Warnings: nightmares, Harry and Lily dying(not really), James being taunted, hurt/comfort, fluffy ending, blaming himself
Word Count: 1,343
Description: After surviving Voldemort, James keeps on having nightmares of Lily and Harry dying. Thankfully, he has his family there to remind him that they are alright.
Taglist: @sylveryfire
He was running up the stairs of their house, without even a wand in his hand, coming to a halt in the doorway upon seeing Lily lying dead on the floor and Harry wailing in his crib. The shadowy figure of Voldemort stood over his baby boy, a green flash of light filling the nursery. He ran, tackling him only to fall through smoke and land on creaky wooden boards. Above him stood one of his best friends, a person he and Lily thought they could trust with their lives. Peter was no longer the fourth member of the marauders.
He was a traitor.
Then there was Snape. James regretted the bullying he had done back in school but he couldn’t quite shake the hate in the Slytherin’s eyes. It wouldn’t have mattered if he apologized or not.
They stood on either side of Voldemort, laughing. Mocking him for being unable to save his family.
“Look at you. The stag, the noble protector, a failure.”
Snape sneered, “Do you think that she would love you if she could see you now? Absolutely powerless to stop her beloved son from being killed?”
“I was always the odd one out. I wasn’t the one everyone loved. Everyone saw you, everyone adored you. I was pushed into your shadow!” Wormtail yelled.
“You thought you could defy me? A worthless, spineless disgrace of a wizard. You could have joined me and lived.”
He wanted to yell at them to bring his family back. He wanted to believe that Lily would love him and know that he did all that he could. He wanted to tell Peter that he was seen by him and Sirius and Remus. He opened his mouth but no sound came out.
“James! Wake up!”
He awoke suddenly in a cold sweat, screams ringing in his ears. His heart pounding unevenly in his chest. He sat up, pushing the blankets off of him. He could feel Lily’s concerned gaze trained on him and he couldn’t bear it. If he had only been a few seconds later, if he had forgotten his wand, she would be dead. Harry would be dead. And it would’ve all been all his fault.
James stumbled into the bathroom, using the counter to hold himself up. The door closed shut behind him, not wanting to reveal the depths of his inner turmoil to the world. When he finally gathered the courage to look at his reflection he was not surprised by the man that was looking out at him with bloodshot eyes and crazy hair. The bags beneath his eyes were permanent at this point.
Lily knocked gently on the door. “James? Are you okay?”
He had been waking up in the middle of the night for weeks. Usually she didn’t wake up in time to see this side of it. By the time she noticed he was gone he was in the nursery with Harry, attempting to reassure himself that his precious baby boy was unharmed.
He hesitated to open the door. He didn’t want her to see him like this, broken.
“James, please.”
Her plea felt like a thousand knives stabbing him in the chest. Splashing his face with water he tried to wipe away any trace of his lack of sleep. It was a pointless effort.
He opened the door, keeping his gaze trained downward, not wanting to look her in the eyes. He didn’t think he could bear it to see the pity, the pain in her eyes.
She reached out for him, her fingers brushing his chest as he fell to his knees on the bathroom floor. Lily kneeled down beside him, tentatively wrapping her arms around his shaking frame. He pulled her into him, his arms gripping her close like he was drowning and she was the only thing keeping him afloat. They sat that way, arms around each other for what felt like hours as he tried to stop the tears from pouring out of him. He tried to focus on Lily’s soothing touch as her hand stroked his back gently, trying to calm him.
He never wanted her to have to see him like this. He had tried to be strong for her, for all three of them. But he was a failure.
“No you’re not.” Lily said quietly, but firmly, pulling away enough to look him in the eye. “You saved us. We wouldn’t be alive if you hadn’t come when you did.”
“But what if I hadn’t?” He asked, tears threatening to fall.
“But you did. That’s all that is important. You did make it on time. You did stop him from killing me and Harry. I don’t want you to ever even think about the possibility. It didn’t happen. We’re right here.” She took hold of his hand and slowly brought it to her chest right above her heart. “I’m here.”
James finally looked into her eyes and was astonished by the love and kindness that radiated in her gaze. There was not an ounce of blame or hatred. Just love and care and understanding. He had always known that he was lucky to have her and their son but it was now that he truly realized just how lucky he was to have her by his side.
Maybe he didn’t always have to be strong.
Brushing a flyaway hair from her face he leaned in and kissed her. It was short and sweet but it managed to convey just how much he loved and cherished her. She brushed away the tears from his face before hugging him again.
“Are you ready to go back to bed?”
“Can we check on Harry first?” Lily smiled, understanding why he needed to see their son. That he needed to reassure himself that he was okay before returning to bed.
