Imagine Zeb visiting Lira San for the first time, but from the people that live there.

Here's this group of three new lasat, who claim they are from a planet that was destroyed.

The two in the lead look happy, almost expectant as they explain their journey and their history.

And then there is the one just behind them.

His eyes are wide and mouth agape. His ears flick rapidly between amazement and distress. He looks upon the common folk with wonder and as his gaze falls upon the curious kits swarming his feet, his eyes well with tears.

He laughs and cries all at once, and any can tell he's had a long fight with disbelief. He stays for the impromptu celebration at the village center, taking in all he can before he disembarks, stating he will return when it is time.

He is genuine in his words and as he leaves he looks as though a great weight has been lifted from him. As though this is the first time in a long while he's been truly happy.

My holiday ends today and I can now share photos of my look for Galaxy’s Edge inspired by “ma dude” Garazeb Orrelios.

I had a brilliant day on Batuu, the rides were incredible, the food and drinks were great and I got quite a few compliments on my look with many people saying how rare or “unique” it was. Zeb deffo needs more shirts and merchandise. Make it happen, Star Wars! Dude’s gonna be a movie star soon! 😏

the green overalls were embriodered by Sabine and given to Tala as a birthday gift at some point and she just loves them so much she could wear them everyday (and sometimes refuses and pouts when Kallus suggests something else)

I have SO MANY feelings about Kanan, Zeb, and Rex all being some of the last few survivors of dying cultures.

Even though the Jedi can pass on their teachings and there will always be more Force sensitive people in the galaxy, the specific culture of the Prequels Jedi that Kanan grew up with will never completely come back. Jedi like Ezra and Luke will share a lot of similarities, obviously, especially philosophically, but their way of life and traditions will look VERY different, as will whatever ends up evolving from them (and from Rey if we include the Sequels).

Similarly, Zeb finds the Lasat on Lira San, but those Lasat will presumably have a VERY different culture than the one that existed on Lasan. The two groups of Lasat have been separated for so long that Lira San has become legend and is thought to not really exist and even the people who believe it exists don't realize what it actually is and that there are other Lasat on there. This implies that it's been an EXTREMELY long time since the Lasat of Lasan originally left Lira San and the two groups have probably diverged quite a bit. Lira San itself is also just not going to feel like Lasan, it won't have the same landscapes or wildlife, the cities will be different. The language might even have some significant differences that the last three Lasan survivors would have to navigate. And there's no getting back that culture from Lasan, it's gone. There's only three known survivors and they're going to end up just... engulfed into the Lira San culture without a lot of ability to pass on what they remember from Lasan. Lasan might end up like... a chapter in a Lira San history text and that's probably it. The nuances of its culture will be lost completely.

And the clones. The clones are just going to completely disappear. People will likely only remember the clones even existed because the war got named after them. All they'll be remembered FOR is violence and death. Depending on who is talking about them, they'll either be the traitors who destroyed the Jedi and allowed the Empire to reign, or the poor pawns that the Empire used to destroy the Jedi and keep the galaxy under its thumb. Who they were will be completely and utterly lost. And there's no way for them to continue in any form. While it's POSSIBLE that a few of them might have sired children out in the galaxy somewhere, we never have any confirmation of that, and nearly all of them are dead by the time the Empire falls. Their friendship with the Jedi, what little culture they were able to develop, all of that is lost to time and will disappear once the final clone dies.

It's such a horrific thing that is happening to these three characters, a slow dying out that that's literally happening in front of their very eyes. It's the worst kind of connection between the three of them, but something that's probably really important in their various relationships. No one else understands this grief the way they do, no one else quite understands how this feels, the helplessness and hopelessness. There's absolutely nothing they can do but try to keep going and remember their people as best they can and live according to the culture the Empire has tried to eradicate.

I like to think the three of them end up discussing it one day, maybe one Empire Day they all just decide to go drinking and be maudlin together. And Kanan ends up talking about how the Jedi believed that there was no death, there was the Force. Everyone who dies rejoins the Force, so even if they're gone they're still impacting the galaxy and the people living in it, regardless of whether those who remain can feel them or not. Maybe you get a burst of inspiration or have a lucky break or meet someone you instantly click with, and maybe that's the people who've left before you still touching your life through the Force, binding you together no matter what. Zeb and Rex really connect to this belief and end up finding comfort and even a little healing in it.

Introducing my Lasat/Zygerrian oc! I tried to find more info about the Lasat when it came to names and language but I had no luck- so I just used a Lasat name generator haha.

The Ghost Crew had received a distress signal and were sent on a rescue mission— their primary target was one of many in captivity, including a Lasat mother and her child—Gima. They have been slaves and trafficked for years. Unfortunately things went haywire and the mother did not make it. Naturally Zeb brought Gima back to the rebels base in hopes of finding her a new home and family- but after such a traumatic event and loss, Gima had imprinted onto Zeb and refused to leave his side, becoming hostile towards anyone else.

He had tried to leave her in good care, as he was no where near in a position to take care of a child. But it was only a few days later he received a message requesting for his return due to Gima’s worsening condition. With the help of the medical team at the rebels base and even the Ghost Crew he was able to learn how to take care of Gima and eventually she was brought to a state where she could be left with a family while Zeb was on missions until she was old enough to join the Ghost Crew.

Meet Klavdia Orrelios! This little cutie first appears in my fic Brave Girl, though she is younger in the fic than in the picture.

Klavdia is the spunky, smart kit that Zeb and Alexsandr adopt sometime after Rebels ends. She loves snuggling, exploring, and generally causing headaches for her dads. She also has ectrodactyly and only a thumb and 1 finger on her right hand.

While Klavdia is close to both her parents and, obviously, goes to Zeb for lots of the Lasat stuff, she has a special connection to Alexsandr because of her hand. He has a particular understanding for how it feels to be "different" due to his own problems with his leg and also having different needs as a human. It's not always easy to navigate her physical differences, but with plenty of love and support from her family, she grows every day into a confident, competent young woman.

Meet Klavdia's yet-unnamed baby brother! He has yet to appear in a fic, but I have plans for him.

Baby Boy is Zeb and Alexsandr's biological child (Steve Blum was right when he said Zeb was probably pregnant). I tried to give them what differences I could within what the program supports, though there is a lot of similarity simply because they're both purple. I modeled Baby Boy's face swoops (stripes?) and upright ears after Zeb. He deliberately has a different hair texture from his sister.

I imagine his eyes as a little closer to brown than they appear in the photo, so that they look more like Alexsandr's. He's also short for a Lasat (especially compared to his sister) since he is half-human and Zeb is (according to some sources) of middling-to-shorter height for a Lasat. Finally, being half-human, he has 5 fingers on each hand but only 4 toes on each foot.

Do you think if a lasat is in a cold environment long enough, they naturally adapt to grow more fur? Like, if Zeb stayed on Hoth for a year, would he get extra fluffy? I just have this image of him finally getting back to a warm planet and shedding like a husky in summer. 🤣

Zeb for Spectre Week day 4! not super happy with it but I was going for Honor Guard Zeb, buuuut since we have no images of what the armor and stuff looked like, I just went with a blue and gold version of his standard outfit (and the bo-rifle ofc). this is definitely my least favorite drawing of the week so far because I learned the hard way I have no idea how to draw a Lasat lol
