your pants, while the other has taken a fistful of your shirt. It's as if she is pulling you into her. Her hand sneaks into your pants, her fingers searching for the waistband of your underwear.
At the same time, you've finally gotten rid of her bra. It slides down her clothed frame, before it falls to the ground. It's white.
Her tits feel amazing. They are just as smooth as her skin. You start to knead them, still unable to understand how you got here.
She is a goddess. How are you able to stand in some museum, while you play with her tits? A mystery you don't even want to uncover. Some things are better left unknown.
The brunette's hand has found it's way into your boxers by now. Her slim fingers dance along the length of your shaft.
A moan escapes her lips. It's one of the most beautiful sounds you've ever heard. You didn't know that a person could sound so perfect.
"That cock of yours...."
She trails off, slightly biting your lower lip.
"It feels so big."
Her words make you even harder. A normal reaction to a goddess like beauty telling you that you have a big dick. Something you thought you would never ever experience in your life.
Your hands become a little rougher as your animalistic instincts slowly take over. You never felt so uncontrollable before.
Pinching her nipples, you hope for another moan. You get one. She moans into your mouth, closing her hand around your cock.
"I want this in my mouth."
You feel her pulling away. Your hands regretfully leave her tits and her top. But when she starts to kneel down, a wave of pure happiness washes through your body.
An excited tingle rushes through every fiber of your being as you watch her pulling down your pants. Your boxers following quickly after.
A gasp escapes her mouth, when she sees your cock for the first time.
"My husband isn't even half as big."
With a big smile, her face turns into something very cute. She gives your tip a kiss.
"A cock worthy of fucking my tits."
Her words turn you on even more. Her lips slowly wrap around your tip.
It takes her a while to pick up the pace. But once the brunette is there, her blowjob is quick and effective. You remember that you are still in a museum, standing pants down in front of a statue of Venus.
You are not a very religious person. But in that moment, you pray to that goddess, thanking her for this incredible experience.
Your prayer is interrupted by the brunette's slurping sounds. Her wet blowjob has ruined her lipstick completely by now. She looks so hot with your cock in her mouth. She places both her hands flat on your hips, before starting to fuck her face onto your cock.
You can't help but let out a loud groan, your hand automatically wanders to the back of her head. You don't start to dictate the pace. But you feel her head going a little faster.
With a woman like her, it's obvious that you won't last long. Especially if said woman fucks her face with your cock. You feel your orgasm approaching. The familiar tug in your lower regions makes you groan.
The brunette seems to have felt you twitch inside her mouth. She moves away, letting your dick fall out off her lips.
"You have a very delicious cock, you know?"
Not waiting for an answer, she starts to pull up her top. It's bunched up above her breasts. You are finally able to see them now. They seem perfectly shaped. Flawless like the ones of a goddess. Not too small, but not too big either. Just perfect handfuls.
"Try not to cum so fast."
Her wink turns her into something cute for just a moment. Then, her goddess like aura is back.
You feel her soft mounds wrap around you. She presses them together, making your cock disappear between them. As soon as she seems ready, you start to thrust upwards. You see her bite her lip as your tip appears in her cleavage.
Fucking her tits feels amazing. It feels better than anything you've experienced before. There is no comparison at all. Her soft mounds feel like they are made for you. Her warmth makes you feel hot and horny.
Eventually, she starts to stick out her tongue. It touches your tip whenever you thrust upwards. The new wetness on your tip makes you remember that your orgasm is close. It also helps with sliding trough her chest.
You have to hold onto her hair again, unable to stand by yourself.
"Your cock feels so good."
You hear her sigh as she stares down at it.
She suddenly looks up, opening her mouth, while sticking her tongue out. Her spit slowly starts to drip down her tongue. You watch as she drools all over her own cleavage. Her saliva starts to coat your cock. It makes her tits feel even smoother.
The young woman let's out another moan.
"I bet you would feel so good in my pussy."
You close you eyes, imagining yourself inside of her. The thought alone, almost makes you orgasm.
"My husband is so small, I'm practically a virgin."
She continues her talking, knowing what it does to you.
"I've never felt the pleasure of someone just pounding into me. I want to feel it. I want to feel how you rearrange my guts."
You hiss out, unable to silence the pleasure that is building up in your system. Only a little longer. You only want to hold out a little longer.
"I have such a tight pussy. You would love it."
Your grip in her hair strengthens as you approach your climax.
"That's it. Cum on my tits. Make Venus proud."
You glance at the statue for just a second. It feels like the woman on her knees is the real goddess. A beauty, too much for you to handle.
"I'm gonna cum."
You grunt out, unable to hold on any longer.
"That's good, honey. Cum on my tits. Use them like a canvas."
You groan one last time.
"Give me all of it."
You explode in her cleavage. Your cum hits her throat and chin, while some coats her tits. It feels like this is the strongest orgasm you've ever had. More cum than usual leaves your body.
In the end, her tits are covered in your semen, just like she wanted. Some is dripping down her chin. You see that her hands didn't get away without some, either. A few drops of your cum stain the big diamond on her ring. She notices it as well.
You watch in awe as she starts to lick her ring clean, after letting your spent cock leave her tits.
"Wow. That's a great load."
She scoops up some of your cum with her finger.
"And it tastes good, too."
She licks it off, before looking at you.
"What do you say? Right here? Or a hotel room?"
The option to say no doesn't even enter your brain. Still afraid of getting caught, you choose the hotel.
The brunette gets off her knees. You watch her pull her top down and putting the hem back into her skirt. Slowly, your cum starts to leave wet spots on the fabric. You pick up her bra, offering it to her.
"Keep it. Maybe you are lucky and you can complete the set."
With those words still lingering in your mind, she takes your hand, leading you towards the exit.
You've never head a clear picture of Venus or Aphrodite in your mind. Now you do. It's the woman who is holding your hand, her chest covered with your cum.
The fact that she is taking you to a hotel is making you hard again.
With one last glance at the statue, you finally know how to continue your next book.
The third part "The Roman goddess" will certainly become a bestseller.
________
Thank you for the ask. I unfortunately don't have the time to write much more.
The introduction seems a little long to me. Please keep sending short requests guys, I'm trying to shorten the part where I set the scene. With limited success as you can see.
Sana in that outfit definitely deserves a proper story, which I'm unable to write at the moment. I hope you are satisfied with that. I might be able to write the follow up somewhere in the future.
Have a nice day!

