Im sorry but thoughts happened :D

Polites' design is one of my favorites and i learnt that i need to draw Telemachus more often. Also when i draw i always assign colours to each country so all the royal people in Ithaca wear yellow and red in my mind. Idk. The stories basically the same but with Eurylochus and Polites instead of Odysseus and Penelope. Except Polites gets to kill Eurymachus with one of the axes because how dare he use open arms.

Eurylochus and Odysseus built the olive tree bed together. Or rather Eurylochus helped Odysseus build it for Penelope. But he still helped. So the tree bit in Would You Fall In Love With Me Again still makes sense.

Odysseus and Penelope were killed by an assassin i guess who was hired by someone who Odysseus probably messed with. Probably another king. They were gonna kill baby Telemachus too but Polites got there first. Now they just kinda. Haunt the palace. They were given proper burials just this is more fun, especially when they get to mess with the suitors.

Telemachus is raised by Polites and Eurylochus. Hes born erlier or the war is later but i want him to remember Eurylochus after he leaves for the war. So he has his two dads and then theres the knowledge that he also has Penelope and Odysseus (whose ghosts he cannot see) who are his biological parents.

Polites stays in Ithaca because like Ithaca can't loose all four of its leaders in the space of like two years or something. Someone has to stay behind. On that note he also decided to be like yes i am the "Queen" of Ithaca. Because he would probably not loose a bunch of respect for not going to war is hes the Queen you know? And the suitors are stupid and didnt figure that out.

Um what else. I guess neither of them ever expected to become rulers, i like to imagine Polites is Penelope's little brother, and just came with her from Sparta, but even there he was like. Last in line for the throne. And nobody took him seriously because he's him.

Eurylochus was raised alongside Odysseus as his brother. And would have only been expected to take the throne if all Odysseus, Penelope and Ctimene died without an heir. So he was probably like yaay when Telemachus was born but then people went and died anyways. And Ctimene's not married in this au.

Oh yeah also Eurylochus has Aphrodite instead of Athena. I decided that a long time ago because he cares for the crew so much in Epic and i was just like. Its still Eurylochus why shouldnt he still have Aphrodite. Yes i know she was on the Trojan's side in the war and i have decided that that is irrelivant.

Elpenor is the dude that talks to the Lotus Eaters and gets killed by the cyclops this time around. Sorry Elpenor. Perimedes is the second-in-command. Someone else came up with the horse idea, it wasn't Eurylochus. Astanyax may or may not be alive i have not decided but he is probably dead.

Um yeah. I wanted to put my thoughts down because i will probably never like write anything for this, and if i do it wont be much.

Siren au is still my favorite and most important because i am invested in those little guys.

Pontus, the Greek Primordial God of the Seas, never made a humanoid form before, and talks as this disembodied voice in what can be described like a Deep Crashing wave/Eldritch Horror.

And he's mostly like, "CHILD OF THE ἸΌΝΙΟΣ WOULD YOU LIKE ME TO CAUSE ΠΟΣΕΙΔΆϜOΝΟΣ (POSEIDON) MINOR INCONVENIENCES?"

imagine Argos fucking hates the suitors. He senses the bad vibes and he growls and snaps at them at every opportunity. Several of the suitors have scars from being ‘nipped’.

imagine Odysseus disguising himself as a suitor, sneaking around, stealing weapons, and blending in with the other assholes during Hold Them Down

now imagine our favorite puppo making that super hard because he sees his master!! His owner is home, he hasn’t seen Ody since he was a puppy!! And now he’s old and slow but he’s damn happy to see his master, whether he looks homeless and is very stinky or not

imagine some of the other suitors wondering why the old king’s dog seems to like This One Rando so much, that he’s dancing around his legs like a fool, licking his scarred hands and sniffing his cloak obsessively, even as said Rando Suitor is trying to push him away between head pats

How about the "I heard today is telemachus birthday" Au

The suitors are actually nice, and just help penelope around with Telemachus and the kingdom

Odysseus is red with anger just to com home and everyone is helping penelope plan a birthday party to his son and helping her with ithaca while he is gone.

