Six(ish) Sentence Sunday
I’ve been trying to work out a concept for a witchy one-shot and I think I’ve finally have something to write… now I need to flesh it out..
“You’re right Prim, He’s cute!” Madge proclaims, eyes fixed on her gazing ball.
A blush creeps across Katniss’s cheeks; luckily the pair of blonds perched in the corner of her room take no notice, too engrossed in the image in the orb. Katniss had refused to check in on her date, but her friend has no such qualms; Neither does her traitorous sister who had provided Madge the necessary information to spy on Peeta.
“He cooks too,” Prim squeals. “It looks like he’s packing a picnic!”
Madge catches Katniss’s eyes reflected in the vanity mirror, “and you’re really certain you want to sabotage your date?”
#six(ish) sentence Sunday#snippet sunday#in the interest of full disclosure#it’s really more like a rom com#but there are witches sooooo#spooky season#everlark snippet#witchy AU#witch!Katniss

they really weren't kidding about the rom-com vibes in this season.
#*carly catalogs#bridgerton#bridgerton s3#no offense but they've said that in the past two previous seasons and sorry i did not get any rom-com vibes from s1 or s2#but then again it took me a little while longer to get into this show cause i'm not gonna lie i hated s1#idk how to explain it but something about both simon and daphne's characters book and show really pissed me off for some reason??#like... i don't like them at AAALLLLL#and i found their love story to be the least bit romantic (out of the 8)#and initially i wasn't gonna watch s2 cause of how much i didn't like s1 but the beautiful gifmakers on here got me#i enjoyed s2 sooooo much more#but THIS???!!!!!!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!#THIS#THIS IS SOME OF THE MOST HEART MELTING ROMANTIC SHIT I HAVE EVER!!!! SEEN!!!!!!!#it especially felt like one when....#cressida was explaining to lord debling that colin and pen have been friends since the featherington's moved across the street from them#oh wow would you look at how much i rambled 😳#but i can't help it that friends to lovers is MY bread and butter#colin bridgerton#penelope featherington#polin#otp: you are special to me

did my annual christmas love actually rewatch and emma thompson's line to alan rickman after she confronts him for cheating on her and he says "i've been such a fool" and she says 'but you've made the life i lead look foolish too"
made me think of how i imagine obi-wan would feel if anakin came clean about his marriage to him while still carrying on pretending to be a jedi while flagrantly disregarding aspects of the code that obi-wan has personally always struggled and pushed himself to adhere to despite the heartache it's given him -- meanwhile anakin sees no problem being both a jedi and married/attached
#obikin#because tbh all my ideas/fics with anidala is just like 'feels like infidelity because obi-wan'#anyway my friend and i agreed that love actually is a worldclass eh movie#but with such a famous cast that it really was liek#the avengers 2012 when it came out#the avengers of rom coms lol#and all these actors are doing the absolute most#and there are occasional lines that hit#more than the occasional workplace harassment tho#so much workplace harassment

I get why people don't like the "list of tropes" method of recommending/advertising/describing a novel, but it's weird to me that it's so popular to say "this tells me nothing about the plot" when the recc/blurb/whatever contains things like "enemies to lovers" (i.e., a type of plot). Maybe it's from reading 20 Master Plots as a kid, or from keeping a spreadsheet of romance novels for the last fourteen years, but if someone tells me "this is a revenge story" or "this is a marriage-of-convenience romance novel," I'm like, okay, yeah, I know the extremely bare bones of what this is. The problem is that I usually want more context to go with that very basic plot description. Why is it convenient for these characters to get married? What's their deal going in? What's the time period?
#like a really early example of this frustration that i saw#was applied to someone saying 'this book is about gay people in space! what more could you want?'#and it's like. yeah. i do not know what's going to happen in that story at all#also i have little interest in these new rom-com romance novels#but sometimes i read the back of them#and if you read the whole description it's just like#'this lady is a competitive mini-golf player and this guy is a blacksmith at some colonial williamsburg type of place'#'they mildly dislike each other because of a spat over a tabletop RPG game'#'but now the only way she can get better at mini-golf and he can afford to send his niece to space camp is to find...a buried treasure?'#like i don't really wanna read that but i know what it is

