Mon-El came back exactly a year before. Kara and Mon-El were going to celebrate with a dinner at home, and later, they would’ve gone to a pub with the rest of their friends; he was making a special dinner, of course. When she came back home, he was already jumping between the stove and the cabinets with a huge smile on his face. “Hey, baby.” “Hey, babe. Happy however-we-should-call-this-anniversary!” Mon-El chuckled, “Happy reunion anniversary to you too.” She smiled leaning in for a sweet kiss. “What are you cooking?” “Some of our favorite meals, but I won’t-“ “If you’re saying you’re not gonna tell me what’s in those pots and pans, there’s no need, I can already tell from the smell.” Mon-El faked disappointment, “Oh no! My surprise is ruined!” “Shut up, you idiot.” They laughed in sync, “I was thinking, am I supposed to dress up now or later, after we finish eating?” “It’s better if you don’t ruin your clothes with sauce, so..” “Right.” “I’m almost done here, why don’t you turn on the stereo and put on some nice music?” “Sure.” Kara grinned, Mon-El had never lost his romantic ways, actually, being apart for such a long time, made him even more romantic, like those guys you read about in books and see in sappy movies. But he was never too cheesy, he was just..sweet, perfectly sweet. And Kara felt extremely grateful to have such an amazing man by her side. Mon-El took her delicate hand in his, sliding the ring on her finger, the diamond had like a shade of blue that reminded him of the precious eyes he had missed for a while; he kissed her hand and mirrored the huge smile on his fianceé’s face. “Mon-El, you’re shaking!” “I was so nervous, I- I can’t believe that this is happening.” “I’m completely speechless, I love you.” “Do we have to go to the pub with the others? I have my notes on my phone and in it are about 807 entries ranging from random shit like a single word “zoo” with no context or explanation. Entire novels that I was writing and gave up on the last chapter, also conversations with no context between characters that I made up that have no names. Also, recipes for stupid things like Mac and cheese balls, ideas for artwork/stories/products. Essentially nothing is finished. I also have around 10 sketchbooks that have never been completed.

It’s name is Chicky and it’s actually I think supposed to be a stuffed duck, but I was 2 so I called it Chicky. Fun fact, my mom and everyone would ask me if Chicky was a a boy or a girl because I would call it he and she interchangeably and usually just Chicky. And my response would always be. “It’s just Chicky” and then they would ask “but is it a boy or girl?” And my three year old self was just like “??? Are you not paying attention? It’s a Chicky” so yeah I was fighting gender normatively at a young age, I was a pretty woke 3 year old.

Who is your hero? I don’t really have one IRL. The closest thing I guess would be my husband because he takes care of everything when I can’t even get out of bed, let alone get a job and contribute. My celebrity hero is Randy Owen.

If you could live anywhere, where would it be? Two years ago I would have said Nashville or central Texas but knowing now how hard it is to be away from home and how badly I want to go back, I’m just gonna say Bradford. It may be a shithole, but it’s my shithole and it’s where all my people are. If I didn’t have this late-onset separation anxiety I’d still love to move down south. Just gonna have to settle for visiting there more often.

What is your biggest fear? Missing out on my current family’s lives and never having a family of my own.

What is your favorite family vacation? I’ve only ever been on one vacation and other than finally seeing the Country Music Hall of Fame it wasn’t that great.

What would you change about yourself if you could? My psoriasis. Which, if I could fix that, I could fix the other thing I want to change: my weight. But right now it hurts too much to even walk most days.