I've always appreciated data, and I'd like to see how people have run their characters in Shattered Eagle so far. I'm going to be putting out a few polls out of curiosity. I really wish Tumblr let you put multiple in a post like on the COG Forum, but oh well.

I don’t think that he’s been showing (much) aggression? He hasn’t tried to grab or attack me. It’s just a lot of very close hovering and helmeted staring when I work with the patient. The patient themself is very comfortable with the marine and calls him all sorts of nicknames. Some of them are strangely cutesy.
Did you know that Astartes purr? Because I didn’t until today. I was helping the patient walk around their home when the Astartes tried to shove his way between the two of us. The patient reached out and patted one of his teal pauldrons, and told them that they were okay. The astartes started purring and then picked up my patient.
It took the patient and me half an hour to convince him to put them down so that they could continue their walking exercises. As for symbols, I don’t see the two-headed eagle, feathered-skull, god marks/stars of chaos or the bat-wings. He does, however, have the Alpha and Omega symbol superimposed on one another on one pauldron, with a green multi-headed snake or dragon on the other.
Medical Anon
Oh yes they do purr it's very weird if you know what Astartes look underneath their armor but very nice. They make all sorts of noises that you wouldn't think they would make. Though they also can get loud.
OH! You have an Alpha Legion! They are strange Astartes because no one really knows what they are? They refuse to say it but it also means they aren't trusted a lot amongst other Astartes. So according to some Alpha Legionaries can't form bonds but that doesn't mean he's no less part of the family.
He will probably be very mistrusting of you but if the patient can keep him in line that might ease his distrust. I understand your worry given how some people experience pain and given how fast Astartes can react a lot of them are attack first figure things out later. You should be fine just make sure to tell him what you're doing at the very least. They are hyper intelligent you know.

