LAST BUT NOT LEAST ... TOMARANG K-505 - K-101 - K-606

Hello everyone and of course Happy New Year :)

To begin 2024, let's start with something bold :D the ALL textures override of Tomarang ( 4 Rent expansion ) aka k-505 Terrain Mod ...

While some are experiencing new forms of torture with their Sims ( landlord harassing tenants or tenants harassing landlord ) and others are marveling on exotic or homy surroundings, we were wondering how to tackle Tomarang ...

Indeed, it is a nice place and we had a special spot for it since the first images. Urbanization thought differently. So many trees, so many corners to explore ! So, we tackled, nature, urban and roads of Tomarang. Details and textures. Also minor corrections to better up the world. Like the lotus flowers. Or the hidden temples. Well, they are not really hidden but they are quite far away and not accessible which is a loss for all of us. And all the Sims ! See people, that’s how Sims-story is forgotten, when you can’t access to cultural landmarks.

We also updated the Architek Mod ( k-606 ) and the Builder Mod ( k-101 ) : Tomarang’s roof are fully re-texturized and floors are partly re-texturized and available for your own build :) We left the tiled floors untouched until further notice ;) or not ... We rather think to make addendum for those ones :)

Well ... 250 files has been reworked, most of them in a Maxis match style. That's why we waited for this new year to release the k-Mods ...

the k-707 for Tomarang is not yet available .. Because it is next on the roadmap : we are working on trees - sometimes it feels like we are always saying this ?_? : what we are really working on is an overhaul of the k-707 Mod ... A HUGE ONE ... It is becoming nearly impossible to work properly and across all EP/GP. Expect something on that … sometimes soon. Because we really have to work the trees in a different order ... We'll talk about this

As not to burn ourselves, we’ll probably make some k-303 releases along the road ( such as our new Natural Clouds, for example ) And keep an eye on what’s cooking at EAxis …

Gosh ! 2024 is already a full of projects year ... And as already said, there are too the Sims 3 Worlds projects :D

A Wartime Footing: An Explanation for Aziraphale's Elevator Smile

(Based on an ask from @sabotage-on-mercury in response to my meta on why Aziraphale had to go to Heaven)

The creepy smile was one part of the ending I couldn't quite put my finger on either, until someone pointed out on a Twitter response to my meta:

The reason why its scary is bc azi is becoming properly angry at the system and is 101% determined to set things right (Source)

In season 1, Aziraphale was determined not to kill anyone to stop the Apocalypse. He wouldn't even tell Crowley where the Antichrist was, because Crowley's only solution was to kill him.

And because Crowley consistently didn't have any ideas ("not one single better idea??"), Aziraphale took it on himself to pursue the only option left––to ask God to intervene and stop both Heaven and Hell from destroying Earth. Therefore, Aziraphale had to keep the integrity of his angel status by distancing himself from Crowley, while the world was still in danger.

Despite this dedication avoid bloodshed, when God didn't have an answer, Aziraphale went against one of his core beliefs to help save the world. He was willing to murder a child.

For Aziraphale, that takes guts. And (seeing how he reacted at the end of the Job minisode), I wonder that if he had killed Adam Young, Aziraphale would have checked himself into Hell.

Going to Heaven for Aziraphale is ultimately a conscious choice, one that he is clearly afraid of. We see him constantly steeling himself again the Metatron in the end, covering his fear and hurt from losing Crowley with a placid smile and a flippant attitude. He's wearing so many masks, to Crowley, to himself, to the Metatron...

All season we've seen him playing roles (detective, magician, doctor, landlord). But the final role is warrior. Going up that elevator, we first see Aziraphale's eyes searching, worried, panicking, but unable to show it because he's not in a safe space. He swallows, blinks, he's breathing hard (you can see his entire shoulders rise and fall).

But as he goes up, his expression steels. He's quite literally putting on a mask (to himself): a vengeful, hardened expression of pure anger and rage (to drown out the fear and uncertainty he so clearly still has).

Cuz this isn't just him scrambling to kill a kid, this is him walking calmly and knowingly into sacrificing everything he loves most (Crowley, the bookshop, his entire life on earth) to create a world that will always be safe for him and Crowley and humanity for the rest of time. Where he would have to go up against the most powerful angels, the Metatron, and God Themself to change things. He can't be the kind, sweet angel he was on Earth. That won't cut it in Heaven if he wants to make a difference in any real way.

He wanted to do it with Crowley, with the love and support and strength of his demon. But without him, Aziraphale has to channel something else to keep his resolve afloat.

Something he had when he was a warrior, fighting on the front lines of a battle between Heaven and Hell, when he very likely led a platoon into divine fields of bloodshed before the earth was born. When he was an avenging angel.

