Super weird that it happened just few days after getting this ask, but I actually had jehova's witnesses on my doorstep today!

it was two women, very sweet and pleasant, looking like they're in their 50s maybe, and they excitedly started inviting me to the event of 'Celebrating Christ's Death', which they were organizing globally, they said. At that point I only realized it was 'some religious thing' so I smiled and politely said that I wasn't interested. I also remembered reading that people recruiting for cults are often subjected to resentment and cruelty from people they're trying to recruit, which confirms their taught beliefs that the outside world is cruel and hateful, so I made sure to be extra friendly! I thanked them for coming and expressed again that I wasn't interested but I wished them luck. They then wanted to give me a flier, which would tell me about more events, and I accepted mostly because I wanted to see what kind of religion/cult they were from. They weren't too pushy and let me close the door, and then I scanned the flier and found 'Jehova's witnesses' on it, and figured out who they were.

I've never heard of the 'Celebration of Death', the flier contains some quotes from the bible and specific date, time and address where the event is happening. It also says the 'resurrection is the victory against death', and this celebration was on jesus's orders.

Can anyone give me more info on this? I'm now curious what exactly is going on in this event and how dangerous it could be for people who do attend (can they be pulled into the cult?).

The flier is also designed like a corporative flier, it has stock images of people in suits on it, and a picture of a guy with a beard who is obviously not even closely resembling jesus it's really funny. It feels very outsourced and generic and contains the bare minimum of information.

Hey anon, I don't have enough comprehensive knowledge about it to have a relevant opinion, all I do know is that they're a strict patriarchal religion that does a lot of recruiting and their tactics are very cult-like, and they don't let people go free once they're recruited.

If anyone here has personal experience with them or more exhaustive knowledge, please write it down on this post!

Idea for all you pagans and witches out there: If you get Jehovah’s Witnesses or Mormons or those sorts knocking at your door, instead of politely turning them away, don on your most witchy, out-there, non-christian-friendly accessories and attire and open the door.

Be cheerful and welcoming! Say you’re more then open to chat about spirituality, take their pamphlets, try to show them any books of your own you have, hell, even invite them inside for a cup of tea by your altar to Odin.

I don’t know how it’ll go down, but I’m almost certain the interaction will be funny af.

i like that freedom of religion in the USA is like mainly litigated for

The passion flower's hanakotoba are "Faith", "Sacred Love" as well as "Religious fervour". Just so you know, this is simply an annecdote about the flower, it's not directly related to Amane's origins. Hanatokoba is purely allegorical. Simply put, just because the blue passion flower has this kind of backstory and hanakotoba, it doesn't mean Amane's religion is the same. Just added this supplement in case this is the first time you've had a run in with the Hanakotoba Guy and found it hard to understand. it's literally everything if you're into gritty survival body horror that transitions to fucked up lovecraftian cosmic horror shit you WILL enjoy it!!! there's a lot of subtle worldbuilding woven into the environment and it makes me insane. RagnarRox did a wonderful video on it which first hooked me on the game and it's a really good dissection of its mood and mechanics and how that ties into the story. HIGHLY recommend you check it out whether it's before or after experiencing the game itself, it does describe a bunch of main plot points but i feel like knowing about them didn't detract from the feeling of experiencing them firsthand.
