So Shen Qingqiu's weird take on masculinity and homosexuality and his internalized homophobia means that he went "binghe's the stallion protagonist, of course he's the husband, so I must be the wife" and conversely Luo Binghe's been dreaming of being Shizun's beloved housewife since he was 14 and he's now living the dream.

I firmly believe that, consciously or not, they more or less take turns. Being called 'Wife' is a baton they pass back and forth as suits them.

When in Cang Qiong, Binghe takes the position of a Peaklord's spouse so seriously, he's going full Shimu and is so smug about getting to making people refer to him as such. Shen Qingqiu ofc would make sure Binghe gets the full rights and respect owed to him as Shen Qingqiu's spouse, but is still too thin faced to refer to Binghe as wife anywhere other than in private.

Luo Binghe does not share this problem when they're in the Demon realm. Visiting demonic dignitaries learn about Shen Qingqiu being Luo Binghe's wife before they learn his name, before they learn that he's a cultivator of a level that fucking with him is dangerous aside from the fact that Binghe would kill you for looking at him wrong. Before they learn that that human cultivator might kill you for looking at the Emperor wrong. In private, though, Binghe's acting about the name as he does on Qing Jing, but the ways he gets to show his shizun off are different between the roles.

Externally, to everyone else, it almost looks like code switching. But to them its just them doing what they want. Which is mostly Shen Qingqiu letting Binghe do as he pleases, which is often Binghe doing his best to make it clear that he belongs to Shen Qingqiu, and vice versa.

I often think about how gross it is the way we’ve normalized kids hating school. Like to the point of fear and avoidance. “Lol he’s pretending to be sick to stay home.” “She was so happy it was a snow day she jumped for joy.” “Hahaha he’s hiding under the bed to avoid going.”

It’s... It’s not funny. It’s actually really gross the way we make kids sit a desk all day to be force fed dry as hell information and make them ask if they can use the bathroom, for 7-8 hours a day. 5 days a week and then go home with oppressively unfair amounts of homework.

And then we laugh - we LAUGH - at how much they hate it. It’s become a cultural touchstone. To shake our heads and chuckle while kids try to scheme ways to get out of it.

That’s… That’s bad.

And then we ask adults to do the same with work.

i run a different sort of blog that is exclusively audio and we make sure all our audio posts are normalized to a standard loudness (the same -23 LUFS used in international television broadcasting). we still get random people deciding that some of our audio needs a "loudness warning" and the only thing i can conclude here is there's a certain genre of tumblr user who simply always has their volume cranked up too high and there's no value in having specific loudness warnings on posts. it may be for the best to just tag "#loudness warning" on all your posts and let it be done with. love the blog!

I appreciate this, thank you! My volume is always fairly low and I had considered trying to stabilize them but it was just a bit too much to add to my current workflow for something thats a hobby of mine.

I'll always do my best to accomodate folks on this blog if I can but sometimes turning the volume down is the best option!

I also reccomend grabbing one of the various firefox/extensions that offer a volume slider to the volume on audio posts for this site! I always turn it down to about half ways before listening to anything and that usually helps me!

I have a theory/ headcanon for why Chilchuck was so comfortable tossing around half-foot Marcille during the first changeling situation, despite HATING that kind of treatment himself and being an advocate against the infantilization of half-foots.

Chilchuck mentions that if Marcille is going to age like a half-foot, she has less than 40 years. Specifically mentioning she has less than 40 years left suggests she's somewhere in her teens as a half-foot. Assuming her equivalent tall-man age is 20, she'd be 16 as a half-foot. Which just so happens to be about how old Meijack and Flertom are.

So my theory/ headcanon is that Chilchuck got solid confirmation that Marcille is the same maturation as his daughters at the same time as her struggling to cope with her new body in both mundane and combat situations so his dad instincts take over and he starts treating her with the same familiarity he'd treat his daughters if they were struggling/ putting themselves in danger.

Not to bring up more Bad News, especially since we're already drowing in it in the first month of the year, but in Seattle it's January and we still haven't had our first real frost of the year yet, which is Not a good sign!!

We've have some light frost just from the typical cold air falling to the ground but no sustained sub-0°C temps. When the nasturtiums are all still alive in the PNW there is something very wrong
