Rip of the week: 26/08/2024
Welcome to 2021! They finally invented summers that hurt motherfuckers😂 only at sonicforces.com
Season 5 Featured on: Legends of the Western Sunset ~ The SiIvaGunner All-Star Summer Festival 2021 Collection
Ripped by Memmy (@memmy417)
youtube
If you've been keeping up with this blog, you may have noticed that my coverage tends to somewhat slant toward the more emotional, the "deep" and hard-hitting stuff on SiIvaGunner, be it with rips like i love(d) you and Ascension to Apotheosis or with the entirety of my #character archives posts. I can't hide that a lot of my appreciation for the SiIvaGunner channel is emotional, likely in large part because I'm not a ripper myself and thus can't always properly appreciate rips for their craft alone. But I do try to diversify the blog's portfolio from time to time since, well, it would frankly be inaccurate to present the channel as being nothing but feature-length epics and carefully-improvised lore. Many parts of SiIvaGunner's evolution are driven by ambition, yes - yet just a many, if not more, are driven by boredom, messing around, and just flat-out being silly with it. And perhaps no ripper embodies this better than the one responsible for Welcome to 2021! They finally invented summers that hurt motherfuckers😂 only at sonicforces.com and precisely two hundred and twentythree (223) other siiva rips - Memmy.
Rippers like Memmy, and rips just like the above, represent a hugely important part to SiIvaGunner's core, the one that predates even the channel itself: the spirit of SoundClown. SiIvaGunner as a channel was born through the ongoing antics and fun of a couple of teens on SoundCloud, messing around with mashups and video game music purely to make one another laugh. Despite joining the team four years after the channel's inception, it feels as if Memmy has embraced this original spirit more than anyone else, as should be immediately evident by the name of Welcome to 2021! They finally invented summers that hurt motherfuckers😂 only at sonicforces.com alone. The titles of her rips are always like this, just a complete stream-of-consciousness bit written without a second though, and no matter how many years pass it stays as such an evergreen reminder of the silliness that persists within SiIvaGunner - a silliness that of course bleeds into the rips themselves! And so, while I've technically covered a chunk of her rips prior back on the Raftmageddon event on April Fools, with classics like lmao and request by raftride7000 pikachu x pachirisu amv- what makes rafts rideable, I think it's high time to actually dig into a proper rip of hers.
When I say "silly" or other such terms in today's context, I'm sure a lot of you immediately start to think along the lines of "brainrot" content or ironic shitposting, along the lines of we are number one but with outdated memes over it, Mad Mew Mew Becoming Uncanny, Corridors of Vine or plenty of the rips being made currently in Season 8. But I believe that's misrepresenting the topic a bit - even things made to be conceptually stupid through their source, can be wielded with finesse and ambition for remixing projects just like high quality rips often are. Beyond the obvious example of the SiIvaGunner channel in its entirety, a more specific example would be Season 5's "Disappearance of Super Mario" event: an event born from a running joke on Twitter, spun into one of the most solid and gripping channel narratives we've seen on the channel through the ambition put into it, like with what I wrote about on Your Worst Nightmario. No, I suppose "silly" isn't quite the right word to describe rips like Welcome to 2021! They finally invented summers that hurt motherfuckers😂 only at sonicforces.com - but rather, that they have a sense of...playfulness? Its vibes extend all the way to the imagery you get of the ripper themselves sitting with a music file open and just messing around to see what would happen - I couldn't tell you what scenario would lead Memmy to, in 2021, combine music from 2017's Sonic Forces with Maroon 5's hit 2014 single This Summer's Gonna Hurt like a Motherfucker, other than one wherein the ripper in question was just testing things out for the pure fun of creation in of itself.
And that's really what I've been getting at with this post in general, how important that spirit is to the channel, and for the well-being of the internet in general: That spirit of completely unbothered, expectation-less creativity. One of my all-time favorite ripper replies I've gotten on this blog came from the ripper venula on Hella Pummel, wherein they described adding an additional source to the rip out of no reason other than simply because they felt it would be funny and sound good. Welcome to 2021! They finally invented summers that hurt motherfuckers😂 only at sonicforces.com champions that spirit loudly and proudly - the mashup between Sonic Forces music and the aforementioned hit Maroon 5 single is a complete left-field idea, but Memmy goes all-in to make sure it actually results in a genuinely fun listening experience. It's partially due to the choice of Ghost Town in particular as the backing track, giving the rip a funky, bouncy backing that perfectly complements the sound of post-Overexposed Maroon 5, but This Summer is additionally pitch-shifted (and generally seems to be in a slightly lower key?) to match Ghost Town's slightly moodier tone. The connection with Hella Pummel only grows stronger once Ghost Town reaches its chorus, adding a piece of German pop music that I swear I've heard used in shitposts before yet couldn't even begin telling you a morsel of information about. But, sure enough - it sounds good, and doesn't even override This Summer's presence on the rip, instead just adding one more layer of sound to the backing track's highest point.
As described in the beginning, rips like Welcome to 2021! They finally invented summers that hurt motherfuckers😂 only at sonicforces.com aren't necessarily the most complicated, most carefully woven masterpieces of our time - but I really don't want that to be construed as demeaning, or in any way negatively slanted. Because it's the rips just like Memmy's that keep the channel afloat, the rips made just out of sheer curiosity and fun at the computer, rips made to entertain the ripper just as much - if not more - than to entertain an audience. The magic at the beating heart of SiIvaGunner is the knowledge that rips come from everywhere, from all kinds of people, with all kinds of intentions - and that any rip has the capability of making someone smile. In truth, I think we all could use a little bit more playfulness in our lives, and Memmy appears all too happy to keep serving us with it for the foreseeable future.

Dndads characters as Pokémon!
Idk why but i’m trying to see what pokemon each dndad character would be (or at least untill i get bored of the idea) so im gonna do a poll to see what the ppl think. The dads go first !!
Starting with our crunchy munchy hippie dad Henry oak!
Pictures of the pokemon and expanding on the explanations below the cut ✂️
Psyduck
Look at this dumb anxious creature, doesn’t it just give off the pure essence of Henry Oak! Not only that, but when psyduck is under pressure or over whelmed it starts panicking and freaking out, just like Henry when he has one of his Henry Moments ™️ and starts yelling at one of the other dads
Also, psyduck has random moments where his psychic powers come to him and he’s really powerful. And this reminds me exactly of Henry in the beginning of the first season when he felt the surge of energy through his body and his powers would suddenly come to him
Bidoof
Idk, just something about this Pokémon reminds me of him… maybe its the crunchy munchy-ness of it. And also, looks like (or is close enough to) his wombat form!
Bulbasaur
The looks of this pokemon also kinda reminds me of Henry, especially the plant theme, but its mostly the vines that the Pokémon uses, just like how Henry uses vines for entangle
Meganium
just vibes honestly
Shaymin
Also just vibes and the overall plant theme, but i think it would be funny
Gogoat
I don’t really get henry vibes from this one just because it has a more serious expression, but henry being a goat Pokémon just makes sense to me and also it has a bit of a “crunchy munchy” look
Vileplum
Stinky and plant themed, just like our boy henry!
Mimikyu
Its kinda like how on the outside we see a pikachu costume but on the inside is a dark creature, and its almost the how on the outside we see henry, but inside him is an eldritch being (the doodler) but i know its not like the doodler is wearing Henry as a costume or to hide itself (unless you interpret it that way?), but it just makes me think about Henry and how he inherited the doodler within him

I decided to make dndads pokemon team headcanons
Each character will be limited to 3 max (exceptions pending)
Daryll:
Greedent - Looks just like him, Matt said so himself. Calls it Grant. It gets confusing.
