Nunn's Cats from 1981 with implementation of a similar technique of loosely connected "numbers" but this time with original compositions by A. L. Webber travestying most popular songs by the stars of the stage such as The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, ELO, Locomotive GT and others, which ensured it's popularity all over the world. The confirmation of this fact is that this show played in Germany in a theatre in Bochum was seen by 10 million people, similarly in USA, Mexico, Australia and Japan."

Thomas Stearns Eliot (1888-1965), an American poet active in England, couldn't have imagined that his humble book of kids poems about cats would become an inspiration for the most unusual and most popular musical of the 1980s. It was possible not only thanks to him, but also an excellent playwright Trevor Nunn and most importantly the beautiful music of Andrew Lloyd Webber, who in this show basically devoid of dramaturgy put all available genres of music with special attention on the final song of the first act, "Memory", sung by the main character of the show - Grizabella - played by Elaine Paige in the premiere London show, the same one who was the first one to play the role of Evita Peron in a different famous musical by Webber."

Bucky Barnes x Reader

Summary: Y/N aka Miss Velvet, is a disabled equestrian and therapeutic riding instructor who helped Tony Stark with his PTSD after returning from Titan. When the Avengers bought everyone back he hired her to work with the Avengers and SHIELD hired her to work with their agents as therapist and teaching basic riding skills because you never know when a horse will be the best mode of transportation.

Bucky Barnes is a manwhore who is enjoying his freedom for the first time in decades and pays no mind to y/n when she meets the team because he knows how to ride and is always on the prowl for his next conquest.

Post Endgame but everybody survived, because I said so. Written before TFATWS or any of the multiverse saga. Steve helped get Sharon Carter pardoned so they are together.

Chapter 1

Warnings: swearing, marijuana use

Monday morning and Y/N was starting her biggest project yet. After extensive discussions with Tony Stark and Gen Ross for the last month, agreements were finally reached and she would be working with SHIELD agents to give riding lessons to any agent that isn't proficient AND equine therapy for physical and mental health concerns, when deemed appropriate.

When she stopped by the veterans center a few months after half the world disappeared, she never imagined that she would end up working with Tony Stark. She had only gone there in hopes that she might run into Sam Wilson. They met a few times when she was in DC lobbying to have therapeutic horsemanship covered for veterans.

Sadly, Y/N found out Sam had been taken in the snap but she ended up making friends with Steve Rogers.

Steve contacted Pepper and gave her Y/N's number to see if she could help Tony who wasn't doing well after Thanos and everything that went down.

Steve also introduced her to Nat and they��had bonded over multiple trail rides and girls day/nites.

Now the snap had been reversed, bringing everyone back and Nick Fury was so impressed with her work with Tony that he wanted all agents to have access to Y/N and her horses.

Y/N was hoping that everyone would be receptive and that she could help them.

Staring in the mirror, trying to look good without looking like she's trying, while also being dressed comfortably enough to head over to her stable to give tours and orientation without needing to change.

She shook her head, sure seemed like all of the Avengers rolled an 18 charisma because how could so many of them be so pretty? More intimidating than any actual powers they might have.

She sighed, fixed her hair into her favorite work style, used her moisturizer/sun screen, some mascara and a light dusting of powder, accepting that she was too tall and plain looking to be noticed anyhow.

She'd had a bit of a celebrity crush on James Barnes when she learned about him and Steve Rogers in high school and was a little nervous about meeting him but was sure he wouldn't be interested in someone like her. At almost 6ft tall and what might be considered heavy by some standards, most guys never noticed her. Especially ones as pretty as James Barnes.

Her "uniform" of Jeans, tank top with a purple flannel and purple boots that match her belt with the Disney belt buckle. She threw her cane and a couple of edibles in her bag, in case the pain got bad, then grabbed the keys to her little SUV and headed over to the compound. It was only a couple of miles but she had too much to do later and didn't want to start the day angering her back or knee walking.

A presentation to all of the available agents, lunch with the Avengers and then give a tour around her stable with the mightiest heroes. Busiest day she's had in a while.

First, the meeting introducing her to all the agents that were on-site and let them know about her and the stable she ran. All of the agents were required to have at least one lesson with her to evaluate their riding skills to ensure they were at least competent. Those who need further instruction would be scheduled for lessons.

