My hot take is that it should have been Rebecca, not Ted, who talked to Jamie about his father in 3x11. Here are my reasons:

1. So much of Rebecca's arc is about recovering from an abusive relationship while her abuser is still, somewhat unavoidably, part of her life. Her experience with Rupert and Jamie's experience with his father aren't identical, but she knows better than anyone else at Richmond how it feels to have someone like that turn up at her place of work, and how stressful their planned encounters are, even when they're just in the same large stadium and don't need to directly interact.

2. As the owner of the club, Rebecca almost certainly knows what happened at Wembley, and she's not only well-placed to make practical arrangements like getting James banned from the match (since none of them knew he wouldn't be there) but also, as of 3x10, has come to terms with with her relationship with Rupert — both the good parts and the many, many bad parts — in a way that enables her to interact with him when necessary without massive emotional distress, while also keeping very firm boundaries in place. Basically, she, unlike Ted, could offer advice based on relevant personal experience.

3. Jamie could finally find out that Ted didn't have him sent back to Man City — while it would be nice for Ted to say it, Rebecca is better placed to give the full story, and she and Jamie have a lot in common when it comes to expressing their hurt in a way that leaves a lot of collateral damage.

4. Explains why they're hugging in the finale.

if you're talking about the thing he just said on ig, it's far more liberal/two-state solution-y than previous things he's said about palestine and that annoys me!!! don't get me wrong it Does annoy me!!! but i don't find it devastatingly disappointing. moreso just..... careful. and based on just the pure heartburn and insomnia this genocide has caused me, i wouldn't have been careful, personally!!!! like i think the bit about hamas at the start and the generic bits about "peace" were definitely just preemptive answers to zionist "criticism" even if i don't like his phrasing of calling the bombardment on gaza a "disproportionate" action (because no action under apartheid would have been proportionate, it's just not possible). other than that i don't have reason to believe he's not pro-palestinian based on prior things he's said likening palestine to the irish struggle and his photographer ruth has been very outspokenly pro-palestinian so i can only hope these are fully fleshed out conversations he's having outside of very polished and careful social media statements. i can also send him my copy of the wretched of the earth, i don't mind doing that

'The good people at the David Lean have devised a two-hour amble around Sanderstead and Riddlesdown to show off the locations that play a key part of one of the best recent British-made movies...

The David Lean Cinema crew are doing their utmost to bring films to life, and next month they are going on a special walking tour of the locations used in the making of Andrew Haigh’s acclaimed 2023 movie, All Of Us Strangers.

Haigh came to Croydon earlier this year to talk about the film, and Croydon’s role in it, which was recorded an Under The Flyover podcast. The David Lean Cinema will be screening All Of Us Strangers again next month (on Wednesday, September 11).

Now volunteers from the David Lean Cinema are offering a guided tour of the film’s locations, on Saturday September 14, from 1.45pm meeting at Riddlesdown Station.

“The tour will be stopping off at some of the main locations that were used for the filming of All of Us Strangers,” they say.

“The tour end point will be Sanderstead Station around 4pm.”

Places are limited, with only 20 spaces available.

Caitlin Clifford describes the film as “a beautiful ode to both family and home”.

Filmed in the summer of 2022, All Of Us Strangers features not only Haigh’s old home on Purley Downs Road, but other locations around Sanderstead, including the railway station, the Recreation Ground and the high street.

It also shows bona fide stars Scott, Foy and Bell leisurely making their way through the Whitgift Centre – a shot that received laughter and cheers from the Croydon audience during the April screening at the David Lean. The guided walk won’t be extending to a shopping trip in central Croydon, though...'

Plz tell us what you think Jamie smells like when he's not training (I'm sure he doesn't smell like lynx outside of work)

To be honest, nonny, I’m not fully convinced Jamie doesn’t smell of Lynx outside of work – and I do remain rather fond of the notion that Lynx was something he thought of as fancy when he was a poor kid and as soon as he could afford it he began to indulge, and now it’s just habit and positive connotations. (And I mean, not all Lynx scents are bad! Some are quite nice! It’s just not the luxury brand you’d expect someone constantly walking around in expensive brand clothes to pick.)

That said, I think we can count on our fashion-forward boy to have some other and actually nice scents stowed away for special occasions and such! For instance, Boss Bottled Pacific by Hugo Boss might be something he picked up this summer – it’s a warm, fairly sweet scent, with aromatic notes from the coconut and cypress layered over fresh citrus and wood. It’s playful, fun, modern and a little unusual, without getting too silly – and I think Jamie would prefer that over a very clean or masculine or classic scent. There’s some salt in there as well, mingling with the sweetness, and making it a nice match symbolically for our darling prick!

5. Is there any scene you're excited about writing?

So I had several word game wednesday prompts that found snippets of a Jamie is held hostage fic. And I’d started writing it before season 3 so it has been a long one.

But I got pumped for it again with all this fresh attention.

I am excited to write the first Proof of Life video scene. Where the kidnappers use a suss video streaming website to do a live feed. It’s the same one they used to get Jamie to agree to go quietly with them. I think this one will be less fraught than the subsequent ones. Cause those will be designed to actively provoke getting paid quicker without as much time to plan.

11. Is there any scene you can't wait for people to react to when reading? Why?

I mean, for sure that. But I wanna see everyone lose their minds for the second and third videos. Cause those are the grim and grisly ones. And I am, at heart, a prick.

I've always thought Roy would be super mean and strict during scenes and then EXTREMELY sweet and affectionate afterwards. Like uncharacteristically disgustingly sweet. Complete juxtaposition to his normal demeanor. The first time they do an s&m scene Jamie is lying on his face in bed afterwards and Roy helps him sit up and kisses his face and is like "how are you feeling, my sweet little lovebug?" and Jamie (who is fucking whacked out fully in subspace) is like ????? who ARE you what is going ON