The two of them walked over to the nursery. Their footsteps were quiet as they tried to not wake their Harry. There he lay in his crib, clutching a stuffed animal. A stag. James had gotten it for his birthday along with Sirius who had bought a black dog stuffed animal. He remembered how they had tried to make a game of it to see who Harry loved most. He had instead crawled over Lily.
It hurt to think about how much had been missed out on because of that cursed prophecy. He knew how much Harry missed everyone. Hopefully the war would soon be over and they could return to normal. Normal sounded nice.
Walking over to his son’s crib he leaned over to brush some of his hair out of the way to kiss his forehead. Harry made a sound, wrinkling his nose, but he didn’t wake up. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for his son. Lily came up behind him, gently placing her hand on his shoulder blade, rubbing soothingly.
They just stood there for a while, their tiny family all together.
“It’s late, we should go to bed.” Lily whispered.
“Go on, I’ll follow in a few.”
“Okay.” She brushed a quick goodnight kiss against his lips before padding away into their bedroom.
The next morning she awoke to an empty bed. She had a suspicion that it had been empty all night. When she entered the nursery she was proved right. There James lay sleeping right in front of Harry’s crib as if to protect him from any dangers that may come in the night. When Lily approached them he opened his eyes and apologized sheepishly.
“Don’t be sorry. Don’t ever be sorry for being a good father. Because you are. I know it, Harry knows it. I’m just relieved that you actually got some sleep for once.”
“Maybe Harry could sleep in our room for the time being?”
“Of course.”
He stood up and hugged her, his entire frame sagging against her from exhaustion. Sensing his parents, Harry made his presence known.
Laughing they turned towards him and James scooped him up, pretending to fly him towards the kitchen where Lily started to make pancakes.

A/N: I hope this is okay anon! Hope you guys all enjoy, I love you all! xxx

You crept along the silent corridors, hoping to Merlin that you wouldn’t get caught by a ghost, or Mrs Norris for that matter. You would have stolen the Invisibility Cloak if Harry wouldn’t miss its absence, you did always have to remind him that your dad had told you to share it but he wouldn’t listen.
It was well past midnight so it wasn’t likely that anybody was going to be in the Common Room. You grinned as you recalled your earlier activities and your knees almost weakened.
They say he likes a good time (My, oh my) He comes alive at midnight (Every night)
You whispered the password, apologising to The Fat Lady for waking her up and you crept through the portrait hole.
“Where have you been?” a quiet voice came from beside the fireplace making you jump.
“Fuck, Harry!” you swore at your older brother and sighed as he waited for you to answer his question, “I couldn’t sleep so I went for a walk,” the lie rolled of your tongue so easily that it surprised you.
Harry nodded, your answer seemed to satisfy him, “I’m sorry, Y/N,” he sighed as he pushed his glasses up his nose, “Hermione woke up and you weren’t there so she panicked. Then, I panicked,” he chuckled, “I was just about to come and look for you.”
Guilt twisted in your stomach as you smiled weakly at Harry, “you don’t have to worry about me Harry, I promise. I’m gonna go up to bed, night Harry.”
“Night, Y/N,” he smiled as you went up to bed. You went to bed feeling like the worst person in the world.
The morning dawned bright and early, and you were walking a little bit behind your friends as you all walked down to the carriages. You were still feeling guilty about the night before so you were keeping your distance. You felt a cold hand wrap around your wrist and you were pulled into the nearest broom cupboard.
“What the fuck?!” you yelped, rolling your eyes when you came face to face with the cocky Slytherin. The same Slytherin that you had shared the previous night with.
My mama doesn't trust him (My, oh my) He's only here for one thing But (so am I) Yeah
A little bit older A black leather jacket A bad reputation Insatiable habits
“Hello, darling,” he grinned, his hands coming up to grip your waist, “I wanted to see you before we all go home for the summer.”
“Well, you’ve seen me, Mattheo,” you laughed as he rolled his eyes, “people will get suspicious if we’re in here for much longer.”
“You will write to me this summer, won’t you?”
You cupped his cheek, trailing your fingers across the scar that he’d received from duelling, “I’ll try,” you promised.
He nodded at your answer before leaning in to kiss you, you kissed him back gently, your fingers digging through his curls. As he pulled away he bit his lip and looked away from your face, “I like you, y’know.”
You laughed at the flush that spread across his cheeks, “I like you too.”
Your friends weren’t that far ahead so it didn’t take long for you to catch up with them, “are you alright, Y/N?” Ron asked.
“Yeah, all good,” you nodded, slightly out of breath, laughing when he slung an arm over your shoulders.
It was a couple of weeks into summer when you walked into the kitchen and heard Harry whining to your mum, “why do me and Y/N have to come though?”