Y/N also spoke about therapeutic horsemanship and how she could help with physical therapy after injuries and on the ground work for PTSD and other mental health concerns.

Next, a meeting/lunch with the Avengers.

After lunch she went back to the stable to give a tour to the Avengers. Answer questions, schedule lessons and evals for each of them.

She also ran a stable closer to the city for special needs and at risk youth but was only able to be there 1-2 days a week since her contract with SHIELD stipulated that she personally oversaw any lessons or therapy for their agents.

Her former trainer and mentor, Mike, was in charge of that site but she had him onsite to meet the SHIELD crowd.

The presentation with agents and team leaders went well. All she had to do is get thru this luncheon with the Earth's Mightiest Heroes and she can go back to the stable where she was in her element.

When she arrived at the conference room she could hear that they all seemed to be in good spirits which was a good start.

Y/N took a deep breath, slowly released it and walked through the open doorway. As soon as she was in the room everyone quieted down and looked over at her while she smiled and looked at Tony.

Tony spoke up, "Alright campers, I'd like to introduce a new official member to our family that's actually been with us since right after the snap. This is Y/N, aka Miss Velvet, our own Horse Whisperer. Y/N, you know Steve and Nat so there's Wilson-"

"Oh, I know this lady" interrupted Sam. "She's done some good lobbying work to push the VA to cover therapeutic horsemanship for Vets. Used to stop by the Center for lunch whenever she was in town." He stood up to give her a hug.

"I told you I'd get you on a horse one of these days, Sam" Y/N threatened with a big grin.

"As I was saying" Tony interrupted "after Wilson, there's Barnes"

Bucky looked up, gave her a once over, smirked and grunted before returning to his phone.

"Wanda, Vision, Barton, Banner and the spider kid."

Everyone smiled, said Hello and Y/N smiled back at them. She then went on to explain the program, that everyone needed to be evaluated even the Avengers.

She also touched on the benefits of therapeutic horsemanship in the saddle and on the ground. Giving some examples of the benefits she herself had seen, for her rehab after her accident and some of the riders she had worked with.

Y/N had a smile and practically glowed when talking about her work making it obvious how much she loved it.

Bucky spoke up "I learned how to ride years ago, so don't need any lessons"

Velvet smiled, "That will be up to me, everyone needs to be evaluated, even Fury had to ride and he's a natural"

Bucky frowned and shrugged, "if you say so." Before going back to his phone.

When she asked if there were any questions, Sam spoke up "Yeah, what's up with the aka Miss Velvet?"

Y/N smiled "I started riding and fell in love with horses when I was 6. When I met my partner Mike, I was a troubled teen with a serious case of horse fever but was also being pulled in another direction that included older boys, alcohol and weed. After getting busted cutting school, my mom sent me off to work at a stable where her boyfriend was working, for 'punishment'. Mike was the head trainer and saw something in me while I chatted with the horses as I mucked out stalls. He took me on, upped my training and we became close. I started calling him Mi, like Mickey Rooney's character from National Velvet. He started calling me Velvet and it stuck."

Lunch was great, Y/N had finally relaxed when it felt like the team accepted her and enjoyed their camaraderie and banter.

Velvet stood up and got ready to leave, digging for an edible to ease the pain from the stress that has held her since this project was mentioned to Ross.

"Alright, lunch was delicious but I need to get over to my stable before the team leaders show up and start getting into things or upset Mi. I'll see y'all there around 3." Y/N said as she stood up to leave. Everyone said goodbye as she walked out.

Shortly before 3, people start pulling up to Velvet's home and stable. She walked out with a cheerful black pit bull by her side. "Don't worry, Indy won't hurt anyone unless I tell him to or they try to hurt me."

Indy almost knocked Nat down in his excitement to see her and he insisted on going around and checking everyone out before they passed thru the gate.

"The old man over here is Mike, my mentor and adopted uncle. He might step in sometimes if I'm not available."

Mike nodded and shook hands with the Avengers he hadn't met yet.

Velvet showed everyone where the tack room is "For those who aren't really familiar with horses, tack is what we call the saddles we sit on and the bridles we use to control the horse."