Any good non fic recommendations?
That depends on your interests, of course. I'm particularly interested in the Roman Empire at the transition point from Republic to Empire (which could also explain my enjoyment of Warhammer, but there may be other reasons for that). And here especially military and everyday culture. I'm less interested in politics, but of course a lot of private matters were also political at that time.
Although I have to admit that this point in time is very soft and fluid. I'm just as interested in the Bellum Sociale and the whole Sulla/Marius tragedy as I am in the later British campaigns. I'm really not being very scholarly here.
A few good books for starters here are:
SPQR by Mary Beard. A quick and easy read and a tour de force through roman history from the kings to the fall of the emperors. I found it entertaining, but you should start with it, since if you are already deeper into the subject it doesn't offer much new insight.
A few books by my favourite experimental archaeologist, Marcus Junkelmann. I don't know if his books were translated into English, though. This guy builds and uses all the equipment he and his colleagues dig up! He marched across the Alps and along the Limes in legionary equipment, fought as a gladiator (various styles) and trained military horses the way the roman legion did. He's fucking awesome!
Gladiatoren. A very in depth look on the equipment, its ties to the development of military weapon and armour from the same time and on the living conditions of gladiators. Very good! If you can read/understand German, this book's a must have!
Die Reiter Roms, part one to three by the same author. So many details, so much context for archaeological finds! So many practical tests! Loved that. If you want to know why a letter from London to Rome took only a week in the first century? This is your book! Interested in the mounted police of the north-eastern border? This book.
A lighter read: 24 hours in Ancient Rome by Philip Matyszak. Exactly this. A whole day at augustinian Rome. With all the religious, mundane and political stuff that happened. You want to know more about roman firefighters? The system of political influence? Medical treatments for the poor? That's your book!
Some more military history: Roman Britain's Missing Legion - What really happened to IX Hispana by Simon Elliott. So much detective work and a lot of context, especially with the fleets, too. Liked that!
That's just a small slice of the cake - that field is vast and so much fun.
But if you are interested in some very good military fiction (backed by the most recent archaeological finds - so constantly changing, I'm afraid), you should absolutely take a look at the "Under the Eagle" series by Simon Scarrow. Very Warhammer in its own way. Great characters! The hard-ass Centurio Macro and the survivor of roman palace politics, young scribe-turned-Optio Cato become unlikely friends. And have lots of adventures. Blood and stuff.
And here's some roman AU Lucius as a treat.

Roman Coin - Gold Aureus of Augustus C. 19 BC
Obverse: portrait of Augustus. Reverse: SIGNIS RECEPTIS. Mars, the god of war, holding a legionary eagle and standard, referring to the great diplomatic achievement, and morale boost for Rome, when Augustus managed to negotiate with the Parthian king the return of the battle standards lost in three earlier campaigns.
Caesar Augustus (born Gaius Octavius; 23 September 63 BC – 19 August AD 14), also known as Octavian, was the founder of the Roman Empire; he reigned as the first Roman emperor from 27 BC until his death in AD 14 The reign of Augustus initiated an imperial cult as well as an era associated with imperial peace, the Pax Romana or Pax Augusta, in which the Roman world was largely free of armed conflict aside from expansionary wars and the Year of the Four Emperors. The Principate system of imperial rule established by Augustus lasted until the Crisis of the Third Century.