Meowth (Galar) - Scruffy just like Daryll. Evolves into Perrserker, fitting Daryll's barbarian class. Named it Aragorn on a whim and wouldn't change it even when people told him it doesn't fit.
Kangaskhan - Loving, protective parent. Inherited from Frank as the baby of his own Kangaskhan now grown up. Named it after his grandmother, Sally.
Henry:
Cradily - No brainer. Best of both interests (nature and geology). Named it Lily. Simple, sweet.
Carnivine - Thorn Whip/Entangle/Grasping Vine! Also representative of his more aggressive nature that he pushes down until he snaps. Named it simply Flower cause he wanted to associate it with nice and gentle imagery.
Trevenant - Had it since he was a boy and both lost their memories when they were transported to earth. Gifted to him by Beary to help attune him to the Doodler's eldritch nature within him by interacting with the ghost type. Made of the husk of an oak tree. Perhaps possessed by the lost soul of an Oakvale child. Can learn Will-O-Wisp, which is a good enough justification for Wall of Fire for me. He never named it.
Glenn:
Beeheeyem - Had it since it was an Elgyem, but doesn't remember catching it. He remembers getting high in the desert one night, then waking up with a new friend. He doesn't even know the species name, he just calls it Star Wars.
Rotom - Let's it chill in his amps or guitars when at home and in his vape pen when on the go. When it possesses his electric guitars it can play loud even without an amp. Calls it Lil' Dude/Lil' Man/Lil' Guy/Lil' Buddy. It responds to all.
Pikachu - of all the characters, he feels the most right to have a Pikachu. What's it's name? Nick Jr.
Glenn hasn't technically captured any of his pokemon.
Ron:
Herdier - His first pokemon that he had to give up long ago. Named Rogue.
Greavard - It found him one day.
Paeden:
Tyrogue - It's the same size as him and he found it after joining the dads. He fought it himself. Calls it his Rival.
Walter the Immoral:
Honedge - The sword that gave him his name. He never wanted a pokemon, but when the sword he crafted broke and killed that hero, it became possessed and returned to him. Has no name, and he barely refers to it. Good friends with Paeden.
Scam Likely/Well Actually/Scam Actually:
He has no set team. Every time he crosses paths with the daddies he has a different pokemon accompanying him, even if they were only separated for an hour.
Some examples of pokemon he's been seen with -
Purrloin
Sneasel (both versions)
Mew
Igglybuff
Each of the daddies' pokemon (at different occasions)
Spinarak
Murkrow
Meowth (Kanto)
Seviper
Zorua (most commonly seen)
Arin O'Neal:
Trevenant - (Lots)
Torterra - (Lots)
Willy:
Dusknoir - Uses it as a tool and nothing else. Doesn't refer to it at all, conditioned it to respond to orders only.
Darkrai - Keeps it contained and under wraps. Never tries to use it for battle or utility. He doesn't want to risk losing control, even in his dreams. He would have to be desperate to resort to using it.
Beary:
Liligant (Hisui) - Uses it as a partner for light aerobics and yoga. Calls it Lily.
Golurk - Created it himself. He considers it something of a magnum opus. Refers to it by its species name.
Dragonite - His ace up his sleeve. He lets it guard the O-Dads compounds and bases. Calls it Raymond Dio Labot.
Bill:
Slaking - His oldest pokemon. Extraordinarily powerful, but just as lazy as he is. Calls it Brother.
Exploud - He likes it loud. Taught it to beatbox and Willy fucking hates it. Calls it Rock and/or Roll.
Rotom - Glenn's Rotom. He bequeathed it to him some time before he "died". He's the one that started calling it any variation of "Lil'" that Glenn caught on to.
The Doodler:
Unown Unknown

Thinking about Liko’s Sprigatito, and the fact that it’s a Grass-type starter getting the major spotlight for the first time in ages, as it’s Liko’s starter and the one who will likely evolve all the way to Meowscarada. Which is unique because Ash’s Pikachu is an Electric-type, but historically his other aces, namely Infernape and Greninja, were Fire- and Water-type respectively.
But what I find most interesting is how this ties into the theme of the four magical elements of fantasy: Fire, Water, Earth, and Air, the common elemental quartet in fantasy worlds, especially RPG ones, which Pokemon is innately rooted in. In Pokemon’s case, while the Fire- and Water-types’ respective representation of the Fire and Water elements is obvious, the Grass-type can be seen as the rough equivalent of the Earth element, as Earth magic often embodies dominion over plant life and plants come and derive energy from the earth, which is embodied well in the original Grass-type starter, Venusaur, who possesses the power to manipulate nature, release vines from its back, and other powers over the earth. Air meanwhile can roughly be represented by the Electric-type, as it embodies lightning, which comes from the air, and in many cases when lightning isn’t a separate element in a given fictional world it is tied to Air.
Ash’s Pikachu, being his starter and universal ace, is an Electric-type, and as such can roughly represent Air. In fiction, the Air element in terms of character often represents a carefree, energetic, and free spirit, which is what Ash is at his core. Ash’s Pikachu mirrors Ash himself in this aspect of his character, being playful, energetic, and friendly: everyone’s friend, just like Ash himself. Combat wise, the Air element is often associated with lack of raw strength and power, but what it lacks in this front it makes up for with speed and skillful offensive/defensive maneuvers: as a combatant, Pikachu is a small Pokemon that isn’t powerful in a vacuum, but is a skilled and fast Pokemon capable of using its speed and skill to its advantage.
Ash’s Fire-type starters, most of all Infernape who got a starring role as Ash’s ace in Sinnoh and is now the leader of Ash’s Fire-types at Oak’s lab, but to a lesser extent can be applied to Charizard and Incineroar as well, naturally represent the element of Fire. Fire is often the most common element for a Shonen hero to be associated with, and while Anipoke isn’t strictly a shonen, Ash has always been more or less a stock shonen hero in terms of his personality and goals. But more importantly, Fire is driven by passion. Oftentimes, this can be represented in being hotheaded and brash, which Ash is in many cases, especially when it comes to protecting Pokemon, but is more than anything an embodiment of willpower, determination, and spirit, as Fire is a high energy element innately. Ash is passionate, and determined to achieve his goals, most reflected in Infernape and how said willpower combined with Ash’s kindness to it drove Infernape’s mighty Blaze, which was driven by a sheer passion and determination to win, especially against Paul at the Sinnoh League.
Ash’s Greninja is another one of Ash’s most iconic Pokemon and his ace in Kalos, and as a Water-type, it naturally represents the element of Water. The Water element is a mix of strength and fluidity, and doesn’t have the sheer energy of Fire or Air, but has a distinct gracefulness and refinement to its strength. One who is associated with the element of Water is often represented as calm, profoundly wise, and one who goes with the flow. Greninja represents this best as it is very much graceful and skilled in battle, akin to a ninja, yet powerful with its Water Shuriken, and is more calm compared to Ash’s other Pokemon, yet carries an air of wisdom to it at the same time. Its power is made manifest as Ash and Greninja become one and it unleashes its true form as Ash-Greninja, and they master their power as heroic figures. This can in turn represent Ash as a capable role model to other who can inspire others with his passion and strength: he is one whose passion, experience, and life is one others can learn from both in battle and in terms of life principles.