“Oh no, where are we going?”
Your mum looked at you with a sigh as if talking to Harry exhausted her, you knew the feeling, “we’re going to The Three Broomsticks for dinner tonight.”
“What, why?”
“Because,” Lily rolled her eyes, “Sirius wants us to meet his new partner.”
“What’s the point in that when they’re just gonna break up in a couple of months?” since your mum and dad had been in school Sirius held a torch for Remus, but he’d never said anything. Sirius’ relationships barely lasted 6 months.
“That’s exactly what I said,” your dad laughed as he walked into the kitchen.
Lily sighed but you could tell that she was trying not to laugh, “don’t encourage them, James.”
When you and your family arrived at The Three Broomsticks you noticed Sirius and Remus sitting at the table. There was no one else there and they looked pretty nervous, “do you think…?” you trailed off, looking at Harry.
Harry shook his head, “nah, they definitely would have told us by now,” you nodded but you knew first hand that that wasn’t always the case.
As you walked over to the table, Sirius smiled up at you all in greeting and you sat down, “so, everyone knows Remus, obviously,” he laughed and Remus offered everyone a little wave like you hadn’t known him for all your life.
“Does this mean that you guys are together?” Harry asked what everyone else was thinking and when Sirius nodded, your heart leapt for joy. Two people who you loved more than anything had finally found each other, you couldn’t think of anything better.
Your mum and dad whooped, “yes! Wolfstar is real!”
Remus laughed, looking relieved that everyone was taking this so well, “what the hell is Wolfstar?”
Lily flushed as she looked at James, “it was our ship name for you in school, we’re so glad that you guys are together!”
Sirius grinned, “thanks guys!”
“First round is on me,” James grinned, “come on, Y/N, you can help me.”
“Oh, dad!” you whined as you followed him to the bar.
You didn’t notice the bartender until he came to take your order, “what can I get for you?”
You froze when you realised it was Mattheo behind the bar, he stared at you in turn, his blue eyes widening. Your dad put the order in and when he wasn’t paying attention, you leaned over the bar to speak to Mattheo.
“What the hell are you doing here?”
He shrugged as he poured the pints, “thought I’d keep myself busy,” he hissed, “since the only person I want to speak to won’t reply to my letters.”
You bit your lip, you really did feel bad about that one, it had been a jam packed summer already, you hardly had any time to write secret little love letters, “Theo…” you trailed off as your dad paid for the drinks and Mattheo shook his head at you.
As Remus explained how Sirius finally had the guts to tell him how he felt, you couldn’t help but watch the handsome boy behind the bar as he walked from customer to customer with cat like grace. He grinned at a little old woman and spent a lot of time speaking with her, you wished you could hear what he was saying. You liked him like this, it always seemed as though he had to put up a front in school, you wished he could be himself but you supposed you couldn’t blame him, considering who his father was.
Unfortunately, you weren’t as subtle as you thought because your mum saw you looking at him, “who’s that behind the bar?”
“A boy from school,” you muttered, taking a sip of your Butterbeer.
“He’s Mattheo Riddle. Voldemort’s son,” Harry blurted out.
“Harry!” you hissed.
Lily scowled as she eyed him curiously over her wine glass, “he looks like trouble, I hope you’re staying away from him, Y/N.”
“Of course mum.”
When you spotted Mattheo going outside, you made excuses about how you wanted to get some fresh air as you followed him out. You found him leaning against the wall, lighting a cigarette, “those things will kill you, y’know,” you giggled.
“Among other things,” he blew out some smoke, not looking at you.
“Theo,” you sighed walking towards him, “I’m sorry that I haven’t been writing to you.”
Mattheo sighed as he looked at you, touching your cheek, “I understand, you have to protect yourself.”
“I’m not trying to protect myself, I’m trying to protect you! Do you what my parents would do to you if they found out about us? Not to mention my brother.”
Mattheo smirked at you, his blue eyes surprisingly bright in the dark of the night, “trying to protect me huh?” he grinned when you nodded, “I lied by the way, when I told you that I liked you. I meant to say that I really like you,” he flushed and you marvelled at how something like this could embarrass him, after all you would together in The Room of Requirement.
“I really like you too.”
Mattheo flicked away his cigarette as he tucked a strand of hair behind your ear as he leaned in to kiss you. You sighed against his lips, tasting the mint of his gum and the smoke from his cigarette, it was an intoxicating taste.
He was onto me, one look and I couldn't breathe Yeah, I said, "If you kiss me I might let it happen"
I swear on my life that I've been a good girl Tonight, I don't wanna be her
He pulled away from you slightly, resting his forehead against yours, “a forbidden, secret romance is actually pretty sexy, Y/N,” he smirked.
