My contribution to the Warrior Penelope AU(+a rough design I made up for Circe). I like the idea that Penelope and Circe are really good friends, and Circe comes to Ithaca from time to time.
Inspiration for this goes to @gigizetz and @vioofc Y'all are doing amazing and I can't wait to see more!

thinking about odysseus telling poseidon ”look what you’ve turned me into”.
thinking about the ruthlessness motif in monster. thinking about scylla telling odysseus “deep down, we’re lonely demons from hell”. thinking about how it was in the underworld that odysseus resigned himself to being a monster, a demon from hell. and he was in hell because of poseidon. thinking about how the gods tried to shape odysseus. athena wanted to make him a warrior, and he became one, while she became more true to her humanity. how circe wanted to make odysseus suffer but ended up seeing reason with him, pity, even. how zeus keeps presenting odysseus with choices intended to break him, but he never breaks.
how poesidon wanted to teach odysseus the mercy of ruthlessness, the wrath and power and necessity of ruthlessness - and odysseus learnt well. he offered poseidon reason, a chance at him humane mercy. poseidon fought back. he faced a new, godly mercy from odyssues, then
a man made monster. a manmade monster, shaped by the gods. or something like that

I love how the two most popular explanations to why eurylochus didn't go into circe's palace are "he's loyal to his wife" and "he's gay"
