Arcane opinions: (s2 spoiler warnings and such)

They could never make me hate Jinx. Yes, she did fucked up shit! But, Her actions are so easily explained by her entire life. Her parents died in front of her before she could process what death truly was. Her older sister and older brother figures consistently called her a jinx, accusing her of breaking everything she tried to help with. And To her it keeps getting reinforced. She accidentally killed BOTH of her adoptive dads. And her older brother figures. And I could go on. So muchbof her story is just people telling her she's horrible from a young age and her internalizing it and it eventually just becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

However when Jinx is given the chance to step up and be an older sister, she does. Isha kind of adopts her as an older sister figure. But instead of belittling isha and repeating what she went thru, Jinx decides to Abandon her "Jinx" Persona as much as she can. And she tries to focus on giving isha a good home. Even when Her and Vi are fighting in the tunnels, As soon as Isha gets hurt she abandons the argument with Vi and tends to isha.

My point is, Despite everything bad she ever did, she made an active effort to change and make isha's life better.

I have more points but im rlly tired and my body hurts but yall get the point. I love my girl jinx and powder.

Vander makes Vi believe that whatever happened is on her. So Vi suffers and her guilt is so deep and destructive, believing that she turned Jinx into a monster and that what happened to Caitlyn's mother and to Piltover is her fault, she wants to prevent more ppl from getting hurt, and she feels she needs to go after Jinx, and she even believes that the war that will happen to Zaun is her fault.

So she tries to make things right as much as possible in a way that she believes is right. Like Christian Linke said here👇

But unfortunately she will fail for some reason and will become a Pit fighter.

ARCANE S2 SPOILERS!!! The Fact That the Bomb Jinx Tried to Use on Herself is a Monkey, Just Like the One That Killed Milo & Claggor…

It even shares the skull design of the original. Like… EXACTLY. If you look closely, the strokes are identical. That small scuff on the one tooth, the length of the dark inner corners of its eyes, it is a perfect copy. Which leads me suspect it is not a copy at all.

We see after the explosion that the head of the explosive is still in tact. Jinx must have gone back to the scene after everything that happened and retrieved it. Meaning she has been holding on to the remnants of the bomb that killed her family and ruined her life ever since. Just like she has clung on to her guilt. Eventually attempting to use it to punish herself in the most conclusive way possible.

The monkey bomb that killed Milo and Claggor has eyelids pointing down at the centre. An angry expression.

But the one Jinx was planning to use on herself has eyes downturned at the ends, a sadder expression.

The juxtaposition is symbolic of the circumstances surrounding the use and result of each explosive.

The first bomb was used out of determination, Powder’s intent to protect and save her family. But, evidently, it ended up killing them instead. She is devastated and furious at what happened. At how Vi left her. When she is being held by Silco at the end of the episode, she wears the same expression as the first explosive, and her eyes, for a split second, flash that same red.

The second bomb was used out of resignation. Jinx was ready to take her own life because she thought that was the best thing to do. What would help everyone. Much like her motivations for using the first. When Ekko interrupts her, she is not mad. Instead, she’s simply numb, sad, and tired. Her eyes are droopy like that of the monkey’s as she prepares to and initially sets off the explosive, and after Ekko stops her as well. The eyes of the monkey are more of a pinky-purple, much like Jinx’s after being revived using Shimmer.

Originally, I was going to make this a post about the representation of characters and Jinx’s relationship with them through the colours decorating her inventions, but then I noticed this and just had to rant.

Anyway, I think it is a devastating detail, but one that once again proves just how talented and dedicated the team behind Arcane is. I think the fandom will be uncovering parallels like this for decades and there would still be more left undiscovered.

To anyone complaining about how quickly Vi forgave Caitlyn:

Cait's story in season 2 is one Vi's seen before.

Cait's lost a parent. She feels responsible for it, and in her lowest moment, someone much more powerful comes along with all their ill intentions to take her under their wing and prey on her vulnerability. They use her as a weapon by feeding into her fears and her desire for affection, for comfort.

"You're the one acting like her" isn't a jab, it's the truth. And if there's one thing Vi will always do, it's see the good left in her sister.

So when the same thing happens to Cait, why shouldn't she see the good in her too?

spoilers ahead for s1 and 2 of arcane

i feel that jinx is the embodiment of getting so close to happiness but having it constantly torn away from her. Usually somewhat by her own doing, but Vi also had a lot to do with her losses when u think abt it.

Ekko Jinx Vi Claggor and. the guy i forget his name. Were all starting to be happy and live a life with Vander and the chill guy who was like ekkos dad. Yea sure they did get involved with shady shit, and crime and all of that. But They didnt have much of a choice while living in Zaun. But then they go on a mission, which the outcome of has a chain reaction to the rest of the series.