“You’re such a prick,” you laughed as you pulled him in for another kiss.

A Panicked Dinner Party - Sirius Black
Pairing: Sirius Black x Reader
Summary: You and Sirius go to the Potter's for backup when Harry brings one of his friends around for dinner.
Warnings: fluff, swearing, panicked James, everyone lives au
A/n: I have a love/hate relationship with canon, can you tell? Hope you guys enjoy this and please let me know what you think! xxx

You were spritzing yourself with your favourite perfume before putting in the earrings that Sirius had got you for your birthday. Two strong arms wrapped around your waist and you were pulled into a toned chest. You giggled as he kissed your cheek, his stubble scratching against your skin.
“You look beautiful.”
You smiled at him in the reflection of the mirror as you leaned against him, “thank you,” you turned in his arms, fingers locking at the back of his neck as you pulled him into a proper kiss.
Sirius held your jaw gently as he kissed you back, “Mm,” he pulled you into a hug, resting his chin on your shoulder as he let out a sigh, “do we have to go to this dinner?”
“Yes,” you laughed as he groaned, “we promised James and Lily.”
“If that little toe rag steps out of line,” he trailed off with a growl.
“Baby,” you cupped his cheeks, staring into his gorgeous grey eyes, “I don’t think Harry would be inviting him to dinner if he was going to be horrible.” Sirius nodded, letting out a slow breath, you pressed a lingering kiss against his lips, “let me get my shoes on, then we’ll go.”
Once your shoes were on, you both apparated to Godric’s Hollow. You laced your fingers through your husband’s – so he wouldn’t run – as you walked up the Potter’s path. Before you could knock, the door was pulled open. The relief that spread across Lily’s face was almost laughable as she let you in.
“Thank Merlin you’re here! And you brought the wine, good,” she gasped as you handed her the bottle of wine. Before you could ask what was wrong, she spoke up again, “James is driving me fucking nuts.”
Almost on cue, James came into the hallway, a hand in his hair, “don’t panic,” he mumbled to himself, that’s when he saw you and raced up to you, his hands on your shoulders, shaking you slightly, “don’t fucking panic!”
You tried to hold in your laughter but it was near impossible, “James, you’re the only one who’s panicking right now,” Remus laughed as he popped his head round the corner, waving at you and Sirius.
Remus’ voice seemed to bring James out of the trance he was in. He muttered a ‘sorry’ as he let you and Sirius come through.
“So, why are you panicking anyway?” you asked as you shrugged out of your jacket and Lily poured you a glass of wine.
Sirius scoffed, “I’m sure you would panic too if the world’s biggest prat was coming round to our house for dinner,” Sirius quickly shut up as you and Lily glared at him.
Lily sighed as she took a swallow wine, “James thinks Draco and Harry are dating.”
You and Sirius were too shocked to speak, it seemed amazing that Harry had befriended someone that he’d hated, in his final year of school. So, the notion of them dating seemed unlikely.
“What makes you think they’re dating?” Remus asked in a calm voice.
James bit at his thumbnail, “he’s never once talked about girls, he’s only ever talked about boys. First, it was Oliver Wood, then Cedric Diggory and now, Draco Malfoy,” a look of horror washed over his face as he sank against the counter, “Merlin, my son is gay and thinks he can’t tell me. I’ve failed as a parent.”
Lily kissed his cheek, “sweetheart, he knows he can tell you if he’s gay, all teenagers are secretive.”
“I’m not ready to meet Harry’s boyfriend,” he mumbled.
“James, it’ll be fine, that’s why you’ve got us,” you gestured to Remus and Sirius, “but it’s not going to be fine if the veggies burn,” you went over to turn the heat off. He let out a watery chuckle and stood up to help you.
You had all managed to calm James down – with the help of some Firewhiskey – but when he heard a key turn in the lock he looked panicked again. In walked Harry, along with Ron, Hermione and Draco.
“We’re here guys!” he called out and walked into the living room, “Draco, this is well, everyone,” he laughed, looking slightly overwhelmed by the amount of people.
“Hi everyone,” Malfoy nodded. He shook James’ hand and returned Lily’s warm hug. You and Remus greeted him, while Sirius nodded his head but said nothing.
“Sirius, he’s your cousin,” you hissed.
“Second cousin,” he corrected you.
Ron picked up a parcel that he’d dropped off earlier in the week and handed it to Draco, “mum made this for you,” the tips of his ears turned red as Draco removed the tissue paper.
Molly had knitted him a green jumper that had the letter ‘D’ emblazoned on the front, with a snake curled up at its base. Draco smiled at Ron, “thanks Wea-,” he cut himself off, “Ron,” he corrected himself.
