SECOND OF ALL freaking episode 5 MAN I CAN'T genuinely i haven't laughed and giggle like that in forever like lucifer getting pissed off because Alastor was getting close to Charlie only to turn into a musical about how he's a better person then her father who can offer to her everything and basically saying straight to lucifer that "you're daughter calls me daddy, bitch" LIKE HELLO??

EPISODE 7 I- no comments every time i rewatch genuinely i thought that she was just about to kiss him just so he can shut up about he's nonsense and stupid jokes, like freaking straight up she was having a break down while he was just smiling like a gremlin and not listening to whole context other then just what he hears which i can already imagine this is what he heard in he's mind "Yeah i'm having a break down right now bla, bla, bla... my girlfriend just keep the biggest secret since we bla, bla, bla and now heaven is bla, bla... I think this is you're perfect opportunity to make a deal with you and repay you later with something special"  And then their the half of the episode where basically everything should explain for itself like come on even freaking Rosie calls him out on that and HE EVEN GIVES HER THE FREAKING MIC something that is part of him like DUDE.

Oh dear episode 8 finale was honestly for me the cherry on the top, seeing Charlie soo happy that Alastor was alive and the fact she didn't even haste to hug him just made my heart melt l like soo much freaking joy from her. Also my brother was starting having a freaking breakdown saying that "Oh am gonna be the one who's pulling on the strings" yeah honey no, hate to break to you but she is fixing you! don't you dare come up with random poor excuses for getting feelings for her.

Seriously am speechless soo many scenes that just no comments.

I NEED season 2, praying on knees we are getting more of them hopefully, like genuinely if she the one who fixes he's scar and the have a moment alone I- or a small kiss on the cheek or Charlie keeps on fixing him and Al opening up about he's life, swear soo many opinions. Not meantion a while ago Amir Talai during a interview he was asked a question during the topic about the possibility of Alastor getting redeem and that question was this "Of all of the characters in the show, who do you think he cares about the most like who will he go above and beyond for versus any anyone else" and freaking smile like a god damm gremlin saying he won't answer that fully knowing something is happening and am like BRUH YOU- come on all the hints are on the table at this point like their just keep teasing us with it.

Massive thank you for the charlastor fandom for keeping together in hard times because jeez talk about the definition of hell, hope season 2 gives us some treats for all that happened.

Oh yeah i swear this just straight up a call out to those two.

Oh my god yes, I feel you first I saw the ship in the pilot and was instantly hooked on it but then I saw episode 7 with the scenes in Charlie's bedroom and was just like 👀👀👀. The chemistry between them was so strong that it could have been used for a Chemistry Lesson

In episode 1 where the Commercial was shown and Alastor said later that his face is made for radio only, I just thought "OK My face was made for radio then why did you film it" or when Charlie was shown, I heard people theorizing that he got extra close to Charlie to film her because he doesn't really know how to use a video recorder and I love it. Of course he has many photos of her, he is obsessed with Charlie

Episode 5 and Hell's greatest dad, despite people using it to hate on Charlastor, honestly was a win for the ship too. Like Anon said, Alastor practically using the "Your daughter calls me daddy (and I call her mommy) card and Charlie defending him against Lucifer was just great" he is doing it for me! "or don't forget Lucifer thinking that Alastor is her boyfriend. Mimzy calling Charlie Alastor's princess, Like why do so many think they are dating

Episode 7 was just Chefs kiss, like I already said the bedroom scene with them was just how the hell am I supposed to not ship them?! Charlie and him walking arm in arm to the cannibal colony and Rosie teasing Alastor that she is too young for him. Or the fact that Alastor gave his cane to Charlie while ready for this. People can tell me what they want but Alastor adores her despite him wanting to manipulate her

Alastor opening up even a bit to Charlie in season 2 would be great, like it makes sense that she is and not someone else. Both of them are the leads and as that their relationship hopefully develops in the show, let's just hope Charlie gets attention from the show. I hope the trend about people thinking they are together continues, image Alastor's mother thinking that Charlie is his girlfriend