I haven’t done this since the Great War.

It was a time and an identity he had chosen to leave behind, because it wasn't the kind of angel he was anymore ("I'm not fighting in any war!"). In this context, you can read Aziraphale's passionate unwillingness to take a life (his pacifism) directly into his past experience as a warrior. It is often the veterans of terrible wars who are the most earnest advocates for peace. (And especially in Britain and Europe, where the violence of the world wars is still such a powerful and painful national memory.)

As he goes up the elevator, he's breathing so hard we can hear it mirrored in the soundtrack, and he is so hyperfocused on steeling himself that he doesn't even care that the Metatron is watching him. He doesn't rest until he's psyched himself into that warrior mindset necessary to carry out this mission entirely by himself, to be both the moral advocate and the uncompromising leader of angels who had intimidated him his entire life. To demand respect and to talk to the very face of God and tell Them they are Wrong.

That creepy smile is clearly not there because Aziraphale is happy to fall into a toxic parent's false love. There's no comfort or wistful nostalgia in that face. There's no "it'll be so much nicer" in that smile. It's not a happy smile. It's an I'm-gonna-fuck-shit-up smile.

Because it's a warrior's smile before they go into battle, before they put on that armor and, for a while, become something they're not in the name of some greater good. He's fucking furious and it's downright frightening.

Because I have no doubt that the angel Aziraphale we get in Season 3 is the angel Aziraphale who can say this:

He's not quite there yet in the TV show. But this bravery, this anger, this flaming rage is how it starts.

Or as he's described in the book when Aziraphale mysteriously does away with the local mafia:

Just because you’re an angel doesn’t mean you have to be a fool.

Welcome to Veronica's Strange Apartments .ᐟ

🏚️ Veronica's Strange Apartments is the apartment complex famously known for its paranormal activity, past history with crime and murder committed behind the walls of the complex, as well as seeings of deceased past residents. It was built back in 1887 by the Hudges family and was owned and managed by Osgar Hudges, the original landlord, from at least 1932 up until his tragic death in 1978, being passed down and newly brought back to live by his granddaughter Veronica Hughes, now being the new established landlord and owner.

This room is occupied by your lovely landlord, Miss Veronica Hughes but once was the room of the past formal landlord and her grandfather, Osgar Hughes, he died from natural causes for him being old age and conveniently was the only person who was officially pronounced dead. His room being the only one without an original ghost and being the only non-haunted room.

🗝️ ROOM 101 - The Recent Crime

This room has the most counts of murder committed inside of its walls, dating back to when the building was first built and the first murder, Stephanie Russo - age 28 - was murdered with her young daughter Molly Russo - age 7 - it’s been rumored they drowned in the nearby lake by the hands of the husband Timothy Russo - age 31 - since a tight bloody noose have been found hanging in the shared bedroom of the couple and it’s been confirmed it belonged to the father but it’s none have been confirmed as the bodies of the small family never have been found. — case from 1890

This room is the most known for the rumor of a humanoid robot being build with the purpose to murder other residents but one unfortunate stormy night while still being under construction its creater, Cordell Steffani - age 56 - was found brutally beat to death in his own bedroom which was rumored to be caused by the humanoid robot after a lighting bolt struck the satellite above his window and since the robots wires were connected to the satellite it brought it to live and the programmed instincts kicked in, none have been confirmed to this day. — case from 1913

This room is mostly known for the military soldier, living strictly by the rules and very respectful who took his own life inside of the room shortly after renting the apartment, Connor Price - age 23 - was found shot in the head, piercing right through his brain, the incident caused out of his own fault as the gun used in the murder belonged to the young man and had his fingerprints all over it alongside laying in his arms when he was found in the infamous room. - case from 1896

This room is mostly know for “The Typewriter Incident” involving a famous fantasy author as the victim, Norman Fisher - age 65 - was beaten and strangled with the use of his vintage typewriter he wrote all of his famous books and novels with, the buttons being ripped out of the object and gauged out his eyes, replacing his eyeballs with the buttons with the letters ‘N’ & ‘F’ coincidently the victims initials and severe bruising around the neck as well as a paper thin cut wrapping around the base of it. - case from 1909

This room is famously known for the mysterious ‘The Holy Body’ case, the man’s identity was never fully discovered as all evidence of his identity were completely destroyed or stolen, this could possibly be related to the case involving ‘Mr. James Campbell’ who once lived in the apartments but never confirmed as he is marked missing till this day, the man’s body was supposedly witnessed by the current landlord Ms. Veronica Hughes when cleaning the room but never reported, then the body was found underneath the altar at the local church, his body and clothes wet from holy water. - case from 1899