Horizons is only just getting started, and Liko’s story has just begin, but her partner being Sprigatito, a Grass-type, and one who will likely evolve all the way based on Meowscarada’s popularity, can also be reflective of her character thus far from what we’ve seen, and Meowscarada seems to be setting up to be the first fully evolved Grass starter to receive star treatment in a long time, after Fire and Water-types like Infernape, Greninja, and Incineroar have carried that mantle. As I have said, the Grass-type best aligns with the Earth element of the Elemental Power quartet. In terms of characteristics, Earth is often associated with one who is strong, dependable, and protective of others: in many cases this also further is reinforced by a warm and motherly energy. Liko has a ways to go before her Sprigatito becomes a great Meowscarada, and the two have much development to go through thus far, but we can already see much of the Earth element in Liko’s character and how she has developed thus far: Liko has already stated that she wants to become a strong Trainer so she can protect the people and Pokemon she cares about, which is very much a characteristic of Earth characters. And we have also seen that she is very compassionate and empathetic: she can sense how others are feeling and her world thus far is centered around her relationships with people and Pokemon around her that she meets along the way, aligning with her personal growth of becoming someone who can protect others. Thus, we could see this further along the way as her Sprigatito will very likely evolve and become Meowscarada, and Meowscarada’s characteristics and battle style will likely very much align with these characteristics.
A long ass rant from my crazy neurodivergent brain but just compiled a bunch of interesting thoughts I had about Anipoke as of late here.

There are three pokemon I'm most curious about in the Mimikyu au: Charizard, Bayleef and Sceptile.
The first two are sort of obvious, but I ask about Sceptile because he's always been the emo of the group.
Charizard
He's very stilted in how he interacts with Ash. On one hand, he feels very guilt ridden despite not being there. So he wonders how things might have gone had he been by his friends side.
On the other, Ash is a young kit now. He needs to be cared for and looked after religiously. So often you'll get a very awkward interaction between them.
Unless someone tries to touch/grab Ash, then its hands down over protective.
Bayleef:
She loves Ash with all her heart, and him being a baby Mimikyu is not goig to change that.
Though she's extra clingy for the fear that something else might happen to him again. She's often seen carrying him on her back or with a vine on his tail so that he cant run off.
She's ridden with fear whenever he's not in sight and has to be constantly reminded of whose with Ash so she can calm down again. It geta better after a few months but in the beginning it's hard.
Sceptile:
He refuses to leave Ash's side. The moment the realize who he is, he does not want Ash to go at all. Often times, you'll see him try to convince Pikachu to get some rest and that everyone else will take care of and watch him. Though, he's stubborn when someone points out the same thing.
He just follows Ash around like a little duckling, and just croons sadly when he cant see him.
It gets better, and eventually Sceptile can relax again but for now, its very tense for him.

A walk in the forest
I’m bad at titles. Might change it later.
Fandom: Pokemon Horizons
Charakters: Friede, Roy, Liko, Captain, Murdock
The sun shined brightly. A gentle breeze lessened the day's heat. The wind carried the cry’s of starlys and rookiedees. It was a nice day. Friede watched as Roy chased after a Hoppip. The pokemon seemed to be enjoying the attention. It stopped now and again to let the boy catch up. Its leaves spun in one direction and then the other to show excitement. Liko stayed back at first but joined them when a few more Hoppips appeared. A few of them approached her immediately. She backed up. Roy’s loud laugh carried in the air as the pokemon spun around him in circles. One of them sat on his head. Liko crouched and petted the nearest Hippip. It called out in delight. Liko found herself with a lapful of Hippips asking to be pet. Friede couldn't help but chuckle at the sight.
They moved further into the forest as Roy chased the pokemon. Friede didn’t even realize how deep they had walked until the thick branches cut out the sun. The forest stopped seeming so friendly. A shiver ran down Friede’s spine. He couldn’t help but look into the forest searching for something. He was being paranoid. This was it. there wasn’t anything sinister hiding in the forest, right?
A branch snapped. Friede tensed ready for an attack. A Venonat emerged from the bushes. It looked him in the eye. They stared at each other for a moment. Then the pokemon scurried away. Friede relaxed. He shook his head. He really was becoming paranoid. They were safe.
Liko cried out. Friede looked over at the kids, sure that a pokemon had just surprised her. His blood ran cold. Two men stood before them. One of them was Friede's stature but the other was twice his size. Both wore the Explorers uniforms.
"Give as the pedant!" The smaller one demanded.
Friede moved and stood between them and the kids.
"No!" Liko exclaimed. She and Roy huddled closer to Friede. As if the closer they were the safer they felt. Friede liked the sentiment. But as he felt a small hand tug at his jacked, the practical part of him reminded that it would restrict his movements. On the other hand there could be more opponents hiding in the forest.
The Explorers smirked. Their smiles made a shiver run up Friede's spine. They called out a Bisharp and Victreebel.
"Furry cutter!" The Bisharp attacked. Pikachu dodged his cuts with easy grace.
"Thunder punch!" The Bisharp also dodged. It readied itself for a next attack.
"Vine whip!" Victreebel's attack surprised Pikachu. Friede also didn’t expect such speed from it. Captain managed to dodge the first two attacks but the third hit its mark. Pikachu skidded on the ground but managed to stay on his paws. Two against one weren't good odds. Friede gritted his teeth.
"Double team!"
"Metal claw!"
"Leaf tornado!"
Captain somehow dodged these attacks. The hours spent training this particular move had paid off. The leaf tornado landed dangerously close to Friede and the kids. They all scrambled back from the stray leaves.
"Volt tackle!" Pikachu charged. The Bisharp couldn’t decide which way to dodge. It’s moment of indecision cost it a hard hit. It went flying into the forest.
"Leaf blade!"
Pikachu, drained from the powerful attack, wasn’t fast enough. He cried out as the leaf blade cut into his skin.
"Let's end this!" The thinner Explorer called. Friede instinctively backed away a step.
The Victreebel used sleep powder. The attack wasn't directed neither at Pikachu nor Friede but at Liko. Friede hadn’t even noticed how far from each other they have gotten while trying to not get hit by a stray attack.
"Liko!" He called out.
Liko wasn't quick enough to dodge and slumped to the ground asleep. The bulky Explorer grabbed Liko's limp body as if it weighed nothing and ran. Friede followed him into the thick greenery. Leaves hit his face and arms. A branch caught his coat. He more heard the material rip than felt it. Panic trimming through his veins. Captain’s voice echoed somewhere in the distance. He tripped. Tried to grab something. A branch broke under his weight. He landed on his arms and knees. Barely managed to not faceplant into the mud. Something wrapped over his legs. Vine whip his mind supplied. He kicked out to get himself free. To no effect. The hold got tighter and tighter, His attempts grew more desperate. Something hit his face. He opened his eyes to stare stunned at the ceiling. His room's ceiling. Then his vision was obscured by Captain's worried face. Nightmare. It was just a nightmare. He sighed in relief. Run his hand through his hair. He sat up.
"Pika?"
"I'm fine, Captain. Just a bad dream." He petted his head. The pokemon leaned into the touch. "Thanks for waking me up." Friede still could feel his heart racing. His legs were tangled into the sheets. So this was the vine whip. He untangled himself. Straightened the sheets. Laid down with the intent of going back to sleep. When he closed his eyes he saw Liko's limp body. He opened his eyes. He took a few deep breaths. Closed his eyes again. Sat up when he was met by the same sight. He was definitely not going back to sleep. He swallowed. His tongue sat heavily in his mouth. He was thirsty. He got up.