And as I saw the interview from Alastor's VA my first thought was that he is talking about Charlie like it makes just sense that she will become a very important person for Alastor, whatever platonic or romantically, but I am not trying to get my hopes up as the show and fandom seems to dislike Charlastor (despite it being one of the most interesting ships)

Don't worry about rumbling too much about them, there isn't too much about them, I could talk hours about the ship! Like they are too cute and interesting. We have a saying in my home country "Zwei idioten, ein Gedanke" which translate to Two idiots, one thought and I think that describes Charlastor very well

The Handmaid's Tale Rewatch: 2x07

These rewatch posts will all be spoilery, so if you haven't seen the show and want to watch it unspoiled, read no further.

Ahh I forgot this was the hospital kiss episode. I kept thinking it was in 2x08 for some dumb reason, so I wasn’t prepared. What a perfect scene for 47 reasons.

I love how when June walks by Nick at the hospital and she just says "blessed day" to him, it's like they're having a coded conversation (an Osblaine specialty) where she's actually saying "I need to be alone with you," and he understands, so he repeats back a "blessed day" that's actually saying, "I got you, I'm coming, one second."

The moment Nick swerves into that alcove with her, he's already breathing heavily and stressed af about her wellbeing, asking his traditional "you okay?" as he's rushing up to her, and they can just rip my still beating heart out of my chest and crush it for fun at this point.

Then they hear the walkie talkies on the other side of the wall, she apologizes quickly for putting him in danger, and she tries to leave. But the way he pushes her back against the wall to stop her is so potent, like he's telling her with his whole body that this moment with her - that being there for her to express how she feels, even though she is physically okay - is more important to him than any risk he's taking.

This episode rolls off the previous two where June’s mental state deteriorated to the point that she and their daughter almost died, so not only is this “you’re more important than anything that could ever happen to me” energy on brand for Nick, but he also almost lost her when their safe space together was taken away from them by his marriage. So now any moment they can steal to be alone has so much weight to it.

I also love how this very risky, near-public hug/kiss took place one episode after June told Nick in the Waterfords’ sitting room that they can’t keep sneaking around. Girl, we all knew that was futile.

Ooh man, and when June tells Nick: "Cushing, he wants to know who helped me... when I ran." I totally LOVE Nick's moment of terror there, where he's not expecting that, and he's like... "omfg there's another problem now, fuck." He covers for it real quick, but for a second, you can see how scared he is for both of them.

And then the way she says "okay" after he says "I'm not gonna let anything happen to you." Her "okay" is honestly kind of dismissive to me, as if she's not actually worrying about that. She's worrying about Nick, as she says in the next line. And he misunderstands and is trying to reassure her, so that's yet another thing that catches him off guard - that she's clearly more worried about him here.

But also, it's actually so much like the moment on the bridge in 4x03 when he's trying to apologize for what happened with Hannah and she's like "yeah, yeah, I know, it's not your fault, we only have a second, and I need your comfort right now." It's a very similar facial expression from Lizzie.

Before the hospital kiss, June is in the room with Fred and Serena while Fred thirsts over her pregnant belly (vomit), and it was just making me think about how ever since June got pregnant, Fred is always staring at her body and belly and the “miracle” and asking about that (like when he returns home in 2x08 and the household is lined up in the foyer waiting for him).

Of course Fred never actually cared about June as a person anyway, but having that scene of him touching her belly in the hospital right before the moment when Nick rushes into the alcove to check on JUNE - as a whole person - is so striking. Nick cares about JUNE. Everyone else sees her as a vessel. And I never thought about the juxtaposition of those scenes back to back before.

