I pointed this out in a Discord server I'm in and thought Id share here:

Bob Iger announced that Disney is going to absorb Hulu, and Hulu will no longer exist next year. All shows will move to the Disney+ app.

Disney also announced they were going to remove shows and movies periodically from their streaming services.

I believe both of these moves are because of the Writers Strike.

Disney knows its going to lose the strike. There is too much public support. Specifically, the WGA is going to win writers getting more residuals from streaming.

So if Disney takes shows off of streaming, they dont have to pay the writers the residuals.

They are going to use excuses like "not enough funding for the server capacity" or "not enough views to warrent keeping the show". These are BULLSHIT. Its all greed. Its only GREED.

Pay attention to what happens in the following weeks.

And keep supporting the writers' strike.

It's still surprising to see people say that when they see the upcoming strike post I made that this is the first time they're hearing about it, especially because I've seen several posts now talking about the same strike.

That being said: regardless of what kind of blog you are, please spread the news about the genocide, the strikes, boycotts, etc.

Even if you are a small blog, spreading word allows for more people to know what's going on and also do their part in protests and strikes, and maybe even the right people will be able to do more than what you're able to do.

And reminder: there is an upcoming strike on February 18th-25th. Prepare accordingly, protest, boycott, call your reps, and spread the word so more people are aware.

noticed a dip in posts about palestine on my dash, so i think it deserves to be said again: palestine is not a trend. caring about genocide is not a trend. there are still reports about humanitarian aid trucks intentionally blocked off from gaza, meaning so many fucking gazans, a big portion of them children, are just bleeding out with no help. it just came out recently that israelis disguised as women and medics infiltrated a west bank hospital, at which point they killed 3 palestinians (whom they claim were militants. right). these people are living day to day without even the most basic utilities. anyone who claims to have “activism fatigue” needs to question why they’re so severely lacking in the most basic forms of compassion. you don’t get to just grow bored of talking about palestine. please never stop calling attention to the genocide happening full force in front of us.

Alright, so there are a lot of people in the notes angry about the last line of this speech, saying that americans are “lazy” for not fighting and protesting more. The consensus seems to be that you can’t call people “lazy” for not protesting a system designed to exhaust them.

I do think the original post is unkind and badly worded. I do think you shouldn’t insult people trying to do their best under a brutal capitalist system.

But.

There are a lot of people saying some variant of “we can’t protest because the system is designed to destroy us”

That is why you have to protest. That is why you have to refuse to play the game. That is why you have to fight the system because it is only going to get worse.

France didn’t get to where they are because they all went to work and politely asked the government to give them healthcare and pensions. They got those things because they fought for them, first in the French Revolution and then in the May 68 strikes. They were fighting under the same sort of system that we’re under. (They’re still under that system, they just managed to make it better for themselves.)

I was at a protest this afternoon, against the rising rent prices in my area. There were cops. We could have chosen not to protest. But that would only allow things to get worse.

I understand it’s scary and dangerous to protest and strike. I understand that the thought of speaking up against capitalism, even just a little, is utterly terrifying.

But if you say, “We can’t protest because the system keeps us down”, then the system has succeeded. We need to keep fighting back.

The rich want to break you. Don’t let them.