"Pika?"
"Just going to get some water. You go back to sleep." Captain titled his head. Looked like he wanted to argue. Might have if he wasn’t already half asleep. He curled up in the sheets.
Friede got to the the kitchen as he told Captain he would. After drinking some water he didn't feel any calmer. He needed fresh air. The cold night breeze made him shiver. He hadn't even noticed how sweaty he was. He leaned on the railing. Sighed. The sky was beautiful tonight. With no clouds in sight the stars shone brightly. The moon showed in all its glory as it was the night of the full moon. Too bad he didn't feel like appreciating it today. His mind was still filled with the mad dash through the forest.
"Friede?" He jumped at the sound of Murdock's voice.
"Don't sneak up on me like that." He said with one hand over his heart. It was once again beating way too fast. Murdock was on today's night shift. He should have expected him.
"What are you doing up?" Murdock asked.
Friede shrugged. "Woke up and couldn't fall back asleep." Murdock studied him. Friede felt a pang of nervousness. He didn't think to check how he looked right now. He could imagine that he was paler than normal. His hair was probably a mess.
"Bad dream?" He asked. So it was that obvious.
Friede had leaned more into the railing before he could control himself. His shoulders hunched.
"Yeah."
"Wanna talk about it?"
No. Nope. He wanted to crumple the dream and throw it into his mental trash. Right where its place was. He shook his head. Murdock seemed a bit out of his depth after that. He started to say something. Then he thought better of it. Friede clenched the railing. Anxiety rolled in his stomach.
"Wanna keep me company?" He inclined his head in the direction of the cockpit. Friede came out here to be alone but it bought him no comfort. He suddenly found that he really didn’t want to be alone right now.
"Yeah" he smiled. Some of the tension had left him.
They got to the cockpit. Murdock left the Captain's seat for him but Friede chose to sit at the console. They sat in silence for a moment. Both observing the night sky. Friede’s thoughts returned to the dream. He hoped he would never see Liko like that. How could he prevent that? He should probably train the kids more. He had let them figure some things out themselves but maybe it would be better to start teaching them some proper strategy. They should be more careful when they go out. Maybe he will start digging some information about the Explorers.
"Friede."
He started in his seat. He looked at Murdock embarrassed.
"I can hear you thinking from here. There's no way you're going back to sleep tonight if you keep it up."
Friede set his jaw. Bounced his leg. "I know."
He did know. But he couldn't stop himself from going back to the dream. It was entirely different from nightmares about abstract situations. It felt so real. It could actually happen.
"Do you want a distraction?" Murdock asked.
"A distraction?" Friede titled his head.
"Yeah. I will talk about something and this way you won't be thinking about whatever is keeping you awake."
"This could work actually." Friede admitted.
"So since we're going to Galar I was thinking of trying cooking some curry. I was hoping I could buy red and yellow curry paste. They taste quite different. The red one-"
The easy way that Murdock had started his curry monologue made Friede smile. He soon found himself relaxing in his seat as he listened to his friend. After they spent about an hour like that Friede found himself yawing.
"Ah! Success." Murdock exclaimed.
Friede couldn't help but chuckle at that.
"I guess I will be going then."
"Go, go. It's nearly sunrise. Goodnight. Sleep tight."
Friede waved him goodbye. He walked to his room and crawled into bed. He really was tired. His limbs felt heavy.
"Pika pi?" Captain asked half asleep.
"Had a chat with Murdock."
"Pika"
The professor and pokemon curled up together and if no one came to wake him up when he overslept no one mentioned it.

No.21 ‘Till Death Do Us Part.
Ao3 link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/51001621
Words: 1,651
Cws: Possible death, (it’s left open to interpretation), definitely kidnapping, losing a spouse, dread?
Prompt: No. 21: “See the chains around my feet.” Vows | Restraints | “Don't move.”
Notes: I’m SO SORRY Teashipping community, I really want to write nice stuff about them, but this is all that I find myself spitting out. XD
Daisy readjusted the papers on her clipboard, squinting at the rare Pokemon she was tracking as she fought to keep an eye on it. The forest was a mess of underbrush and vines, but that was what she and Bill were here for. In order to combat the habitat destruction currently happening in the coral reefs and dark caves of her region and its colonies, Bill had devised a plan to show exactly how important a pristine natural environment was.
Daisy scribbled down a note on her paper, seeing a small scratch on the ear of the eevee, but sure to notice that it did not seem to be hindering the little creature in any way. She was so proud of Bill for thinking of this idea. In the past she had joked that she loved him so much that she couldn't stop thinking about him even while researching, and someday she was going to go over her notes and find a draft of a proposal written there instead.
Well, when that joke had become a reality, she just had to follow through with it, didn't she?
Her wedding ring fit comfortably on her finger, and it clacked lightly against her pen as she readjusted her clipboard once again. She couldn't help but smile as she caught her mind drifting away from her work and to her husband. He was the only thing that had ever been able to do that to her. She laughed and shook her head slightly, tapping her pen against the paper in an effort to get her focus back. This was his dream project, she had to focus! (After all, he was right behind her, focusing on his own piece of the project, she really should be working on hers.)
She looked back at the Pokemon and tried to make up for what she'd missed in daydreaming. The Eevee with the scratch on its ear, a really young looking Pikachu who had somehow already evolved from a Pichu, and... She squinted. Where had the other one gone? She scooted a little farther, scanning the complicated spaghetti strings of thorns for the Charmander that had been playing with the others just a few seconds ago.
She looked a little harder, her pen seeming to scratch of its own accord as she focused on what was actually happening with the Pokemon. Both of them were standing still and silent, none of their adorable playing that they had been so invested in mere moments before. She blinked as if to clear a film from her eyes, but no, the two were still there, shivering in fear. (As if they knew something that she didn’t.)
She looked all around, but she didn’t see any of the threats that the Pokemon seemed so scared of. She felt her eyebrows knit together. Predation was definitely a natural fact of a well protected natural environment, but now that she was seeing the scared looks on the little animal’s faces, she was beginning to feel that awful chill of dred as well. Something felt very off there, but she didn’t have a clue what.
And then it hit her.
“Bill,” she whispered, trying to keep as quiet as possible, more out of panic rather than to not disturb the natural scene around them, “Do you hear anything?”
Bill stopped his scribbling, looking at her in confusion for a few moments before the utter silence of the forest registered to him. His eyes were suddenly lit with concern, and he squeezed Daisy’s hand tightly. “No,” his murmured, even quieter than she had been, “There could be a large predator in the area,”
Daisy looked nervously around them once more. Just because they were completely concealed in underbrush and sandwiched between two rotting tree trunks didn’t mean anything if there was a large Pokemon coming towards them. (Out of the corner of her eye, she watched as the Eevee and the Pikachu scampered off into the underbrush, presumably deciding that their chances were better if they ran.)
“What should we do?” Daisy asked, leaning into Bill as her heartbeat spiked in intensity, “Do you think we can handle a large Pokemon?”
Bill nodded slowly and patted a Pokeball on his hip, but he didn’t look entirely convinced with himself either. If there did happen to be a large, predatory Pokemon around here, it probably wouldn’t decide to attack them, but if it did… Bill was a lot of things, a lot of wonderful things, but a good battler wasn’t exactly one of them. Daisy pulled her legs a little closer to her chest, gripping Bill’s hand as tightly as she could manage without accidentally hurting him.