She introduced them to some of the horses "First is Duke, he's a thoroughbred cross and was my first therapy horse after my accident, also the oldest here at 25. Next is Laredo a quarter horse, mostly, and he's 19. Heidi is a Norwegian Fjord, who is much stronger than she looks and 12. Bubbles is a mutt who was found wandering after the snap, we figured his owners were gone, and is around 16."

Tony interrupted, "Don't you mean Ozzy?"

Shaking her head Velvet replied "that's your nickname for him, Tony, not his actual name."

"Ozzy is a way cooler name than Bubbles. Who names a boy horse Bubbles?" grumbled Tony.

Velvet shook her head, "anyhow, last but def not least is my girl Lexi, she's a Gypsy Vanner and Tennessee Walker mix that Mi gave me because she has a smooth gait that's easy on my back. I'm the only one who rides her unless you really impress me or suck up in a major way. There are more but they're at the other stable while Tony completes the rest of the upgrades he insisted on making."

Tony scoffed, "You'll love that covered, temperature controlled arena when it's freezing outside or raining. Besides, Morgan needs a safe place for her lessons"

Velvet rolled her eyes at him

"So, who wants to schedule their evaluation? I have more tours with SHIELD tomorrow but we are pretty clear after that. Or you can call, text or email me and let me know but I'm supposed to get everyone evaluated within 90 days so don't dawdle."

"You want to go out and get dinner with us, Y/N?" Asked Nat.

"Thanks, Nat, but my back has had enough for today so I'm going to go take a hot bath, throw some jammies on and order in" Velvet replied

"We could just hang here then" offered Steve.

"As long as y'all can handle a slightly messy house, a dog who's allowed on the furniture and me in my comfy clothes. In fact, you big strong heroes can help me feed these beasts"

Velvet showed them the feed shed and the chart listing what each horse was given for supplements, in addition to their hay.

Once everything was cleaned up they headed across the yard to Velvet's house. She left them to order pizza and took a quick shower instead of a bath since she had company waiting. The heat helped relax her muscles some but it was a long day and she was hurting so popped a candy while she dried her hair.

She threw on some shorts, a big t-shirt and some fluffy slippers then walked out to ask "is the food here yet? I'm starving. I hope you ordered some drinks because I have water, nonfat milk and some teabags."

"Don't worry, I remember your distaste for grocery shopping" Steve assured her.

Once the food arrived and everyone was sitting around the living room which had a couple of loveseats and a nice recliner which Velvet advised everyone was her spot.

Bruce asked, "Why is the dogs name Indy? Are you from Indiana?"

Laughing, Velvet tried to reply but was interrupted by Peter trying to sound like Sean Connery but failing miserably, "We named the dog Indiana."

Velvet laughed at his terrible impersonation saying "One of the best movies ever, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, I have it if you wanna watch" then she saw that it was almost 10pm. "Nevermind, not tonite, us horse crazy girls have early mornings."

Everyone helped clean up the trash and said goodnite. Velvet went to bed after hitting a joint a couple of times and reflected on how well the day went, then dreamed about bright blue eyes.

I never liked the Christopher Reeve Superman movies as a kid. I always found them boring, in the same way I found the Burton and Schumacher Batman films kind of dull. The only live action DC adaptation that works almost 100% of the time is Batman 1966. Adam West is amazing. And all of the villains know it's okay to ham up the acting and chew the scenery. Frank Gorshin, Burgess Meredith, Cesar Romero, they're all amazing. I love Batman 1966 so much. We needed superhero films and shows to stay that way. Silly and fun. The realism is boring. You want melodrama! You want mania and charm! You want bright colours and exaggerated performances.

The second best live action DC show might be George Reeves's performance as Superman. That show seems pretty good (from the few clips i've seen). It's just a shame that show never used any of superman's rogues. Imagine Lex Luthor, Brainiac, The Toymaker, The Prankster and all those characters in the style of Batman 1966. That would be amazing. Lex Luthor is boring when we learn too hard into the elitist wealth stuff. Honestly, i'd just go all out and play him like a bond villain. Death traps, lasers, hell, why not just give him a pet cat? I don't care if it's a stereotype, it's entertaining.

