ahsoka adapting to sabine was a really good scene imo
very reminiscent of tcw when anakin would also learn via listening to ahsoka

a parallel i’ve been thinking a lot about lately is the “needed a parent, but ended up with an older sibling” dynamic that exists between anakin, qui gon, & obi wan and che’ri, thrawn, & thalias
anakin & che’ri both didn’t have a strong paternal figure when they were really little, but found one when they were like 9/10, in qui gon & thrawn respectively. but then those people were taken from them all too soon (by either death or exile) and the person that was left, obi wan & thalias, still cared for their young charges a great deal & would do anything they could to protect & support them, but both of them are still growing up too and will never be able to replicate that parent/child dynamic & exist more as siblings. we get to see more of that play out with anakin & obi wan since we get to see them at various stages of life and only have earlier stages of life of che’ri & thalias in canon right now
all of these relationships are so much more complex than just this, but this has really been activating my “it’s like poetry, it rhymes” senses this week

Henry is a reflection of Joel more than ever. He’s a protecter, a calcified caretaker, the sole embodiment of a man who’ll put the one person he cares about over everything. Henry was willing to indirectly kill who he perceived as a “great man” for the sole benefit of ensuring the good health of his brother. Nothing could substitute the love he had for Sam, and no moral boundary could obstruct the insurmountable desire and determination to cement his well-being. Joel will end up the exact same way for Ellie. Henry’s also a cautionary tale that serves as a warning for the forces he’ll anger, and that what goes around comes around. The past came back to haunt Henry due to the decision he made. To him, the world did revolve around Sam. He did think he was worth everything, and he was willing to sacrifice anything or anyone for him. Joel will end up the exact same way for Ellie. And because of the choice Henry made, one way or another, that retroactively sealed his fate. Joel will end up the exact same way. This iteration of Henry in the show is the epitome of Joel; nearly verbatim. And the series of events that transpired because of the choice he made for the person he cared for forewarns him

Thinking about it and episode one starts with various knights searching the kingdom for the heirs to the throne who are both just kinda messing around with their crushes. Which is wonderful. The gossip between soldiers could literally be:
Soldier 1: oh yeah I’m being sent to the cliffs to look for the heir who’s messing about with their girlfriend instead of getting ready for the big important going to change the politics of both our kingdoms dinner tonight
Soldier 2: I’m being sent to the western woods to do exactly the same thing

Ezra’s Lightsaber
Tumblr media
There has been much discussion about Sabine Wren wielding Ezra Bridger’s lightsaber in the Ahsoka series. Rebels fans already know that Ezra has loaned his saber to Sabine to defend herself before, so we aren’t surprised to see this once again.
Tumblr media
What is surprising to some is that the footage from the Ahsoka series seems to indicate that Sabine has modified Ezra’s lightsaber in some way, perhaps using her engineering skills to improve the weapon.
Tumblr media
Another observation is that Ezra was wearing his saber on his belt when he recorded this holographic message. In the Rebels series finale, Ezra left his weapon with Chopper before surrendering himself to Thrawn. Sabine received the lightsaber from Chopper in the final battle, which was probably what Ezra intended all along. He left his lightsaber with her because he knew he would be leaving and she would keep it safe until they met again.
In the time they were apart Sabine improved the weapon, not just because she is gifted with developing weapons technology, but also as a gesture of love for the saber’s owner, which reminds me of someone else who did this very same thing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We know Anakin Skywalker loves to tinker with technology, but in The Clone Wars final story arc, Anakin gave Ahsoka the lightsabers he modified for her as a gift of pure love.
Perhaps Sabine will return Ezra’s lightsaber to him in a similar manner.

The thing I love about Alphabet Squadron is how it seems to be a companion piece to Andor, while it has matching tones, Andor is about the people who are burning their lives for sunrises they never get to see, Alphabet Squadron is about the people who are waking up in the first time in years to see the sun rise and now with the light of the day upon them they have to figure out what to do with their lives

i love how the writers made spock tell both t’pring and chapel that they “know him well” in the same ep despite him acting like entirely different people with both of them. they really said nuh-uh this ain’t it.

Parallels.
Or
Seeing Patterns in Things that Aren’t There
Part 13
Moon Gods and Red Planets.
1. The Nixonverse: A Monument Mythos Story (2022)
“Their sacrifice will make me realise that I can never risk setting foot on Earth either. The closest I will ever be to your world is right here, on the moon.” - The Moon God/Richard Nixon
2. Watchmen (1986-1987)
“I am tired of Earth. These people. I am tired of being caught up in the tangle of their lives.” - Dr Manhattan.
I’ll admit this is more of a surface-level similarity. But I don’t doubt that the similarities that are there were intentional on Alex/Mister Manticore’s part.
In my mind at least…
Feel free to reblog this.

One man describing the cost of fighting against the Empire as living with sleeplessness, sunlessless, peacelessness. Knowing he won’t live to see any of what he believes in actually come true, but giving up any chance of the freedom his status may afford him in the hope he might earn greater freedom for others.
And another burning away any chances of holding onto the small measure of security and privilege earned after year upon year of suffering and loneliness. Clinging on by the barest of margins simply to stay sane and alive only to stand and watch while others leap to their freedom, unable to join them because he can’t swim.