I'm sorry, but "Nobody Wants This" is not only nowhere remotely near being on the same level as "Fleabag", it's also just...not good in general, for a wide variety of reasons.
#i'm sorry but nothing makes me become a hater more than everyone loving on a show that i. personally. hated.#like... it was billed as a rom com#but where was the COM(edy) part????#there was literally almost NOTHING FUNNY in it#Fleabag made me laugh so hard i wondered if i got a stomach hernia. i was in actual PAIN after watching it#and it wasn't even really a comedy!#most instances of (attempted) humor in NWT were just very lousy attempts at culture clash humor and little else#and culture clash humor can be great. this just was not#there are so many examples that were unfunny/boring at best and flatly stupid at worst#but if i got into all that we'd be here all day#nobody wants this#fleabag

yeah that was definitely the best rom com i've seen in years
#i'm kind of picky with rom coms like i don't tend to like them if they feel forced (beyond the rom com tropey way) but if i like them i#really like them#and i was very pleasantly surprised by isi & ossi#i think it's that there's enough other things going on in their lives we know more about them as people beyond the romance elements#there's a whole coming of age thing#but that's still integrated plot wise into the romance#also there isn't too much As You Know dialogue writing like!#it's just a well constructed rom com that knows it's a rom com but will have fun on the way#very like... ten things i hate about you vibes?

I like it when old people have romance plots in media. Divorced parent gets a new partner and their child loves them. Widow re-marries and finds happiness with their new spouse. Old gays finally able to have their dream wedding and live their lives openly. Elders finding love in a nursing home found-family style. Just. People older than 30 falling in love and having fulfilling relationships is what I mean. Because all I see ever is divorce plots and grief and loneliness because apparently you can only ever be happy and have fun as a teen/young adult. The moment you hit a certain age you stop being elegible for the role rom-com protagonist. It's a little discouraging tbh. I want to see that change.
#What I mean to say is. We need more shows like Grace and Frankie. There I said it.#A while ago I watched a few episodes out of order because my mom really likes it and she was binging it#And I wasn't really paying that much attention to it#But I thought it was sweet. Like genuinely. These people are having struggles with their relationships yes.#They have children. Grandchildren. They have struggles.#But it's still a rom-com. It's all lighthearted and focused of the unlikely friendship of these women#After having their lives shaken by the revelation that their life partners are actually gay#And also there's Jewish representation. Idk if it's good. But listen.#I'm just happy old people got their well-deserved silly plot with silly overly convoluted love triangles and online dating#AND ITS ALL SO UPBEAT!!#Anyway#queer#Also queerplatonic relationships pog#Media#romance#Tehanu is a good book also. If you even care#It's not a comedy#But it's still very sweet. Everyone here is really sad and traumatized but they love each other so much. They had enough adventures#It's time to settle down. Adopt a child. Have a low-stakes plot. Falling in love. Found family.

I’m still trying to decide on what exactly I’m focusing on while writing my first book (which can either go nowhere or somewhere😭) but it’s so difficult
Cause I know it’s something I need to feel worth it to put in my energy.
Doing smth contemporary feels the easiest, but I also have drafts that are historical fiction or full on fantasy that I love, they’d just require a lot more work and research
if anyone wants to talk a lil about it with me that would be cool
#I don’t wanna give anything too much specific info but#I’m trying to just decide on the GENRE I wanna focus on first#I’m simultaneously working on two scripts too one is a suspense thriller and the other is like more comedic rom com esque but not really#idk#kit talks

something that I really liked about the movie was seeing book scenes from Henry’s pov. Like when he finds out that he was outed like in the book we obviously saw Alex’s side and it was as interesting to see things from Henry’s side as well as during the scene when Henry ghosts Alex for the 2nd time and in the movie it’s not us seeing Alex on the plane to go to London it’s us seeing Henry’s reaction to Alex being there I’m not that coherent right now as it’s super fucking late but yeah go watch if you haven’t it’s really fun
#it’s odd that they didn’t include June or rafael Luna as well as in the book the his parents are divorced#and rip bea we did not get a lot of bea#overall though i feel like it manages to tell the same story just in a different way#way if it was wat#i also kept thinking about the line from the books ‘dear thisbe how i wish there weren’t wall love pyramus’ and i do wish that was in the#movie#like i wish there were more book scenes in general but i also appreciate what we got?#overall though i really liked it it was fun and fuck knows we need a rom com after the angst in good omens 2 ifykyk#go watch both!#red white and royal blue