You figured that would take some getting used to. When Malfoy pulled the jumper over his head, Harry grinned and adjusted the collar. Draco let him, it looked very natural, like this had all happened before. James who had been getting increasingly antsy looked as though he’d reached his limit and pulled Ron and Hermione into the kitchen. Draco and Harry didn’t notice as they’d engaged Remus in conversation. You and Lily hovered around the door to listen in.
“Guys, are Harry and Malfoy,” he trailed off, not knowing what to say.
“Shagging?”
“Dating?”
Ron and Hermione spoke at the same time, “either,” James stuttered, looking more panicked at their words.
Ron and Hermione glanced at each other before turning to look back at James, “we don’t know,” Hermione said.
James looked slightly relieved that even Harry’s best friends didn’t know what was going on between Harry and Draco.
As dinner progressed, it was clear that Draco had matured a lot in the past year, you were glad he wasn’t a carbon copy of his father. He’d seemed to win everyone over, even Sirius, well Sirius was finally speaking to him in full sentences and looked him in the eye as he did so.
“Can you pass the salt please?” Draco nudged Harry who passed the salt over, “cheers, Potter,” it wasn’t said in a mocking way, his voice was full of affection as he said it.
James looked between Draco and his son, the panic on his face had slowly dissipated over the course of the dinner. You had to admit that they looked good together. While James was getting dessert together, you all pretended not to notice as Harry followed his father into the kitchen.
You perched on the edge of Sirius’ knee and kissed his cheek, laughing as he pulled you into his chest. James and Harry were in the kitchen for a little while, talking in hushed tones and you wished there was a way to block them out completely so they could have their privacy. You did catch them share a tight hug. Harry soon walked out of the kitchen with a grin on his face. James followed shortly carrying the treacle tart, his eyes were suspiciously wet but full of pride.

Pairing: Lily x James

Description: Lily and James visit her parents and when making breakfast, teasing banter ensues.
Taglist: @sylveryfire
It was past midnight when the two of them arrived at the Evans’. By this point Lily's parents had gone to bed.
“Shh!” Lily warned as they crept through the living room. “Careful, the floor has some creeky spots “
Exhausted from a long day of traveling the two of them crashed in her old room. It had been almost a year since they finished Hogwarts and had recently moved in together to a flat in London. Both of them were now visiting to celebrate her parents’ 25th wedding anniversary. Petunia and Vernon were also expected to come but hadn't shown up yet.
Stumbling out of the bathroom, teeth brushed and in pajamas, Lily walked over to the bed where James was already lying in bed. Together they barely fit on the mattress.
“Sorry, I didn't realize it was this small when it was just me.” Lily apologized, holding on for dear life so she didn't slide off.
“It's not a big deal. If anything it gives us more of an excuse to cuddle. Come here.”
Both turning on their sides, facing in the same direction they were finally in a comfortable position. James shuffled backwards so he was as close to the wall as possible to ensure Lily didn't fall off, his arms holding her close.
“Is this better?” He asked softly, his lips lightly grazing her ear.
“Much.” She responded, pushing further back into his far warmer frame. One of the parts about cuddling with James was that he was like a furnace.
He groaned lightly in her ear. “Stop teasing me Lils, we're both far too tired for that.”
She snickered, “Not my fault you can't control yourself around me.”
“Oh, hush.”
There was a pause before they both finally started to fall asleep.
“Good night, Jamie.”
“Good night, Lils”
The next morning they awoke to the sunlight streaming through the window, no curtains in sight.
“Ugh, turn it off.” Lily mumbled.
James laughed before saying, “I smell food.”
Sure enough, once they both got dressed and came downstairs they were greeted by the sight of Petunia eating breakfast.
“Is there any left for us?”James asked jokingly.
Petunia looked over at them, a sour expression on her face. “You can make your own.”
By this point he was used to the cold shoulder, aware of her views on wizards but it still took him by surprise. Shrugging it off he and Lily started searching the kitchen for some food.
“Honey bun?” Lily asked, her head concealed by the cupboard.
Not even thinking about it James responded, “Yeah?” before turning to face her.
Holding a honey bun, Lily's face flushed bright red.”I meant would you like one?”
“Oh yeah sure.”
Turning away he started to make coffee for both of them.
“Sugar?”
Walking over to him she said, “Yes?”
“I was asking if you wanted any in your coffee.”
“Sure.”
Now the both of them just stood there, flustered. Both of them blushing and avoiding eye contact.
From the dining room Petunia exclaimed, disgusted, “Ugh! I hate you two.” Before standing up and walking out of the room. The two of them proceeded to collapse into a fit of giggles.
“That was so your fault!” Lily said.
“My fault? How was I supposed to know there actually were honey buns?!”
