Big Mouth Incorrect Quotes
Matthew: You're coming over to my house tonight. And we're gonna... "study".
Jay: Aw! I never get to do anything fun!
Jessi: Dear God, you're dumb.
Jay: I guess that's why I gotta go "study".

S9 E3 - Flash Forward
Hey guys, back again with another totally real*, totally awesome screenshot!
'Andrew's gotta set some things right with Jessi, and ropes Matthew into helping him, which makes things worse. Jay and Judd get into some mischief and Missy gets mistaken for a Cobblestones' Student!' *=Fake but I know you know. I love doing these so much! This came about because I misinterpreted an articles description, but even the description it was trying to give sounded already confused - so it made me think in season 8, Andrew's gonna do a flash forward type thing and bring his friends with him to help fix some problems. If I find the article I'll add in the weird description so you guys can see what I mean. But anywho it inspired me for this piece. I'm not sure what happen to make Jessi so upset, but hopefully the boys can fix whatever went wrong! I chose to go subtitleless for this one; couldn't think of what I wanted Jessi shouting.

Pt. 3 of Big Mouth x MLP
I’m not too familiar with pony anatomy, so I do use bases! Credit to angelagirlpinky on Pinterest for the bases :))
Jessi Glazer herself, I chose a feminism based cutie mark to represent her devotion to social justice, albeit misguided at times.

Video by Jessie Gender.
Ira Steven Behr Signs Letter Condemning Jonathan Glazer's Speech About Gaza
Accepting the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film for his Holocaust film "The Zone of Interest," director Jonathan Glazer made a statement condemning the ongoing Israeli bombardment of Gaza.
Following his speech, over 1,000 Hollywood creatives reacted by condemning his remarks in an open letter. Among them, DS9 showrunner Ira Steven Behr.
That's a bit surprising, given his work on "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," which often explores themes of oppression, discrimination, and social justice, while consistently siding with the Bajorans' fight for freedom against the Cardassian occupiers.
Why wouldn't this perspective apply to the Palestinian people?
Jonathan Glazer cannot be accused of antisemitism; he is Jewish and is supported by Jewish progressives.

We can all agree that this is just antisemitism, right? There’s no other more appropriate word for it, really.
(Context: Ira Steven Behr, who is Jewish, was one of many celebrities who signed an open letter criticizing and condemning director Jonathan Glazer for the speech he made at the Oscars in which he said "we stand here as men who refute their Jewishness and the Holocaust being hijacked" -- according to him, "I refute my Jewishness" was not how he intended his words to be interpreted, but if true, that just means it was a very poorly worded statement. This woman described Ira Steven Behr’s signing of a letter saying Jonathan Glazer said something antisemitic -- which he did, intentionally or otherwise -- as "morally unconscionable." This is just lunacy, actually.)
This video (I didn’t watch it in its entirety but I read the entire transcript) hits pretty much all of the antisemitic talking points people use when talking about Israel’s war on Hamas: genocide, Zionism, saying the reaction to the deaths of the WCK workers is "only coming because white people died" (what the fuck!), blaming Biden, neoliberalism, "the conflation of Israel the nation and its actions with not only Judaism but also the entire people of Israel," whatever.
One of the claims made in the video is (verbatim), "Ira Steven Behr is supporting Israel’s actions through his condemning of Jonathan Glazer’s speech." This is nonsense! This is "so you hate waffles"-levels of stupidity. Another claim is that the situation with Behr is similar to the situation with Joanne Rowling and transphobia, which is, hmm, very telling in terms of how you see the concept of Jewish people supporting our homeland.
Anyway, Jessie Gender then goes on to compare Major Kira ("a former terrorist who fought back against the fascist occupation of her land by the alien Cardassians, a settler-colonial government that not only store resources from her home planet of Bajor but also genocided her people") to, uh, Hamas I guess??????? I have only watched one of this lady’s videos besides this one but wow she sounds like a fucking idiot.
(To her credit, she does say, "this is not me approving … of all of Kira’s actions nor of Hamas specifically, but to understand the situations that people who are undergoing a genocide endure and the choices that they have to make in order to fight for their own liberation and personhood," so at leash she’s not openly supporting the real-life terrorists, I guess!)
Another very interesting (and saddening) part of the video is when Jessie says, "I know there will be some people in the comments that say, well, Ira Steven Behr must be facing a ton of pressure to sign this letter, as many Jewish people within the Hollywood industry and within America generally are feeling the pressure to do so -- certainly we have seen many people lose their jobs and places [sic?] for speaking out against the Palestinian genocide; I myself have lost connections both personal and professional, as well as had certain parts of my career hurt, because I have been very vocal about what is happening to the Palestinian people" (emphasis and punctuation mine). What a really shitty thing to say, the idea that Jewish people can’t support Israel without being pressured -- literally, in this case, by (((them))) -- to do so.
Anyway, one final note: Jessie says at one point, "Rick Burman, someone who I don’t have a ton of respect for, at least understood this [that the Bajorans were apparently an allegory for Palestinians]." To paraphrase an all-timer: you do not, actually, have to hand it to Rick Berman.
#the bit about Kira and terrorism is soo funny because IF ANYTHING the Bajoran resistance to Cardassian occupation is obviously an allegory#for JEWISH PEOPLE and NAZIS. fucking dumbass!#*#mine#antisemitism#(oh and part of the point of Kira’s arc is that she was *wrong* to do a lot of the stuff she did! lmao)#I have a lot more to say on these topics but at the moment I am just... tired. of all this shit.#Israel

