Twins run in the family.

Aaron and Katelyn get married after graduating from Palmetto, before they go off to med school together. It takes them pretty far from Andrew, but they work to keep in touch.

In the last year of their four year MDs, Kate gets pregnant — A happy accident. Then, they find out they're having twins, just, holy fuck. Kate is determined to not let it slow her down, though, because she's a bad bitch. Then Andrew suggests that they move closer to him and Neil once they graduate.

This leads to a few long and difficult conversations. Andrew admits that he would like to see Aaron more and to have a relationship with his nieces. Aaron admits that he does miss Andrew being close by and that they could use the extra support. In the end, they agree after Andrew actually apologies to Katelyn for the way he treated her in the beginning.

No one regrets the decision. Aaron and Katelyn are beyond grateful for the support as they start their careers. Andrew absolutely adores his nieces, more so than he ever thought he could. Neil is happy because Andrew is happy.

But it isn't always easy. It's hard because they both see it; the girls are what Andrew and Aaron could have been if they were never separated. If Tilda had been capable of being a good mother to her twins. And it fucking hurts.

Somehow, this pain leads to Aaron planting a seed in Andrew's mind — What if Andrew and Neil were to start fostering? Andrew thinks his brother has finally lost it. It's ludicrous, insane, impossible, but– Is it? Helping foster kids could be nice, and it's not like they can't stop if it's too much.

Once Neil has his own separate crisis about it, they decide to go for it. Andrew and Neil sure as hell know how not to raise a kid and they have yet to completely traumatise any of the kids in their lives. So a fuck ton of paperwork and hoop-jumping later, they find themselves in a group home to see if there's a kid there they can help.

That's when they find not one kid, but two. Tucked away in a corner they find twin girls, maybe a year younger than Aaron's girls, who only speak Russian. They hadn't intended to jump in at the deep-end like that, but something about them puts Andrew on alert. So they take the girls home with them.

And it is so, so much harder than they had expected. They had only prepped for one kid, but that's easily fixed. It's not so easy to fix the fact that the girls absolutely do not trust them. But Andrew and Neil are persistent; they don't push for trust, but they make sure to prove to the girls that they are safe at every turn.

Slowly, achingly slowly, the girls start to relax. They start to open up. And Andrew realises something so much worse than the pain that got them here.

Andrew realises that his twins are like him and Aaron too, but if Tilda left them both in the system. They are the real life result of his own worst nightmare.

idk about yall but one of my most ever favorite aftg headcanons is that Andrew is really good with kids, and in the future when Aaron and Katelyn settle down and have kids, their kids will absolutely adore "Uncle Andrew", and he'll happily suffer through whatever sort of play the kids want to do with an as genuine and un-menacing smile on his face as he can manage, whenever he and Neil (and Kevin) come to visit

look i love a good kevaaron fic, but whenever they describe aaron's breakup with katelyn i just can't believe it. like, the girl was willing to keep their relationship a secret, support him through a murder trial, and get threatened by his twin brother, all while being a student athlete AND premed? there's no way they're breaking up after all that, she clearly loves him lmao.

anyway katelyn mackenzie is an icon and i can't believe it took us so long to get her last name.

guys guys so like silly thought but au idea so we all know barbie as the princess and the pauper right so there's two ways this au can go

obviously we have the most common that everyone thinks this au could go with Erika being Andrew and Anneliese being Aaron, which would most likely have Julian bing Katelyn and then Dominick being Neil and obviously Anneliese's mother being Nicky instead of tilda and madame carp being idk someone (idk if cass would make sense for that) don't ask me about the cats the cats could very much just be the cats in the movie just changed for the au obviously Bertie would obviously be Renee, nick and nack could be uhh raven players ig, now preminger who to have him be idk riko but that wouldn't make any sense so

the second way this au could go is Erika being Neil and Anneliese being Katelyn yes playing into the massive headcanon that she and he look alike, and I was thinking what if I was to elio be in this au and then it hit me Wolfie could be elio like instead of him being a cat he could be elio (still Neil's kid cuz oh well fuck the movie canon) Dominick would obviously be Andrew and Julian would be Aaron, the Queen would be Katlyns mother, I'm gonna have Bertie be Allison or heck maybe even seth

thinking about the fact that if Neil had died in Baltimore, literally none of Andrew's family would even know he was broken as much as he was by it. Like they saw him choke Kevin, but even after Baltimore, Nicky assumed it was just a fling.

Andrew’s hand on the back of his neck pushes down, and Neil goes easily, tipping his head forward and bending down so Andrew can get a good look at his hair.

Bright, vibrant orange. Too bright to really be comfortable, but Neil is learning to stand out in the crowd. He’s going to have to get used to it some time or other.

Orange. Fox orange, the color of his home and his family. Only a few shades and yet miles from his father’s auburn.

Andrew studies it for a long moment, and Neil lets him look his fill.

Finally, his grip loosens. “Obsessive.”

Neil smirks. “You like it.”

I like Katelyns character for as little perspective of her as we get but it baffles me some ways people chose to write her or characterize her. I guess that comes from how little we actually get to know her but in so many fics I find most interactions surrounding her so out of character.

Especially when they write her and Andrew getting along, and it's not that I don't think they could've reached that point, I just don't think he'd think she was all girlboss and 'i won't get on her badside' I think any respect he grudgingly has for her is built on acknowledging her loyalty to Aaron and how she supports him and is not a threat to him.

Like I don't think he'll ever personally like her but he also doesn't like Nicky or Aaron. Nicky proved himself as family by sticking by, by loyalty. Aaron....got around to it.

Maybe she bakes when he comes around maybe he lets Neil bribe him with that for visits. Andrew is like a cat getting used to people by proximity, respect of boundaries, and tasty treats.

This has derailed. I just don't think he'd let Katelyn boss him and Aaron around Girl Boss style like I see done in fics. He actively butts against that. He does not like when Dan does that shit and he accepted her as a competent captain even if he didn't give a shit about what she thought and exy, he absolutely would react poorly to Katelyn and what she stood for by doing that.

Also I like the characterize that she's very ordinary or just not a Fox but treats them especially Aaron with compassion even when she's scared or doesn't get it. There's strength in doing something while scared and offering a healing hand and space to those you care about and that's what her character is to Aaron (from Neil's perspective ofc)
