Just like crime inspires crime or suicide inspires suicide, good deeds inspire good deeds. DO GOOD AND TALK ABOUT IT! Its not bragging, dont worry. And even if it was, whats so bad about it? You can truly brag about doing good. I know intention can be important but ultimately, if its harmless at least, the person receiving the act doesnt really care what your motivation was. To push your own ego? Rightfully so!
All this to say, gimme 100k money, please, thank youuuu <3

5/13 2:25 pm
Itās the day after Motherās Day and Iām catching up on work I didnāt do last week.
By ācatching upā I of course mean scrolling this damn website.
Iām trying to read an essay/post a friend of a friend made about war and hope and the collapse of empire when a mom and her kid walk by.
āIsnāt that a HUGE, BEAUTIFUL tree?ā She exclaims to the kid. Heās holding her free and as they walk, her other hand is busy pushing a stroller full of wiggling onsie-covered feet. His green backpack is as big as he is.
āLook at that tree! WOW! Itās so big!ā
And theyāre gone.
It was rainy and cold most of the day yesterday and today itās sunny and bright. I can hear the birds in the gutters and further off in the neighborhood. My cat is asleep on the bed behind me. She follows me everywhere. When Iām at work, she sleeps on the couch in the living room.
Next week, Iāll be in Ireland with my mom, exclaiming at wonders alongside her, keeping the thoughts of war and hope and the collapse of empire to myself while we learn about the colonized land our family is from. While I meet more of my new family. While she and I pretend we donāt disagree about war and hope and the collapse of empire.
I just want to hold her hand and say, wow, look at that huge beautiful tree. How old it must be, how young we are, how big we are now. Look how things grow, look how they endure. Doesnāt the wind moving through the leaves make you feel beautiful?

Rafah is a massive shelter with children and elderly unable to evacuate
Feb 12th 2024, 00:15 GMT
Tareq Abu Azzoum, reporting from Rafah in southern Gaza Strip
The Israeli army has been saying that thereās no victory without invading Rafah and dismantling the military capabilities of Hamas movements here.
But the civilians here are very concerned and this has triggered wide-scale condemnation among different international organisations and states in the region about the disastrous potential consequences.
Specifically, right now Rafah has become a massive shelter for more than 1.9 million Palestinians.
Evacuation centres and makeshift camps have been established recently alongside the borders of Egypt, which will absolutely pose a new significant threat also for Egyptian national security.
And letās be very aware about the dangerous humanitarian catastrophe that will result if that military incursion happens, specifically among children and among elderly people who are unable to easily evacuate the city as Israel has claimed.
What is happening in Gazaās Rafah as Israel threatens to attack?
Feb 12th 2024, 00:30 GMT
More than a million Palestinians are trapped at Gazaās southernmost point, with the Israeli army preparing a ground attack.
But what is Rafah and what are the details around this announced Israeli āoperationā?
Palestinian Rafah is 64sq km (25sq miles) and, as Israel assaulted Gaza these past four months, more and more people have been herded into it by Israeli forces who keep promising safety āfurther southā ā which never materialised.
People are in dense clusters in the limited space not filled with debris or being bombed by Israel. Conditions are dire, with severe shortages.
You can read more here.

At least 11 people killed by Israel airstrikes on Rafah: reports
Feb 12th 2024, 00:57 GMT
Our Al Jazeera Arabic colleagues are reporting that Israeli air strikes in Rafah have killed at least 11 people and injured many more.
Local media is reporting that two mosques were targeted in the north and central parts of the city in southern Gaza. The injured have been transferred to the Kuwaiti Hospital.
We will bring you further updates on this story when we have them.

