i finally did it.
after almost 60 entire hours of gameplay... and numerous mental breakdowns...
i completed brothership. and BOY do i have far too many thoughts.

#i didnt expect me. a 15yo. to complete such a long game in one piece#YET I PERSISTED#the story. the characters. the complex level design. EVERYTHING about this game was near PERFECT#dont trust me when i say this cuz this is the only game ive ever actually played in this series... but this is my absolute favorite#out of all the games. 10/10 totally recommend#even when im the one making the phsycological horror. the peachs castle scene TERRIFIED me#this game fuels my angst tendencies to the point of no return#and oooooh im gonna milk it enough alright#connie is such a calm collected sweetheart. the bros must adopt her#technikki is well... smart#fuck you tho adaphne. get out of my sight#chilliam and burnadette are cliche but are absolutely one of my favorite mario couples#the extension corps being jackasses and then deciding to do good was a nice touch#cozette is just me#reclusa including his weeping forms is just a silly adhdfilled toddler vibe#oh yeah snoutlet is cocky in the best of ways. i promise ill never call u a pig again js give me back my family#groovemaster dyude and emmit must marry and thats a DEMAND#mario is chill and caring. luigi is a dumbass genius incarnate#the great conductor is there i guess. was a cool fact about snoutlet and had the best bros attack#speaking of bros attacks and bros moves i loved every one of them. theyre all so creative and have their own charms#i wish they brought back firebrand and thunderhand but oh well i guess we got mix-max vortex and zapperator in their places#i think i have so much more to say but i forgor#js. wow. #okay random story time i don't know why im narrating this or how i even stumbled upon this memory rn#but i generally do sad vents in the tags and for a change this is a funny one#so back in highschool (i say highschool but i mean junior college) i used to visit this park near my house a lot#i was an sg kid back then and the thing about parks there is that they're kinda beach-parks and they have the best cycling/running tracks#they're also really massive parks so i used to go often. sometimes bicycling. other times walking. yeah. the park was like my sanctuary#anyway. there are quite a few bike rental areas in the park and there was a cute lil shop next to this one particular rental place#and they sold like biscuits and water and icecreams and stuff and i went there a lot#and on one particular day i went there and there was this guy around my age part timing at that shop#now again this might be culture specific bc i dont see it in india but part timing in uni/pre-uni is pretty common is sg#a lot of shops and restaurants employ teenagers to twenty something ppl for part time jobs... anyway im just adding context#point is that i had walked to the park with my mum that day and she told me to go buy a couple icecreams so i went to the shop#and i saw this guy around my age and like. not to be a simp but this dude was so pretty?#like he saw someone had come to the counter so he looked up and shot a smile and i thought i got slapped by sunlight#i could spend the next several lines going on about his pretty tan skin and his glowing raven eyes but this is pathetic enough so ill stop#anyway he saw me and smiled really wide (customer service smile- i thought to myself) and i smiled back and asked for icecreams or whatever#and then this guy started getting chatty right. so he was all 'you come here (to the park) often right? ive seen you with your bike a lot'#see now. the problem with me is that i always think im bothering people. this poor dude was attempting to make conversation#and i was replying with one word answers#and i wasn't even realizing that he didnt want that. bc he kept asking more questions and i. kept. shutting them down.#then when he gave me the icecream he was all 'are you here alone? icecream alone is no fun... i could keep you company if you want..?'#which. he was being really cute about right. but because im so fucking dense i was all 'oh no i came with my mom actually'#and he went 'aw man' in this really cute but faux sad way which i didnt understand at the time and i left and then#after three full fucking days. i realized this man was tryna hit on me?#and then i went to the park like a week later and he was gone. poof. i even thought of asking the uncle in charge of that place#then i got too embarrassed and chickened out#yeah so turns out my neurodivergence neutralizes any sort of rizz that comes my way#i could've been chilling with a cute boyf rn but no😩 this is my destiny#megumi in the tags

My message to people with celiac is really just eat more Asian food. Like aside from soy sauce (which you can get gluten free fairly easily) you’re pretty set. Rice. Curry. Rice noodles. Fish. More rice. It even tastes good with minimal changes. Beautiful beautiful cuisines.
#NOT biased at all with this one but really truly!!! Asian cuisines are so much friendlier overall#not when you’re traveling that’s a whole different story#but still!! Thai food is pretty safe!! Indian food is pretty safe!!!#Japanese and Chinese have been more hit or miss for me it depends on what u get but those usually have options if they’re chill#just got Malaysian food which fucked severely and they were very nice about removing soy sauce which meant a lot of stuff was fine#and really if you’re cooking it yourself then there’s very minimal changes to recipes so no worries about it turning out bad!!!

love how there are pretentious video essays that just repeat the book and meander and ramble about house of leaves. it's what zampanó would have wanted. it is not, however, what I want
#anyway i finished the main portion of the book#all i have left is the poems and a few other small things i think? ive read pelafinas letters#im thinking of getting the full book of her letters#but also they severely messed with my head so we'll see#i will say. i do get why ppl say the book is pretentious and frustrating#there was a lot of stuff where i couldnt tell if it was supposed to be satire or if it was genuinely just that dense and pretentious#and a lot of the codes were rly obtuse imo?#like... idk. some of them were super obvious like the sos stuff or pelafina outright saying what to do#but others like. man how am i supposed to know johnny waxing poetic about pussy was coded#i mean that one is also pointed out though much later but i know i missed a lot just like it that werent pointed out#and ive heard theres a lot of shit where the message you get is just danielewski????? which gonna be real. kinda dumb.#but i did also really enjoy the book#there was a lot of stuff in it that was just so compelling or poignant or whatever other word#the minotaur stuff is good (ofc id say that though i love me some minotaur themes)#also a lot of the scenes with johnny just...... christ#idk how ppl say to skip them hes so fascinating#yeah i could do with him talking about his possibly hallucinated sex life a bit less but also his story is just plain interesting#i still think about the part where the girl he was talking to runs over a dog they had picked up........ it was fucking chilling#and his hallucinations of dying are so descriptive in just the right way to get under my skin#the uncertainty with him and his family..... did pelafina try to kill him? did his father just send her away for being a bit too overbearin#over an accident? was there something else? what was the deal with his foster family? with lude? gdansk man and kyrie?#how did it get published? who are the editors? why did the band know of the book before it should have been published?#why does his journal section end with a story from a man he admits to making up completely? the doctor from seattle doesnt exist#the chronological end is more hopeful with him saying things will be okay but then he puts a previous entry after that?#i think the burning of the book parallels the story nicely#johnny said his piece; he nurtured the book as much as he could; but it was hurting him and he had to give up on it#idk!#this book does make me feel a lil dumb ngl

I continue to be EXTREMELY ANNOYED at people bitching that Persephone retellings and LO in particular turn Demeter into the villain.
Like. LO in particular.
Apollo is the villain in LO. Extremely explicitly. He rapes Persephone and the entire webcomic is Persephone healing from that assault. He gets all the villain plots. He is villainy plotting to take over as King by sucking Persephone's magic dry. Could NOT more explicitly be the villain here.
Demeter is not meant to be a fucking villain in LO. Demeter is a mother who's trying her best and fucking up, largely due to her own unprocessed trauma. She's not being villanized, Jesus Christ, just because she has conflict with Persephone doesn't mean she's meant to be the bad guy. They talk things out! They go to therapy! They make up!
I know the original myth isn't about Demeter and Persephone having a complicated relationship, but making Demeter into a complex character who fucks up at times isn't actually this OMG HORRIBLE MYSOGINISTIC CHANGE some people like to make it into.
