“Grief is a mechanical bull. You can hold on as tight as you can with white-knuckled fists, clenched teeth, and tears biting at your eyes, but you’re destined to lose your grip. You’re going to get thrown. And when you hit the ground, it’s going to hurt like hell. People will try to help you up, tell you it’s okay, encourage you to hop back on and try again. So, you’ll try again, expecting a different result, or at the very least, hope that you can hold on a little tighter this time—stay on a little longer. But you’ll still get thrown. And it will still hurt. I think the key to healing is accepting that your grief isn’t going anywhere, then getting back on the bull anyway. One day, you’ll start to enjoy the ride more than you’ll fear the anticipation of the inevitable fall. I can’t wait for that day.”― Jennifer Hartmann, The Wrong Heart

I’ll be the minority here. I hate when books get a movie or tv adaptation. It’s almost always a major disappointment. It seems like all my favorite books are turning into one.
Happy Place by Emily Henry. First off of all the Emily Henry books they picked this one. Also, it’s being announced in media as YA. This book is very much not a YA novel. I hope they fix that.
Still Beating by Jennifer Hartmann is being made into a movie by passionflix. This is a dark dark romance. This is kidnapping, rape, and a handful of other triggering things. Why on earth would you turn this into a film. This book isn’t for everyone and it’s not an easy read by any means.
Don’t get me started on an ACOTAR movie or series. That’s going to be the biggest clusterfuck and argument the book world will ever encounter.
Not every successful book or TikTok sensation needs to be made into a film. If you want to see characters come to life. 10/10 recommend searching fan art of characters.

“I’m hopelessly, irrevocably in love with you, June Bailey. The desperate, aching kind of love. The kind there’s no coming back from. The kind there’s no way out of. The kind that’s going to be the death of me one day.” Brant
Happy June First!

Older by Jennifer Hartmann is now live!
My Review This book ripped my heart out. From beginning to end, Halley was so strong. I loved that she had such a great friend. This story was forbidden & taboo in all the best ways. Reed fell in love before he could blink. Halley’s nature was to take care of others. This book has shocks and turns you won’t expect. I loved it!

Before he discovered my age, he uncovered my heart.

Bruised and abused, and victim to a loveless household, I shimmered with new life the moment he found me drowning my sorrows in a lake beneath the stars.

A chance encounter. An unspoken connection.

I was smitten; he was curious.

But, as everyone knew, fate could be decidedly cruel.

He called me Halley, like the comet.

I called him Reed.

And my best friend?

Well…she called him Dad.

Older is a forbidden, slow-burn, age-gap romance standalone, ending in a HEA.

June First - Jennifer Hartmann
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“She claimed me like the sunrise claims the morning sky with lightness and blush, promise and wonder. She claimed me like a cyclone, funneling through a quiet town, taking no prisoners. She claimed my good and my bad, my light and my dark. She took my broken, ugly bits and molded them into something worthy of display. She turned my agony into art. June claimed me in a way that could ultimately be defined by a single word: Inevitable.”
It has been a long time since I’ve read a romance, let alone a romance I loved. Perfect slow burn, forbidden love.
*Contains spoilers*
Brant fiercely loves the one girl he can’t have. He was put into this predicament by a choice his father made. After murdering his mom and killing himself, Brant must go live with his moms best friend.
When he does, they have a brand new baby girl. He grows up with, fiercely protective and loving her with all his being. As time goes on, this love evolves. He’s her adopted brother and he starts to love her.
Brant is the man we all want. He wants no one else but June, craves her with all his being. Only wants her to be happy, but despises the thought of her with another man. Wants to murder at the thought of another man touching her.
I looooved this book! Finished in two days, I was addicted to the love story, the tragedies in between, and the love and forgiveness that follows after.

✮ (¸.•´✶ (¸.•` ✮  Catch the Sun by Jennifer Hartmann
Tumblr media
Synopsis:
"Kissing you feels like catching the sun…" At seven years old, Ella Sunbury and Max Manning were inseparable—until life scattered them in different directions, forcing Ella to abruptly leave town. A decade later, she returns for their senior year of high school, moving in across the street from her childhood best friend. But she's not the same girl Max once knew. She now lives in the shadow of her brother: a notorious felon on death row, convicted of a crime that shook the nation. Reeling from the fallout and shunned by her peers, all Ella wants is to fade into the background. Max has little room for distractions, juggling responsibilities for a disabled father and a distant twin brother. But Ella's return reignites something within him. He wants to be close to her again, to understand her…and to turn their friendship into more. But as their relationship blossoms, new tragedy strikes, and darkness threatens to tip their delicate balance. In order to find the light, they'll have to navigate the shadows. And to catch the sun…they must first endure the flames.