Actually, I just looked it up. Apparently Clancy Brown's Lex Luthor voice was inspired by Telly Savalas as Ernst Blofield in James Bond. And I just compared the voices. God, I literally can barely tell them apart. Clancy Brown and Telly Savalas sound nearly identical. It's almost impressive. So i guess i wasn't the only one thinking of bond villian tributes. Still, Lex Luthor doesn't always do the death trap thing nearly as often as he could (or that's how it feels with modern comics). In the 70s and stuff, I feel like his supervilliany was more pronounced. And i wouldn't hate a return to that.

No one can uncover the circumstances behind why this picture of Roald Dahl and Ernest Hemingway was taken, other than it was in London during the Second World War. Hemingway found himself in Europe from June-December 1944 in his capacity as a war journalist.

Roald Dahl was commissioned into the Royal Air Force and was a frontline fighter pilot showing tremendous courage and bravery and who eventually rose to the rank of wing commander. His flying days came to a premature end after a crash landing that nearly cost him his life. Between 1939-1941 Dahl was the assistant air attache in Washington DC and moved around in those diplomatic and political circles hoping to get some inside information and intelligence on America’s intentions and plans with regarding the war in Europe. Bored by his work he fell into the murky world of intelligence and became part of a Brirish spy ring called ‘The Irregulars’ which included the future James Bond author Ian Fleming. His spy work chiefly consisted of mobilising American opinion. This was at a time when Britain stood alone against the expected Nazi invasion and Britain was hoping to the USA would enter the conflict and thus tilt the balance.

When this photo was taken Dahl was a mere 28 years old and Hemingway was 45 years old. The picture doesn’t really do justice to how tall both men were with Hemingway being 6 feet tall but towered over by Dahl’s 6’6” wiry frame. Clearly Hemingway was already a celebrated author with The Sun Also Rises, A Farewell to Arms, and For Whom the Bell Tolls already published. Dahl, by contrast, hadn’t written anything significant yet - like his friend and colleague Ian Fleming - other than his children’s book, The Gremlins, in 1943.

It’s speculative to imagine that Dahl, the inventive intelligence officer and aspiring author, somehow contrived a meeting with the old lion, hoping to get some writing tips.

10. worst part of fanon

Don't get me wrong, I like a butch lady, but I don't know why everyone wants to make Cass so gender non-conforming. (I mean. I do know why.) In canon she leans heavily into high fashion aesthetic. Some of that reads a little more masculine these days than when they were drawn, but, like, not that much more masculine? And even when they are, they're paired with things that, if anything, read even more feminine now than at the time.

She loves her girly clothes! She loves cutesy fun soft things! She loves bright colors! Her casual clothes are the opposite of her costume, and that's by design! Her attraction to ballet as an artform is a visual struggle between her desire to look feminine and the fact that she never got a chance to do that in her childhood, while she was forcibly degendered by a white man, and then infantilized by everyone else around her. People cite that one picture of her in a tux, and it's like, that's because she's imagining herself as James Bond, and also, femme tuxes are a recent fashion trend.

If you want butch/femme StephCass, which, like, you also don't actually need one of each, why don't you butch up Steph? She wears a lot of androgynous or masculine clothing, and not that much super feminine clothing, and she doesn't like dressing up which you can easily read as a gender presentation thing. Steph can be butch and Cass can be femme and I never see it.

Cass isn't gender non-conforming! She's definitely not gender non-conforming enough to call herself a man! She'd be Batwoman if she took on the role, not Batman!

13. worst blorboficiation

Damian. I get projecting on him and using him to deal with all your personal issues, and that's fine, since he's basically a self-insert in the first place (with all love to Grant; they did a wonderful job). I expect a fair amount of variability in characterization and even think it's kind of fun, because as a kid/teen, he should be trying out lots of different looks and attitudes and interests. So, you know, the people who lean hard into Stabby Baby Loves Stabbing or Tortured Assassin Renounces Assassinry don't bother me.