I'm also questioning everything about the structure of Eyes vs. Commanders vs. Guardians again. When Nick is in the hospital to see Fred and Serena, and Putnam asks Nick "did you know him well?" - it almost reads to me like Putnam knows or suspects that Pryce was over the undercover Eyes, and if Nick did "know him well," then that's a clue as to Nick's undercover status with the Eyes? I think it was ambiguous to keep it mysterious, but now I want to read a whole, dry, Gilead-sealed document about how it all works...

I haven't seen many people talking about it, but being the crazy huskerdust fan I am, I'll talk about it.

I have the whole Loser, Baby mv memorized in my mind, and I've been practicing singing with certain emotions that will make my singing better. With all of this I noticed something in loser, baby: Husk sounds happier than ever. And yeah this may be obvious, I mean, look at him.

We've seen in episode 5 how scared he is of Alastor, and how relieved he was in ep 8 while Al wasn't there with them.

He was happy that Angel opened up in ep 4, even if he opened up snapping. Husk took that chance to tell Angel that he also made terrible decisions that made him end up caged.

BUT THAT'S NOT EVEN THE BEST PART, HE WAS EXTREMELY HAPPY TO HAVE SOMEONE TO TALK TO

I mean look at his smile.

For the whole first part of loser, baby before the chorus Husk was "talking about himself", as a way to show Angel that they're really in a similar situation.

He was opening up to someone. And not idk a bartender, like he definitely did in the past, he was opening up to someone who could understand him, who ALSO needed someone else. Husk realized this, he realized that they found each other, LOOK AT HOW MUCH HE SMILED HERE

And even this, he probably insulted himself like this multiple times, he was happy to share those insults with someone else

EVEN HERE, HE DIDN'T JUST SAY "just like me" HE PUT HIS HAND ON HIS CHEST, AS A WAY TO EMPHASIZE THAT THEY'RE ACTUALLY THE SAME

He was having fun, he was actually having fun opening up like this. I'm 100% sure that if we rewatch the whole season, and take all the times Husk smiled, in this song he smiled the hardest.

He was stuck for so long "at rock bottom", he knows what Angel is going through.

LITERALLY LOOK AT HIM, HE'S HAPPY TO HAVE FOUND ANGEL

He even LAUGHED, he couldn't hold it anymore. Many people when they're happy they laugh. He laughed not to mock, but to tell angel "yeah, tell me about it!"

"Get outta here man" Basically saying that it's useless to whine, he knows the pain of being constantly controlled by others, he literally means to say that he shouldn't waste his time regretting. He knows what that feels like

Anyways I can't fit any more images but, even later on when he says to angel "baby that's fine by me" YEAH THAT'S FINE, IF BEING A DICK SUCKER IS YOUR COPING MECHANISM, THEN WHO SHOULD STOP YOU??? BE YOURSELF!!!!

Angel realizes this now, he's not alone anymore. He has someone he can talk to knowing well that he can relate too. If they stick together "things will end up differently".

And the last chorus, my favorite part of the song, it's meant to be a message to everyone, even the viewer. Stop hating yourself, your only path from now on is going on, who cares what everyone thinks about you. Yeah you're under someone else's control, so what? If it doesn't stop you from living your best life, why should YOU limit yourself? "Play your cards, be who you are".

Anyways I love this song it makes me feel accepted and I'm so happy it exists

Thoughts on Caryl/MMB/TWDCaryl

First things first, I'm super new to the fandom stuff involving anything The Walking Dead... but I've been through this before.

So--- I began The Walking Dead in 2018, which is around when Season 8 was about to premiere I believe (correct me if I'm wrong). Nevermind the fact I watched the premiere episode all the way back in 2010 and for some reason, never watched again, lol. All I remember is binge watching the first 7 seasons and waiting for the new season to air. But something came up, and I somehow lost track of the new episodes. Fast forward 6ish years and I decided to rewatch from the beginning ...on election night .... to distract from the chaos. I ended up watching the entire series (plus two seasons of #TWDCaryl) in 3 weeks.

