ok so. jack was denied physical touch for all of his life, and the newsies aren't really big on it. jack sought out physical touch through playful slaps and shadow boxing, and flopping his arm over someone's shoulder as inconspicuously as possible.

Davey sees straight through it ... and he lets jack do his thing. lets jack shadow box him and rub his shoulders and offer to give him back massages and beat him up out of love ... because he knows jack needs that kind of validation ... (meanwhile jacks thinking he's the most inconspicuous guy ever)

so when jack starts gravitating towards davey, davey takes that as a success . jack feels safe around him ... and davey knows, especially regarding jacks past, that this is a feat. to be this close with jack, who only ever let his walls all the way down around crutchie ...

and when jack confesses thag he has feelings for davey, Davey can't help but celebrate on the inside. sure, he's had feelings for jack for ages too, but davey takes the greatest joy in the fact that he is one of jacks few safe people ....

I’m very much imagining their dynamic as Racetrack being a massive flirt that does absolutely everything in his power to get a smile or laugh out of the more stoic Albert, but when Albert finally turns the tables on him and flirts back, Race turns so red so fast that he can’t even get a response out.

when Jack tells Crutchie, he either goes “oh, hell yes! RACER!! YOU OWE ME TWENTY!!” or “GODDAMNIT!! YOU COULDN’T’VE JUST PLUCKED UP THE CORAGE TO DO IT YOURSELF!? DAMNIT, JACK! I’M DOWN TWENTY DOLLARS!”

either way, he’s super happy for them.

tried to hide it from the newsies at first cause they were scared they wouldn’t be supportive.

then, one day Race found them kissing and was kinda just like 😐 before yelling for the other newsies. (I might write this as a oneshot)

obviously all of them are supportive.

even the Delancey’s were when they found out.

they’d tease the fuck out of them but not in a homophobic way, just a more light hearted way.

Jack always has his arm around Davey’s shoulders/waist when they’re walking.

pulled Davey down to kiss him by the tie one time and Davey couldn’t stop blushing.

sometimes Jack stands on boxes/stairs or sits on a bunk when him and Davey kiss cause he likes to feel taller.

if they’re spooning, they argue over who’s the small spoon.

Jack wins most of the time.

Jack likes to kiss Davey’s nose, cheek, or forehead in public, but kisses on the lips are only in private.

Davey reads out loud to Jack while Jack draws.

Jack’s love language is definitely physical affection or words of affirmation and Davey’s is quality time followed closely by physical affection.

Jack enjoys Davey's sweatshirts, and it's easy to take them, so he does.

Davey doesn't really mean it when he objects.

This time it was different, though.

"I believe that's mine." Davey said, entering their dorm one evening after a date.

"Oh, here." Jack peeled off the sweatshirt and handed it to Davey. Davey blinked in surprise. Jack never complied like that.

"I didn't mean you had to take it off, you know?"

"Uh-huh."

Davey paused. What was up with him?

"Do you want to put it back on?"

"Nah, it's alright. Better save it for Kyle."

"Who?"

"Your date? That you just got back from, by the way."

Davey looked confused, and it tore Jack apart. He buried his face in the couch, groaning in agony.

"I don't, not really." Davey said. "I mean, why would he need this? you're the only person I know that wears like six layers of sweatshirts."

Jack sighed.

He could be fine with this.

"Sorry, I just- come tell me about the date?"

Davey's eyes did not light up as he smiled and said, "Okay." Which gave Jack hope but also worried him immensely.

"So, how'd it go?"

"It was alright."

"Any fascinating details to share?"

"No, no. Nothing happened."

"Asshole didn't even send you off with a goodnight kiss?" Jack was glowing inside.

"No, uh. He said, he said he had a good time, but he couldn't see himself with me, and he wants to be friends."

Davey made eye contact with Jack, uncertain. "What do you mean?"

"I mean he seems like a little bitch and I think you deserve better."

It all came flooding back to Jack. His father was on the phone. From prison. He had wanted to speak to Jack. Jack talked about Davey a lot, and his father finally stopped him, saying "You aren't dating him, are you?" In a deeply disapproving tone. Jack had replied as quickly as possible.

"You said, "Davey? Oh, no, I could never date Davey, he ain't my type." Davey finished off with a bad impression of Jack.

"It was my dad! I couldn't tell him the truth, he would have... he woulda broke out just to beat my ass. Davey, I'm so gone for you I can't even think."

"You're lying."

"Shut the fuck up. You don't know anything. You don't know the way it's been eating at me all night that you wasn't on a date with me! It should be me!"

"I wouldn't have even gone on the date in the first place if I hadn't heard you saying that!"

"Blame me!"

"Well, do you blame me? For feeling like I didn't even have a chance?"

Jack didn't want to yell anymore.

"Do I still have a chance with you?" He asked softly as Davey was retreating into his bedroom. Davey just shut his bedroom door.