Our friend Erin was recently kicked out by her landlord and is facing homelessness with her 3 cats. She is currently receiving inpatient treatment for a severe mental health crisis after an incident with her abusive boyfriend. Erin formerly lived with her violently abusive father but was finally able to leave in 2022. She moved to a new state which meant she no longer had her license, therapist, doctors etc. which exacerbated her disabilities. Unfortunately, the new living situation turned sour as her landlord became neglectful in his property upkeep which resulted in Erin receiving several injuries. He also became abusive and forbid her 3 cats from leaving her bedroom, as well as stealing food and toiletries from Erin. During this time, her cats developed health issues that require regular medication and monitoring (diabetes, urinary issues) and her own disabilities worsened due to lack of medical care.

The landlord announced his intention to kick her out in May 2024. Erin had applied for Section 8 housing and was attempting to move into a new place, but this fell through due to lack of funds. She had to move into her boyfriend’s apartment to avoid homelessness, however her boyfriend is abusive and neither she nor her cats are safe there.

Due to a severe mental health crisis in mid-July which resulted in a suicide attempt, Erin has now sought inpatient treatment at a local hospital. She has found another potential apartment to rent, however the deposit and fees are not covered by the Section 8 assistance and must be paid upfront. We are desperately hoping to raise this money so that she can secure this apartment and have a safe place to live. She cannot remain at her boyfriend’s because aside from his abuse, his landlord will not allow her and her cats to remain in the unit. She is unfortunately not able to live with any of us because we are internet friends spread worldwide.

Please donate if you can; if not, please reblog this post to increase its visibility. We are frantically trying to secure Erin a safe place to live so that she can be free from abuse and violence and can begin to recover. We really want to keep her and her cats together because we fear that, due to their age and health issues, they will be euthanised if surrendered to a shelter.

Would You Dig For Me? , Rated T. Complete. Tommy watched a video of a news report from the well collapse, and had some realizations. It's a BT break-up, and, honestly, I like it better than the canon one. Buddie.

Dispatch Era

Never Ending Nightmare, Rated T. Complete. Basically, Buck struggles with nightmares because of all of his trauma, and a lot of those nightmares feature the death of Eddie and/or Christopher. When Eddie was at the 118, it was easy for Buck to ground himself and see that the nightmare was just that. With Eddie at dispatch, not so much.

Don't Leave Me, Rated T. Complete. Buck spirals because of Eddie going to dispatch and leaving the 118, and drunkenly confronts Eddie about it. Buddie.

Tsunami

I Walked Through Water To Fall At Your Feet, Rated T. Complete. During the tsunami, Buck and Christopher didn't get separated.

Slipping In The Shower, Rated T. Complete. After working a call at the beach, Buck goes home and has a really bad tsunami flashback that gets coupled with a concussion.

Wave on Wave, Rated T. Complete. While Christopher is in Texas, the 118 takes a call to the beach. Buck has a tsunami flashback while on the call, and the only way they can snap him out of it is to call Christopher.

Buck's Bad Night, Rated T. Complete. Buck has a 12 hour shift while everyone else has a 24. Not wanting to go home to his empty loft and miserable over the state of his relationship with the rest of the 118, Buck goes to a bar, where someone tampers with his drink, and he has to call 9-1-1. The 118 respond.

Man Down, Rated T. Complete. It's the first call that Bobby has let Buck out on since the lawsuit, and he gets hurt. Not wanting to get stuck being man behind again, Buck tries to hide the injury. Buddie.

No Matter Where I Go, I'm Never Home, Rated T. Complete. Buck's landlord evicts Buck without warning, so he plans to sleep in his Jeep. And then his Jeep gets stolen, so he gets stuck sleeping on the street. It doesn't end well.

When Chores Attack, Rated T. Complete. Buck is stuck as man behind, and has to clean the ladder truck when the 118 comes back from a call. To do so, he has to climb under the truck, which causes a flashback to the truck bombing. Buddie.

Buck On Fire, Rated M. Complete. Buck's apartment building catches on fire in the middle of the night, and he gets everyone out, but gets injured in the process. He waves off the paramedics to tend to everyone else instead of him, and nearly dies as a result.

You Can Blame Bad Luck, Rated M. Complete. Buck runs into Christopher and Pepa at a grocery store mere minutes before a mass shooting breaks out. Buddie.

Behind Blue Eyes, Rated G. Tumblr Prompt. Complete. Buck gives the 118 a piece of his mind.

Blood In The Candy, Rated T. Complete. Halloween themed, because who doesn't like those? Buck gets mugged on his way to work on Halloween, and everyone thinks his injuries are just a costume.