No bloodshed

And he gets to see penelope again and they have their emotional meeting.

The suitors are like

"SO THE KING IS ALIVE"

"I told you we should have belived the queen"

"Telemachus will be so happy to see you here"

"HEY, it became a legend that only you could string that old bow, since then everyohe tried but no one could do, can you show us?"

"Hey, let the king have a moment with his wife, they havent seen eachother in 20 years"

"Hey you two can have your moment alone, we will warn when we see your son boat on the horizon"

And then on their room

"What was that?"

"Oh yeah, telemachus' friends,they are pretty nice, they helped us around the palace."

And odysseus is like: ":0"

This came about from me having that song stuck in my head, being incredibly bored, listening to the Ithaca saga every day for like the past week and enjoying drawing Polites in pretty dresses too much and now theres crazy stuff going on like Odysseus being dead. :D

The Odyssey Modern AU: Christmas edition

For your consideration: the Odyssey but as a Hallmark Christmas movie where Odysseus travels to New York for work and is trying to get home to Hawaii?? (I needed a long domestic flight shhhhh it was either this or Vancouver to Newfoundland) in time for Christmas dinner with Penelope and Telemachus after missing it for the last 20 years straight

The Trojan War is some really big business venture or something that took literally forever for them to sign but they finally did it!!

Polyphemus keeps them after work threatening to get HR involved because they accidentally ate his lunch that he left in the fridge, Polites and some of his other coworkers get stuck there but Ody and the rest manage to escape the office

Athena is Odysseus' boss (and childhood friend) who told him to get everything done more efficiently so he could leave earlier but noooooo he didn't listen and guess who's cutting it close again

The wind bag: Aeolus (from another department, maybe distribution??) sends them home with snacks that they forget to declare and Poseidon the airport security guard sees them after Eurylochus opens the bag in the waiting area and pulls them into the security room until they miss their flight

Circe owns a local motel and wanted to kick them out because she doesn't trust so many dudes around her employees after past incidents, but her and Athena's mutual friend Hermes gives Odysseus some of her favourite tea as a peace offering and he tells her about his wife and kid and she's just like "fineeeeee okay you're a wife guy, I guess I can find you a room"

She calls them a taxi to the airport the next day and the driver Tiresias just keeps giving them ominous life advice and seems to know like... way too much about them and also they're not entirely sure he actually has his license

Odysseus gets a call from his mom like "where are you we're waiting for you" and he's like "I'm on my way home I promiseeeeeeeeee I'll be there this time"

The sirens are various sales reps at the airport

Scylla (baggage check employee) keeps some of them cuz their bags are too heavy so Ody and the rest head to the gate without them

Eurylochus brings snacks again (thinking Chicharron-style snacks, ones you're not supposed to bring on a plane) and Zeus detains them

The suitors are just the neighbourhours who bully Telemachus like "oooOOOOhhhhh ssuuuUUURrreee your dad is tOOOOtally gonna show up to Christmas this year" and making jokes about his mom

Athena (who did leave early and catch the original flight) scares them away and reassures Telemachus that his dad is on his way (while texting Odysseus "see I told you so")

She finds out Zeus is the one detaining them so she calls her dad like "please can you at least send Odysseus on his way, you literally know him, he's just a dumbass sometimes" so Zeus let's Odysseus go catch his flight but keeps the rest of them in security

Calypso is some lady he's seated next to on the plane who hits on him for the entire ten-hour flight

Poseidon, who got transferred to the other airport, recognizes Odysseus from before and pulls him into security again and Odysseus just rips into him until he lets him go

The neighbours are bullying Telemachus while he's out getting last-minute ingredients for dinner when some dude turns up and tells them off and threatens to get their parents so they all run off

Penelope's just like... "who are you and what have you done with my husband, how are you actually on time"

Insert sweet and sappy Christmas dinner with the entire family until Odysseus' sister goes "wait... where's Eurylochus?"

Eurylochus turns up at the door the next morning like "ODYSSEUS YOU MF I HAD TO CATCH ANOTHER FLIGHT-"