Qinat Be'eri (A Lamentation for Be'eri) by Yagel Haroush
youtube
Yagel Haroush is a singer, a kamancheh and ney player, a poet, a composer of piyutim (traditional religious songs) and a teacher of Middle Eastern music. After completing his studies at the Jerusalem Academy of Music, Yagel earned a masterās degree in philosophy at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, and was awarded the Daoud Al-Kuwaiti Scholarship for musical excellence. Yagel specializes in performing and composing music based on maqam, the Middle Eastern modal system. He studied the Persian form of maqam, known as dastgah, with Prof. Piris Eliyahu and his son Mark Eliyahu, and Arab maqam with Prof. Taiseer Elias. As a child, he absorbed the liturgical poetic tradition of the Moroccan piyut (religious song) at his grandfatherās home in the southern Israeli city of Dimona, where every Shabbat, a group of paytanim (composers and singers of piyutim) would gather. Later, he delved into the secrets of the baqashot (āsupplicationsā), a Sephardic mystical singing tradition practiced by Moroccan Jews. Yagelās ensemble, Shir Yididot, performs original reinterpretations of this tradition that situate the baqashot within the broader context of Middle Eastern mystical song. The group released its debut album in 2016. Yagel is also the founder of the Study Center for Makam and Piyut, where he teaches composition and performance, as well as theoretical performance studies based on Jewish sources ā philosophy, Kabbalah and Midrash. He also founded the School of Oriental Music in the Negev in the town of Yeruham, and Kedem, a school for composition in the spirit of maqam in Jerusalem.
Qinat Beāeri was written by Yagel Haroush in the month of Marįø„eshban after the massacres on 7 October and disseminated on social media. (The text of the qinah here is as shared on the websiteĀ KipaĀ on 7 January 2024.) The initial English translation and notes was shared by Yosef Goldman and Josh Fleet. (These notes were very lightly edited for clarity.) On Tishah bāAv, a second English translation was offered by Dr. Susan Weingarten. āAharon Varady
Eikhah [1]Ā ā Alas! my well [2] has turned into my grave. And the day of my light [3] has become my darkness And all fruit has been destroyed and my singing overturned. My eyes pour forth water [4] from the depth of my brokenness.
EikhahĀ ā Israel on a day of calling to God. Life was requested but chaos received Elder and infant wallow in blood. [6] His festival desecrated by a merciless enemy. My eyes pour forth water from the depth of my brokenness.
EikhahĀ ā mothers, girls, and young women Taken into captivity as in the days of pogroms And fences were breached righteous sheep And the dancing ceased and the songs of my singers My eyes pour forth water from the depth of my brokenness
AndĀ eikhahĀ ā I wonder, you who enobled her ā How long shall a nation live in upheaval How long shall her stature be brought low to the ground And now, arise to kindle my lamp [7] And from the wellsprings of your mercy heal my brokenness And my eye [8] that pours forth will water Beāeri
The opening word of the Book of Lamentations, ā××××ā ā translated as āalas!ā or āhow?!?ā ā is often used in Jewish poetry of lament ā įø³innot ā that memorialize the Jewish people, from the liturgy for mourning the Templeās destruction to today.
Beāeri means āmy well.ā [Beāeri here also refers toĀ Kibbutz Beāeri, the site of one of the massacres that took place on 7 October 2023. ā ANV]
A reference to the festival of Simįø„at Torah on which the massacres took place. In TaNaKh and Rabbinic literature, Torah is compared to both light and water. āFor the commandment is a lamp, the teaching of Torah is a lightāĀ (Proverbs 6:23) and āA flowing stream, a fountain of wisdomāĀ (Proverbs 18:4). Also findĀ Shir haShirim Rabbah 1:2.
"For these do I weep, my eyes flow with tears; far from me is a comforter who might revive my spirit; my children are forlorn, for the foe has prevailedāĀ (Lamentations 1:16)
i.e. Simįø„at Torah.
FindĀ Ezekiel 15:6, āWhen I passed by you and saw you wallowing in your blood, I said to you: āLive despite your bloodāā¦ā
It is you who light my lamp; YHVH myĀ eloāahĀ lights up my darknessāĀ (Psalms 18:29).
Hebrew, ×¢×× (āayin), means both āspringā and āeye.ā