“Oh yeah?” Lily said, an eyebrow raised and her hands on her hips. “Well how was I supposed to know you meant sugar as in coffee? You call me that all the time!”
Both of them still laughing, they leaned in for a kiss.
“Mmm, you taste like honey.” James said, licking his lip.
They continued snogging, completely unaware of their surroundings until they were interrupted by some pointed coughing.
“Morning Lily, James.”
“Morning Dad, morning Mum.”
“Glad to see that the two of you got in okay, how was the drive?”
“Not too bad, we only got lost once.”
James chuckled, “Only cause you suck at giving directions.”
Gasping, Lily shot back playfully, “Well maybe if you had been listening instead of blasting music you would have heard me!”
“Says the girl who was singing along even louder than I was.”
Lily's parents shook their heads amused by their bickering.
“They are just like us when we were kids.”
“I know, it's like looking into a mirror.”
All of them say at the table to eat breakfast before starting to prepare for the small celebratory dinner they were having at the house. A few of Lily's parents' friends were coming over later. Throughout the dinner Lily observed how in love her parents still were, thinking to herself that she wanted that for herself and James. To grow old and be able to celebrate how happy they were with their kids and friends beside them.
Looking over at James, the two of them shared a look. Not wanting to take away from her parents they were planning on telling them the news the next day, they were engaged! James had asked her only a few days ago but she had wanted to wait to tell them in person.
Taking his hand in hers, she squeezed it gently, mouthing, ‘I love you’.
‘I love you too.’

jily.
jily but it’s james constantly asking lily out/hitting on her/being annoying up until their fifth year
jily but it’s lily thinking james is making fun of her and hating him for being so irritating up until their fifth year
jily but it’s james and lily agreeing to be friends by the end of fifth year, and james accepting that all he’ll be is lily’s friend and that’s more than enough for him
jily but it’s lily slowly falling in love with james throughout sixth year but refusing to admit it because she’s stubborn and never wanted to be with someone like him
jily but it’s james and lily becoming really good friends, finding out things about each other that no one else knows, learning to respect and understand each other, and just overall having so much sexual tension it’s embarrassing
jily but it’s lily initiating their first kiss by seventh year, finally accepting how she feels, but also terrified james doesn’t feel the same way
jily but when they do kiss, james is so excited and taken aback, and all lily wants to do is kiss him, but eventually james pulls away and insists that he’s going to do this right, that he’s going to take lily out on a date
jily but when they do go on their first date, it’s so lovely and wonderful and perfect and they both agree to take things slow, but by the end of the night have sex

Lily should have survived.
“Harry was saved by his mother’s love-“ Let me stop you right there.
I present to you: James Fleamont Potter.
You’re telling me that James didn’t love Lily and Harry enough to evoke the ancient love magic that Lily saved Harry with?
Mr. “Had an ego the size of a lake but a heart to match it?”
He loved both of them so much that he literally died trying to give them a chance to escape and that wasn’t enough?
I don’t buy it.
The only semi-logical explanation I can come up with is that he didn’t have his wand and maybe you can’t do something like that wand-less but did Lily have her wand?
Even then we’re talking about a guy who literally became an illegal animagus at the ripe age of 15.
He also loves and cares for people so deeply and it was LOVE MAGIC.
Look me in the eyes and tell me James Potter couldn’t have just saved BOTH of them without his wand.
Exactly, you can’t.
Honestly I could go on about all of the reasons James and Lily dying didn’t even make sense.
This is just another thing that makes me question why they died the way they did.
Them dying on an order mission would’ve been more realistic. There were just too many plot holes in them dying in Godric’s Hollow.
In conclusion, the ending of the first war didn’t make sense. Thank you for coming to my ted talk.
Edit:
Guys this post is not that serious I just mean that everything about what happened that night and the explanation for all of it felt like a stretch and kinda vague to me 😭
Even with the stuff about James not having a choice. Like yeah Voldemort didn’t verbally give him the option to back off but James still made the choice to try and hold him off.
Also James was a Pureblood and Voldemort made it known that he would spare them if they didn’t fight him because his whole thing was blood purity.
So like the “Lily was given a choice” still feels so vague to me.
Also Voldemort making the promise to Snape feels weird. Snape asked him not to kill Lily but Voldemort said that he wouldn’t as long as she didn’t get in his way. And Lily did get in his way of killing Harry so he didn’t break that promise by killing her.
Yeah he probably could’ve just knocked her out or something but he still didn’t break any promises.
And the whole reason Snape joined Dumbledore before the end of the first war is because he didn’t think Lily would just let Voldemort kill her son. He didn’t make an unbreakable vow or anything so Snape knew that Voldemort would probably kill Lily.