@noa-nightingale @strangesmallbard @carcosa-commune @cynicalclassicist
Just to be clear, I don’t think Jessie is a stupid person, far from it, in fact. She is a very smart, well-spoken person in all of her videos that I’ve seen.
However, what I do think is going on with her and this video is that she, like a lot of Leftists and Liberals across the internet, is suffering from what I like to call Star Wars Derangement Syndrome, a phenomenon which I will illustrate below:
Tumblr Jews: Calmly and logically explaining why the Jewish people felt the need to establish a nation state in their ancestral homeland after every other option had been exhausted and how Hamas cares more about destroying Israelis than saving fellow Palestinians
Tumblr Goyim: Oh I get it! Hamas is basically the Rebel Alliance and Israel is basically the Galactic Empire!
Basically, Jessie is someone who, like a lot of online Leftists and Liberals, gets her politics less from reading actual philosophy and history books and more from her engagement with movies, TV shows, cartoons, comic books, anime, and/or video games. As a result of this, she tends to filter her thoughts and opinions on these complex phenomena like the Israel-Palestine Crisis through a lens of the pop culture she’s absorbed throughout her life + whatever history they vaguely remember from middle school and/or high school and/or poorly sourced, poorly worded Tumblr posts. And quite frankly, Americans of all political stripes have a bad tendency to see morality as a team sport where there’s a Good Team who only ever does Good Things and an Evil Team who only ever does Evil Things. And as far as they are concerned, the Western Powers like Israel and the United States and the United Kingdom are the Evil Team and the Third World is the oppressed Good Team who are a band of scrappy rebels fighting back against The Big Scary Evil Imperial Powers (let’s just ignore that Hamas is a billionaire-led organisation funded by a nuclear power in the form of Iran and the very wealthy nation of Qatar). And everyone is either on one side or the other. Like, you’ll notice she doesn’t specify what Ira Steven Baehr’s specific objections to Jonathan Glazer’s speech actually were, right? Like, it could have been as simple as “Don’t compare the Holocaust to the Palestinian Crisis, especially because part of what made the Holocaust so unspeakably horrific is that it was a mindless Genocide For Genocide’s Sake against populations that posed no threat to either the German People or the German State, whilst Hamas actually does and has done all manner of horrific shit, and the Palestinian War going on currently is horrific because innocent people who are already subject to all sorts of atrocities by their own government are now being subjected to even more atrocities from a foreign government and thus are suffering under two unspeakably awful authoritarian regimes”. I severely doubt a guy like Ira Steven Baehr is going to write that “Actually, Netanyahu and Likud dropping White Phosphorus on residential neighbourhoods and drone striking babies in hospitals is Great! It’s exactly what Mosheh and Eliyahu would have wanted in the Tanakh! How dare you question our Torah, Mister Uncomfortable Dramas with Great Sound Design! You just don’t get it, you villainous boged, you!”.
*Beleaguered sigh* I really hope that Jessie’s upcoming video that she’s releasing later this week lets her speak in a more nuanced manner about these issues and shows a more complex and whole understanding of all of these issues.
@dachi-chan25 @disregardcanon
Okay I... am maybe not the best person to talk about this but I have serious problems with Jessie Gender's new video, When Your Favorite Creator Turns Out to Be Zionist.
Let me first say - I like Jessie Gender. I watched many of her videos and I think she has a lot of very interesting, moving, important things to say about topics like queerness, humanity and such.
But this video just... irked me.
I do not like how she talks about Zionists and Zionism. I have seen how the word Zionist is used against Jewish people. I am not the best person to put it into words but I do not like it when it is used as an insult or implied to be inherently a bad thing.
She seems to use it to mean "person who supports Israel's actions" (implied to support what she calls a genocide throughout the video) and that... is not right.
There are other issues I have as well with the video, like comparing the I/P situation to the Holocaust. There are more things but I am honestly not qualified to speak on them.
Before someone accused me of "supporting a genocide" - I do not. I wish for peace and safety for Palestinians AND Israelis. (And since I have been called a Zionist in the past - I do not consider myself to be one.)
I am just generally disappointed by a creator I like tbh.
I don't think I got my thoughts across very well. I'll be on the lookout for posts made by Jewish people about this video.