Boyah
Boyah (plural: Boyat) was subcultural identity of AFAB non-binary,tomboy,demi girl & trans-masculine folks of Persian Gulf. Boyat are asigned female at birth, but express gender atypical behaviour. The origin of this queer subculture is unclear, some boyat claimed that it was started through online forums & groups. [citation needed]
Boyah subculture was more visible in Gulf states (including Kuwait,Oman,Saudi Arabia,UAE,Bahrain). Boyah identity may fall under the modern Transgender and Non-binary umbrella. However some people may considered them as people of forth gender.
Sexuality
Boyat folk's sexuality can be confusing in various cultural contexts. Most of the Boyat had intimate and romantic relationships with cis-girls in their past life, but they do not consider themselves as homosexual.
The term Boyah itself does not mean lesbian in arabic. In later life many Boyat had to pursue a heterosexual marriage & had children.Because marriage is a obligatory in local arabic customs. In addition to this, some boyah were androsexual & interested in boys only.
Culture & Lifestyle
Trans-masculine/tomboys/AFAB non-binary/AFAB genderpunk took the āBoyahā cultural identity in their early adolescence. On the otherhand, some boyat took the male role to challenge societal gender norms and stereotypes in Arabic Gulf States.
In general, a boyah is characterized by no make-up, no feminine expressions, no feminine name, feminine pronouns. In boyah subculture, Boyat community may use a massive masculine watches.Boyat people worn loose-fitting male cloth with a touch of the military, vibrantly coloured dresses, shirts and boyah jeans(which are baggy with big prints all over them). Since the age of internet Arab's boyat community started informal groups, online forums.
Most of the boyat have to lead double lives because gulf states has strict cultural gender roles especially for womxn. Many of them are forced to get married. In general Boyah phenomena is considered a disgrace to an arab family's honour.Additionally atypical gender expression is seems to be indecent and deviant in GCC states. Many boyat face stigma for not adhering with rigid patriarchal gender roles.
After leaving home, many undergo a radical transformation, changing their clothes at school/college or a friend's house. While in transition ,they run no real risk of being caught because, while in public, Emirates women are required to wear the national dress - a long black over-garment called an abaya, which makes it easier to switch roles without drawing attention.
Media
In general, Gulf media portrays queerness in negetive ways. A Boyah named Abeer appeared on the Saudi TV Show āYa Halaā where he/ze said that he/ze was attracted to women while still at school. He/Ze had a complete love relationship with a classmate for a long time. Another person named Hamood joined a show of Radio Sawa where he/ze explained ze was rebelling against social (gender) norms and his/zee familyās restrictions through this boyah phenomena.
On a national television of UAE, a boyah named Bandar openly spoke about his queer relationship with another girl and expressed the desire to marry her and have children with her through IVF. His statement on Abu Dhabi's national television shocked the whole nation.
Decline of Boyah Culture
In the Persian Gulf region, boyah identity became very controversial since 2007. In 2007, the Kuwaiti parliament amended Article 198 of the countryās penal code so that anyone āimitating the opposite sex in any wayā could face up to a year in jail and/or a fine of 1,000 dinars ($3,500). A further problem was that the law made no attempt to define āimitating the opposite sexā So it was basically left to the discretion of the police. Within a couple of weeks at least 14 people had been arrested in Kuwait City & thrown into prison. Boyat made their debut as a public concern in 2008 when Dubai police denounced cross-dressing - its chief, Dahi Khalfan Tamim, called on the Ministry of Social Affairs to find out how widespread the practice is and what causes it.
In 2009, Dubai launched a public campaign under the slogan "Excuse Me, I am a Girl", which cautioned against āmasculineā behaviour among AFAB queers & tomboys and aimed to steer them towards "femininity". The impetus for this was a moral panic which swept through several Gulf states at that time, regarding the Boyah phenomena. 2 months after announcing the campaign the police persecuted 40 people (for their gender atypical expression), imprisoned them for 3 years in jail.In addition, trans-masculine/trans males, trans women,gender-queers were also shamed & abused by the UAE's police team.
Public Attitudes
Many conservative patriarchal arab people see a greater danger in the Boyah subcultural practices; they fear it can become permanent and cause great distress for the women and their families.
Psychiatrist Yousef Abou Allaban says, "It can go extreme, where they change their sex and have an operation.'' Saudi journalist Yousef Al-Qafari said in an interview on Radio Sawa that family disintegration and lack of true love have led women to act like a man. Al-Qafari said education was the best way to tackle this phenomenon. He called on the Ministry of Education to take up this role.
Social worker Nadia Naseer said, āFamilies play an essential role in such cases. Families should monitor their female members, especially when they start acting like men by cutting their hair short, wearing menās clothing, or refusing to wear womenās accessoriesā. She also said, when a girl or woman does this, she is looking for attention & sending a message that she is a boyah.
Saudi writer Randa Alsheikh, in one of her columns, said that she attended a social gathering where she saw a group of females who appeared almost completely like men.āI would not be exaggerating if I say I could not tell the difference between them and men,ā she wrote. She said that they looked, talked and walked like men & āeven worseā some appeared to be in their 40s. We need to quickly address this phenomenon to contain these girls so that they are able to build good families and a healthy society,ā