Chapter One
Harry Potter was worried about his twin, she’d been so secretive recently, ever since the first week of summer. Harry knew they weren’t kids anymore but Y/N was his best friend and they used to tell each other everything. James and Sirius knew that something was up when Harry mooched into the kitchen.
“What’s wrong?” his godfather laughed as he drank his tea.
“Where’s, Y/N?” he directed the question at his dad, ignoring Sirius. James shrugged as he leaned back in the kitchen chair.
“She’s off playing Quidditch in the woods, you know how she gets when she wants to be alone.”
Harry nodded, he did know but he was still a bit miffed that she hadn’t asked him for a match, “she’s supposed to come with me to Ron’s for tea,” he muttered.
At that moment, Lily walked into the kitchen and kissed her son on the cheek, “well, she’ll be back by that time.”
Harry nodded, forcing a smile for his mum’s benefit, but he just knew that something was going on with her. And, he was worried about her.
You cursed beneath your breath as you all but ran home, you had nearly lost track of time, you had nearly forgotten that you were having tea at the Weasley’s tonight. As you walked through the front door Harry was coming down the stairs.
“Hey, Y/N,” he smiled and you felt your guilt begin to brew in your stomach, “have fun playing Quidditch?” he smiled but it didn’t reach his eyes.
You could tell he was hurt but he’d never admit it, he’d never understand either and you hated doing this to him, “well, I would have asked you to join me but I know how busy you must be pining over Ginny Weasley.”
Harry scoffed as he pushed his glasses up his nose, “you’re my sister, and my best friend, I’m never too busy for you.”
You smiled, “thanks, Harry. I’m just gonna get ready and then we can go to Ron’s,” you traipsed upstairs without waiting for a reply. On the way to your room, you passed your dad, “why did you tell Harry that I was playing Quidditch?” you sighed.
James frowned, “what in Merlin’s name was I supposed to say, Y/N?” he continued when you shrugged, “you are your brother’s best friend and I know he’s yours but you need to tell him before he finds out for himself. Now, I don’t approve but you’re not a little kid anymore.”
“See you later, dad,” you sighed as you walked into your room to get ready.
As you and Harry were leaving the cottage and were walking up the path, Harry groaned out in dismay.
“What’s the matter?” you laughed but Harry didn’t reply or look at you, he kept staring ahead with a scowl on his face.
You followed your brother’s gaze and saw that Malfoy was passing by with his friend Mattheo Riddle, as soon as Malfoy saw Harry, his face lit up with malice, “alright, Scarhead?”
You glared over at Malfoy before glancing at Riddle who was smirking at you, you scowled at him, keeping your eyes on him long enough to see him raise his eyebrow, a smug look forming on his face. “C’mon, Harry just ignore them,” you glared at the Slytherin boys as you pulled Harry away, Riddles smug face in the back of your mind.
Dinner at the Weasley’s was always something to look forward to, Mrs Weasley’s cooking was amazing and you always had a laugh with the big family. However, this year it was different, it was almost awkward, you had to watch your brother try – and fail – to flirt with Ginny. Ron and Hermione were also starting to fall for each other, though they were the only ones who couldn’t see it. You had managed to keep your embarrassment in check until it was time to sit down for dinner.
“So, Y’N, dear,” Molly started, “are you in love yet?”
Ron snorted into his food as your eyes widened and you felt a flush creep up your neck, you shook your head as you looked up at Molly, “no, I’m not.”
“I think Y/N is trying to get onto the national Quidditch team with how much she’s been playing it this summer,” you forced a smile at your brother but said nothing more, and your love life wasn’t brought up again.
After dinner, you decided to leave early and without Harry, usually you and Harry would stay for as long as you could but the guilt in your stomach hadn’t settled yet. It made it virtually impossible for you to be around your friends when you felt like that. It was when you were getting ready for bed that the knock on your patio door came and startled you.
You sighed when you saw the handsome Slytherin boy standing out on your balcony, you padded over and opened the patio door, quickly ushering him inside.
“Mattheo,” you hissed, “what are you doing here?”
He smiled and cupped your cheek with a warm hand, “I wanted to see you before I head back home, I feel like I haven’t seen you as much recently.”
You scoffed and looked away from him, crossing your arms over your chest, “you literally saw me today.”
“For like an hour,” Mattheo sighed and kissed you softly. Your fingers delved into his thick curls as you briefly kissed him back before you pushed him away, “what’s the matter?” he asked, resting his forehead against yours.
“Nothing,” you shook your head, you couldn’t see how this relationship – if that was even what it was – would work at Hogwarts, it was too much sneaking around and you had to keep a lot more secrets at school than you did at home. Also, you didn’t have the heart to tell him your relationship had an expiry date. It really seemed like you were lying to everyone.