tragedy can be good, but not when it is out in there to be “”subversive”” and not because it makes sense in the story
I think we’re really mean to the word subversive. Being subversive is fine as long as you genuinely understand what you’re subverting and why you want to do that. Idk I think some people get really hung up on a ‘happy ending’ in some media where a tragic or bittersweet ending does actually fit the story 🤷🏼♀️
#there are a lot of kdramas i love that dont have a 100% happy ending#and people blame it on ‘bad writing’ but tbh the ending being that way narratively makes sense#jordan talks#answered asks#anon#im like half asleep and barely read that post also#im not trying to defend GOT or the magicians as far as im aware that was all bad writing#but ive never seen either#the gritty realism stuff was originally subversive to more happy less gritty stuff that preceded it#its more of a cycle than like. one or the other being the original i think idk#and i get it i really do im always chasing the rom com drama dopamine high

When ppl say that there is no stories about friendship I can't help but wonder what do they mean? There are lots and lots cartoons for kids and teens about well, friendship! Its the main point of almost all stories there. I don't like watching movies so I dunno if there are a lot of movies about friendship nowadays but I have watched old films about it. Like yeah it will always have some romance too for main characters or for the background characters bc if your story has like 10+ adult ppl most of them would look for relationship for the sake of building a family or sex. But also if you can excuse how the women are drawn you can just read/watch one piece and like NOBODY has any romance or sex there even though there are like billions of adult pirates.
#personal#if you want to recommend me something nice to watch comment it or drop me a message#but for the love of everything good pls dont recommend me school drama like I cant watch it anymore#i would prefer to watch more media about adults rn#I can make some exceptions like Hanako kun was really creepy like it looks like rom com for the teens in school but its actually horror#or Utena I started watching it and its crazy at the 1st episode already I want to learn more#but yeah I would like books or movies or tv shows about adults#I would like to watch something like Friends but good#like do u get what I mean? if it was Friends but it was actually really good and less THAT and like more GOOD#I really loved this tv show when I was learning English tho it was perfect for it but like they did so many bad choices for this story#i hate every story about Rachel's love life like its unbearable at this point you should just stop dating and forget about it and live#also they gradually made Ross into the most vile and evil man that could possibly exist and everyone was okay with it bc he is Monika's bro#they didn't need to make him into a monster asshole jerk like he could be just a nerd guy who is clumsy it would be alright#also they should have never made any story lines about Rachel and Ross like they are the worst couple that has ever existed on the tv#its the new level of abysmal I dream about how it would be cool if they have never had any relationship at all#this story would be like 999% better IMMEDIATELY but oh well

masterlist
That day, you made three mistakes.
First: talking about your problems in public. Second: letting slip how desperate you were. Third (the gravest mistake): locking gazes with none other than Lee Jeno.
He perked up when you yelled at Hwang Yeji, “I’ll have nowhere to go!”
The moment the words were out, your wide eyes met his amused ones. Jeno quirked an eyebrow and smirked, walking over to the booth you and Yeji were seated at.
“What’s this I hear about you needing a place to crash, Y/N?” he cooed, setting his cup of coffee on the table and sliding beside you.
You glared at him, frowning when the bare skin of his arm brushed against yours. Shifting away, you snapped, “None of your damn business, Lee. Quit eavesdropping and get out of here.”
Jeno’s smirk grew when he saw your discomfort. Throwing an arm around your shoulder, he pulled you against him. Your head smashed into his hard chest as he teased, “Now, now, is that how you treat your brother’s best friend?”
You narrowed your eyes and craned your neck to look at him. “That’s how I treat an egotistical bastard who doesn’t know basic manners.”
Jeno grinned at the insult, lightly bumping his forehead against yours. “You look so attractive right now.”
Heat rose to your cheeks, and you shoved him away, cursing loudly. He laughed at your flustered state, his eyes turning into small crescent moons.
This was Lee Jeno—a huge flirt who thought highly of himself due to the popularity he had gained as the star player of your university’s football team, and whose only personality trait was being ridiculously attractive.