In 2004 a senior advisor to President George W. Bush famously told journalist Ron Suskind that people like Suskind lived in “the reality-based community.” They believed people could find solutions to problems through careful study of discernible reality. But, the aide continued, Suskind’s worldview was obsolete. “That’s not the way the world really works anymore,” the aide said. “We are an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you’re studying that reality— judiciously, as you will—we’ll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that’s how things will sort out. We’re history’s actors…and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.” 

We appear to be in a moment when the reality-based community is challenging the ability of the MAGA Republicans to create their own reality. 

Central to the worldview of MAGA Republicans is that Democrats are socialists who have destroyed the American economy. Trump calls Harris a “radical-left. Marxist, communist, fascist” and insists the economy is failing. 

In Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, today, Harris laid out her three-pillar plan for an “opportunity economy.” She explained that she would lower costs by cutting taxes for the middle class, cutting the red tape that stops housing construction, take on corporate landlords who are hiking rental prices, work with builders and developers to construct 3 million new homes and rentals, and help first-time homebuyers with $25,000 down payment assistance. She also promised to enact a federal ban on corporate price gouging on groceries and to cap prescription drug prices by negotiating with pharmaceutical companies. 

Harris said she plans to invest in innovation by raising the deduction for startup businesses from its current $5,000 to $50,000 and providing low- or no-interest loans to small businesses that want to expand. Her goal is to open the way for 25 million new small businesses in her first four years, noting that small businesses create nearly 50% of private sector jobs in the U.S. 

Harris plans to create manufacturing jobs of the future by investing in biomanufacturing and aerospace, remaining “dominant in AI, quantum computing, blockchain, and other emerging technologies, and expand[ing] our lead in clean energy innovation and manufacturing.” She vowed to see that the next generation of breakthroughs—“from advanced batteries to geothermal to advanced nuclear—are not just invented, but built here in America by American workers.” Investing in these industries means strengthening factory towns, retooling existing factories, hiring locally, and working with unions. She vowed to make jobs available for skilled workers without college degrees and to cut red tape to reform permitting for innovation.

“I am a capitalist,” she said. “I believe in free and fair markets. I believe in consistent and transparent rules of the road to create a stable business environment. And I know the power of American innovation.” She said she would be pragmatic in her approach to the economy, seeking practical solutions to problems and taking good ideas from wherever they come. 

“Kamala Harris, Reagan Democrat!” conservative pundit Bill Kristol posted on social media after her speech. 

For his part, Trump has promised an across-the-board tariff of 10% to 20% that billionaire Mark Cuban on the Fox News Channel called “insane” and Quin Hillyer of the Washington Examiner warned “would almost certainly cause immense price hikes domestically, goad other countries into retaliating, and perhaps set off an international trade war” that could “wreck the economy.” Cuban then told Jake Tapper of CNN that Trump’s promise to impose 10% price controls on credit card interest rates and price caps is “Socialism 101.” 

Yesterday, more than 400 economists and high-ranking U.S. policymakers endorsed Harris, and today, the members of former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley’s presidential leadership teams in Michigan, Iowa, and Vermont announced they would be supporting Harris, in part because of Trump’s economic policies.

While Trump insisted yet again today that “the economy is doing really, really badly,” the stock market closed at a record high today for the fourth day in a row. 

In other economic news, for nine years, Trump has said he will find a cheaper and better way to provide healthcare to Americans than the Affordable Care Act, although on September 10 he admitted he has only the “concepts of a plan.” Today the Treasury Department released statistics showing that 4.2 million small business owners have coverage through the ACA. Losing that protection would impact 618,590 small business owners in Florida, 450,010 in California, 423,790 in Texas, and 168,070 in Georgia.

Trump has made a claim that crime has risen dramatically under President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris central to his campaign rhetoric. The opposite is true. Two days ago, on September 23, the Federal Bureau of Investigation released its official report on crime statistics from 2023 compared with 2022. Those statistics showed that murder and non-negligent manslaughter fell by 11.6%. Rape fell by 9.4%. Aggravated assault fell by 2.8%. Robbery fell by 0.3%. Hate crimes fell by 0.6%. 

Central to the worldview of MAGA Republicans is that immigration weakens a nation and that immigrants increase crime and disease. First Republican vice presidential nominee Ohio senator J.D. Vance and then Trump himself repeatedly advanced the lie that Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, are eating their neighbors’ pets and bringing disease. 

Clergy members from multiple faiths have asked politicians to stop their lies about Haitian immigrants, and today the leader of Haitian Bridge Alliance, a nonprofit organization that represents the Haitian community, filed a charges against Trump and Vance for disrupting public services, making false alarms, telecommunications harassment, and aggravated menacing and complicity.  