At least 20 people were killed and 155 wounded by Israeli shelling as they waited for aid in Gaza on Thursday, the Hamas-run health ministry has said.
Israelās military has denied being behind the attack and said it was assessing the incident.
The death toll is expected to rise as casualties are still being transferred to the hospital, according to Mohammad Ghrab, a doctor at the emergency unit at Al Shifa Hospital.
A witness on the scene said dozens of people had died.
Graphic footage from the immediate aftermath of the scene filed by an eyewitness showed multiple people with traumatic injuries as well as pools of blood on a street strewn with rubble and dust.
The health ministry said the incident was āa result of the Israeli occupation forces targeting a gathering of citizens waiting for humanitarian aid to satisfy their thirst at the Kuwaiti roundabout in Gaza.ā
āMedical teams are unable to deal with the volume and type of injuries reaching hospitals in northern Gaza due to weak medical and human capabilities,ā the ministry said.
The attack took place amid a backdrop of extreme hunger and poverty in the besieged enclave due to Israelās severe restrictions on aid entering Gaza, where more than a half a million people are on the brink of famine, according to UN agencies.
The Kuwaiti Roundabout in Gaza City has become known as an area where aid trucks distribute food, attracting crowds of people desperate for supplies.

šØRussia & China veto US UN Security Council ceasefire resolution
The resolution showed a shift: US had vetoed every ceasefire proposal, most recently Algeriaās as the US opposed language of āimmediateā ceasefire, preferring āhumanitarian pauseā. But now the US draft states āthe imperative of an immediate and sustained ceasefireā.
The problem? Itād last only 6 weeks, is conditional on release of Israeli hostages, and condemns both Hamasā op & the Houthi naval blockade. The wording of ādetermines the imperativeā is also weak, implying the importance of a ceasefire, not demanding one.
The result? It wouldnāt obligate Israel to end the genocide + let it continue on the pretext that thereās no āacceptableā hostage deal.
It was vetoed by š·šŗ & šØš³ who said itād let Israel continue attacks & invade Rafah. Algeria also voted against it.
10 states are planning alternative resolution calling for Ramadan ceasefire, including but not conditioned on release of Israeli hostages. US likely to veto.

UNSC CEASEFIRE MOTION PASSES
For the 1st time the Security Council managed to pass a ceasefire resolution. The US abstained while all 14 others voted yes
The US planned to veto if it didnāt mention the hostages so it ādemands an immediate ceasefire for the month of Ramadan respected by all parties leading to a permanent sustainable ceasefire, and also demands the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages.ā
But it doesnāt condition the ceasefire on a hostage swap the way done by the US draft that got vetoed by š·šŗ & šØš³
It doesnāt condemn Hamas explicitly as the US wanted but it ādeploresā all attacks against civilians & āall acts of terrorismā noting that itās illegal to take hostages under intāl law. So itās indirect condemnation
It expresses deep concern āabout the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip,ā calling for more efforts for more aid & to protect civilians. This is weak language
Better than nothing but not enough as people are slaughtered & raped.
