redesigning Jesture's dream lady who turned out to be her 3000 year old (hopefully adopted) daughter and also the current leader of the evil empire that's largely responsible for making the setting a hell scape :)) (this is what happens when you give your character memory lost and let your dm write your past, it do be kinda hype though) giving her the tarot card of The High Priestess for now, don't know enough about her to make a definitive call but feel like it summarizes her relationship to Jesture well. The scared knowledge, subconscious mind and withdrawal most of these do more with how Jesture sees her or with how Jesture (seemingly) withdrew from her relationship to Marion and forget her family to live in The Bucklands forever until she was forced back by a still unknow source

Okay okay, so... who, out of everyone you know about rn is your favorite? (Fleetfoot is included, Fleetwood is adorable)
Thank you for such a great question!
I love a lot of things about so many characters, & am really enjoying getting to know them in my first read of the Throne of Glass series (so it changes a lot)ā€¦ Honestly, Fleetfoot might be my most consistentšŸ˜‚favoritešŸ˜Š, I donā€™t think any character can ever be betteršŸ„¹???
ā€” Especially as in a world of such prejudice Fleetfoot loves every person for who they are (including Archer; who she does not love; because who he is sucksšŸ¤£). ā€” She doesn't care that Dorian has magic she stays with him until Celaena can come back, she follows Celaena into the woods on the 10 year marker of "Aelin's dark day" just to sit with her. ā€” She also defends Celaena from the monster even while injured herself she wouldn't let them hurt her person.
She was the outcast of the litter, the "underdog" and became the bravest hulking wolf of them all.
Fleetfoot serves as the ā€œsave the catā€ for both Celaena in showing her disgust at the idea of calling a dog a burden to be rid of because of a shy temper and at not liking humans after they stole it from its mother (which also speaks a lot to her, as if Fleetfoot is her Abraxos style ā€œspirit animalā€) while showing even the Assassin has moral lines. While also giving Dorian the chance to ā€œsave the catā€ or in this case the dog. She even heavily serves as a plot telling device such as recognizing Nehemia from beyond the veil. More than that she becomes a beloved by all characterā€¦ as you can see by this very dramatic explanation. Also Iā€™m just a sucker for dogs & golden retrieversšŸ˜‚
Otherwise (sry this is gonna ramblešŸ˜‚): if ya want more
+ Iā€™d love to hear yours if you want to share: so, who are your favs/fav?šŸ˜ƒ
I really want to learn more about Aedion because his relationship to Celaena thus far in HoF heavily reminds me of my siblings (and normally makes me cry because of it). I want Celaena to come to know that kind of love, and I already love Aedion for it.
Dorian really astounds me in his character ā€” I mean that word literally & in phrase ā€” he is a good man, he consistently shows it, and I give him props for being such a healthy emotional male character in a YA series.
Of course I have to mention our main gal Celaena / Aelin; thereā€™s a lot to love. First Iā€™d say the tropes she breaks (reminding me of a Nesta/Feyre mix of leading female perspective book traits) which I really appreciate. ā€” She is tough, she is a warrior, she is not a damsel; she also loves makeup, and fancy dresses, and wishes to dance; she can be entranced by the romantic fantasy of just being normal. She is not equated to her love interests alone but she does love many and remains quite a loveable character within her resilience; as most of them come to say & bring to further light as well. She is fiery in all she does, there is something beautifully magically brave & empowering in that.
Sam Cortland will always get a shoutout because I will always love him.
Chaol used to be on this list and still isnā€™t off it but itā€™s complicated; I can say though I wish he didnā€™t take pieces of what he dreams people to be and try to make them fit that mold, he does apologize from it come to recognize it learn and try to do better. I genuinely believe he loves Dorian and Celaena (which doesnā€™t fix everything but does mean something); that he is a good man who just wants to do the right thing; heā€™s still a young kid. And so, he hasnā€™t lost me yet.
Rowan has entered where he will stay in the list of favs forever & ever ā€œto whatever endā€.
Emrys right now (& probably always) has my heart; I love a good loving character who makes everyone soup and tells stories. Give me a Hagrid, Chiron, kinda character any day. One that makes them feel at home; strangers, friends, foes, legends alike. Calls them out when theyā€™re an idiot, and welcomes them with open arms after every exhausting dayā€¦ Heā€™s just good and kind.
And after a recent HoF chapter (some might say THE HoF chapter) Lady Marion deserves a mention & round of applause; mad respect, absolute adoration; the true hero; a mothers love. The way it made me cry at the love of a mother, the way I love my littles, etc.
P.S. for ACOTAR itā€™s probably Feyre, Nesta, Gwyn, Rhys, Azrielā€¦ also the house if it counts? lol šŸ˜‚