Immediately, Representative Clay Higgins (R-LA), who in the past supported Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke and filmed a selfie inside a gas chamber at Auschwitz, posted on social media: “Lol. These Haitians are wild. Eating pets, vudu, nastiest country in the western hemisphere, cults, slapstick gangsters…but damned if they don’t feel all sophisticated now, filing charges against our President and VP. All these thugs better get their mind right and their *ss out of our country before January 20th.” 

After an outcry, Higgins took the post down. According to House speaker and fellow Louisiana Republican Mike Johnson, who called Higgins a “very principled man,” Higgins took it down after he “prayed about it.” Johnson seemed unconcerned about his colleague’s racism, saying, “we believe in redemption around here.” 

But in a statement, House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) called Higgins’s statement “vile, racist and beneath the dignity of the United States House of Representatives. He must be held accountable for dishonorable conduct that is unbecoming of a Member of Congress. Clay Higgins is an election-denying, conspiracy-peddling racial arsonist who is a disgrace to the People’s House. This is who they have become. Republicans are the party of Donald Trump, Mark Robinson, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Clay Higgins and Project 2025. The extreme MAGA Republicans in the House are unfit to govern.” 

On Monday, Dan Gooding of Newsweek reported that although Trump said on September 18 he would go to Springfield, he will not. Republican Ohio governor Mike DeWine had warned that the local community would not welcome a visit from the former president. 

Republican politicians and candidates, including Trump, embraced North Carolina gubernatorial candidate and current lieutenant governor Mark Robinson, who trumpeted the extremists’ MAGA narrative. The September 19 revelation by CNN reporters Andrew Kaczynski and Em Steck that Robinson had boasted on a pornography website that he considers himself a “black NAZI!”, would like to reinstate slavery, and would like to own some people himself, and shared the sexual kinks in which he engaged with his wife’s sister prompted most of his campaign staff to resign. 

Andrew Egger of The Bulwark reported today that on a different online forum, Robinson called for a political assassination as well as making racist attacks on entertainer Oprah Winfrey and former president Barack Obama. Robinson has called all the information released about him “false smears” and has said “[n]ow is not the time for intra-party squabbling and nonsense,” but declined help tracking down those he claims falsified his online comments. Today, multiple media outlets reported that top staff in Robinson’s government office are stepping down.  

Reality hit hard this week in Texas, too, where U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Christopher Lopez yesterday approved the auctioning off of conspiracy theorist Alex Jones’s media business, the aptly-named InfoWars. Jones insisted that the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting  was a “hoax” designed to whip up support for gun restrictions, and that the grieving parents were played by “crisis actors.” Juries found Jones guilty of defaming the families of the murdered children and causing them emotional distress. 

The auction of his property will enable the families to begin to collect on the more than $1 billion the jurors determined Jones owed them for his reprehensible and harmful behavior.

What Is Anarchism?

Anarchy is a social political philosophy that believes all hierarchies lead to exploitation and, therefore, must be negated and rejected.

Hierarchy is often defined as a pyramid system, with a group at the top, and everyone else organized under and to the bottom. Those at the top with the most authority, who strip away power from those below them. A hierarchy can mean many different things, and anarchist seek to oppose them all. Examples are social forms of domination such as white supremacy and racism, the patriarchy and misogyny, xenophobia, colonialism, queerphobia, etc. As well as economic systems such as class and capitalism, and the positions within them such as cops, landlords, bosses and politicians. Including but not limited to governments, states, and social political means of authority.

Anarchists seek a world where people freely associate with each other and build connections to help each other and their communities, in a multitude of ways. From workers unions to individual association and gift economies.

Anarchists most commonly advocate for Communism, a stateless, moneyless, classless society, but there are anarchists who believe in anti-capitalist free market styles of trade (called Mutualism).

Commonly, the media portrays anarchy as an ideology of indiscriminate violence and warlording, to propagandize civilization into believing we need to be commanded to be safe. Anarchists believe in communication, in transformative means of justice, in seeking peace when at all possible over violence.

However, this does not mean the Anarchist is passive. To resist domination is self defense, and anarchists believe in the right to defend yourself as needed.

A common phrase is "Anarchy is order, Government is Chaos", which some anarchists embrace while others reject. We are a part of those who reject it. Order is controlled, contained, and caged. Chaos is unbridled, free, and liberating. There is beauty in the Chaos, there is beauty in decentralization, of people organizing communities in their own ways not due to following any sort of Order, but because it is what's best for their community. Anarchy means a diversity of tactics. Anarchy means everyone doing what they can. Anarchy means doing what fits for each situation and community, not one answer fits all without nuance. This is not always ordered, that is to be embraced.