(as clearly shown in the AU where vi is dead and everyone else is thriving and hextech doesnt exist bc jayce probably succeeded in his attempt on his life after the explosion killed Vi. And Theres a buncha stuff that could have happened w viktor. maybe his disease progressed too far, or he didnt gain interest because of the outcome of its accidental use killing a young girl frkm the undercity. which could give him moral cause to not support jayce. but anyways back to the main topic)

That mission led to powder/jinx really really needing to feel helpful. So what happens? She gets her bombs to work. But she accidentally "kills" vander in the process. As well as actually killing claggor and the other guy. Therefore getting si close to feeling happy and useful. But it being taken away by her own actions and Vi's influence (imo vi's reaction is what leads her to be taken in by silco. bc silco feels safer now than Vi, who just hit her in the face and called her a jinx after previously reassuring her she wasnt.)

Later on when Jinx is with silco. Silco loves jinx. He's a decent father figure, horrible person (product of environment and never finding the letter) but an ok father. He loves Jinx and wouldn't give her to Piltover even though thats what the council wanted to 'allow' zaun to be its own sovereign state. He trusts her to an extent. She has her fun with her gadgets and explosives and Silco scolds her when needed. etc. I'd argue that Even though it wasn't perfect, and jinx was struggling with untreated mental illness, She was starting to get kinda happy and comfortable.

But what happens next? She kidnaps Vi and Caitlyn, Vi accidentally triggers her into an episode, and jinx accidentally kills silco while she's disoriented and hallucinating. And even after that?? Silco didnt get upset because he Knew that she didnt mean to. ( which EUGH.. their fucked up father daughter duo makes me so emotional) Happiness ripped away p2.

Okay! Maybe third time is the charm. She has Isha! And She's done with the Jinx persona but knows she isnt really powder either. She does her best to be a good older sister and shows isha the ropes of zaun-living kinda. They genuinely have a nice bond and Jinx stops getting involved with as much violence. Also if you notice, most of her hallucinations have stopped (at least on screen).

And Then they meet up w Vi and find Warwick/Vander. They make it to Viktor's Cult and happiness looks so fucking close. They could be a real Family.

And WHAT HAPPENS????? Ambitcha and her army barge in, wanting Warwick for a weapon, Jayce drops in to try to kill his boyfriend who isnt himself fully anymore, and it all goes ti shit! Jinx loses Isha and Vander (again) And its all fucked. That was her last fucking straw. After losing all of that she goes tk prison.

And after EVERYTHING she's endured. All of that kind of finalizes in her brain that she is a Jinx.

In the end, If you look at jinx's facial expressions as she saves Vi and (probably) dooms herself, she's content. She's content dying this way. After losing Everything. After feeling like she was the cause of everything bad. She could do One thing to give her remaining family member happiness. And doing that one thing seemed to give her relief or possibly even her own happiness. And if she died, that final emotion, finally reaching a semblance of being content, couldnt be taken away.

and i dont blame her for choosing to go out like that. was i happy? FUCK NO i was sobbing. but it made sense. ik there's a theory she's probably alive. esp cus she's like a main character in league. but from what ive seen/heard? arcane is based on lol lore but not quite. And Jinx is a far more nuanced character in arcane.

i think thats all for now. prepare for more long ass posts bc this show is pure art. and i loved it.

Literally!! I can't believe people are saying Caitlyn is overreacting, her mom is dead you idiot!! What do you mean she's overreacting!? You people have never seen a character go through such stages of grief, despair, and devastation. Caitlyn has been through the worst experiences of her life because of Jinx's attempted murder, kidnapping, torture, and now the death of her mother. I mean, Caitlyn's personality change and her intense hatred for Jinx and loss herself are completely understandable.

Look how scared she is, we don't know what hell Caitlyn went through when Jinx kidnapped her, but that expression on her face says it all.

And let's not forget that Caitlyn in episode 1 refused the order to invade Zaun. Even after her mother's death she still didn't want to use violence, and we later saw that she would go there for only three goals.

And indeed she did, she attacked those gangs present in Zaun "Gangs that were hurting people and children in Zaun".

(And of course we shouldn't forget that she didn't suddenly change her mind, but rather because of the attack caused by Ambessa that made her reach this level of anger)

And now Ambessa will definitely play an important role in Caitlyn's character change by inciting her to seek revenge.

Ambessa manipulates everything and puts someone in power she can easily control

Another thing I found weird is how some people think in this ridiculous way to say that Caitlyn wants to kill the child or that Caitlyn wants to kill Vi. Are you really serious? Literally, you have never seen in any show or movie a character who is angry and loses control after that, don't you know when a person is angry they don't see it in front of them especially since she didn't want to make Jinx run away again, this was her chance to take revenge on the person who ruined her life completely (Caitlyn's actions are logical and her anger and sadness did not come from nothing or came from her mother's death only, but came from other things that were piling up on Cait which led to her explosion)

And as I was saying Caitlyn just wanted to kill Jinx, anger and sadness at that moment took over her. Jinx had NO mercy with Caitlyn, there is nothing that softens her actions.

And I hope you guys remember the true core of Caitlyn, she was trying to do what is good and she gets bombed, kidnapped, and her mom dead now.

Of course i actively like- no. Adore Caitlyn when the majority starts to turn against her.

I love complex characters that make you feel. Yes, make bad decisions for good reasons, have good motives and take wrong actions, be good and be bad, be complex, in all your fictional beauty master being real, being human, being too much.