Writemas day 7
Lucky day 7!! TY for the tag @theeccentricraven
Today’s prompts: An empty road,The dead of night
[This is an account written on the back of a ruined shield, recovered along with a legionary eagle by Germanicus and his forces]
To any who find this.
If you are reading these words, then it means that I, Giaus have failed in my duty. May the ancestors be merciful in their judgement of me.
Autumn was giving way to winter. We were to depart to our winter quarters on the west of the river. But then came news of a rebellion. And so Varus marched us into the heart of Germania.
The roads were quiet. No sign of resistance. The quiet did nothing to raise our spirits. Our forces were spread out over many miles, every shadow in the trees seemed like the outlines of enemy warriors. We were hunting ghosts.
When the attack finally came, there was nothing we could do. Hemmed in on all sides,we fell like grain before the harvesters. O, Forgive me! I broke ranks and ran, like so many others. Flee or fight, it didn’t matter. Those who don’t die were hunted down. It was all sport to the barbarians. I may be the last survivor.
I dare not close my eyes. Every time I do, I see comrades being cut down, or else cry for mercy. The screams of men and horses haunt me still. Three legions…all gone. It is only me and the Eagle. Through fen and bramble I go, though it is little more than a feature of defiance. The dogs of my pursuers will sniff me out sooner or later.
Darkness is falling once again. The howls of wild men and the screams of war-horns grow ever louder. They picked up my trail and are closing in for the kill. I have hidden the Eagle, and with it this account. They have a better chance of surviving than I do. The odds of me recovering both are practically zero.
Jupiter give me the strength to fight to the very end.
Spreading to joy to @the-golden-comet @thelovelymachinery @cowboybrunch @somethingclevermahogony @ddgraywrites
@ominous-feychild @lavender-gloom @poethill @darkandstormydolls @thepeculiarbird and all who want to join in

Necro AU: Character Profile - Aldehan Adler
Image has been generated using the BING image generator.

Title: General Belligerent
Affiliation: The Legion
Name: Aldehan Adler
Race: Undead
Sex: Male
Age: Over 400, died at 37.
Nationality: Mondstadtian
Height: 184 cm

Short description: One of the most prominent generals of The Legion. A liche of notable age, Aldehan Adler originates from a time when the Lawrence Clan was still in power in Mondstadt. Champion of Qablu, The Bearer of War.
Long description: Aldehan Adler, despite his considerable age, remains to be one of the best generals to ever lead Beleth's armies. His death toll stands in number beyond counting, and the creatures he and his elite regiment of ancient undead killed would make a disturbingly long list. Being one of the most strict and ruthless commanders earned him the respect of veterans and the fearfulness of new recruits. Throughout history his training programmes gave rise to the most powerful Legionaries Umbra can offer, the most recent addition being the mortal nuisance named Sakurai Denki, a creation of Sunqu. His men are hardened in the flames of thousands of conflicts, resulting in low casualties, unbreakable discipline, and complete lack of remorse. With enough time, Adler can make anyone into a killing machine, willingly following The Great One's every order.
Visual appearance: Tall skeleton, clad in heavy armor. A characteristic dent in the jawbone, related to his death. Red hood over his skull, topped off with a crown. The hood extends into a thin cloak, with the Eye emblem woven in the middle with golden thread. Thick leather gloves, high, solid leather boots. Double belts with a simple clamp. Sheathed sword always on the hip, fully exposed. When engaged in combat, Adler summons a banner in his left hand, bearing the mark of his unit - an ascending eagle.
Personality: Charismatic, but ruthless. Cynical with a notable lack of empathy for the living. Great leader preferring to command from the field rather than a safe tent. Believes that the general's presence among the ranks, as well as fighting among them, boosts morale more than anything. Cares for those under his command. He will go to the Abyss itself for them, and they will willingly follow. Prone to brutality in combat, and lack of mercy afterwards. His word is law for his troops. Devout believer in The Necro Archon.

Model: Tall Undead
Rarity: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Vision: Necro
Weapon: Sword
Constellation: Gladius Mortis