Anarchists believe in landback, anarchists believe in abolishing borders and the means of private and public property. Anarchists believe in the freedom of movement and the respect of nature. Anarchists believe we are not better than nature, humans are not better than the world, but do not get confused and think Anarchim means humans are a negative to the earth. Humans are a part of the earth, just like the plants and every other living being. We are here to live and respect nature, that doesn't mean at the expense of human life like what is advertised in Eco Fascism.

Anarchists are anti-capitalists and anti-fascists, always. Capitalism and Fascism are blood dripped hierarchies, antithetical to Anarchism at its core, and any 'anarchist' claiming to be for Capitalism and / or Fascism is no Anarchist, but an enemy.

Currently I feel a bit ashamed and disabled. I'm definitely in a burnout-type of state. Actively tired/brain foggy, feeling weird and having body aches.

Finally someone came to give the window a temporary update so that it can be opened. I don't feel happy about this??? It just feels foreign and scary. And the whole process has been so so triggering.

I got apologies three times this week, from the people involved.

And somehow that just makes it hurt more. I fucking predicted this situation and I tried everything in my power to get it fixed and it still took more than 6 months. It reminds me so much of being with my father.

He never apologized to me, of course. Or, well, one time when he was two hours late to come get me and I broke my collar bone. He still says that it was his fault. And yet his guilt and apologies do not make me feel better either. I may be broken.

The landlord stuff just makes me want to cry. It also reminds me of when I got bullied in school and I felt increasingly broken. I am missing a key-component of being human: the ability to protect myself, to show my teeth. Sometimes it feels like I don't have claws, I don't have teeth like other people do.

So even today, I befriended the handyman that neglected me. It's survival 101, isn't it? Befriend your enemy, make them care about you. If you cannot fight, befriend.

Fuck that shit. Fuck the migraine I got, fuck the changes I seem to take so hard, like the new supervisor at work. And even the window now being openable feels so Wrong. I may be autistic after all, or just traumatized, or just weird. Who even knows at this point... I wish I could talk to T, but I also don't, because I have no energy left to explain myself and guide other people towards being helpful.

I also had a low-key job interview thing going, where they forgot to call me - TWICE. I literally got stood up twice. And yes, they apologized as well. It just... it feels bad. I don't know if I'm responding in the right ways so that there is less of a chance of it happening again.

My colleague also left a ton of work to me, without asking me if I'd be OK with it. It's probably not on purpose, but that's another meh thing.

Well, I'll be fine. It seems like all of this is this level of overwhelming just because I did too many things last weekend! And that's another thing I feel pissed about. I wish I could be like a normal person and I could do things without becoming *this* exhausted. I keep comparing myself to some autistic friends I have and they are able to do so much more and it feels a little unfair sometimes. That's what makes me feel so disabled. I hate that I'm stuck within myself. I'll make the most of it, but I can't escape needing to accommodate myself and skipping out on a lot of normal/fun experiences.

Quite a few people have been asking me why I'm not doing a PhD and well, there it is. I'd need so many accommodations that it really isn't realistic. I'm not cut-out for that workload.

So here I am, listening to ASMR for some hours lying under a blanket on my carpet. Lucky that I can do something like that. Worrying a bit about how I'm going to cope without exercizing, since I found out that I injured myself last week. Ironically, I injured myself while doing PT exercises..!

When I forced myself to go into work again last night, it was like a switch flipped and I was completely fine. I liked how it felt, that I could be functional in that moment, but it does also sound a bit like dissociation...

Sakuya: (The color of the stairs for this apartment... The front door... The rough walls... I feel like I know them well.)

Landlord: I'm the landlord. Do you want to move in?

Sakuya: No, actually, I lived in this apartment when I was little...

Sakuya: In room 101, probably around 15 years ago...

Landlord: Are you, by any chance, Sakuma's child?

Sakuya: Y-Yes! I'm Sakuya Sakuma!

Landlord: I see, I see, you've gotten bigger. It’s freezing out here today. Let's go on up.

Landlord: Where do you live now?

Sakuya: I am currently working as a stage actor in Tokyo.

Sakuya: I came back to the city where I was born for the first time because I wanted to know more about my roots, which I neglected to see up to now.

Landlord: I see. Your father and mother must be happy.

Sakuya: Were you already living here at the time?

Landlord: I did. I know a lot about you. I even changed your diapers.

Landlord: I knew both your mother and father well too. They kept saying how cute you were.

Landlord: The three of you would take walks here and there, always together. You were a happy, laughing baby.

Landlord: Once though, you once had a fever in the middle of the night. The two of them carried you and walked to the hospital in the snow...

Landlord: You were truly loved.

Sakuya: ——.

Sakuya:  Oh, right! I was wondering... Did my parents ever tell you about the origin of my name?

