But that envelope entrusted you with the most important obligation of citizenship, and that is to find the truth. It's so important that we dare not give it to one person but to 12 strangers.

sometimes, i think about how ☝︎this rando☝︎ from the [redacted] anime inspired me to tl idol sengen out of spite for her butchered characterisation
#thank you [redacted] anime skinwalker mona for your disservice#it’s been yearsssssssssss since the [redacted] anime and i still can’t let go of my genuine irritation m a n.#sometimes i wake up in the middle of the night and remember [redacted] anime hiyori going ‘thank goodness it wasn’t *real* trauma :)’#wrt aizo’s backstory (as told by ken)#and how she p much went ‘you’re so cute. no wonder why that guy tried to [assault] you. meanwhile im so plain :( poor me :((’ to ‘‘mona’’#after saving her from a creep#i s w e a r everyone in gen retcon (except for juri and. like. koichiro** and the longleg**) was done soooooo dirty by the [redacted] anime#**the shortleg and the longleg were somehow somewhat nice(??????) in the [redacted] anime that it’s in equal parts hilarious and unnerving#i think the [redacted] anime would’ve been better if it had. like. kept hina’s initial saltiness towards hiyori (from the daikirai novel)#bc that *sure* was some light drama** that would’ve added some much needed depth to [redacted] anime hiyori’s characterisation#**said drama kind of involved hiyori seeming to pick up on hina’s dislike for her and trying to speak more formally*** around her and stuff#***e.g. of her trying to speak more formally: she tried to use ‘watashi’ instead of ‘uchi’ (and even corrected herself) when talking to hina#both hina and hiyori were such sopping wet creatures in the novels#that it’s genuinely a pity that they were portrayed as nice helpful senpai + airheaded kouhai in need of guidance in the [redacted] anime#anyways!!!!!!! back to mona#i really. *really* didn’t want the [redacted] anime’s portrayal of her to be *the* image of her in everyone’s minds so. yeah.#hence the idol sengen tl misadventure. that’s the main reason for it. really~~~~#the side reason was asuna. no. seriously. that ‘well duhhhhh’ face in vol 2’s post-asumona concert really sold me on her women’s wrongs lol#oooofffff i should really get ‘round to re-typesetting the vol 1 and 2 chapters some time soon… but i ✨lazy✨#p l e a s e don’t say anything about how bad the early chapters are~~~~ i ✨k n o w✨ i revisited them to check something or othee#and left cringing and wanting to cry out of shame. ahhhhhhhh they’re t e r r i b l e#though i’ve been having dreams of revisiting my tls and realising that i. like. left entire speech bubbles empty#w h y am i dreaming of tling man. i’m d o n e with it frrrrrrrrr im freeeeeeee (and manifesting s2 with all my heart s o b s)#anyways. lols. sorry for clogging the dash~~~~ im exhausted and when im exhausted i have the *neeeeeed* to ✨yap away✨—#in any case [redacted] anime skinwalker mona doesnt count as mona to me lmaoooooo#mv mona? yes mona. novella mona? yes mona. idolsengen manga mona? yes mona. honeypre (rip) mona? yes mona. Character inspo things, i thought about making these a lil while ago when the trend was going around but i could never think of enough characters to fill it all the way (i still can't, but eh fuck it)
#I don't usually drag inspo from a lot of specific places when it comes to character creation so it's hard for me to think of such#i would make these for the other ocs too if i even had much like. there's quite literally nothing i can connection Jiro and Hitaru to#Akemi's personality is inspired by Karin from street fighter alpha and that's pretty much it#nothing much for Bashira and Ippei other than making them feel like Ayame results from the two#Emina doesn't have anything other than that either. But Ayato takes slight inspiration from Butterscotch Horseman#Hamato is just meant to resemble Ando. and strangely enough the one character inspo for Yukari is Honeyspring from Lutumclan#(don't ask how that connects honestly. idk either) + La chorona song from Coco#none of these are enough to fill even half of this template so I'm not making one for the other Another series ocs#onto the ones that are actually here tho! let me elaborate on them#starting with Beni there's Kanata who's a big inspo when it comes to character design beats. as explained in the breakdown post i made#Retsuko and the unused idea for her expression and general anger prone aspect if Beni's personality#Mirei and Nayuta are more tied to her age specifically. the former for her adult self and latter the child one#they give “what is wrong with her” kinda vibes to me#Kizuna and Ayame on Akira's is self explanatory. she's a fankid of course inspo will be drawn from the parents#but other than desigh beats I'd say her personality leans more heavily on Kizuna inspo and Ayame a little less#Callie was not an inspo for her originally but ever since i notices that they look similar i feel like Akira has gotten dumber/sillier#it affects how i imagine the way she talks too. Callie but moreso Mr.Peanutbutter on that speech pattern department#and Juri is there for clothing style as in big baggy pants and crop top looking shirts. color scheme a bit too#hyena ramblings#dra#oc#fankid#Benitsuru Ando#Akira Tomori Hatano