...but you don't have to make it so flat. I swear, so many of them just avoid ever having any conflict in his personality. And he's a conflicted character! That's the joy of him! Whatever his conflicts are about can change, but he's the kind of character who thinks a lot about things and then can't decide exactly how he feels. He's done things he's not proud of, he wants to do things but he's not sure how, he does things the best way he can but he makes mistakes. People make him 100% right or 100% wrong and that's not how people are, not even when they're kids. Or they make all the conflicts romantic.

I feel this is especially true of him as a background character where people feel like they need to include him just because he's a Robin or whatever. So they go, oh, hey, his fans used this keyword, and then put him in doing that thing in the background. And people who like him eat it up! And I just feel like, if you don't like a character, don't include them, that's fine. But I also feel like, if you do like a character... have some standards, idk.

16. you can't understand why so many people like this thing (characterization, trope, headcanon, etc)

Character bashing. People just caricature that character's traits to make them more evil and hateful and like, why? I either already hated them, so you don't need to do that, or I didn't hate them, and now I'm wondering if you're alright there, buddy. And then they go and torture the character a whole bunch.

And it's just... if bad things happen to a character, maybe I do want to see that. I'm not immune to hating characters! I want Steve Trevor dumped in a ditch! But the joy of it would be that they're characterized well, but all the other characters hate them for the same reason I hate them. And then bad things happen, but they make sense in the context of the plot and the world.

Also when you have other characters be like 'haha let's torture this person' I'm sort of like. Okay but that's not very nice and now you're making the characters I like seem like, at best, assholes, and at worst... sometimes adult characters will torture a kid character that the author doesn't like, and, I mean, I get it, catharsis, but I'm still going to be like 'Batman why are you a bad person now' if I see that happening. I make actual faces at the words.

Aside from her general and entirely justified dislike for her father, Madison Richards had several other issues with his plan for her to – in his words – seduce the youngest British prince and steal the trade deal out from President Claremont.  To start, judging by the fact that he had never once attempted to sneak a glance down her dresses, Madison suspected that she was far from Prince Henry’s type.  Furthermore, his plan failed to consider the fact that she had spent the whole campaign trail so far sneaking around for clandestine hookups with Alex Claremont-Diaz, the First Son himself.   And, last but certainly not least, her father still had no idea that she had spent her entire time in rehab sleeping with the Prince’s older sister.  But then again, getting herself in close quarters with the Prince and Princess of Wales and the First Son could only help in her own plan: to do whatever it takes to stop her father from getting elected.

Where Henry was the Prince Of England’s Hearts, Margaret had always been the Heartbreak Princess.  Filling the void left by her father’s death with a string of meaningless flings, Margaret had never been anything but completely transparent about what she was looking for: a distraction.  Not love, never love, but a way to pass the time in between Bea’s breakdowns, Mary’s lectures, and trying to draw Henry out of his shell.  But when Henry falls into a cake, and a torrid romance, with the American First Son, Margaret finds herself swept up in an international whirlwind as she tries desperately to protect her twin brother’s heart — only to realize that in doing so, she may have left her own heart far more open than she’d ever intended.

Oliver Cochrane’s reputation preceded him. But there was more to him than what the tabloids saw. A heart of gold, undying loyalty, the best friend anyone could ask for, and painfully in love with Princess Caroline. He treasured his friendship with Caroline and would never make his feelings her problem, always her shoulder to lean on, one of the only people that she could be Caroline Fox with, instead of Princess Caroline. Not only did Oliver know that Caroline’s relationship with Alex Claremont-Diaz was fake, but he also knew which Fox sibling was actually in love with the First Son. But with all eyes on the Princess and the First Son, Oliver’s own feelings might not be able to stay a secret forever.

Robot Chicken #64: “They Took My Thumbs” | December 14, 2008 - 11:30PM | S04E02

I forget if I discussed the gimmick of this season's episode titles, so I'll do it here, possibly redundantly. They titled each episode so that if you were to sequence them in production order (like how they usually appear on DVD), the resulting list of episode names will spell out a cohesive message. That way, when you buy the DVD, the episodes will be listed in production order, resulting in the pay-off.