Landlord: Ah, I remember. Sakuya Sakuma, together with  your last name, is "Sakurasaku'' or when "cherry blossoms bloom".

Sakuya's Mother: This town is famous for being the last place in Japan to see cherry blossoms bloom.

Sakuya's Mother: The declaration of blooming, the latest in Japan, is a symbol of hope that spring has reached all of Japan after a long, long winter.

Sakuya's Father: Like the cherry blossoms, a special flower that everyone in this town looks forward to blooming.

Sakuya's Father: Even if this child is a slow bloomer, I want him to become the kind of person who can bloom the flower of his dreams in full bloom at the very end.

Sakuya's Father: That's our dream.

Sakuya: ——Guh.

Landlord: Winter in this town is extremely harsh and cold. That's why it's so important for spring to arrive late.

Landlord: Has spring come in your life?

Sakuya: ...Yes. I can proudly say that this is the spring of my life.

Landlord: Well, I just remembered one more thing.

Sakuya: (This is where my mom and dad used to take me...)

Sakuya: (It's a place I've seen many times in my dreams. I've finally come here.)

Sakuya: ——.

Sakuya: (I have so many emotions swirling around me that I feel like I'm about to explode. I just want to talk to someone. I want to convey this feeling――)

Izumi: "Hello?"

Sakuya: Oh, hello, Director! I reported this on LIME, but I've just come to the town where I was born.

Izumi: "I saw."

Sakuya: When I went to the apartment where I lived, the landlord remembered me from when I was little.

Sakuya: I also learned a lot about my parents before they passed away.

Sakuya:  And I was able to rent a stove and a guest futon and stay in my old room—

Izumi: "I see... That's really nice."

Sakuya: Also, I asked about the origin of my name...

Izumi: "I see."

Sakuya: I— My dad and mom really did live here. I finally have something solid to connect me to them...

Sakuya: There's only one thing I wanted to say to my parents. Thank you for giving me this name.

Sakuya: I'm sure that the reason I'm able to see the theater I love and meet the people I love now is because of the name my father and mother gave me.

Sakuya: The truth is, I was scared about what if I'd come to this town where I was born and no one remembered me or my parents, and I'd have no clues about what happened back then...

Sakuya: I used to want to yell at my parents in heaven, asking them why they left me, telling them how lonely I was, and how I felt like I couldn't do it anymore.

Sakuya: But in the end, I have nothing but gratitude to my father and mother.

Sakuya: No matter how late I bloomed, I was able to bloom on stage with  you and the others because it was a really hard, painful, and difficult winter.

Sakuya: Spring has come in my life too. All I can say is thank you to my parents.

Izumi: “Thank you so much for meeting me.”

Izumi: "Would you please tell this to your parents? Thank you for letting us meet Sakuya and this company."

Sakuya: ...I will definitely tell them.

There is like a two-person audience for it but I’m still thinking of modern Taipei atla lmao???

Zuko is half-Taiwanese (his mom is from Tainan but his dad is a famous Japanese businessman). He’s run away from home w Iroh so they live in a little place in like Sanchong or st bc it’s really the only area they can afford

Iroh owns a bubble tea shop that’s quite reputable in the community but it’s really no big deal at all bc there’s thousands of them around

Meanwhile Azula lives w her dad in that corkscrew apartment building by Taipei 101. You know, the one that EVERYONE knows houses all the rich and famous ppl in town and has a specific elevator dedicated to bringing your car up to your living room

Sokka and Katara are Indigenous Taiwanese, maybe Paiwan or Yami? They came to the city for college but stuck around. Sokka works at a math cram school and Katara works in a medical clinic. Her dad is super proud!

They live in Ximen with Suki who does ballroom and is a personal trainer by day. She’s Sokka’s ex AND Katara’s ex lollll

Aang originally came from Nepal to study in college but he stuck around to work for a big international NGO. He has a big sheepdog Appa and Momo is a cat. It’s a nightmare for his landlord. He lives in Da’an near the park, which is great to give Appa space to play

Toph is Chinese. She grew up in Xinyi with her parents, rich Chinese businesspeople who moved permanently to Taiwan right before Toph was born. She ran away from home during college and is living with Aang right now

Hey, I reaaally love all your meta analysis, especially the one on Aziraphale's morality. You truely have a wonderful writing style! And you expressed the feelings I had about the S2 finale I couldn't put into words and had me in tears again. I never really believed in the coffee theory (although a part of me hoped for it since it would be way less painful). But there is one thing I can't wrap my head around. The coffee theory is partly supported by the final scene of Aziraphale in the elevator and his creepy smile. Even when he looks forward to his new position and is convinced he does the right thing, I can't believe he wouldn't smile like that (and Michael Sheen is to talented for it being am accident). He still lost his soulmate Crowley, he still had to give up the life he loved so dearly and we know how much he struggled with that in the first place talking to Metatron. So why this smile, which aside from that, really did not look like him? I fear, that his memories were wiped out in this elevator. But since you have so a great understanding of Aziraphale's character, I would like to know your theories about that? Thanks a lot!!

