Ever felt like you have banger AU ideas or crossovers for fandoms but the moment you try to draw, write or explain it, it starts fizzing down?
Either due to fearing only makes sense to you, it’s hard to explain/express or you just don’t have the time? So then you just stop and it becomes like an afterthought.
It happens to me way too much, and I don’t have to time now to work on it. So here is a list of every idea I’ve ever had for a fandom that hasn’t been put into place. I really hope to work on these eventually. Spoiler, ideas are very out there.
Warning: the ideas with Red mean there are TW.
Wild Sekai - Wild Kratts x Project Sekai crossover where the bros suddenly get transported to that one grassy sekai with the Sekai Tree. This is due to a malfunction from the time trampoline (an excuse I use too much to transport the bros to a new dimension) and they meet Hatsune Miku. It was supposed to be a fanfic series where the bros would travel into the units’ sekais briefly, meet the Sekailoids but never actually meet the units themselves. It would start from Leo/need to Nightcord - The one I actually tried to write shit and got some of it down. However, they haven’t even met Miku yet in the story so far. I just really wanted to think of what the bros reactions would be in the different sekai, especially at WxS and 25ji.
WK “Normal”/Work AU - (TW: dark themes, coma, simulation, derealisation + depersonalisation, psychological stress). This is the newest one I literally thought of 2 days ago. I actually did make small doodles of this. It’s in a universe where the bros have like normal 9-5 jobs (that somehow switch different weeks). The only thing is that they’re constantly activated in their Creature Powersuits, which changes automatically to a different creature power every new day. The bros have no choice in what their activated as and are unable to deactivate. However, they see it as “normal” and believe it’s just a part of their very “normal” life. The bros also have a personality change. However in reality, they are living in a simulation. What’s actually happening is that their conscious is trapped in a simulation in order to keep them alive due to them being in a coma-like state from a very bad creature powersuit malfunction. And Aviva, Koki and Jimmy are monitoring them in real time as they work tirelessly to try and avert it. The malfunction is either due to Zach tampering with it during the later testing phases and fucking up big time or during the early phase when the safety protocol programming fails big time. Either way, Aviva is especially blaming herself big time and working herself to death to save them. Let me know if you wanna know more about this. ^^
WK VBS, WK WxS and WK L/N - you can see the recurring theme of my ideas mainly being crossovers. I can’t help it personally. Literally just the Tortuga crew in place of PJSK units. For VBS: Aviva as Kohane, Koki as An, Chris as Akito and Martin as Toya. For WxS: Martin as Tsukasa, Aviva as Emu, Koki as Nene and Chris as Rui. For L/N, Koki as Ichika, Martin as Saki, Aviva as Honami and Chris as Shiho (l/n is the one I’m most undecided on). And Jimmy is all the Sekailoids. Yes. All of them. And there are no current ones for MMJ or 25ji because I really have no idea who would fit best.
Lacka-Kratts - (TW: Gun violence and alcohol) literally just Lackadaisy x WK crossover. Basically, Martin and Chris somehow get swapped places with Rocky and Freckle. Aviva and the tortuga crew are shocked and trying to stay sane with Rocky’s antics. Meanwhile, the bros in 1927 - also in cat form - are with Ivy during what was supposed to be a bootlegging run and are trying not to get shot by the marigolds. (Basically, the pilot plot but replace Rocky and Freckle with the very confused bros who are too nervous to aim a gun at the enemies.)
WK Gas Station/Urban/idk they have clothes- Yeah I really don’t have a better name, it’s the story that counts. Oopsie, another creature powersuit malfunction. Except this one is a 100x less horrible as the bros are just stuck in the suits. No really bad shit. However, there is still bad shit as the tortuga is being hunted down by the CIA. Or whatever government organisation there is, idk my governments. Anyways, they are being hunted down for all the wrong reasons and have been wrongfully accused by the villain. The bros are in a forest near a gas station, somehow have no communication, and basically are trying to survive and get help from people to find the Tortuga (as the Tortuga crew are on the run). However, these people don’t recognise the Wild Kratts or Creature Powersuits, and are scared as the bros can’t describe. Chris is in a coyote powersuit, Martin is in the raccoon suit. Also, they find clothes and wear it. This AU literally sparked because I wanted them to have fashion while activated in the power suits.
Poke-Kratts - (yes, I don’t have better names atm) POKÉMON X WK!!! TORTUGA CREW (+villains later on) GET SENT TO THE POKÉMON WORLD. THEY GET POKEMON. YAY!!!
Pokémon but there are no trainers and Pokémon work jobs - (don’t have a title for this) Also, first idea with no WK. It is what the title is. Pokémon, act like people. This is way more personal to me as it focuses on my mons from my Pokémon Sword play through. Mainly my Lucario named Rei and my Cinderace named Dasher (but in this AU, he is Damien). Rei is like an IT guy, Damien is a professional soccer player. And they are gays roommates.
Pokémon Sword - literally just my Sword team and normal Pokémon universe, except I give my mons ✨personality ✨. Also Dasher is named Dasher here.
Lackadaisy x Showtime - I actually did draw this one a while back. Remember when Rui made a MOTHERFUCKING TIME MACHINE in the Petit Sekai episode? Well, he made an oopsie and the machine accidentally sent WxS back in time to 1927s St Louis. And they are cats for some reason
And that’s that akshanjsnjshs. I really needed to get my thoughts out.
I need to work on National Science Week stuff now.

