Headcanons for Jason Grace being sick and needing to be taken care of?

"It's okay to not be okay."

synopsis: when jason refuses to admit that he's sick, you refuse to let him overwork himself and force him to let you baby him.

warnings! - tooth rotting fluff, jason being a whiny little creature, you pampering him to the point of him near-breakdown!

jason grace could be trembling with a 104 degree fever and insist on going to help other campers.

this man has the most wonderful immune system that he rarely ever even gets sick in the first place.

howeverrr- when he does, it's like all hell has broke loose in his mind and body.

considering jason's powers to manipulate wind and weather, he gets freezing when sick.

will go through live three boxes of tissues in a day from all the sneezing

(has the cutest fucking sneeze whenever hes not feeling good and you fawn over him even more than usual)

literally so damn clingy whenever hes sick too

he's practically making you a human blanket due to how cold he is (under two MORE blankets)

in the early stages of sickness, he'll deny that he feels bad and try to cram in as much praetor work as humanly possible.

lowkey has no idea you actually want to take care of him and help him get better since he's basically had to take care of himself his whole life

this boy is so damn difficult to take care of bc he insists that he has work to do (he has deadly pneumonia :)!)

he is undoubtedly in bed for the rest of the day

he wakes up like three hours later, still a little cold but wrapped in the arms of the most perfect human he's ever seen.

"mornin' sweet boy."

if people could melt like snowmen, jason would be a puddle.

"hi."

he squeaked, gazing up at you with those loving eyes and dilated pupils.

his glasses rest on the nightstand, his arms around your waist.

his hair was insanely messy, but it was quite endearing considering he always tried to have his hair perfect.

i feel like whenever he's sick, his skin gets super hypersensitive.

so, with every soft kiss to his forehead, ever gentle touch of skin on skin, a quite whimper would be pulled from his mouth.

after ever embarrassing noise (only embarrassing to him, you're reeling every time he whimpers), his face would flush, and he would avoid eye contact.

after a little longer of sleepy noises and gentle touches, he'd drift back to sleep without a care in the world.

overall, taking care of him is a solid 8/10 :)))

I hate drawing Jason on purpose because every time I pay attention on it I can't draw him the way I imagine, but this will have to do, I like the bottom right shape for his jaw though!

I would change Leo's eyes, but I stayed awake the whole night and it's 6am now, time to mimir (and I think I'll change Leo's undertone later, in the tablet screen it was too yellowish so I tried to cool it down a bit, but it was normal, I like this shade though!)

did the show just delete the fact that percy was a wanted criminal in the entirety of the lightning thief? gabe gave an interview, blaming percy for sally's dissappearence, which made him the primary suspect. like the police was after him when they blew up the bus and his iconic 'my stepdad is a really sweet person' speech to a journalist after jumping from saint monica arc, people conspiring that they were manipulated into a t*rrorist group after his fight with ares. like????? where's all that?? where's the good stuff???

I think more fics should include lil bits of southern accent coming from characters from the south.

Will, Leo, Hazel and Annabeth all start talking to eachother and suddenly you're hearing four different southern accents coming out

I mean already talked about the big three boys and them all having a partner from the south. But add Frank in there who's not even from the US and they all just starring like :0

Annabeth' Virginia accent hardly noticed cause she left there when she was pretty young, only to come out with certain words

Hazel's having a New Orleans accent is *slept* on y'all.

Which, also means on the Argo II anytime they were discussing and accents might've go thicker as they spoke faster you had the other four just starring like "mhm-yep-"

But like you also had a new yorker and a Canadian there as well as a guy that was raised by wolves so- accents must've been interesting on that ship XD

(Also-southern Lee Fletcher hc, mainly cause I'm shocked none of the children of Apollo we have a birth place for so far are from around Nashville. Come on, it's literally Music City. )

I like to think that pre-Oracle Rachel painted scenes from both wars, but she and Percy have no idea until they go back and reflect.

Percy notices, cause Rachel shows him her art, but he just rights it off as weird, even tho something doesn’t feel right.

Like, that’s DEFINITELY a replica Achilles mourning Patroclus. Only it’s two girls, one with flowing hair and a melted face, the other kneeling over her friend, face stricken with grief. He thinks her eyes look familiar. An immortal stands over them. Although they remind more of Ares and less of Thetis.

She has another painting that reminds Percy of a story from the Gigantomachy. Hera cowers under Porphyrion, about to be attacked. Only instead of Zeus and Heracles coming to her aid, it’s a guy with blond hair. His armor and sword is distinctively NOT Greek, but he opts to not comment on it. Rachel did a good job.

There’s more in her little studio, they both dismiss them as dreams. They make Rachel uncomfortable and Percy feels bile rise the more he looks.