What's up folks? After looking at all 39 of the short-lived Spy vs. Spy Sunday comic strips from 2002, this one is one of my favorites. I mean, panel three just melts my heart with Black mentioning his mother and father there. Seeing the illustration of his parents in the speech bubble in that same panel also has been giving me ideas, for some reason. Either way, it's just so heart-warming.
In panel five, that face is basically me whenever I receive a jury summons in the mail. Not to mention that's it is actually the image for the "This is gonna suck" trope page image. It's perfect for that.
As for the short-lived Sunday comic strips in general, it's hard to believe it's been almost 22 years since these have been made. I may have been in preschool (4-5 years old) at the time these were made, but holy frick I feel old (personally).
I do not claim ownership of the content. Spy vs. Spy belongs to the defunct MAD Magazine and the late, great Antonio Prohias. The Sunday Strips were produced by Dave Manak (illustrator) and the late, great Don "Duck" Edwing.

Talking a little bit about 'boycotting Eurovision' under Keep Reading, feel free to scroll down if is not what you want to see.
The most used argument on the matter of banning Israel from Eurovision is the fact that Russia got banned from Eurovision, which is the worst argument anyone could bring.
Kindly reminder that Russia didn't get banned because of the war with Ukraine. Russia got banned because many countries has threatened to withdraw from the competition. Sadly, that's a big difference.
Yes, the countries has threatened to withdraw because they support Ukraine and see Russia as the party in the wrong. That was their reason. EBU's reason for banning Russian was because those countries threatened to withdraw, not because the war was bad and Russia must be stopped.
This situation isn't the same. Why? Because many countries support Israel in their genocide. Because this time around Palestine is the party in the wrong. Because we're taught to believe that Israel isn't in the wrong here.**
Boycotting Eurovision won't work. There are people out there who don't know the truth and want to watch Eurovision. There are people out there who don't care and will watch Eurovision regardless of the situation. There are people out there who, despite having the facts, still don't see Israel as the bad guy in this situation and will watch Eurovision. Sadly, boycotting won't work unless everyone does it.
The only way Israel will get banned, in my opinion, is by going through the same thing as Russia. If other countries threatened to withdraw- and not any countries, but the ones investing the most in Eurovision, then yes. That will get Israel banned.
Otherwise? The only thing we do is hurt artists that don't deserve it. Artists who use Eurovision as a way to get more exposure and experience. Artists who deserve to be heard.
Don't vote for Israel's entry. Don't stream their song either. Heck, turn off the TV when is their turn to perform.
**This whole situation (the war, not Eurovision) isn't only black and white. Civilians die daily because of this, all of them from both sides. Innocent people who has no fault. Let's not forget that
#Honestly I'm tired of the whole 'Russia got banned Israel should be banned too' speech because is truly bullshit#It has nothing to do with the war per se. It was because countries were unwilling to participate in support for Ukraine#If the whole situation was truly political then other countries wouldn't be able to participate either#Is it fair? No. But that's the situation#Alas Eurovision exist so we forget about the bad in the world for a bit and be more united. Have some fun. Stuff like that#I'm going to get so much hate over this omg. But this is just my opinion/point of view on the matter#Sadly this whole situation isn't even about helping the innocent put in danger by this situation. Is about hate like everything else#My wording is so shitty but people on the internet don't understand shit unless I call 'X bad Y good' so we go with that#eurovision 2024#Also another reminder that THE WHOLE AUDIENCE chanted 'Cha Cha Cha' during eurovision 2023 and were rotting for Finland to win just to lose#Many entries got fucked up by the jury votes too. Our opinion doesn't matter as much as some of you might think lol#Jury votes GOT CHANGED during another eurovision under shitty reasons (I can't remember which year but there were 5 or 6 countries who got#their votes changed). Eurovision has never been fair#We always get annoyed over it and trash talk it then watch it the next year#Also this is not the same as boycotting brands and shit like that who support Israel. No money go from Eurovision to Israel.#This competition as far as I am aware (please correct me if I'm wrong) doesn't support Israel in any way#Be it financially or by donating arms or any other way#Their only fault is for allowing Israel to participate. That's all#Weapons* don't ask me why I said arms instead sorry#i'm tired lol#Fair warning I won't answer any replies to this post