“Y/N,” Mattheo started, biting his lip, in that moment he looked so vulnerable as he stared at you with wide eyes, and you almost forgot who he was. Almost. “Can I stay here tonight? I don’t want to go back to Draco’s, you know he’ll be there.”
“Mattheo,” you sighed but he interrupted you before you could say anything further.
“Please, Y/N? I promise I’ll be gone before your parents wake up.”
You cupped his cheeks and fought back tears, “you have to go, everyone is in danger if you’re here.”
Mattheo looked like he’d been gut punched and he pulled away from you so quickly it was like you’d burned him, “right,” he hissed with a nod, “the scum can’t put the perfect Potter’s in danger.”
“I never said that!”
Mattheo sniffed as he wrenched open your patio door, “you didn’t have to. Goodnight, Y/N,” he climbed down your balcony and disappeared into the night.
“Goodbye, Mattheo,” you sighed as you watched him go.
The next morning was an early start and you almost immediately regretted promising that you would meet Ron and Hermione for an early lunch. You could barely keep your eyes open as you shuffled into the kitchen. You had been awake for most of the night half wishing that you had let Mattheo stay. You yawned as you spread butter onto your toast.
“You’re quiet this morning, Y/N,” James glanced at you from the other end of the table.
Harry snickered as he walked into the kitchen, “you say that like it’s a bad thing, dad.”
You scowled at your twin, “fuck you, Potter.”
“Language, Y/N!” Lily gasped but you couldn’t miss the laughter in her voice. Your mum narrowed her green eyes at you, “did you have a friend over last night? I could have sworn I heard you talking to someone.”
You shook your head, refusing to look at your dad, though you could feel him looking at you from where he sat, “I didn’t have anyone over last night, mum,” you mumbled. Lily nodded but continued to regard you suspiciously.
In no time at all, you were meeting Ron and Hermione outside of the ice cream parlour in the blazing sun.
“Hello again,” Hermione laughed as she pulled you into a hug, you grinned as you hugged her back and over her shoulder you waved at Ron.
“Sorry about my mum last night, that must have been embarrassing,” Ron almost winced as you laughed and shook your head.
“Don’t worry about it!” you sat at the table and smiled over at Hermione, “thanks for getting my fave,” you blew her a kiss as you a sip from your iced Butterbeer.
“Ugh, incoming,” Hermione rolled her eyes as she took a sip of her own drink, you could tell by the venom in her voice that it was Malfoy and his band of Slytherins. You didn’t even turn to look until Ron spoke up.
“Bloody hell, look at Riddle’s face.”
You glanced over your shoulder and was filled with horror by what you saw, Mattheo had been badly beaten, he had a black eye and a huge gash in his lip, almost like it had been split open. He looked at you with wounded eyes as he walked past but he said nothing. Neither did Malfoy.

@wolfstarmicrofic May 7 - prompt 7: Secret Relationship [word count 390]
They had discussed it, and decided they didn’t want to tell anyone for a while. Remus because he still couldn’t believe he was dating Sirius Black, and Sirius because he enjoyed having Remus all for himself. So they agreed on keeping their relationship secret while they figured this whole dating thing out.
The very first day of their secret relationship, James had to crawl out of the dorm they had thought was empty enough for an impromptu makeout session.
The first week of their secret relationship, Peter quietly levitated a chair to strategically block from view the fact that Sirius’s hand was resting on Remus’s thigh in History of Magic.
The second week of their secret relationship, Lily redirected a bunch of first years away from the library shelves they were passionately kissing behind.
The third week of their secret relationship, Marlene walked singing out loud on the Quidditch pitch, giving them enough time to get dressed and sneak out of the showers.
The fourth week of their secret relationship, Mary broke a pot in Herbology to startle them back from looking deep into each other’s eyes instead of pruning the Bubotuber.
The fifth week of their secret relationship, Peter got their Potions essays in order since both their owners were off doing who knew what (they all knew what).
The sixth week of their secret relationship, James had to swim further away than usual to avoid coming out of the lake right by where they were putting flowers in each other’s hair.
The seventh week in their secret relationship, Professor McGonagall flicked her wand and conjured a velvet curtain to keep the alcove they were making out in from prying eyes.
The eight week of their secret relationship they walked up to their friends in the Common Room hand in hand and finally told them they were dating. They got loud cheers, good wishes, hugs, kisses, enthusiasm and were urged to enjoy the empty dorm, that James and Peter were more than happy sleeping by the fireplace for one night.
The very first day of their official relationship, both Sirius and Remus wondered why all of their friends were so hangover at breakfast. From the main table, Professor McGonagall gifted them with one of her rare smiles as Professor Dumbledore counted the Galleons he was putting in her hand.
