Percy Jackson is against bullying.

He is however very sad that neither Annabeth, Clarrise or Drew had met Octavian in camp Jupiter, because as much as he frowns on it he would pay any kind of money to see those three tear him a new one for acting like a little bitch he is.

Watching Sally Jackson as an adult is insane because as a kid, when Percy said “the best people always have the rottenest luck” I was like Yeah, her family died and that sucks, but now I’m like Actually, this woman got pregnant at like 19 and was then left by the guy, who was not just a guy but a god, knowing that the child she was left with would very likely never grow old, and ever since then she’s been pooring all of her love into this kid trying to protect him, trying to give him a normal life while preparing him for a future he might never see, scared to death and alone and stuck in an abusive marriage while unable to leave because she had to stay For Percy, and she Still Made It!!

One day she is going to see the top of the Empire State Building light up blue and she will know that her baby is safe and she will let go of a breath she’s been holding since before he was even born. She will get to lean back into the arms of a man who loves and respects her, and all the love she has been giving so fiercely for years and years will come back to her and I cant wait for this to happen.

Ok so, I’ve talked about names having meaning in the pjo universe but rn I’m gonna focus on Nico Di Angelo.

Background context first

We all know that Percy got his name from Perseus, a Greek hero with a happy ending.

We also see how characters with other mythological names share the same fates (even minor characters like Castor and Pollux)

Percy spends the first five books reliving other Greek myths, (the first one I always think about is The Sea of monsters -> The odyssey) he’s retelling stories that have already happened before.

In a weird way he’s kinda proving Luke right- (that’s a rant for another day)

My actual point

What about Nico?

Nicos character signifies change, we are told this in tsats.

There is no Nico in Greek mythology. There is no Niccolò in Greek mythology.

The name Niccolò actually means “victor of people” or “people’s champion”.

Nico is in charge of his own story, unlike many of his camp mates, he’s not doomed by the narrative.

It’s his own story for the making.

A story nobody has told yet.

While we can guess what happens to others characters due to their namesake, with Nico we will never know.

All we know is that he will be different from the rest, he gets to write and tell his own story.

Nobody else’s.

Just Nicos.

I love that the beginning of ep 4 shows that Sally is not perfect. She’s done being patient she’s scared she’s trying to prepare her son for something terrifying that she can’t tell him about and she looses it a bit. But Percy’s reaction shows how much love and trust there is between them because a child that young doesn’t know to calm someone in this way unless he’s been shown it, his first instinct is empathy and love, and I just absolutely adore Sally for not being some Holy Mary Mother of Christ who can Do No Wrong but just a young woman who loves her son so much and so deeply it’s insane.