Jack, on the verge of tears, received a message from Davey a moment later:

animals love him and he loves animals, he is physically incapable of walking past a dog(or cat, or horse, or bug, or spider) on the street without petting it

branching off of this, he has brought SO MANY LITTLE CRITTERS BACK TO THE LODGING HOUSE (one time he brought a spider and that was the exact day Jack decided he was sleeping outside full time because the spider escaped and they never found it)

in the summertime, he likes sitting outside in the rain(if it’s light enough, that is) because he finds it really refreshing (it scares the heck out of everyone who cares about him because they’re worried he’ll get sick (this drives him a little bit crazy))

he loves hugs, like, adores them. giving, receiving, just seeing people happy when they get hugs, the warm and fuzzy feeling of them

Davey taught him about flower language(i hc that Davey likes flower language) and now he loves leaving little flowers with hidden meanings around for his friends

he just generally likes getting little gifts for his friends (even if some of them are just small fragments of metal he found on the ground or neat rocks)

he’s kinda bad at math so Elmer has to help him with it sometimes

still has some ptsd from The Refuge and this tends to mostly show up in nightmares, getting really scared/upset when people yell(especially if it’s at him and ESPECIALLY ESPECIALLY if it’s an older man bc that reminds him of Snyder), having panic attacks when passing by the building that used to be The Refuge, and windows with bars over them(that last one is more specifically for 92’sies bc of how The Refuge was)

on a lighter note, he loves his friends/found family/just about everyone more than most people even thought was possible

and if he ever got the chance to ride one, he’d absolutely adore ferris wheels

i know the crutchtrack shippers are few and far between BUT I AM ONE OF THEM SO HERES THE CRUTCHIE SIDE OF THAT

oscar tossed a wet rag at morris, who flipped him off in return

oscar stole morris’ hat and morris got it back and just kept holding it rather than trying to put it back on

morris climbed up over the edge of the railing like a ballerina. graceful, leg extended, like he was doing barre work

after soaking jack, morris shoved oscar roughly in the chest as they were walking away

also, i don’t know if i’ve ever mentioned this detail before, but it’s consistent - morris steps on jack’s hand during his “so behave” line

morgan and george are fantastic and so different from alex and george’s delancey dynamic. at a few points it feels like their oscar and morris really don’t like each other, and it’s super interesting

bobbie katherine is bold and having so much fun during kony, giving orders to the boys and encouraging them and opening her arms expectantly every time she wants to be lifted down from the tables

damon davey is actively terrified and cowering away from the dancing. but he smiles shyly when he meets the eyes of any of the boys, and tipped his hat at one of them

katherine is actively teasing davey and trying to coax him to join in, while he’s laughing and anxiously refusing

jojo and buttons bicker over who gets the water in jacobi’s. jojo’s saying it’s his, but buttons ignores him and takes it and drinks most of it before finally relenting and handing it over. jojo gulps down the rest and glares.

mike knocked over someone’s (race’s? tommy boy’s?) water in jacobi’s and was giggling about it as the cup rolled under the table. he then sat pretending to be oblivious while making the person duck down to get it themself.

crutchie is super confused when davey and les don’t follow the rest of the boys after sales and instead go in a different direction. he tries to go after them, then scoffs as he remembers and walks back offstage - matthew looked at me as he spat, “folks” and rolled his eyes.

while specs and race are moving chairs offstage, they’re arguing about it - specs has to basically order race to come help, and race is belligerent as he drags the chairs past the front row. he pointed directly at me and snapped “this should be your job!”

Taking over the bronx at the age of 13(almost) smalls was the youngest to become a burrow leader aside from spot (who was 11 when he took the ‚crown‘)

Theorys about yorks name origin vary a lot. Tho most think that he got the name because he’s been to all of new york. He has live in all the burrows and gotten thrown out of almost all the lodges . In reality it was simply because he came from yorktown.

Even some newsies dont know that there are seperate lodges for boys and girls because that isn’t used. Neither the keepers nor the newsies care. There are so few newsies girls anyway so it wouldn’t pay to open an extra one for them. Plus the boys lodge is overfilled anyway and they can’t afford to not use the space they have. Newsies boys are usually very respectful and responsible though. Some say its because they’ve been through stuff themselves some think their simply normal human beings. In reality its a mix (sadly). Since most never had family etc and was rejected by society, that automatically meant that society couldn’t shape them. Society never got to make them think that it was okay in the first place.

Spot and Davey both either bite their nails and they are totally rotten or have the most beautiful and cared for hands/nails

Spot had full on tears in his eyes maybe even down his cheek when Jack scabbed. He didn’t know if he could trust Jack again after what happened what ended their relationship. When he thought he could finally trust him again he pulls this.

Spot spreads rumors abt himself sometimes. Racetrack (and others) help. But race not by saying stuff but by doing stuff.

When crutchy has to sign stuff with a real name, he doesn’t want to use his real name, charlie, he uses shawn because he reminds me of shawn the sheep so yeah