personally i am of the opinion that since 2d chris and martin are clearly fictional, separate versions from their real-life counterparts (though the animated kratt bros are indisputably tied to the real ones), shipping them with other characters in the show isn't weird AS LONG AS those other characters are in no way tied to real people themselves. shipping pairings between even fictional versions of two real people is where things can get a little weird/messy, since that has a potential to impact those real people and their relationships. if zach or whatever other character were the self-insert of a real person my opinions on shipping that character with one of the bros would be way different, but since only chris and martin are self-insert-type characters, i see no issues with shipping them with their friends or the villains
i kinda view shipping as just One Of Those Fandom Things that happens to fictional characters, on par with things like making headcanons or redesigns. like, if someone started making headcanons about a real person, or were to redesign that real person to have, say, piercings or different hair or an altered personality, it gets a little weird. if someone does those things with fictional characters, though, it's no big deal. same thing with shipping. the animated kratt brothers are, again, fictional, and i think it's okay to treat them as such as long as the real kratt brothers are being respected
of course, if the real brothers ever were to express discontent with any sort of shipping, that's another matter. while 2d chris and martin are fictional characters, them being tied to real people means that if those real people don't want something done to their character, shipping or headcanons or redesigns or whatever, those wishes should be respected. i wouldn't doubt that chris and martin are at least somewhat aware of people shipping characters (i mean even a lot of younger fans end up thinking of chris and aviva, for example, as a pairing, and that's been going on since 2011), and my guess is that they don't care. no one is shipping these characters with the real kratt brothers (i'd hope) and so i highly doubt any of that would affect them
tl;dr as long as people aren't being weird or disrespectful in any way about shipping, i think it's chill. these characters are fictional and can be treated as such as long as the real-life kratt brothers are being respected

