It was a special day in Sunset Valley 🎈
In fact it was Caroline's birthday (again). She turned into a young adult. (I know it goes way too fast. For the next generation, and as soon as I move them into a new world, I'll increase the days for each life stage drastically) 🙏🏼
Ophelia Made brought a baked angel food cake to Caroline's birthday.
Ophelia to Caroline: "You know why I brought the angel food cake? 'Cause you're an angel hehe.."
I'm sorry but I had to. 😂
Happy birthday Caroline 🎁🎉

veilguard’s composers are likely hans zimmer and lorne balfe but i’m really hoping we’ll still get bangers like the entire trespasser soundtrack
#like how you can feel the tension rising from qunari atmosphere > mission > battle#like u already hear how seamlessly they transition into each other is so good. AND THEN it transitions into the dark solas theme#it’s really musically telling the story of the dlc! you can hear undertones of the dark solas theme in the qunari tracks like in the rhythm#like how the dlc starts with the qunari problem. then it turns out solas was already there the whole time#i’m not a classically trained musician so idk any of the technical terms but i can rly go on and on about this ost#trevor morris the man that you are. literally changed the trajectory of my life with this ost#shut up kat

Does anyone know how "2 Broke Girls" was supposed to end? I've got covid, watched the whole thing and it just sort of... stops? Did one of the writers tweet out what they had planned for the next series? It's annoying me

underrated reads of 2024
books I read in 2024 with under 1000 ratings on goodreads // adult fiction
-
Fallen Thorns by Harvey Oliver Baxter
I love calling this book a vampire coming-of-age campus novel and I stand by it. I still need to read the standalone prequel to this world, but I really loved this work.
The Sins On Their Bones by Laura R. Samotin
*physical ARC from the publisher
Shadow and Bone meets FMA: Brotherhood in this dark adult Jewish fantasy about sexual assault, war, and trauma. Definitely a tough read, but again, one I really enjoyed and can’t wait for the sequel of.
Smile and Be A Villain by Yves Donlon
*finished copy from the author
This diverse Hamlet retelling is easily the most underrated book of the year. Especially for a self-pub debut, this was absolutely fantastic. A diverse cast, a rich landscape of politics and religious complexities, a QPR between Hamlet and Ophelia, come on! I’m so excited for this sequel after seeing the way Donlon perfectly laid out threads throughout the book to pull tight into a perfect harmonious tapestry right at the end.
Uncommon Charm by Emily Bergslein and Kat Weaver
Picked this up because I can’t resist a Marlowe Lune cover, and because it’s a mixed genre story with queer and Jewish rep! The title for this book honestly perfectly describes it. It’s complicated and maybe doing too much but its uniqueness is just so charming.
In the Roses of Pieria by Anna Burke
*finished copy from the publisher
Sapphic vampires are always worth anyone’s time and this was such a unique take on them! I don’t think I’ll be continuing the series but I really loved the combo of archival work, fungal horror, and sapphic romance.
All Our Yesterdays by Joel H. Morris
*finished copy from the publisher
A fascinating prequel to Macbeth focusing on Lady Macbeth and her son! Slow paced, but full of interesting themes and ideas that this book explores with tact.
Caraway of the Sea by Madeline Burget
*finished copy from the author
A really sweet self-published pirate story featuring a diverse cast and found family. I enjoyed the writing, and for a self-pub book, I found the work to be quite polished and readable! I loved our MC, Caraway, who is so incredibly snarky and stubborn and guarded, and her journey throughout the story was really compelling.
The Naming Song by Jedediah Berry
*physical ARC from the publisher
A wholly unique theatre kid epic, this was one of my stand-outs of the year. Anyone who loves storytelling should read this book. It’s just so whimsically and completely its own.
Metal From Heaven by August Clarke
*physical ARC from the publisher
I think I’ve raved about this book enough but absolutely the book the world needs right now. This brutal dyke fantasy is straying from the pack and ambitiously crafting its own path, and it pays off. Obsessed.

harrowclare's 2024 reading list
here is the long, long list of my 2024 reads with ratings & dates. because of tumblr's limit on links, i cannot direct to individual reviews. if you would like to view my reviews on their respective sites, you can find them on thestorygraph & goodreads.
dates are listed as month, day. manga volumes that are binged will be grouped so that this list isn't a million miles long, with the range of ratings for the volumes in the stack. a few of these titles were started in 2023, lol whoops! those are the only dates with a year stamp.
wanna read along or chat with me about books? i'm super active on fable.

Would you ever write the dark future fic 👀
honestly yes i kind of want to but the issue is to kind of the scale i want to like i just picture the dark future in not only such a long but also just such a rich and varied timeline. like there is just so much ground that i kind of want to cover from the cupitches being raised with the morris's relatives which for some unknown reason but i'm so committed to the idea of - is set in rural vermont. with sheila's mother. and then nyc for the magical morrises themselves and their connection to p3 and then chris and bianca like obviously. like that's my number one. but also evil wyatt why is he like that and btw i do not want him to be misunderstood, i want him to be Evil. (well that's not quite true. i do want him to be misunderstood. but i also kind of want him to have like no moral compass and feel incredibly chill about doing insane fucked up things. like he is a diva. he murders people in fucked up and disturbing and clever ways in order to send messages everything is always about his image and how he projects this supreme leader indestructible kind of thing.) the rebel party and how that operates through different ranks through leadership like chris and kat down to the mortals who now play in a world were magic is known not only to be real but to be under the constant rule of an evil magic regime like the halliwells are kind of having a bad time for their standards but the everyday man is now living under the full premise of a dystopian sci fi fantasy novel. and for me this does kind of include probably looping in my oc's that already exist in TWW bc like. i'm a sucker for a crossoverrrr. and the reason i don't do this is because it is too much. it scares me. i want to but aaaaaaa!!!