In addition to promoting C4P on Instagram, I also wanted to share the letter released by Artists4Ceasefire:
Dear President Biden, We come together as artists and advocates, but most importantly as human beings witnessing the devastating loss of lives and unfolding horrors in Israel and Palestine. We ask that, as President of the United States, you and the US Congress call for an immediate de-escalation and ceasefire in Gaza and Israel before another life is lost. More than 5,000 people have been killed in the last week and a half – a number any person of conscience knows is catastrophic. We believe all life is sacred, no matter faith or ethnicity and we condemn the killing of Palestinian and Israeli civilians. We urge your administration, Congress, and all world leaders, to honor all of the lives in the Holy Land and call for and facilitate a ceasefire without delay – an end to the bombing of Gaza, and the safe release of hostages. Half of Gaza’s two million residents are children, and more than two thirds are refugees and their descendants being forced to flee their homes. Humanitarian aid must be allowed to reach them. We believe that the United States can play a vital diplomatic role in ending the suffering and we are adding our voices to those from the US Congress, UNICEF, Doctors without Borders, The International Committee of The Red Cross, and so many others. Saving lives is a moral imperative. To echo UNICEF, “Compassion — and international law — must prevail.” As of this writing more than 6,000 bombs have been dropped on Gaza in the last 12 days - resulting in one child being killed every 15 minutes. "Children and families in Gaza have practically run out of food, water, electricity, medicine and safe access to hospitals, following days of air strikes and cuts to all supply routes. Gaza’s sole power plant ran out of fuel Wednesday afternoon, shutting down electricity, water and wastewater treatment. Most residents can no longer get drinking water from service providers or household water through pipelines.... The humanitarian situation has reached lethal lows, and yet all reports point to further attacks. Compassion — and international law — must prevail.” – UNICEF spokesperson James Elder Beyond our pain and mourning for all of the people there and their loved ones around the world we are motivated by an unbending will to stand for our common humanity. We stand for freedom, justice, dignity and peace for all people – and a deep desire to stop more bloodshed. We refuse to tell future generations the story of our silence, that we stood by and did nothing. As Emergency Relief Chief Martin Griffiths told UN News, “History is watching.”