Normal Attack: Qablian Bladework - Command
Performs up to 5 slashes with his sword, dealing PHYS DMG.
Charged Attack: Strikes his banner into the ground, dealing AoE PHYS DMG and calling all summoned units to him.
Plunge Attack: Strikes from above with his banner, impaling it into the ground and dealing AoE PHYS DMG.
Elemental Skill: Unholy Summoning
Press: Adler points the sword towards the nearest enemy, and sacrifices 15% of his MAX HP to summon a Wight.
Hold: Adler waves his banner, disbanding all summons. When a summon is disbanded within 5 seconds of being summoned and does not take any damage, Adler receives all of the spent HP back.
A total of 3 Wights can be summoned at a time.
For every summon present on the field, Adler's Max HP is decreased by 15% until the summon is either disbanded or dies in combat.
Wights have a lifespan of 30 seconds, and can be summoned only in combat. Upon leaving combat, the Wights are disbanded.
Wights' stats are based on a percentage of Adler's stats, including HP, DEF, and ATK. DMG% BONUS, CRIT RATE and CRIT DMG remain identical to Adler's.
Wights will attack opponents in melee, attracting their attention. They count as summons, meaning that even bosses and Traunce Bosses will attack them. Bosses will still prioritize the player if they are within reach.
Wights are disbanded once Aldehan Adler falls.
Skill CD: 25.0 seconds.
Note: All summons persist even if the summoner isn't the active character.
Voiceover: Press: "To me!" Press: "Rally!" Press: "Arise!" Hold: "Withdraw!" Hold: "Stand down!" Hold: "They're mine!"
Encyclopedia: Wight
Wights are the backbone of the Necro Archon's armies. Too weak or just not fit to join the Legion, they serve as the anvil to the hammer of cavalry, more elite troops and ranged units. Most are very loyal, but their cores limit their capability to question or resist the Great One. Their average age doesn't usually exceed a hundred years. With decent armor, good training and high quality weapons, Wights hold the line for other troops to deliver the killing blow.
Pros:
+ High HP + Good DEF + Armor + Shield + Ranged attack - a javelin throw every 10.0 seconds + Good lifespan
Cons:
- Weak ranged attack - Slow speed - Low ATK - Melee attacks can’t reach floating enemies - When destroyed with Pyro, the Wight will explode, dealing damage to everyone around
Voiceover: Summoned: "At your command." Summoned: "Your will?" Summoned: "Lead us." Kill: "Feed the worms!" Kill: "For The Great One!" Kill: "Die!"
Elemental Burst: Death March
Adler places down his banner, creating a Banner of Slaughter. All summons within the radius of Banner of Slaughter gain Necro infusion. A knockback occurs, dealing Necro DMG.
Once per 3.0 seconds, spawns a Skeleton. A max of 20 Skeletons can exist at the same time.
Skeletons have a lifespan of 10.0 seconds.
All summons within Banner of Slaughter’s radius have their lifespans refreshed every 1.0 seconds.
Banner of Slaughter duration: 15.0 seconds
Banner of Slaughter range: 30 meters
Energy cost: 80
Banner of Slaughter cooldown: 30.0 seconds.
Animation: The camera zooms into Adler's face. The white points in his eyes glow bright red. Adler lifts his banner above his head and strikes it into the ground, with the camera zooming out to capture the ghostly shapes of soldiers behind him.
Voiceover: “Weaklings, bow before His might!” “Stand with me, or perish!” “Cull the weak, slay the strong!” “Cravens, they flee before us!”
Encyclopedia: Skeleton
Skeletons are the weakest troops at the Necro Archon’s disposal. Their mental capacity is limited to executing orders, with no trace of sapience. They perform mundane and repetitive jobs like work in the mines, farming or guard duties. Their combat use is rare, since their lackluster skills make placing cores inside them a waste of time, resources and Necro energy that could be spent on creating Wights. Despite this, they are cheap and easy to summon en masse as meat shields for more valuable troops, temporary protection for liches and necromancers or for flooding enemy positions. They fare decently against weak and average fighters, making up for their temporary nature.
Pros:
+ High ATK + Shielded + Summoned in high numbers + Doesn’t explode upon death by Pyro + Fairly fast
Cons:
- Low DEF - Low HP - Low lifespan - No ability to attack floating enemies - No ranged attack
Skeletons don’t feature voice lines.
Passive I: Forged In Bloodshed
Equips Wights with heavy armor, granting them +60% DEF. Their shields are steel-plated, making them unburnable.
Passive II: Call The Dead
When a living, humanoid enemy is killed during the duration of Banner of Slaughter, a Skeleton is spawned. Extends the lifespan of Skeletons by 2.0 seconds.
Passive III: Sacking
When Aldehan Adler is in the team, Mora dropped from enemies has a 1000% multiplier. Mora obtained from chests has a 300% bonus. When Aldehan Adler opens a Ley Line: Blossom of Wealth, he obtains 25% additional Mora.
Bonus Ability: Necromantic Mastery
Replaces the special dish ability. When Adler crafts a Summoning Schematic, he has a 20% chance of obtaining double the product.
Encyclopedia: Summoning Schematics
Summoning Schematics are craftable gadgets that allow the player to summon a Necro entity to aid them in combat, at the cost of a portion of the summoner’s MAX HP. They have a cooldown of 300.0 seconds.