Sinking in the Deep End
The "Whale of a Squid" episode, but angstier...
The Kratt brothers were witnessing the ultimate battle between a giant squid and a sperm whale, a never-before-seen creature moment.
"This is unbelievable!" Chris exclaimed from excitement.
"We have to get footage!" Martin pulled out his creaturepod, but just as he was about to film, the two enormous animals suddenly bumped into the Amphi-Sub, shooting them through the water before coming to a stop, far away from the combat.
They groaned as they got up from the floor, then Chris' creaturepod started ringing. He answered the call to find Aviva and Koki's worried faces.
"Are you guys alright?" Aviva asked.
"Yeah, we're good," Martin rubbed his head while giving a thumb up, forcing a chuckle.
Suddenly, Chris felt his boot getting wet, and when he looked down, his eyes widened at the sight of...WATER!
He panically looked up to find a big whole in the end of the wall, water pouring inside like a waterfall. This was bad, really bad.
"Oh no!" Chris pointed at the damage, Martin gasping at the situation. "We need to get back to the surface, and fast!" He let out, trying to hide his panic.
"I'm on it!" Chris rushed to the sub controls and started pressing various buttons before pulling the levers... But nothing happened, they remained in their spot, unmoving.
"Uh oh," Chris swallowed.
"What do you mean uh oh?" Martin couldn't hide his panic anymore.
"I have no controls, must've been lost in battle. We're sinking!" Chris' voice cracked as they felt themselves sinking deeper and deeper into the water.
"Fifteen meters until collapse step. Fourteen. Thirteen..." Koki started the countdown, her voice filled with fret.
"Why would the sub collapse if they go deeper?" Jimmy asked anxiously, genuinely clueless.
"It's the pressure."
"What pressure?"
"The water pressure," she then pointed at the screen, showing a 2D sub sinking much like the brothers', "the deeper the sub goes, the more water is on top, the heavier that water gets, pushing in on the sub. That's pressure." The sub on the screen was getting crushed by an arrow pushing down on it. "If there's too much water weight pushing down on the sub, or pressure, the sub will be crushed!" The sub got completely crushed by the arrow, leaving Jimmy frozen with panic as to what might happen to the brothers.
"Gotta pull them outta there!" Without a moment to lose, Aviva pulled out a remote and pressed its button hard, sending her robot arm to fish the brothers out of their misery, before it was too late.
It was dark. It was scary. It felt hopeless.
The Kratt brothers sucked tightly into the corner of the sub, water still pouring in.
Chris was breathing shakily. He suddenly felt a hand squeeze his shoulder, and looked up to meet Martin's eyes, who forced a sad smile. "Hey."
"Hey." Chris' voice sounded as though he had a sore throat. But the soreness wasn't there, it was on the inside.
Silence, broken only by the ever-lasting burble.
The water level reached their hips.
"I can't believe this is how it ends," Chris scoffed from self-pity.
All the adventures they could've gone on. All the creatures they could've met. Gone.
They both winced at the sub giving up to the water pressure, beginning to crush under its weight.
"Don't say that, bro. At least we had a good run," Martin said in an attempt to cheer up his hopeless brother. Though, he couldn't even convince his own self.
Sniff. Sniff.
Without warning, Chris' eyes began to well with tears of pain. Martin couldn't bear the sight, unaware of his eyes forming tears of their own.
"Chris, look at me." He lifted his brother's chin, and their watery eyes met. "We started this journey together, and we will finish it together."
More tears flew down from Chris' eyes now, before shoving his face in his brother's chest and breaking into sobs, arms wrapped tight around him, so tight that it made him gasp. But he said nothing, and simply returned the sorrowful hug.
The Amphi-Sub kept getting crushed by the pressure.
The water level reached their necks.
"I'll miss you," Chris said weakly.
"Me too," Martin whispered in his ear.
At last, the water level reached their heads.
Both brothers held their breaths as they held onto each other. They were so deep that light was nearly inexistent. In the darkness, they squeezed each other's hands, despite no longer being able to see one another, their last tears amalgamating with the water.
Finally, they succumbed to their fate.
The instant Aviva's robot arm reached the tip of the sub, they let out their breaths, their lungs filling with water faster than she could say-
"I got them!"
She quickly pulled a lever, and the robot arm immediately started rising back up to the surface, the sub in its grip.
Nothing but complete darkness.
But then, a sudden pressure on the chest made them feel more alive than ever, followed by strange indistinct noises. No. Voices, growing more familiar by the second.
"Keep up the compressions, Koki!" Aviva's voice resonated in their heads.
"I'm doing the best I can," Koki's voice echoed in turn.
"I hope it's not too late," they heard Jimmy say with a trembling voice.
Next thing they new, they were coughing out water. A lot of water. The pain was indescribable, but pain meant they were alive. Alive.
"Yes!" Aviva cried.
Through their vague vision, the only thing they were able to distinguish were three blurry shapes, agitating in front of their half-opened eyes. The voices slowly started fading away.
Then, darkness reigned once again...
Some time later, maybe even hours, they started coming back to the world of living, somehow at the same time.
They turned their achy heads toward each other, only to find that they were both lying in their beds, within the safety of the Tortuga. Home sweet home.
Their tired eyes met. All the trauma from earlier felt like a smack in the face.
Not a single word came out from neither of their mouths, but their weak smiles spoke more than a thousand words ever could. They saw their whole lives flashing before their eyes, they nearly had to say goodbye to each other, nearly lost each other, but they didn't. And even after a near death experience of such, they would never give up creature adventuring, because that's what makes them what they are, it's who they are.
They are the Kratt brothers, and they will stick together until the very end.
Eventually, they closed their eyes with two quivering sighs of pure relief, allowing themselves to get some much needed rest, now that they were by each other's side, finally safe and sound.