“Hey,” Bill whispered, brushing a string of Daisy’s behind her ear, “I vowed to protect you, remember?”
Daisy felt her heart swell as the memories replayed in her mind. A gorgeous wedding. Not too big, not too small, the perfect mix of family and friends. Food that she could have given her left leg to eat every day, a good mix of battlers and performers as their entertainment. The prettiest dress she’d ever seen. It had been a perfect wedding, with so many amazing parts that she couldn’t even list them all, but even so, she knew what her favorite had been.
Call her old fashioned, but Daisy had always thought that the best part of a wedding were the vows. How could a pretty cake or a nice dress ever compare to that glowing love that had filled her when Bill pledged his love to her, from now into forever, and that true, calming meaning of forever that she had felt when she had pledged her love to him? How could it ever compare to that truth of perfect love?
“Yes,” she whispered, pulled back into the present as a hungry wind rushed through the trees above them, “I remember,”
“Well,” Bill smiled that ever jokey smile of his, “I’m going to! Don’t you worry a bit, you’re safe with me!”
Daisy stifled a giggle, but she was cut off as the sudden sound of footsteps started coming through the woods. Instantly Bill’s expression changed to one of alarm, and Daisy’s heartbeat picked up in tempo once more.
“That’s not a Pokemon,” Daisy hissed, hearing awful human voices floating through the twisted trees. In any other situation, the sound of a human would have made Daisy feel better, but something about those barking laughs was all wrong.
“I know,” Bill hissed back, pressing closer to her as if to shield her from what they didn’t even know yet. His breathing was coming hard and fast, and Daisy had to admit that she wasn’t faring any better.
“Where are they?” Daisy whispered, her fingernails digging into Bill’s palm as she squeezed his hand. (They had been holding hands for so long now that his wedding ring now felt warm in her hands.)
“I don’t know,” Bill answered, his eyes glowing with panic as the footsteps and voices grew louder, “But if they see us…” They held still for a little longer, shivering as the people grew closer and closer to their hiding spot.
“...that’s the plan,” one of them was saying, “We take over the company and we’ll have free stock,”
Daisy and Bill looked at each other in alarm, suddenly very aware that they should have taken after the Pokemon and ran long ago. Without even speaking, they knew each other’s plans. They had to get out of there, now.
Daisy started the race, jumping up and over the tree trunk as she dragged Bill after her. Immediately, she saw the men she had been hearing. Four or five of them, all dressed in the traditional black garb of grunts of an evil team, and all looking right at her and Bill. The problem was, they were only a few feet away.
“Run!” Daisy yelled, but the two of them didn’t get very far before the men reached them. Hands wrapped around Bill, and he screamed as he was yanked to a stop. His hand was torn out of hers, and one of the men laughed as Bill was forced to the ground.
“Bill!” Daisy yelled, skidding to a stop of her own in order to look back at her husband. “No!” The remaining men inched closer to Daisy, but she did not budge.
“Run!” Bill yelled. Despite the hold the grunts had on him, he only seemed focused on her safety, “Please!”
“No!” She screamed, fumbling for Pokeballs but finding none on her person, “I can’t leave you! I love you!” The evil men seemed to laugh, and one began to reach for a weapon on his waist as Daisy continued to stand there.
“Run,” Bill whispered again, so quiet Daisy could not hear, but loud enough that she understood every word, “I want you safe, please, keep yourself safe for me,”
Daisy felt tears begin to rush down her face, but she nodded.
She ran.
She ran for so long she didn’t know what was what anymore, tearing through thorns and ferns and feeling the cold wetness of streamwater fill her boots. She ran for so long that the shouts of the men disappeared into the darkness of the forest behind her. She ran for so long that her head began to swim with cotton and fuzz, but it could not stop her from thinking about her husband.
Shaking, she dropped to her knees. “Bill!” She sobbed, feeling thorns prick into her knees, “Bill!”
He had promised that they would always be together! He had promised her would protect her! He had promised they would love each other until the ends of their lives! They had so much more to do together, how could she have just left him like that?!
Daisy curled up in the rotting leaves.
Bill was gone, and it was all her fault.

BB25 Houseguests and what superpower I think they might have
America: I think she gets elasticity powers, but she'll be more Ralph Dibny than Elastigirl.
Blue: I get sorcerer vibes from her kinda. She probably has a small spellbook where she practices spells and writes others down on the fly. Alex Russo vibes.
Bowie Jane: Can manipulate and conduct electric currents through her body. Electro. Static Shock. Pikachu.
Cameron: Grows vines and plants from his body. Think Wildvine from Ben 10.
Cirie: Probably one with psychic powers but much stronger than what one may think. Can use her mind to bend reality and has strong telepathy and telekinetic powers. Could also have omniscience. Very powerful, but not too OP.
Cory: His screams emanate a powerful sonic boom that blow things away. Similar to Carl's power in the N Men episode on Jimmy Neutron.
Felicia: Can talk to and quell wild animals. She seems like the nurturing type so she'll be queen of the beasts.
Hisam: Shapeshifter. Can manipulate his appearance to look like anyone from his memory.
Izzy: Probably something similar to what Yondu/Kraglin have and she has a small but sharp arrow that she can control using her flute.
Jag: Can teleport through short distances and phase through walls. I just thought of Nightcrawler from X-Men for him. I LOVE Nightcrawler and I think he could fit this role perfectly.
Jared: I'm not sure if he'll inherit the full stint of his mother's powers but he'll have a small bit. He can create force fields and fire pulse beams from his palms.
Kirsten: Gravity manipulation. Urara from MHA. When she touches something, it glows with a teal aura and its weight will shift to whatever she wants it to be, whether lighter or heavier.
Luke: Ink manipulation. Has a magic notepad where everything he draws materializes in front of him.
Matt: Sound waves materialize to him in the form of visible light and auras. He can take these auras and fire them as forceful beams.
Mecole: I'm getting Wonder Woman vibes from her. Enhanced strength and agility + an arsenal of weapons she has in store with her.
Red: Earth bender. Can manipulate the ground beneath him to shield him from attacks and throw rocks at enemies.
Reilly: Can manipulate the temperature of surfaces, meaning they can go either flaming hot or ice cold.
#bb25#my first list of the season!#i don't think this will be used for bbcomics but i'd like to think it could happen#do i make this into fanfiction or art#my hero academia: BB edition

here [ x. x. x. ] are some examples of what vash's little guy looks like. someone please help me name him lmao. he's electric/fairy and is a terrible little beast. he's about the size of a small chicken until he unfolds his feathers or stretches out his neck/legs and then he is Big and Puffy and Long. He runs around on two little stick legs and he's fast as fuck but also has two tiny grabby hands hiding under all the feathers and can grab stuff like a chinchilla. He squawks real loud and WILL electrocute you like season one pikachu and is a general menace.
Edit: he has a name now! it's Sero, Latin for to grow/plant/sow
abilities;
double team - already fast little critter somehow becomes even faster. he's very good at running away.
thundershock - ranging from a gentle static shock to nigh on genuine lightning bolts, it has little control over what the strength of its attack will be. similar to Vash's ability to manipulate things with his Plant Gate, Sero can infuse this energy into the user's choice-- or, more accurately, whatever he chooses. again, he has very little control over just how much energy is diffused.
scratch - those tiny little claws have to be good for something !
feather whip - think vine whip, but with feathers! they're not very sharp, but they move quick and they sting when they hit.
screech - he's very annoying.