He doesn’t realize until months later. It hits him while on the Argo. Him, Jason, Clarisse. THEY were the heroes in those paintings. Jason was the one coming to Hera’s aid. Clarisse was mourning Selina. He was fighting giants.

It all clicked into place, and he tried to remember what else her paintings for-told.

Percy loves to puppy wrestle his friends.

Often, it's with Jason. It's extra challenging and they always go until theyre tired and out of breath unless someone stops them. He likes the way Jason growls when Percy is about to start winning the match. He likes the way he can tell the exact moment he's riled up Jason just enough that he gives him that about-to-pounce wolfish gaze---the one that means Percy has about two seconds to dodge before he gets grabbed and pulled into another play fight, held in a playful chokehold or pinned to the couch. He likes that moment where Jason holds him in that specific way where Percy knows that he can squirm right out of Jason's hands if he just twists the right way, but sometimes chooses not to quite yet. He likes when Jason wins, too, and finds a new hold that Percy has a harder time getting out of---when Percy can see the little spark in his blue eyes like a flash of lightning, but his mouth is a playful smile across his face, and he's laughing and out of breath. Percy likes the way he can get Jason to let go if he pretends that Jason's grip is too tight and hurting him, but he has to be convincing enough because Jason can sometimes tell by the lack of tension in Percy's body and the pulse in his wrist when he's really not uncomfortable at all and milking it for attention.

He tries to wrestle with Grover once in a while, but it usually just turns into cuddling because Grover gets bored and gives in too easily, going slack in Percy's arms. It's not as exciting, but Percy doesn't let go; he just sighs and keeps holding his best friend because he likes the cuddles, too.

Frank is fun to wrestle with. He's big enough to comfortably pick Percy up and toss him around, but he's much gentler than Jason and not really as concerned with winning. Even so, wrestling him is a challenge, especially if Percy can get him invested enough to actually try to beat him.

Wrestling with Leo is fun in a different way. Between their difference in size and strength and Percy's talent for a grip like an octopus, it's not much of a challenge for Percy to hold onto Leo, but it's fun to feel Leo get more frustrated as he keeps trying to squirm away. Percy likes to let him slip a little every few minutes, giving him a little bit of hope, before easily dragging Leo back in. Despite Leo's efforts and grumbles of frustration, though, it's clear he's not too serious about getting away---anytime Percy gets bored or tired and decides to let him go, he comes back a minute or two later for more. (Leo needs all the physical contact he can get, and Percy isn't too rough with him at all---just happens to have a grip like titanium and a need to trap Leo in it for an obnoxious length of time.)

random riordanverse teeth headcanons for funsies:

actually starting out with not a hc - Percy's teeth aren't straight! He mentions in Sea of Monsters it as one of his insecurities ("[...] or the fact that my two front teeth weren’t perfectly even [...]") I just think that's fun and cute for him

Nico, Hazel, and Percy can all regenerate their teeth. Nico and Hazel for Hades/Pluto kid reasons and Percy for shark reasons. Percy's just regrow normally but Nico and Hazel have to willfully use their powers to grow it back. They can grow other people's teeth back too if they want to though.

Nico has fangs. Technically not "real" fangs but his canine teeth are just unusually sharp to the point where they look like little fangs. Hazel and Bianca perhaps can also have fangs as a treat :3 Hades kids with fangs...

Jason has fake teeth! Like three or so. Unfortunately humans are not built for biting random stuff super hard all the time and he sacrificed a couple teeth because of it.

(If he feels like it he can ask Nico or Hazel to grow his teeth back for him. It probably doesn't last long. Maybe one day he can get fancy fake teeth.)

Lacy has braces. Piper perhaps also had braces when she was younger and probably hated them.

Walt getting fangs when Anubis is present could be very fun.

Alex with fangs is also fun <3

Niche one but i like to theme both Lacy and Ida around rabbits, so both of them having prominent front teeth would be very cute.

Demeter kids with snake fangs! Snakes are sacred to Demeter!

Snakes are also sacred to Apollo, as are wolves/dogs. Dogs are also sacred to Hecate. Many options for funky teeth.

Will was born without wisdom teeth, cause that's a thing that can happen. He's just never gonna grow 'em and ergo never need them removed.

Headcannons!

Nico does gymnastics- he's super flexible.

Will is the complete opposite-stiff as wood but strong.

Jason (who is definitely not dead) loves teamwork games- football (soccer for the americans) basketball, rugby, volleyball, cricket, etc.

Sally and Paul legally adopt Jason and Thalia, and Jason stays in Percy's room when he goes to college.

Annabeth used to read Artemis Fowl and got a lot of tricks from the books.