Propaganda
Marion Davies (Show People, the Patsy)ā€” JUSTICE FOR MARION DAVIES. I am always so upset when I learn that some people STILL think she was some untalented pretty face who was only a success because of her relationship with Hearst. Please watch literally any of her movies, silent or sound, to see how untrue this is. She was successful in spite of Hearst's constant meddling. She really shines as a comedienne. Just watch her imitate other silent stars in The Patsy, or her screwball antics in Show People. I've watched so many silents just for her, but she was also really good in sound films, too, like Blondie of the Follies. She's absolutely adorable, and she deserves to be recognized for her talent, alone.
Rita Hayworth (Gilda, Cover Girl)ā€”Absolutely, drop-dead gorgeous. She steals every movie sheā€™s in; she was Fred Astaireā€™s favorite dance partner, as you can see in clips from their movies [link][link]. Born Margarita Carmen Cansino, Rita's story had its tragediesā€”her father was awful and had her performing in nightclubs way, way too young; the studio totally remade her look because they were afraid of her hispanic image, putting her through painful treatments and diets; she had a string of failed marriages. But beside all that, I think there's something about Rita that still glows throughā€”an inner beauty that has nothing to do with the studio, or the men who pinned their dreams on her. Rita brings an incandescence to roles that's impossible to replicate, and was truly a great actress in that she could switch from herselfā€”shy Margaritaā€”into a bold and glamorous femme fatale so convincingly everyone fell in love with her as Gilda. She's my favorite movie star, and I think she was a beautiful human through and throughā€”Rita, gorgeous and real and shining bright.
This is round 3 of the tournament. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.

the queen of comedy

Ā If anyone is looking for a tragic infamous funny fav, this is your girl! She came from a catholic convent to become a showgirl! As many of these early Hollywood stars, she fell victim to falling in love with the wrong man. She had a long lasting affair with a older powerful married man, William Hearst. Their story was so iconic and scandalous that it is largely what inspired Citizen Kane. She gained her fame through him, which eventually gathered her the reputation of being social-climbing and taking advantage of more her looks than her talent. This made her controversial, which wasn't helped by her flirty fun personality and attitude towards other actors (including Charlie Chaplin). All of this hate meant that she was eventually ostracized by Hollywood and even blamed for Hearst's death. My poor girl was excitable, funny, charismatic, energetic, and extremely talented. I believe that at her heart and soul, she was truly a clown. She possesses an incredible gift for mimicry, a deceptively animate face, and an absence of on-screen ego that allows her to throw herself into anything, no matter how foolish or potentially embarrassing, with all of her considerable energy. And it's those ridiculous moments that are almost always her best in film, because to me, that's really who she was. She was silly and sweet and so so so so so funny! And she deserved better than the tragedy of the life she got.

Do you need any other propaganda? Hereā€™s the video.
youtube
She was not called "the love goddess" for nothing: beautiful, glamorous, despite playing sexy and provocative roles her inherent shyness somehow also would shine through sometimes, creating this contradictory and incredibly attractive image
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Often played "the bad girl" who tempted the male hero away from "the good girl"; but did have roles that broke her out of that mold. She was also the inspiration for Jessica Rabbit. THE pinup girlie.

HELP
youtube
She was soo beautiful when she was young and she MAINTAINED that beauty into her later years and I think that old lady glamour is hot. bombastic sex appeal
Tumblr media
every line she delivers in gilda is so flirty and passionate or absolutely desolate and it's so good

I just have a lot of feelings about her

Aelin leaned against the stone wall, hands sliding into her pockets. Nothing human in her face. Though Elide marked the way her hands, even within their confines, shifted.
Bound in irons. Battered.
Only weeks ago, it had been the queen herself in Vernon's place.
And now it seemed she stood here through sheer will.
Stood here, ready to pry the information from Vernon, for Elide's sake.
It strengthened Elide enough that she said to her uncle, "Your breaths are limited. I would suggest you use them wisely."
"Ruthless." Vernon smirked. "The witch-blood in your veins ran true after all." She couldn't stand it. To be in this room with him. To breathe the same air as the man.

Earlier this year, I installed the Adata M.2 SSD into my gaming tower and it's been a game-winner. I uploaded all of my iPad Pro MP3's into it for easier access, along with my gaming and pinball emulation as well.
I always complained that I never have time to reach back and listen to my music purchases, and been wanting to digitize most of my physical library for a long time now. So, I finally buckled and bought me this Crucial SSD. This obsessive-compulsive music archivist now has another one-year life project that'll drive himself up a wall. I'll be high-speed uploading everything and at 320 kbps, so I'll have an easier time saving it all and in high-quality with zero effort. This dream is one long flight closer to reality.
I also have a few hundred VHS tapes that badly need digitizing before further remanence decay ruins them forever, along with a few hundred data disks needing to be backed up to avoid possible permanent bit-rot. I'll be summoning the spirit of Marion Stokes to help get me through when the time comes.
