I'm getting sick of the "Penelope's Spartan so she found Odysseus killing the suitors hot" or that she enjoys bloodshed because she's Spartan, and just people ignoring what she has gone through.

The suitors made her life hell. She's not really gaining anything through marrying one of them. They see her as a way to elevate their status and a woman they want in their beds. They disrespect her and take advantage of her hospitality, breaking the law of Xenia. They are a danger to Telemachus. She is told in the Odyssey that the suitors plot to murder her son and she breaks down.

If anything, Penelope would feel relief seeing the suitors gone and Odysseus being back. Like a weight had been lifted off her chest and she could breathe for the first time in 20 years since Odysseus had left.

She could be horrified by the idea of the slaughter but still feel glad they're gone. To reduce her to being Spartan, which she's not even from militaristic Sparta, just shows a lack of understanding of her character and just ignores the hardships she's gone through and her trauma.

Like I’ve dedicated so much time and so much effort into it and I’ve thought about it a lot and even though I never really had a plan for it and it kinda went off the rails, I still enjoyed writing it

It being my most popular fic kind of amazes me 😭😭😭 I get particularly shocked when people are like oh I was rereading it and im like really??? You’re rereading my fic??? This one, the one where odysseus whines and complains all the time??? The one where nothing really happens???

But at the same time I really wanna start writing new stuff but at the same time I don’t want it to end and Idk hahahahaa I’m in a mix of emotions

I started reading Op Pen a few days ago and I’m literally obsessed with the world you built. The way each character talks exactly like someone their age would, have their own unique voices, and bond with each other is incredible. I’ve never read a chat fic before but I love how you are able to convey certain things that happen irl through texts even when we can’t see them first hand. I’m on chapter 22 and I’m so excited to read the rest but also never want this to end

(Also I love your art of ody in the odyssey when they left him all alone, didn’t realize it was by the same person who wrote Op pen lol, you are multitalented ✨)