Constellation I: Flood of Death
On activation of Death March, three Skeletons are spawned. Increases the spawn frequency from 3.0 seconds to 2.0 seconds.
Constellation II: Unending Warfare
The MAX HP penalty for casting Unholy Revival is decreased by 5%. Wights gain a 10.0 seconds increase in their lifespan.
Constellation III: Desecration
Increases the level of Unholy Revival by 3.
Constellation IV: Violent Delight
When a summon kills an enemy, Adler gains 10 Energy and 15% of his MAX HP as healing.
Constellation V: Ruthless Discipline
Increases the level of Death March by 3.
Constellation VI: Sustained by Slaughter
When a summon kills an enemy, their lifespan is reset. 30% of DMG dealt by summons is returned to them as healing.

This is the only known surviving example of the semicylindrical shield known as a scutum, used by Roman legionaries and known from literary sources. It was found in Dura-Europos, in present-day Syria, in the 1930s, and was recently part of an exhibition at the British Museum of.
It is held by the Yale University Art Gallery (inventory number 1933.715). The shield was found in the excavation campaign of 1928/37 on Tower 19 of Dura-Europos.
The city was besieged by the Sassanids in 256, eventually captured and destroyed. The dry climate enables very good conservation conditions for organic materials such as wood. Since the city housed a Roman garrison and was lost during a siege, a particularly large number of weapons were found during the excavations.
Found flattened, in thirteen pieces, and missing its umbo (central boss), the shield was reconstructed by the Yale-French excavation team. The painted decoration reflects Roman iconography of victory, including an eagle with a laurel wreath, winged Victories, and a lion.

I first read Eagle in the Snow in high school because I had just finished Gates of Fire and promptly hit up the library website to search for all the Steven Pressfield they had and saw he wrote the introduction. When I read it then it felt so contemporary I assumed it had been written during my lifetime. How surprised was I to see it was published in the 1970s!
I read it again during my vacation and it still feels so contemporary it makes me go feral. It points a lot of fingers and it’s still pointing them at the right places and the right people. What an incredible piece of writing.
It’s become my favorite book, supplanting the novel that helped me discover it, because it remains uncomfortable. Gates of Fire, for all its strengths, still makes heroes of its cast while Breem was content with his cast dying. They died and what did they die for? Nothing, frankly. They just died.
It reminds me of Dan Olson’s video about Doug Peterson’s The Wall: “these people didn’t die heroically for a great cause. They just died.” (Heavy paraphrasing)
(Frankly as time goes on I find it more and more inappropriate that Gates of Fire refuses to acknowledge —and condemn— the pedophilia inherent to the time and place it takes place in, plus who wants to glorify the Spartans, if all people?)
I also encountered, for the first time, the room temperature IQ Goodreads user who didn’t like Eagle in the Snow. This was by accident. I was scrolling the immense praise for the novel and was pretty surprised by it because it still feels like a hidden gem to me. Lo and behold, some dude who “reads” so many books I don’t think he comprehends them and has a Roman legionary helmet on in his profile photo shows up to call it Bad. The criticism, if I may be so bold as to read between the lines, is that the idea of Rome and the Roman citizen is not diefied.
So much of Roman Empire fandom in the modern era (and just about every era since it fell) has been an extreme love for the violence, the authoritarianism, and the cruelty. Those things, eventually, brought the whole system to its knees and this reviewer didn’t like that. There are no Heroes in Eagle in the Snow, not really, and this reviewer can’t handle a Rome without one. He’s upset that greed eats the empire alive and all the capable men play at kings… like, my brother in (I assume) Christ, that’s just what happened. This isn’t really even a debate. If you can’t handle it maybe you should interrogate why that makes you so uncomfortable. Maybe you shouldn’t stan an ancient culture that would have hated you.
Also shoutout to the little section where you complained about the “lack of subtext” when most of the details are subtextual because the narrator rarely speaks anything plainly. It’s hard to believe you actually read the thing.
Anyway, I love this novel. I’ll probably read it again in a few months. I have a Lego display in mind for it, also, but Legionnaires are so expensive…