Part 2 of my rambles about how the Unova movies would play out in the EBWT AU!
As the movie begins, the narrator gives an introduction about the Pokémon world before it cuts to a scene of Ash and his Pikachu in a battle with a Pokémon Trainer's Druddigon. He commands Pikachu to use Thunderbolt on the Druddigon. As the Thunderbolt hits, the scene changes to a grass field where Keldeo is training with Virizion. It detects Virizion in the grass and uses Hydro Pump. As the scene progresses, and after Virizion draws its sword, Keldeo attempts to do the same thing but was unable to do so. It then uses its horn as the sword and clashes its horn with Virizion's sword. Later, the scene changes to rocky terrain where Keldeo trains with Terrakion. When Keldeo kicked, it sends Terrakion flying, and Terrakion crashes into a boulder, which falls onto it. It manages to lift that boulder with its strength and Sacred Sword. The two eventually clash weapons. Finally, the scene changes to a dead forest as Keldeo runs alongside Cobalion. A storm envelops the area and burns a few trees down in front of Keldeo. Cobalion notices Keldeo's actions and persistence and tells Keldeo that its actions are reckless. Keldeo exclaims that it wants to battle Kyurem and when asked when it will be ready, Cobalion doesn't answer; instead, it draws its sword, and spars with Keldeo.
The scene changes to a flowing stream, where the three Swords of Justice ask themselves whether Keldeo is ready to fight Kyurem. According to Cobalion, Keldeo hasn't fully learned the weight of the sword and is not ready yet. Keldeo overhears them and tries to convince them, but to no avail. While the Swords of Justice sleep, Keldeo sneaks out and heads to Full Court, where Kyurem resides. Eventually the three notice, and so they left to search for Keldeo. When Keldeo arrives, it challenges Kyurem to battle, which the Boundary Pokémon accepts. When the Swords of Justice arrive, the two are already in battle. During the fight, Kyurem breaks off Keldeo's horn with Shadow Claw, causing the Colt Pokémon to become paralyzed with fear. Terrakion attempts to stop the fight to save Keldeo, but Cobalion tells it not to interfere. This aggravates Kyurem, who shifts into White Kyurem and freezes the trio, to prevent further interference. Noticing its friends frozen, Keldeo is overcome with fear and flees from the battle. Kyurem, furious, angrily declares that their battle is not yet over...
Meanwhile, Ash and his friends are on their journey, boarding a train that leads to a city. Oshawott, Pikachu, and Axew are playing in the train car, later joined by Scraggy. The train stops at Windy Station. Cress notices a stall selling Darumaka lunch boxes and gets some for the group, along with water bottles and Oran Berry Pops. Because that is totally something he would do, especially given the personality I gave him for the EBWT AU XD
Anyway, Chili thinks it’s great that Cress is working through his grief over Cash Networth getting murked in Elesa’s gym. Cilan thinks that Cress’s trust issues have to go.
Ash has to carry the lunch boxes, yet he trips over Scraggy, sending the boxes flying. Fortunately, the quintent's Pokémon and Iris manage to catch the lunch boxes. As they all board, they accidentally leave Scraggy in the station just as the train leaves, and notice he is trying to run for it. Ash urges him to jump on, but the Shedding Pokémon can't muster the strength to do so, so Ash commands Snivy to fetch him with Vine Whip. She manages to catch him and bring him in, but suddenly, a Pokémon slips on the mountain, landing on top of the train. Pikachu notices and tells the rest to follow him. It was Keldeo, injured from its previous battle. As Ash and his friends find it, it warns them about Kyurem. Suddenly, Kyurem leaps onto the train and attacks the group, and soon was forced to jump off the train when the train entered a tunnel. Later on, they move to a cargo area of the train, where Iris tells the group about the legend of Kyurem, which she learned from the Village of Dragons' elder.
The train arrives at Roshan City and the group visits the Pokémon Center there so Keldeo can be treated. Nurse Joy identifies the Colt Pokémon to the group, and tells them the legend of the Swords of Justice. She mentions that according to this legend, the three arrived at a forest plagued by flames from a war between human factions. Terrakion shaped an escape route into the earth, Virizion used its speed to shield the fleeing Pokémon, and Cobalion escorted the Pokémon to safety. Within the ashes of the now burned-down forest, they found a lone Pokémon—Keldeo—that they took in as their own. Keldeo is training to be a Sword of Justice.
Later, when Keldeo has been healed (except for its horn), it walks outside the Pokémon Center with Ash and his friends. Chili expresses relief on Keldeo's recovery. Ash and his friends introduce themselves and Ash asks Keldeo what happened. While a Liepard and a Herdier battle on a nearby battlefield, Keldeo tells them what it did before it met them. It also reveals that to become a Sword of Justice, one has to defeat Kyurem. After telling them how it ran away, Keldeo douses its head under a pipe. Keldeo speculates that Kyurem is probably furious, and Ash realizes that that's why Kyurem attacked them. Ash questions it, asking if it's scared. He says that Keldeo shouldn't be scared just because it lost, which angers Keldeo. It vows to rescue the Swords of Justice right then. Ash and his friends agree and promise to go with Keldeo. First, they eat from the Darumaka lunch boxes. Ash and Keldeo eat quickly and simultaneously choke, which makes Iris call both Ash and Keldeo "little kids".
Meanwhile, at the harbor, the water freezes over. As an army of Cryogonal surround the area, Kyurem bursts out of the frozen lake. The Cryogonal head into the city, with Kyurem following and turning into White Kyurem. The transformation triggers another flashback of the elder showing Iris Kyurem's White Form, along with Black Kyurem. As Ash and his friends walk, the air suddenly becomes cold and the waterfall next to them freezes. Kyurem's Cryogonal army show up and attack them. The group flees, with White Kyurem and the Cryogonal in pursuit. Pikachu uses Thunderbolt on Kyurem, prompting it to turn into Black Kyurem and retaliate with Dragon Pulse. Kyurem then heads to the top of the city's tallest tower. Pikachu repels the Cryogonal with Iron Tail and Electro Ball, and as more arrive to surround them, Keldeo flies away with Hydro Pump with Ash and Pikachu holding on tight. With the Cryogonal in hot pursuit, Ash, Pikachu and Keldeo head towards a bridge where Iris and the Striaton City Gym Leaders are. The Cryogonal use Ice Beam to freeze the river. Ash sends out Boldore to ride across the ice with Keldeo and escape.
The group retreats into the subway tunnels. Cilan tries to open the first door, but it's locked, so Keldeo kicks it open. As they walk through the tunnel, Ash says he's kinda hungry, to which Iris calls him a kid. Keldeo asks if there are any lunch boxes left, further unamusing Iris. They come to another door, which Keldeo attempts to break open again. However, Iris stops the Colt Pokémon and pushes it open, remarking that some doors are open. They arrive at the subway station filled with train cars and other vehicles from the past. Spotting a blimp, Iris gets an idea. The Cryogonal enter through the subway tunnels, and pursue the blimp that is piloted by Iris. Ash, the triplets and Keldeo use a train car to exit the city. Keldeo thinks about Iris' plan to use herself as a diversion so they can escape. Iris teases the duped Cryogonal just as Black Kyurem arrives and freezes the blimp with cold air, causing it to plummet towards the nearby lake. The Cryogonal then go to where Ash and the triplets went, going after another moving train car piloted by Cress and powered by his Baltoy. Ash and Keldeo hide behind a hut and retreat into the forest. All the while, Keldeo thinks about Iris and the triplets, while also thinking about the Swords of Justice raising their Sacred Swords to the air and delivering their oath. Ash asks Keldeo what the Swords of Justice are like, and the Colt Pokemon says that Terrakion is the toughest Pokémon he knows, nice and funny too. Keldeo says that Virizion is calm, smart, and the fastest of the three. Finally, Keldeo gets to Cobalion, the leader of the trio, who is stern in his training and says things he doesn't always understand.
