Magic.

Literally, magic. There is magic in this universe. The MWPP became Animagi at 15. There is a basilisk living in Hogwart's basement. Portraits can talk. There are ghosts.

I feel like magic in most fics is very present in the daily sense (chores, apparition, fighting), but most people for some reason are scared to actually take advantage of it to the fullest, do crazy things, come up with new rituals or creatures.

I do love Regulus so much, but I feel like that part specifically is always made out to look like he was some kind of great hero and wonderkid genius, when in reality dude went in there with absolutely no plan, ended up dying, never destroyed the horcrux, never told anyone and only made the job for the people to come after him harder.

He did his best but the entire thing is more hilarious in how failed and badly planned it is, than anything else TTwTT

In the Marauders fandom - Snape.

There is a severe lack of fics where the MWPP and Snape are forced into some sort of cooperation. It's comedic gold. Snape knows about Remus. He is ridiculously talented and creative in his inventions, just like our boys. It never gets old.

Because how are you going to sit there and say Alicent recounted a fabricated version of Blood and Cheese to historians to make Rhaenyra look bad and that’s why you changed it.

The very same Alicent that you say has been humbled this season and betrayed her sons to help Rhaenyra.

How are you so stupid that you can’t even keep her characterization the same in your own brain when you rationalize your butchering of the story you were tasked with adapting. Which one is it? Is Alicent the humbled Rhaenyra helper who wanted to doom her male relatives. Or is Alicent the bitter Rhaenyra hater who destroyed her reputation in the histories. SHE CANNOT BE BOTH RYAN.

And if this is some weak attempt at saying Alicent will change again…FUCK YOU. Because you threw out her season 1 characterization completely for this season 2 humbled Alicent arc. Only to apparently throw it all out AGAIN for a queen in chains who hates Rhaenyra and will ruin her reputation arc for seasons 3 and 4. In which case WHAT WAS THE REASON. WHY DID YOU EVEN DO THIS. JUST KEEP THE CHARACTER CONSISTENT

I’m just saying. That Ryan Condal is not even capable of figuring out who he wants Alicent to be. So he just uses his weird misinterpretations and hatred of Alicent to excuse every bizarre and stupid creative decision he makes. And all that does is make Alicent a character with absolutely zero consistency. Because she is Rhaenyra’s best friend, then she’s Rhaenyra’s biggest hater, then she’s Rhaenyra’s supporter again (the toasting scene???), then she’s a usurper, then she helps Rhaenyra, then she’s apparently going to hate Rhaenyra all over again and recount fabrications to history. And on and on it goes.

At this point just let Alicent hate Rhaenyra and be done with it. I’m tired

as a huge fan of both harry potter and percy jackson, it always rubs me the wrong way when people criticize harry by saying, “percy challenged the corrupt system and held them accountable, harry became part of it.” if the aim is to criticize jk rowling, i’m more than willing, but there are plenty of other decisions she made that actually deserve scrutiny. harry becoming an auror is not one of them. he didn’t join a flawed institution to become part of its corruption; he joined because he intended to FIX it. harry is extremely powerful, headstrong and determined, naturally drawn to mysteries, and has a deep commitment to justice. he was made to be an auror. and his goal is to make the wizarding world safer, to pursue dark wizards and death eaters, and to eliminate the threats that hang over the post-war wizarding world.

i love percy more than anything, and his choice to step back and live his life instead of becoming an immortal god was a brave and humble decision. i adore him for it. i love how our seaweed brain just wants to live his life in peace with his girlfriend and his besties. but harry, after all the betrayal and trauma he endured from the ministry, choosing to work within it — knowing how broken it was — took IMMENSE courage. he could have lived comfortably on his fortune or pursued a much more fun path in quidditch. but instead, he chose to be right there in the thick of it, determined to fix a broken system and put dangerous individuals where they belong. after everything he’s been through? that’s fucking amazing. it’s very on brand for harry.

so yeah i have endless admiration for percy for calling out corruption. but harry didn’t tell them to fix it. he chooses to fix it himself.

stop pitting my boys against each other. jk rowling has made a lot of mistakes in her life, many that i will never forgive her for. but making harry an auror was not one of them. he was born for it, and it would have been cheap and out of character to say he chose a career that’s fun or easy. because harry never backs down from a challenge, and especially not one that saves a life.
