sooo jumping right into it :) her being all "i'm not a stereotypical feminine girl" kinda makes sense considering she's native american and ppl constantly sexualise girls of their culture. also the only female role models she would have had growing up would be women in the film industry and they aren't exactly NOT sexualised by public eyes. her first hand experiences with femininity have always been associated with inferiority and shallowness and surface level beauty.

also even if rick didn't intend for her to be queer from the start, she was VERY comphet lesbian coded. the way she always thought about jason was very reminiscent of when i was young and trying to convince myself i had a crush on this guy. also jason & piper's memories together were literally FAKED by hera. ppl talk about that when expressing admiration for jason but conveniently forget about it when it comes to piper like really?? and did i forget the daddy issues me & piper both share????

that girl had SEVERE insecurities about being incompetent (again, complicated relationship with femininity.. also among the 7) despite probably being the one who's single-handedly saved them from troubles the most number of times out of all the 7.

Can we pretty please talk about how no matter which character's pov it is, the first time we see them meet Octavian he's always described as tall. Percy described Jason (6'0) as a couple of inces taller than himself, but for Octavian he didn't bother making a comparison, he just said "Tall" so now I'm imagining Octavian to be Tall tall. Taller than everyone. Like, almost 7'0 tall, of not exactly 7'0. Like.

But also he's tall and skinny and weird.

And Jason is kinda upset that Octavian is taller than him and he tries to make himself look taller when standing beside Octavian and they end up fighting about it kinda toddlers.

Reyna is the only adult person here and she told me to tell you to send help.

A post I wanted to make that I kinda forgot until today.

Something that I have seen no one mention. Either because I'm stupid and just realized it or it's obvious, and no one wants to talk about it.

The 7 are connected in some way. What I mean by this?

I mean that 6 out of 7 members of the Argo II crew have some from of bond that connect a least a member from the Greeks to the Roman's and vice-versa.

Jason and Annabeth have a connection to Thalia. Rick portrayed her as having the role of an older sister too both of them. To Jason, she was his biological sister and to Annabeth to the found family variety. Basically, what I mean that she was their older sister and caretaker to both kids, and I won't be surprised if Thalia saw Jason in Annabeth, hence her protectivess towards her.

Frank and Percy are related to Poseidon. Percy is closely related to Poseidon, being his son, while Frank, his relation to him is very distant, being a legacy. Frank's ancestor managed to survive long enough to reach the modern day, while Percy thought that the Great Prophecy would be his doom.

Finally, Leo and Hazel, who both have a close connection to Sammy, Leo's great grandfather. Hazel personally knew him, but Leo only had heard of the guy, and that only by name from his grandfather, Sammy Junior.

So we have Thalia, Poseidon, and Sammy. A demigod, a god and a mortal connecting them.

The only one that doesn't have a connection is Piper. You could argue because Piper is related to the guy who started the Greek-Roman God split in the first place.

Either Rick pulled this by accident and played along with it, or he actually thought about it.

Whatever it is I love it.

Now imagine an older Percy, maybe after losing Jason getting in an argument with his mum and Sally using Perseus. And his hand is already in his pocket, eyes wide open looking out for danger. And she just breaks.

Okay so I, like many kids who read and loved PJO, found out that gay people existed because I read House of Hades. Tbh that memory has burned itself into my mind and I think about it constantly and so I just want to rant about it. So, here it goes:

I was twelve years old and was sitting in a brewery that my mom wanted to go to, reading a copy of HOH that I checked out from the school library. I got to the part where Zephyr (or whatever his name was) mentioned Apollo's and Hyacinth's myth right before the Cupid scene and I distinctly remember feeling really weird when I read that.

Obviously, I didn't know that two people of the same gender being in love was possible. Literally up to that point I thought that if two people of the same gender were married then they were just really good best friends 🤣. And also I think at that moment I assumed that if my parents didn't bother to tell me that two people of the same gender could be together then it must've been wrong or inappropriate or something. Literally my thought process during that whole sequence was "okay... That's weird.... I'll just ignore that and remember it as 'Apollo and Hyacinthia' instead" and to this day I still find it kinda funny.

So, yeah I just decided to put a pin in it for now and wait until I finished the book to decide whether to just completely ignore my discovery or to maybe do more research on my phone later.

But of course came the Cupid scene and oh my god let me tell you twelve-year-old me was shook. Literally eyes wide, jaw dropped, totally shocked. I think I was in shock for about three days after that.

I distinctly remember googling afterwards if Nico really did like Percy to see if what I just read was actually true and then I was looking for spoilers about whether Nico would later tell anyone else about it and what their reactions were. And it was this googling that made me discover the word "gay" as well as introducing me to fanfiction.

So, yeah it's nothing too crazy but idk this just had a great impact on me and I wanted to get it out.

Okay, @haruspexs shut up and hear me out right now for a moment.

Jason and Octavian both have blue eyes, blond hair, are white and tall. Jason takes all that after his mother. His mother is an actress. Who's to say that after Zeus left her to raise Thalia alone, she didn't had a fling with a coworker, who was working in the acting industry as well? Someone really rich, who's very famous because of his talent, that he takes after his father, Apollo?

He gets her pregnant, she has a child with him, a child that's a legacy of Apollo. They decide tp stay together and raise their son together, but then she has an affair with Jupiter and gets pregnant again. Her husband is heartbroken. He leaves her and gets custody of their son in the divorce (he had an advantage since she has a history with alcohol problems and she had an affair too). Him and his son are gone before the new baby is born, and baby Jason never meets his long gone older brother.

Until the brother in question is eleven and shipped off to New Rome because it was revealed that he has the gift of augury.

Jason doesn't have stories of his mother or sister to share, he barely remembers them. Octavian was only four the last time he saw his mom and older half sister. He doesn't talk about them a lot because he doesn't remember them very well + every time he tried asking about them his dad got very sad/upset/angry, so at some point he stopped asking.

They might find out they're half brothers. Or they might not. I'll leave that up to you.