Kyurem's Cryogonal are still chasing after Cress, who sends out his vespiquen and has it use String Shot as soon as they enter the tunnel. However, their train car gets frozen by cold air from Black Kyurem. The Boundary Pokémon and its Cryogonal army head out after realizing they've been tricked again. As Keldeo and Ash continue their walk, Keldeo asks Ash why he is helping him if they just met, and Ash says they are friends. They eventually arrive at Full Court, just as White Kyurem and the Cryogonal return. Kyurem lets out a fearsome roar, which frightens Keldeo and reminds him of how his horn was broken off in their last battle. Ash remains determined, but Keldeo backs up, trembling in fear, and admitting that he lied to Kyurem about being a Sword of Justice. Ash tells Keldeo not to worry, going in with Pikachu to handle things themselves. Keldeo tries to go with them, but his fear once again gets the better of him.
As Iris meets up with the triplets, Ash looks for the Swords of Justice. The sun rises, revealing the trio still frozen. Ash sends out Boldore and Pignite, having them and Pikachu use Flamethrower, Rock Smash and Iron Tail. Ash also tries to break the trio free with a pipe, but all their efforts are halted by the arrival of Kyurem. The Boundary Pokémon tells Ash to leave, but he still tries to free the Swords of Justice. Kyurem uses Dragon Pulse, but Keldeo arrives and interferes with Focus Blast. Ash tells Keldeo that he knew he'd come, and Keldeo is glad that Ash believed in him. The Colt Pokémon then admits to Kyurem that he lied before about being a Sword of Justice. Kyurem comes out and says that he knew all along, wanting to finish their battle. Keldeo finds himself trembling again, but Ash reassures him that he's going to be a Sword of Justice. Keldeo realizes that he has never been alone. Refusing to run this time, Keldeo turns into his Resolute Form, just as Iris and the triplets join up with Ash. The two battle until Kyurem eventually gains the upper hand on Keldeo, using Ice Beam to freeze his leg. Kyurem turns into Black Kyurem and charges up for Freeze Shock. Ash and Pikachu try to stop the Boundary Pokémon with Thunderbolt, but Keldeo fires a warning Focus Blast at them, wanting to keep fighting on. Breaking out of the ice with Hydro Pump, Keldeo uses Double Team and Focus Blast, the impact of the attack colliding with Kyurem's Freeze Shock freeing the Swords of Justice. The trio praise Ash and his friends and thank them for saving Keldeo. Keldeo continues the fight against Kyurem, but quickly starts running out of steam as the Boundary Pokémon knocks him back with Shadow Claw. Iris begs the Swords of Justice to step in, but they insist that this is Keldeo's battle, not theirs. Keldeo doesn't give in, avoiding Kyurem's attacks while remembering the advice given to him by the Swords of Justice. Keldeo uses Focus Blast and rams into the attack increase its impact on Kyurem, throwing it out of the arena.
The Swords of Justice praise Keldeo's progress, knowing all he needs to do now is use his Sword. Black Kyurem arrives and uses Freeze Shock, which freezes Keldeo. While encased in the ice, Keldeo starts glowing bright yellow and bursts out using Secret Sword. He gains the upper hand over Kyurem using this move, countering its Dragon Pulse as the Boundary Pokémon praises Keldeo's true power. Keldeo and Kyurem meet each other with Freeze Shock and Focus Blast. The Freeze Shock suddenly heads towards Ash, Iris, Cress and Chili, but Cilan jumps in front of them and gets frozen to death.
"Cilan!" Chili screams at the Boundary Pokemon, and holds Cilan's corpse. He starts crying.
The mood is somber. Chili is sad that his younger brother is dead, Iris and Ash are surprised, and Cress?
Cress is a fucking wreck ready to flatten Kyurem with a steamroller if one were available.
He has Panpour use Water Gun on Kyurem, and when the Boundary Pokemon is recovering from the damage, tells him this:
"You caused this, and you better damn well fix it, because he's my brother! And if the same thing happens to my other brother or the other two... I will end you."
Cress then talks to his Herdier, and finds out via his Aura powers that he can lick Cilan’s frozen body back to life.
With a little help from the rest of Cress’s team, Pikachu’s thunderbolt, Pignite, Chili’s Pansear, Lampent and Heatmor, they melt Cilan out, who doesn't remember what happened after he got frozen solid.
As Kyurem walks off, Keldeo changes back to his normal form, his horn restored. Cobalion tells Keldeo that he now knows the true weight of the Sword. Suddenly, the steel beams start collapsing, so the group retreats. White Kyurem uses Ice Burn to freeze all the falling debris.
The Swords of Justice congratulate Keldeo on becoming one of them, as do Ash and his friends. With that, the Swords of Justice recite their oath, this time with Keldeo joining them in his Resolute Form.

Pt3 of the Ash AU teams, Johto edition.
Gonna try to shorten it a bit compared to last time. Johto has a special place in my heart so I wouldn't really change a lot of the story, but I will cover team changes I make.
As usual, the final team of this AU, and remember this is just for fun.
So before we really begin, let's go over the beginning releases:
Ash would leave Snorlax at home like usual, finding that he's pretty at ease on the ranch. He'd take the rest of the Orange team- Pikachu, Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, and Espeon with him.
Getting to Johto, Ash would still catch Heracross first, and he'd still be a bit weird around Venusaur- except Venusaur can flick him away now with vines.
Charizard will still train in Charrific Valley, but instead of Ash being a big jerk about it, he instead comes to realize that Charizard got as strong as he did without Ash for the most part (in this AU), and he believes he's truly holding Charizard back from his full potential. He promises to reunite with him again (as they would in the movie and Clair's gym/the Silver Conference), but the goodbye is tearful and Ash makes a run for it before he can truly change his mind.
Chikorita would join closely after that happens, and Venusaur actually takes a bit if a mentorship to her for as long as he's on the team.
However, Oak would request Venusaur to come back home much sooner in the series to help deal with the Pokemon on the ranch. This is another tough goodbye, but again, they promise to see each other again.
Cyndaquil would eventually join the team as usual.
Blastoise would be left behind with Officer Jenny and the Squirtle Squad again, now with more Wartortles and Squirtles. The previous leader Blastoise appointed eventually decided to go on a journey of its own, and the rest of the gang was in disarray. Blastoise takes an easy leadership role again, and Ash realizes he has to leave ANOTHER friend behind. He does so knowing that things are different now, that the Squad are actually doing great things now, and need Blastoise's guidance. Like Charizard, Blastoise would come back again and NOT be forgotten for the most part Luke Squirtle was in the anime. Like Jesus they WROTE HIM GONE.
Anyway, Ash eventually catches Totodile, same as before.