This episode felt like it had fewer sketches than most, meaning there was an emphasis on longer sketches with only a handful of channel-change gags or shorties. The first one is about the contractor building the dungeon trap from the opening sequence of Raiders of the Lost Ark. The joke being that it’s silly and doesn’t make a whole lotta sense. Also the contractor sorta got a little too creative vs. what was actually asked of him. This one is decent, basically on par with an average SNL sketch. Actually now I’m recalling sketch where Christopher Walken plays Blofield, and James Bond shows up to his liar unexpectedly ahead of schedule and he has to apologize for the construction going on. This is different enough for me not to be pissed at it. Also the Walken sketch sucks. 

Next is Train Man, about a guy who gets squished by the Subway and must live the rest of his life being squished, for if they move the train it will cause his organs to fall out of his body and he’ll die. He spends his lifetime being a businessman and ignoring his wife and kids. There’s a guitar song that goes along with it. I guess this one alludes to an old urban legend. I don’t know man, I didn’t get much out of this one. 

The next sketch is about Jason Vorhees leading a boring life of quiet domesticity, but he eagerly awaits Friday the 13th so he can go out on have a killing spree. This one is fine, I guess, but the premise is faulty. I am pretty sure Jason doesn’t care about the actual day he kills people. This MF would kill on Talk Like A Pirate Day if he felt like it. And he should! 

You see, I wrote the joke “this MF would kill on ____ if he felt like it” and that’s what I came up with. Sorta low-hanging fruit. I could’ve gone with something edgier, like my birthday. Can you imagine bad stuff happening on my birthday? People wouldn’t be able to say “happy birthday” to me. This is the saddest thing I can think of right now!

Wildman is a sketch where kids are persuaded by one of their mothers to go swimming instead of cooping themselves up playing video games. She’s helped along by Wildman, a kid-friendly “outrageous” rocker whose advice gets preachier and lamer. The kids become disillusioned with Wildman, who doesn’t seem all that wild to them any more. The final gag is Wildman departing with a message against gay marriage. This one’s decent, too. Not mad at it! Wildman is voiced by Sebastian Bach, and he gives an great performance.

The final sketch is Bring A Sidekick to Work day, which is a bunch of lame riffs on DC Comics heroes being lads with each other. Sebastian Bach voices Martian Manhunter in this one, which was a little surprising to learn. The Robot Chicken crew have said in one of the few audio commentary tracks I listened to that when they get a guest star, they typically have them voice three different voices. Usually it’s obvious, like when you have somebody like Keith Crawford voicing a doctor. According to the wiki, this sketch was co-written by Geoff Johns, a guy whose name I’ve seen on DC comics before.

I’d call this one slightly stronger than most Robot Chickens, but I am very tired of sketches where Superheroes are horny. Just knock that shit off. All of them retain their semen, or have been chemically castrated as ordered by a judge. Sorry, I’m a stickler for this sort of thing.

one of my favorite things in The Batman’s depiction of Bruce is how human they make him in the style of how he’s shown. His hair is greasy and disgusting - he has to smudge on eyeliner. Even with the body armor you imagine that every single one of those hits and bullet impacts causes a scar and a bruise on his body - it really is just his own belief in his ability to endure that keeps him going. You see the fear in his eyes when he runs up to the roof and you see the utter pain and anguish he’s in in that final scene.

My favorite one of these details is that Bruce wraps his hands inside of his gloves - and they get all sweaty and tattered and dirty. Like of *course* batman would wrap his hands - it’s basic boxing / fighting etiquette, it protects his wrists, joints, and fingers and keeps his gauntlets tightly wound. And yet these are the details - like the mascara, like the dirty hair - that are never emphasized in prior batman media. Batman is always shown as cool, almost godlike, like a suave put-together James Bond figure. What they don’t show as much is that if Batman has these characteristics, it’s because he’s putting on a mask - a more real mask than the one he wears all the time.

Snyder fans love to say that Marvel is about humans learning to be gods while DC is about gods learning to be humans. I call utter bullshit on that weird christ-like interpretation of Superman and the other justice league members Snyder popularized. I think that’s not accurate at all. Batman is incredibly human - he’s extremely human. He’s horrifically traumatized and operates with such a specificity of action and intention because it’s the only way he knows how to contend with his feelings. He’s deeply broken, and he is striving to heal. And it isn’t being vengeance that allows him to heal. It is providing hope and protection to the innocent - and providing a sense of safety and family to his future bat family.