HTTYDToME
(aka the-fanaddict gets sapppppyyyy)
HTTYD1 released when I was 10. I wasn’t as big as an animation nerd back then as I am now. I did not grow up on cable, (PBSkids for life!!) and my family was more connected with Hindi language films. My dad is a Pixar fan so we’d watch mainly Pixar movies. I didn’t grow up with the Disney princesses either.
So overall, animation wasn’t exactly a huge thing for me comparatively.
It was no surprise that I wasn’t really interested in the HTTYD at first. I saw the occasional promos in 2010, and for some very odd reason my 10 year old mind thought it was a princess movie??
Anyways fast forward to April 2013. I was 14 years old and had been lurking around anonymously Tumblr with the Wild Kratts fandom for 2 years (I love animals and the Kratt Bros!) and quite a few people in that fandom were also into the Rise of The Brave Tangled Dragons crossover as it had been popular at the time. It intrigued me because the only movie I watched from those four was Tangled (I caught the ending on TV one day and I adored it).
Eventually, I saw more posts about HTTYD. Two very interesting things caught my eye: Stoick cradling Hiccup at the end of HTTYD1 and Hiccup losing a leg. It really surprised me how daring that was, to have a main character, in an animated movie nonetheless, lose a limb. On top of that, sequel news was beginning to spread and I noticed how the characters are aged up.
I finally decided to give the movie a try. That fateful July (7??) I watched the movie. I still remember how amazing and spellbinding that first experience was. One particular moment that still stays with me to this day is how I bobbed my head up and down to the end of Forbidden Friendship. It was such a moment of wonder for me: Hiccup trying not to step on Toothless’ drawing, John Powell’s wonderful music swelling in the background, and me dancing in bed. It truly was a spellbinding moment.
After that moment, I was hooked. No turning back. I watched the movie a second time with my brother the very next day, and then a third time with my cousin the day after. After that, the teaser for HTTYD2 was released. I was very excited. I soon immersed myself in everything HTTYD: I watched all the shorts, caught up with Riders of Berk, read the books, and kept myself up to date with the fandom.
I also begun to play piano. I listened to the soundtrack and really enjoyed John Powell’s amazing themes. HTTYD brought me amazing music and kickstarted my hobby in piano. I also begun to experiment with my art style. I’ve always love to draw. One of the reasons why I ended up active on the internet was to get inspiration from different artists online. As I drew more, my art style improved.
Time went by and HTTYD2 came along. I absolutely adored it.
And thus began the long wait until HTTYD3. It was through this time period where I begun to explore more animation. I was so impressed with HTTYD I wanted to see more hidden gems. I immersed myself into different animated shows and movies such as Steven Universe, Gravity Falls, Trollhunters, The Book of Life, The Iron Giant, Big Hero 6, Into The Spiderverse and so much more! While I may have gotten more involved with other fandoms, I never did drift too away from HTTYD. Partially because the TV-Series was still going on.
I also watched many making-of videos. Animated movies fascinated me. The process, from story boarding, to the voice acting, to the cg - animation/2D styles, everything was so interesting. There is so much animation can do and how many different stories can be told with different animation styles. Animation became my dream job, and even though I never pursued animation, it is still my dream job.
This is what Httyd is to me. It was the gateway to the wonderful world of animation. It was also my escapist world. The amount of worldbuilding and character and heart that went into this franchise made the experience so immersive. It’s sad to let go of this franchise, but all good things must come to an end. I don’t think I will ever find something as heartfelt and immersive as httyd. Thank you Chris Sanders, Dean Deblois, Cressida Cowell, John Powell and everyone behind this amazing franchise.

Enough time has passed to where I think we can openly admit how WK has gone through seasonal rot within its previous 2 seasons and how the hype of Season 7 along with the generally positive reception is a really green flag for the show's quality.

S7 Spoilers (in general for the new eps)
I think what surprised me the most about these new episodes is that none of them featured Paisley in them, but none of them really suffered from her absence. I know a good portion of people, myself included, were expecting at least one of the new episodes to follow up on the Paisley arc, especially with the loose ends surrounding the other villains & Rex, but it makes sense why they wouldn't do that immediately to allow a breather from the special and to keep the show from getting too plot heavy.
If they could make such a huge writing decision early on in the new season that changes the trajectory of the entire show, and make episodes afterwards that can stand well on its own merits without acknowleding said twist, they are doing something right. Like I said, the bar has been raised, and once we do get a follow-up episode with Paisley and Rex, I will be anticipating it.

Wild Kratts is like that one toxic ex: They leave us and make us wait for years on end with 0 predictability in mind and when they come back, we instantly cling back onto them hoping we never let them go. /j

🛐🕯Manifesting that the Wild Kratts movie is based off of Habitat Rescue bc the dramatic potential, high stakes conflict, edutainment and nostalgia that would ensue - *chef's kiss* Gourmand would approve of such high quality of a recipe 🕯🛐
