Do you have any book recommendations for novels featuring Jewish characters (for fiction, any genre) or Jewish people (for nonfiction, predominately biographies/memoirs?)
When it comes to fiction, I’ve really enjoyed Shira Glassman’s and Naomi Novik’s work. You can’t really go wrong with either of them!
If you’d like a broad spectrum collection that includes historical and queer works, I highly recommend Noam Sienna’s A Rainbow Thread: An Anthology of Queer Jewish Texts from the First Century to 1969.

So, ummm
I think it's time to talk about Devil Town
I don't know what to say about Devil Town, expect for it's a city of culture . . .
L i t e r a l I y
DT is the city of immigrants and their descendants. "Immigrants of what country?" You ask. And I'll say "yes"
Rusian, Polish, Asian, French, Columbian - we got it all!
But the side effect of it it's absolutly arcy-crazy family trees, that comes out
"What do you mean?"
I mean that if someone form DT tells that their mother is half french-half asian, their dad is a german, with Polish and African roots and they themself is jewlish too, JUST BELIEVE IT
Really I don't know what else to say :/

Kugel ( low spoons 2/10)
So, technically I’m Jewish, because my great-grandmother was, so my grandmother was and my mom is. We were raised Catholic, however, and I practice nor believe either. My point is, I didn’t get to grow up on many Jewish recipes. For the most part, I was only ever familiar with matzoh ball soup and knishes, both equally delicious.
My mom found a recipe for Kugel and sent it to me immediately, telling me she’s always wanted to try it. She sent me this, and I tweaked it a little more for my own tastebuds because I was too lazy for two kinds of preserves (our stores didn’t have jam,) I’m not a huge fan of raisins, and I had no cinnamon. I also made the noodles in the microwave because this is a blog that finds the easiest way to bring great food to the table (and like I said, I’m lazy.)
That said, I omitted the raisins and cinnamon and used only blueberry preserves. Needless to say, we overate.

Your description of challah sounds delicious, in your opinion/in general, may non-Jewish people eat challah? Especially if done on Friday or the New Year, and if bought from a Jewish bakery? What if I made it myself?
hello!! i think it’s completely finefor goyim (non-jews) to eat challah and appreciate it in all its glory. as long as you’re recognising the culture it’s come from and not being disrespectful or anything, i think eating other culture’s traditional recipes is a really good way of learning more about them and connecting :) if you have a local jewish bakery then i say hell yeah support them (and they’re likely only going to make challah on fridays anyway) or if you want to bake it, that’s awesome!
if you want more info, or recipes, i would highly recommend Jewlish by Jamie/
thank you for the ask, and good luck with any future challah endeavours!