Nico likes to play DnD, and is always pestering Hades to play with him.

Nico learns how to braid afro hair for Hazel, and does cute braids for her whenever she visits camp.

Leo and Calypso break up and part as friends (manifesting for a future book)

Jason and Leo get together (more manifesting)

Rachel is pan or ace.

Nico and Rachel are beasties, and he goes over to her house to listen to Olivia Rodrigo and MGK

In the Heroes of Olympus series in The blood of Olympus book, Jason takes Piper to a sort of hidden attic skylight in the zeus cabin which he recently discovered right?

That leads my to hc (also known as my cannon) that all big 3 cabins have something like that.

CHB is by the Atlantic Ocean right? So maybe Poseidon cabin has a sort of underground passage that leads to a hidden aquarium type-ish room? A comfy room where percabeth can get some privacy (except fishies), with carpet floors enchanted to not get dusty, strong unbreakable glass walls, with a view of different colorful fishes, corals and whatever.

Perhaps Hades cabin has some sort of underground cave, low lights, kinda like a goth necromancer demigod cave. Optimum for practicing powers and summoning ghosts, without being judged, filled with weapons. But like, also candles and solitude. A place for them to rest and unwind. Maybe with an old fashioned gramophone. Nico trains Hazel here, as I doubt she can train freely with Hades side of her powers in CJ.

okay but imagine jason grace who is with the daughter of neptune who is an ‘underdog’ in camp jupiter. her parentage wasn't valued in camp jupiter because romans didn't use the navy as much. they feared neptune, but didn't respect him. and jason grace, the golden boy, was only expected to be in love with other ‘perfect’ people like reyna to hold up the ‘royal’ leader couple reputation. the daughter of neptune had no choice but to be put in the worst cohort, and endured judgy stares from campers. as though they were waiting for her to create a storm so big that it would wash away the whole city.

but jason is love with her. it's a romeo and juliet situation where they both have to sneak out to see eachother because the upper cohort did their best to make sure they both don't get too close with eachother. fearing the chaos that would ensue, had the two rival parentage kids ever interacted. reyna would be aware of the secret relationship, and would support it wholeheartedly, even covering for them, being best friends with jason and the daughter of neptune as children.

the daughter of neptune always feels as though he and reyna would've been a better match, agreeing with the camps harsh standards. and has an inferiority complex. jason would have to reassure her and give her so much love and words of affirmation.

ok so here's the thing about jercy. they're like an onion, they have layers

they are totally boyfriends that call each other dude and bro all the fucking time, they tease each other and joke around, they get into dumb competitions with each other and their banter is top notch

but they're also. all over each other. and not like in a making out in front of everyone kind of way but like you can't tell me jason isn't touch-starved and i just know that his sweet, empathetic, emotionally intelligent percy is going to pick up on that. so Percy is always touching Jason, an arm over his shoulder or resting his hand on the small of his back or holding hands while they patrol with their swords in their dominant hands. jason probably doesn't realize how badly he needs it until he gets it and then he doesn't know how to ask for it but percy delivers anyways. eventually jason works his way up to using his words and even initiating the contact he craves all by himself

bottom line they are soft for each other, as leaders of their camps it's hard for them to let their guard down but with each other they can because they know the other just gets it and they feel safe. you don't think jason absolutely breaks down crying on percy's chest after meeting sally and comparing it to his own mother, while percy holds him through it and reassures him that sally is his family too? you don't think jason will stay up all night holding percy when the nightmares get to be too much? i think these two are able to open up much more to each other than anyone else. they're both the big spoon, they're both the little spoon, they each need it sometimes ok

but just because they're soft and in love does not mean they don't go hard on each other in training, they fight in the arena without holding back. they're still super competitive with one another whether it's sword fighting, demigod abilities, or dumb stuff (including but not limited to flirting and making the other blush). they know the other can take it

but oh my gods if one of them gets hurt? they are so fucking protective. between percy 'loyalty is my fatal flaw' jackson and jason 'raised by wolves' grace they would do anything, go absolutely feral, to keep the the other safe from any threat, real or perceived, because they're so precious to one another. these traits probably also lead into some possessiveness but like they're into it and i promise it's not in a toxic way it's just very low-key they know they don't like "own" each other alright

so like yeah they can be pushing each other around bro-ing out almost looking like they're just friends, or you can question how they can look ready to kill each other when they spar, but you gotta look for the subtle things. look in their eyes, they can't keep the absolute love and adoration out of their eyes. and remember, as touchy as they are when they're relaxing around camp, you will never see what they're like when it's just themselves (hint it's a complete mashup of bro shit and soft love and passion), and if you try getting too close to either boyfriend they will both instantly shut you down