So Vesterinen performed at the Emma awards tonight (the equivalent of the Grammys). Jepa and Heini even showed up for it! And a whole choir!
(edit: alt youtube link)
(They also won Vuoden Iskelmä, which was the only Emma nomination I felt they had any chance of actually winning)
Well, I'm not going to ruin it for the fanclub (unless they're reading this), but...
Spoiler under the cut...
You have been warned...
...
...
...
It's most likely a playback performance - so while the motions are real, you're hearing pre-recorded audio, not actually what they're playing on the stage. I know this because I've been on that stage (different venue but same event).
Yesterday's performance at the Iskelmä Gaala was legit though; you could tell because they actually had all their gear set up. (They got album of the year there, but those awards are by popular vote.)

(T-shirt for the Revolution)
no but as cheesy as it was the train scene in spiderman 2 is truly untouchable. spider man risks his life (again) for his city, and prevents a train from going off the rails, but passes out from exhaustion. four hands come up from behind him, and pull him into the train. the passengers look down at him, his mask off, and comment about how he’s just a kid. you can see it in their faces. he’s not familiar. he’s not memorable. he could have been any one. they give him back his mask, and help him to his feet.

I'd just like to clarify some things about Senator Cory Booker's marathon Senate speech in protest of the present administration and everything they are doing to the American people.
Senator Booker was NOT allowed to sit down, eat, or use the bathroom during his speech. Sitting or leaving the room to use the bathroom would be considered yielding the floor. Eating would have interfered with his speaking and the person who has the floor must continue to speak, except when listening to questions that they will then answer.
He only took occasional sips of water.
The person who previously held the record for longest speech on the Senate floor did have bathroom breaks and also did things like read from the encyclopedia.
Senator Booker did not do that. His speech was to point out the damage that this administration is doing and he stayed on that subject.
Senator Booker's speech did reach many people. It wasn't a silly stunt that was done so that he could take the record for longest speech. He wanted to show the country that democrats will do something to bring attention to the problems we are facing. That democrats are listening to them.
Senator Cory Booker spoke for 25 hours and 4 minutes to "make good trouble."
ETA Thanks for all of the reblogs and notes! I hadn't wanted to dirty this post with the name of the former holder of the record for longest time holding the Senate floor, but there are a lot of questions.
Senator Strom Thurmond, a segregationist and white supremacist, held the previous record of 24 hours and 18 minutes when he filibustered the vote on the Civil Rights Act.
Sen. Thurmond had someone put a bucket just outside of the doorway to the cloakroom so that he could keep one foot on the floor while pissing into this bucket, to hold the floor.
Senator Booker would never disrespect the Senate, nor "bend the rules" in such a way.
Because of this Sen. Thurmond could drink coffee or anything else he wanted, as much as he wanted, to keep himself awake, soothe his throat, and keep his mouth from becoming dry.
Senator Booker limited himself to a few sips at a time from two glasses of water at the podium.
Also, Sen. Thurmond began his speech immediately before a vote was to be taken and his speech was specifically to delay that vote. That is the definition of a "filibuster".
Senator Booker's speech was not designed to delay or prevent any vote. He did not know how long he would be physically able to speak. Therefore, his was a speech, not a filibuster.
ETA2: Strom Thurmond did also temporarily yield the floor to a colleague and took a bathroom break at that time. He also had some rye bread and hamburger to eat.
Source
ETA3: So sorry about all of these but I need to include just one more thing.
This is the transcript of Strom Thurmond's filibuster
He read the voting laws of all 48 states (this was 1957). He read from a book called "The History of the Jury Trial" speaking for quite some time about things like the justice system of the Anglo-Saxons. He read from other books, he read from the Declaration of Independence, he read from the Constitution. He yielded the floor for someone to be sworn in. All kinds of things about his filibuster made Senator Booker's speech a far superior feat, not just because it lasted longer.