Thank you so much for your kind words, @sabotage-on-mercury (truly means the world to me). Honestly, the creepy smile was one part of the ending I couldn't quite put my finger on either, until someone pointed out on a Twitter response to my meta:

The reason why its scary is bc azi is becoming properly angry at the system and is 101% determined to set things right (Source)

In season 1, Aziraphale was determined not to kill anyone to stop the Apocalypse. He wouldn't even tell Crowley where the Antichrist was, because Crowley's only solution was to kill him.

And because Crowley consistently didn't have any ideas ("not one single better idea??"), Aziraphale took it on himself to pursue the only option left––to ask God to intervene and stop both Heaven and Hell from destroying Earth. Therefore, Aziraphale had to keep the integrity of his angel status by distancing himself from Crowley, while the world was still in danger.

Despite this dedication avoid bloodshed, when God didn't have an answer, Aziraphale went against one of his core beliefs to help save the world. He was willing to murder a child.

For Aziraphale, that takes guts. And (seeing how he reacted at the end of the Job minisode), I wonder that if he had killed Adam Young, Aziraphale would have checked himself into Hell.

Going to Heaven for Aziraphale is ultimately a conscious choice, one that he is clearly afraid of. We see him constantly steeling himself again the Metatron in the end, covering his fear and hurt from losing Crowley with a placid smile and a flippant attitude. He's wearing so many masks, to Crowley, to himself, to the Metatron...

All season we've seen him playing roles (detective, magician, doctor, landlord). But the final role is warrior. Going up that elevator, we first see Aziraphale's eyes searching, worried, panicking, but unable to show it because he's not in a safe space. He swallows, blinks, he's breathing hard (you can see his entire shoulders rise and fall).

But as he goes up, his expression steels. He's quite literally putting on a mask (to himself): a vengeful, hardened expression of pure anger and rage (to drown out the fear and uncertainty he so clearly still has).

Cuz this isn't just him scrambling to kill a kid, this is him walking calmly and knowingly into sacrificing everything he loves most (Crowley, the bookshop, his entire life on earth) to create a world that will always be safe for him and Crowley and humanity for the rest of time. Where he would have to go up against the most powerful angels, the Metatron, and God Themself to change things. He can't be the kind, sweet angel he was on Earth. That won't cut it in Heaven if he wants to make a difference in any real way.

He wanted to do it with Crowley, with the love and support and strength of his demon. But without him, Aziraphale has to channel something else to keep his resolve afloat.

Something he had when he was a warrior, fighting on the front lines of a battle between Heaven and Hell, when he very likely led a platoon into divine fields of bloodshed before the earth was born. When he was an avenging angel.

I haven’t done this since the Great War.

It was a time and an identity he had chosen to leave behind, because it wasn't the kind of angel he was anymore ("I'm not fighting in any war!"). In this context, you can read Aziraphale's passionate unwillingness to take a life (his pacifism) directly into his past experience as a warrior. It is often the veterans of terrible wars who are the most earnest advocates for peace. (And especially in Britain and Europe, where the violence of the world wars is still such a powerful and painful national memory.)

As he goes up the elevator, he's breathing so hard we can hear it mirrored in the soundtrack, and he is so hyperfocused on steeling himself that he doesn't even care that the Metatron is watching him. He doesn't rest until he's psyched himself into that warrior mindset necessary to carry out this mission entirely by himself, to be both the moral advocate and the uncompromising leader of angels who had intimidated him his entire life. To demand respect and to talk to the very face of God and tell Them they are Wrong.

That creepy smile is clearly not there because Aziraphale is happy to fall into a toxic parent's false love. There's no comfort or wistful nostalgia in that face. There's no "it'll be so much nicer" in that smile. It's not a happy smile. It's an I'm-gonna-fuck-shit-up smile.

Because it's a warrior's smile before they go into battle, before they put on that armor and, for a while, become something they're not in the name of some greater good. He's fucking furious and it's downright frightening.

Because I have no doubt that the angel Aziraphale we get in Season 3 is the angel Aziraphale who can say this:

He's not there yet in the TV show. But this bravery, this anger, this flaming rage is how it starts.

Or as he's described in the book when Aziraphale mysteriously does away with the local mafia:

Just because you’re an angel doesn’t mean you have to be a fool.