Who: Open to the Legionaries Where: Shrike's Roost, Caer Glas Keep Notes: This is a bending time starter as I realize that most of the Legion is scattered and maybe not at Caer Glas Keep but I wanted a thread following our campaign and life stole me away for a long time.
It was with quiet steps that she climbed the steps up to the drafty tower that Shrike had claimed his own, twigs and hay stuck haphazardly out of the window sills and it was a gentle happiness that came from bringing life back to the crumbling keep. Once she had arrived, she saw the griffon curled up in its nest with its mighty eagle wings curled around its side and he watched Luna carefully as she entered his domain, he didn't take his steely gaze off her as she pulled the field mice that she had prepared for him as a snack, lifting one on her palm and his beak carefully gobbled the snack down with a happy mewl. She knew she wasn't alone with the arrival of another. "Would you like to feed him?"

From Bubble to Cage: Hans Hollein's Architectural Journey and the Necessity of Security in Assessing Rome
Hans Hollein's conceptual journey from the transparent bubble mobile office to the gilded bird cage reflects not only a transformation in architectural vision but also a profound commentary on societal shifts and the complexities of modern work environments. Initially, with his proposal of the transparent bubble mobile office, Hollein epitomized the optimism of the 1960s, envisioning a future where technology would liberate individuals from the confines of traditional workplaces. This vision celebrated freedom and flexibility, allowing professionals to work from any location, untethered by the constraints of a fixed office space. However, as time progressed and societal dynamics evolved, Hollein's perspective seemed to adapt to a more nuanced understanding of the implications of technological advancement. The transition to conceptualizing the mobile office as a gilded bird cage suggests a maturation of thought, recognizing that while technological innovation offers unprecedented opportunities for mobility and connectivity, it also presents new challenges and complexities. The metaphor of the gilded cage evokes the idea of luxury and comfort juxtaposed with limited freedom. In the context of remote work and digital environments, the gilded cage represents the paradox of working from home—a space that offers convenience and comfort but may also impose constraints on personal freedom and creativity. Moreover, the symbolism of the barn swallow, Austria's national bird, adds another layer of significance to Hollein's narrative. The barn swallow, known for its migratory nature and adaptability to various environments, serves as a poignant symbol of mobility and resilience. The choice to echo the barn swallow in this image reflects an awareness of the need for architects to adapt to changing landscapes and embrace innovative solutions while remaining grounded in cultural identity and heritage. Furthermore, the reference to a proposed Pantheon bird cage and the historical significance of symbols like the aquila and the eagle, adds another layer of depth to Hollein's narrative. The Pantheon, with its architectural marvels and historical significance, serves as a reminder of the enduring legacy of Rome and the importance of preserving cultural heritage. The symbolism of the aquila, representing imperial rule and military honour, underscores the timeless human quest for security and protection, both physically and ideologically. In the context of assessing Rome, the necessity of security for the architect becomes paramount. Just as the Roman legionaries went to great lengths to protect their standards, architects today must navigate a complex landscape of competing priorities, balancing the preservation of cultural heritage with the need for innovation and adaptation. Hollein's evolution from envisioning a transparent bubble mobile office to conceptualizing of it as a gilded bird cage reflects this ongoing tension between tradition and progress, security and freedom, reminding us of the enduring relevance of historical context in shaping contemporary architectural discourse.

(16/75) The Roman Road - Thomas Hardy
The Roman Road runs straight and bare
As the pale parting-line in hair
Across the heath. And thoughtful men
Contrast its days of Now and Then,
And delve, and measure, and compare;
Visioning on the vacant air
Helmed legionaries, who proudly rear
The Eagle, as they pace again
The Roman Road.
But no tall brass-helmed legionnaire
Haunts it for me. Uprises there
A mother's form upon my ken,
Guiding my infant steps, as when
We walked that ancient thoroughfare,
The Roman Road.