So that leaves us with this team. This would sort of happen by the first gym or so, so everything is a bit fast paced, but Ash eventually comes to terms with this as a sort of fresh start. This team would stick for the first 3 gyms with the new gang gaining some important victories.
However, Team Rocket is back in Johto with a vengeance. Unlike the anime, we'd see the rocket executives make an appearance, and like the games, they play hardball. Ash actually fights Archer as he tries an early attempt at Goldenrod tower, and his Houndoom (Ash at this point is still not familiar with Dark types). Houndoom is powerful and with most of Ash's team being under powered, Espeon is the only one left that's able to defend Ash and the gang. Espeon truly loves his friends, and unleashes EVERYTHING to send Team Rocket (not Jesse, James, Meowth, or Wobbuffett) somewhere far away so they can't hurt anyone else. However, Espeon pushed itself too far after taking serious abuse from Houndoom, and even the gem in his forehead gets cracked, and Nurse Joy tells Ash that Espeon must stay away from battles for a while. Espeon doesn't want to leave Ash's side, and Ash wallows in self pity for allowing him to get this hurt. He decides to call his mom for advice- she tells him a bit about how his dad used to liken being a good trainer to being a good parent, and sometimes parents have to make tough decisions for the ones they love. She even offers to take in Espeon and pamper him until he feels better. Ash sees Primeape and Arcanine actually living pretty cheerfully with Deliah and Mimey, and Ash makes the very difficult but kind decision to send Espeon back home, thanking him for all the fun times they had together and for loving him enough to evolve into this form. Espeon won't fight again until the Johto league, but there's probably a beach episode towards Cianwood where Deliah brings Espeon, Primeape, Arcanine, and Mimey with her on vacation.
Ash spends a bit of time soul searching, wondering if he is even cut out to be a trainer anymore. Brock and Misty try to assure him that it wasn't even his fault, Archer and Houndoom were just that tough and Espeon chose to fight to protect them all. Still, Ash recognizes key mistakes he made, and almost considers going home.
Then he encounters Noctowl, the gang's first ever shiny encounter. It's a Pokemon that makes Ash and Pikachu remember seeing Ho-oh for the first time, and the others urge him to try and catch it- mainly to try and get his mind off of Espeon for a bit. Ash almost refuses, but a poacher threatens to catch it to sell it to the highest bidder. Ash defends Noctowl from said poacher and with the help of his loyal team even sends him blasting off. Ash tells Noctowl to fly off and be free, but Noctowl actually chooses to battle Ash instead, basically seeing Ash's kindness and wanting to test him. Ash eventually catches him, and although he is a bit aloof, Ash has a renewed spark in his eyes and decides to continue the challenge.
Sometime after Ecruteak, we start seeing the gang evolve. Cyndaquil would actually evolve first among the trio- fitting because he literally evolves sooner gamewise (seriously why did they wait til the end of Sinnoh?). He evolves after intense training at the lighthouse. Quilava loses his timidness and is a bit cooler here- but not to the point of disobeying. His Flame Wheel ends up becoming a powerful technique to rely on.
Bayleef evolves like usual to protect him from TR and is sad she can't ride on Ash's shoulder anymore, but still loves him enough to tackle him to the ground.
Totodile would evolve during the trip to Cianwood, where he literally parties so hard on the ferry he evolves right then and there. He's still a goofy, dancing goober- Misty even remarks that it was cuter when he was tiny- but now he wants to dance with other people as well when he gets very happy. Croconaw actually ends up being pretty strong and learns both Rain Dance and Surf- of which he sometimes uses Rain Dance by complete accident. It takes a bit of training from the gang to help him suppress Rain Dance, but it would actually come in handy in the future.
The journey continues mostly as normal, including reuniting with Richie in the Whirl Islands, beating Jasmine, etc.
But then we get to the Lake of Rage, where Team Rocket is emitting a signal that forces Pokemon to evolve. To help quell the Red Gyarados with Lance, Ash tries to use Croconaw to fight- but the signal reaches him as well and triggers an evolution while also causing him to go berserk. Lance tells Ash and the others to only use fully evolved Pokemon or Pokemon like Pikachu that require outside help to evolve, and with the help of Pikachu, Heracross, and Noctowl, they eventually calm the rampaging Pokemon of the lake.
Ash and the others worry deeply about Feraligatr and apologize for having to hurt him, but as it turns out, he's not bothered at all by it and just dances again like nothing happened. It's a relief to see him still be the loveable goof ball he is, and he utilizes his newfound strength in important battles down the road.
For anyone wondering why I chose Totodile specifically to fully evolve and not the others, it'll make sense a bit further down the road, but also I still dislike that he's the only one of the Johto trio that never evolved (remember, we're not immune to the "too cute to evolve" routine). Bayleef I left alone because I actually agree with the decision to leave it as is, because it does look sportier than Meganium. Quilava... again, you'll see.
But for now this is Ash's full Johto team that will take him to the league. Other big story changes here are that Blastoise and the Squirtle Squad would help put out flames caused by the Gyarados at the lake of Rage and give Ash an important reunion. Charizard does still come back to help fight Clair, but Ash has Feraligatr helping as well.
At some point the gang go back to help stop a second Rocket Takeover, and Ash and Archer have a rematch. Archer tries to get under Ash's skin about being such a pitiful trainer that he injured Espeon, but Pikachu and the rest of the team stand up for Ash, defying Archer's nasty attempt to dishearten him again. This time they win in a proper battle and Ash quietly saved Johto AND Kanto from a wide spread evolution frequency like at the Lake of Rage. He gets a few interviews, a few sponsorships, and Ash even gets an egg from the daycare center in thanks.
Then we have the boy. Ash still gets Phanpy as an egg, and I'd imagine he'd tag along in Heracross's place for a bit as well in some cases like a movie short. However, Phanpy would actually evolve pretty quickly in the league after several tough matches. Donphan is still pretty cute acting, actually about as gentle as he was as a baby, and is very sweet towards the others.
By this point, Ash and Gary have a final match in the Johto league, and Ash brings in some big guns. Like the actual league, Ash brings Pikachu, Snorlax, Heracross, and Charizard, but in this AU he also brings out Ferakigatr and Espeon- a surprise last addition who has finally recovered.
It's a tough fight, Gary taunts Ash a lot and says hes not worthy to be a trainer, and Ash tells Gary that he thought so for a while, too, but his friends and Pokemon have taught him a lot and he's matured since their early rivalry in Pallet Town. This is finally the time Ash will win, he swears it.
It's a tough fight, but a huge key moment comes from Feraligatr setting up Rain Dance right before falling to Gary's Blastoise, which allows Pikachu to land Thunder at higher power and without worrying about accuracy. Ash finally wins, and as Gary is about to leave, he considers quitting after losing to someone like him. But Ash reveals that, even though Gary is a stuck up jerk and full of himself, Ash always wanted to be his friend and to be seen as his equal. That's all he ever wanted from him, really. Gary finally mellows out, says he has some thinking to do, and thanks Ash for being honest. They'll meet again, maybe on better terms.
Then Ash loses the league again lol. Gotta get to Hoenn sonehow.
That's all for tonight, thanks for reading. From here on out, these might start getting shorter, mainly because A. Carpal tunnel, B. Going forward, I either agree with plot decisions for the most part, only have small revisions to make, or simply have not watched enough of the anime past this point to really make too much of an informed decision beyond teams.
There's a few surprises on the horizon of course, but tomorrow's will probably be shorter.
Tune in for DD rewrites the anime, next time