I'd heard so much about the celebs and creatives who signed that letter in support of Israel which totally ignored the plight of Palestinians in favor of promoting Zionist talking points -- to the point where I didn't even know about the Artists4Ceasefire counter letter.
I know in the grand scheme of things, these letters are mostly performative gestures. I don't know how many on this list are actively promoting the Palestinian cause as individuals with far-reaching platforms... but it's a far cry from the appalled disappointment I felt scrolling down that first letter.
I saw your tags about trying to compile a list of celebs who support Palestine and a pretty decent source is the celebrities4palestine Instagram account🫶🏾
Thank you so much!!
#also shout out to mandy patinkin#he's on the artists4ceasefire letter#which means he probably doesn't agree with the absolute garbage takes his brother mark published in the providence journal#fuck you mark patinkin#free palestine#justice for palestine

Predictions on the Big Mouth Valentine Day Special
Soooooo... In light of the trailer for the Valentine’s Day special, I’ve seen people say:
“Why are they trying to make Matthew look straight?”
“Jessei x Matthew?”
“Jessei can turn gay guys bi”
First: that last one. NO
Second: I highly doubt the creators of this show would make the only openly gay character straight, knowing how much it’ll piss off its on fans and others. (Also, Matthew’s voice actor is also openly gay and I doubt he’d let that slide too.)
Earlier in the trailer, we see Matthew doing the morning announcements with a tagline saying ‘LOVE IS AN ILLUSION’ Given his personality, he’s probably bitter and/or upset that he’s alone on another Valentine’s Day. Think back to season two with his interactions with Jay. Mainly the one in E10, where Jay, obviously confused about his feelings, goes up to Matthew about the previous night. The latter brushes it off, with the former is happy about. However, Matthew looks annoyed at the fact that Jay is happy about their “game” meaning nothing.
We see in the trailer that Jay (at least for some part of the special), he’s spending Valentine’s Day with Suzzette, a motel pillow.
Btw we know Matthew isn’t well liked by his peers. Not wanting to go to the dance alone, he might’ve asked Jessei, as the two of them are friends (And friends alone)
Third: Those scenes involving Jessei and Matthew look like a song.
By the lightning on the two characters, their outfits, the flow of the scenes, and movement of the characters, especially their mouths, it looks like a song.
If there’s one thing Big Mouth can do perfect, is their singing sequences.
In the trailer, all the characters have a plot line including something about love or partnership. Andrew is tired of Missy not being available. Nick is recently single and looking for new people. Jay is spending Valentine’s Day with Suzzette. Matthew has to deal with another thing that reminds him of how lonely his and Jessei has just gone through a bout of depression and her parent’s divorce.
But then you could be asking:
“What does Jessei have to do with the illusion of love?”
One: Do you hear yourself?
Two: Jessei has just (and still is) going through a divorce with her parents. She watched their once loving relationship completely fall apart and now her mom is dating another woman, who Jessei isn’t very fond of.
Jessei has also seen the horrid effects of love on her classmates. She dated Nick and Jay; One ending with rumors being blasted all over school and the other ending when she realized running away with him was a bad idea. She’s also seen Gina’s, who was also “dating” Nick, reputation be completely ruined by her (meaning Jessei) spreading rumors about her all over school. She saw the toxicity of Andrew and Lola’s relationship and how it ruined him.
Now, were all the relationships I listed in the paragraph above actual love?
No, but you understand my point.
Jessei has seen what love can do to her family and friends: be awful and toxic.
Matthew is lonely because of his love (meaning his sexuality)
A song about how love is an illusion is PERFECT for these two characters.
I may have gone too deeply into this but thanks for reading.
