It doesn’t bother me too much that Nora said Neil and Andrew never tell each other “I love you”. Yes, personally I would like them to be able to get to that point, even if it wasn’t frequent, but I understand how it fits their characters and I can respect it.

Who do I think about it constantly for though? Andrew and Aaron. I wonder constantly if they could ever say those words to one another. If Andrew could ever hear them and accept them from Aaron, even if he couldn’t say them back. I wonder how much it would mean to Aaron, who struggles to see love through action and clearly craves the verbal validation.

I think clear verbal communication is such a big and important step in twinyards relationship, and them saying “I love you” to one another would kill and resurrect me.

(i'm not kidding. the entirety of the first two books is just both of them saying how interesting the other is. it's suffocating.)

The two first books hold such bangers, and clearly not enough people ramble about them. I'm a sucker for the relationship they have afterwards obviously, but even before that they're hilarious. Many underrated scenes that could be worth drawing.

Also I underestimated how Neil dress and presents himself - like: he wears oversized, worn out and faded, preferably light-colored clothes; messy curlyish hair with bangs; sports hoodies; JORTS-

... He's got a banger style actually.

rereading aftg is so funny like I have a crystal clear image of Andrew in my mind and he's the most handsome guy in the whole series while Aaron looks like a vague shape even though they're identical twins

Aaron doesn't end up on the news anymore in adulthood. He's a doctor and he's not the twin playing Pro Exy. He's very much minding his own business.

A paparazzi corners him and asks a very disrespectful question about Andrew. Aaron is now on the news regarding the very viral video of him cursing out a pap at length. "The Lengths This Minyard Goes To For His Brother" is a popular article - it references the murder trial and makes a case about the pap getting off easy. Fox GC is having a field day.

Andrew dials his line just to call him an idiot.

The revelation that Andrew never told Bee about Neil until Aaron brought him up, because Andrew cares about Bee as both his counsellor and as a trusted 'adult' figure in his life, he cares what she thinks of him and is scared to lose that relationship, and he's seen how Nicky's parents reacted to him being gay, he's watched Aaron react in disgust to Nicky and his comments (although that's been contextualised now), seen how the world in general reacts to queerness, Andrew 'i want nothing' Minyard once again clinging so tightly to the things he wants it's hurting him

i love it when a piece of media is like: is there anything more painful than knowing your sibling? is there anything more tragic than knowing they are the only person who will ever share the same experience as you? they were the only constant in your life. they were there since birth and now, no matter how they betray you, you will still love them. you will always feel the need to protect them even if you can no longer bring yourself to talk to them. will anyone else be able to understand? will anybody be able to love you and hate you and fear you the same way a sibling loves you and hates you and fears you? no, probably not

nicky + the twins headcannons

andrew was a little blindsided by nicky taking custody. after tilda passed, andrew was expecting to go back into the system and he was ready to fight tooth and nail to stay with his brother and keep them both safe, or make luther and maria regret taking them in everyday the twins spent under the hemmick's roof.

andrew gave nicky a really wide berth for a really long time. in his mind, an adult man he doesn't know flies halfway across the world, leaving behind what sounds like a happy life, to get two underage boys alone in a house with him. at first, there's no "this is my cousin, this is my family." he doesn't know this person. he's never known this person. but he knows nicky's father. and andrew doesn't want that person alone with his brother.

neither twin really thought nicky was going to be a good guardian. both were expecting to fend for themselves a lot more than they ended up having to.

nicky spends the first several weeks cataloging every little detail about the twins that he can. aaron likes spicy food, andrew does not. andrew tears all his food into tiny pieces for some reason and aaron eats like a normal human being. andrew has a major sweet tooth. aaron also likes sweets, but prefers salty snacks. both twins always seem to be cold. both twins like to color-code things. both twins are right-handed and have horrific handwriting.

all the twins' teachers tell nicky that the boys are incredibly smart but don't seem to engage with their full potential. andrew excels at english and writing based classes while aaron flourishes in math and science.

nicky bakes a (pretty okay) cake for the twins birthday and presents it at breakfast. it's the first time someone actually bakes aaron a birthday cake.

nicky would purposely say or do things to get negative attention from the twins because he saw the way they would make eye contact across the room/the table when nicky would annoy them. he decides that letting them have a common enemy may help bring them a little closer than making an enemy out of each other.

it's nicky that teaches the twins to drive.

aaron and nicky bond over television shows.

nicky remembers the first time each twin chose to spend time with him. aaron sat down beside him and silently watched the show nicky was finishing. andrew helped nicky clean up the kitchen on their birthday after nicky made them the cake.