Similar to many other fans, I loved the whole cast, but something drew me to Carol and Daryl the most. I remember loving them the first time, but I never really "delved" into it. I liked the idea of them, but I wasn't super... shippy if that makes sense. But---and this is important--- I was already fully immersed in a long-term ship already in EO. Yeah, that EO. The 25 year long slow burn ship from Law and Order SVU. I guess you can say I didn't have the brain function to obsess over two different ships... at least not back 6ish years ago, which is still about 2 years before news broke Chris Meloni/Elliot was coming back to the franchise after 10 YEARS away. SO--- if you're familiar at all with that and/or EO and the drama with the ship itself, the other ships within the show, and the fans --then we're on the same page.

Which brings me back to Caryl/TWD spinoff. I can't say I'm super surprised at the drama surrounding the new spinoff ---which I was insanely excited about years ago when it was first announced even though I hadn't watched the show in a couple of years. Plus, I was a Caryl fan from the beginning too. But then the news broke that Melissa wasn't going to be on the spinoff after all and I remember thinking --- I'm kind of glad I didn't get as invested in them as I have EO (which is ridiculously invested ---17 years worth of fanfic, fanart, twitter, tumblr friends, etc). But after rewatching the series in its entirety this past November-- I've lost that battle. While I didn't hardcore ship Caryl the first time around (even though I really liked the idea) ---I'm down bad now. Especially after watching seasons 9/10/11 and now the spinoff. My twitter bookmarks, tumblr queue and tags are a Caryl mess right now and I wouldn't want it any other way.

I absolutely adore Melissa and Norman, and their friendship mirrors Chris and Mariska's on SVU's as well (Elliot and Olivia) in a lot of ways -- but that's for another time. (Also-- if you haven't watched Norman's ep of SVU -- highly recommend -- it's in Season 7). I truly think the friendships behind these characters truly drive the effectiveness of duos and ships. If the actors don't get along and/or truly love each other in real life-- it's just not the same. The love truly bleeds onto the screen when it's organic. It really makes everything "earned' like Mariska and Norman have both said about the relationships.

So--- it's disheartening to see that even though Melissa is back in the TWD world after all, and appeared at the end of S1 of the spinoff and all of Season 2, that she's -- from what I've seen tweeted/posted on tumblr --- not getting the respect she deserves, or so it seems. Being a part of a duo comes with all kinds of peaks and valleys. So, one half not getting what they deserve is something I hope sincerely isn't the case. She is literally my favorite female character on this show. I truly think MMB, is a gifted actress who is light years ahead in talent. And again, I love pretty much every character.

With MMB being a woman of a certain age leading a long running show--- I can't help go back to SVU with Mariska. Being leading women on high profile tv shows in your late 50's, early 60's is something to celebrate and be super careful with to be quite frank. MH has been lead/Co-lead on her show for 26 seasons now and an executive producer. If she's getting the respect over at nbc, then Melissa certainly should be getting the same over at amc. (Don't get me wrong, there is still BS behind the scenes on SVU too, but in different ways). Especially if she's also now an EP on TWD. ESPECIALLY by being a part of this for 15 years which is nothing to sneer at. Carol has got to be amongst the longest running female characters on television right now.

I certainly don't know much about what is going on behind the scenes in this case, and I don't really want to knowing what I've known and heard with SVU over the years. Sometimes it's better to NOT know. That's totally ignoring what the showrunner is saying in interviews and what not. I've definitely heard about him. Ugh. With that being said, hopefully things are not what they seem and that there's a lot to be excited and surprised about when Season 3 comes out I'm assuming later this year. There's a thin line between toxic positivity and just having been around the block a few times with previous shows and trying to wait it out. This means taking into consideration what is being filmed elsewhere and indoors.

I'm rooting for Caryl (big time) and for good writing for them. In regards to MMB not being seen on set much, hopefully it's purely her decision for it being that way, or because they're doing what SVU/OC have been doing and trying to keep storylines under wraps so they aren't spoiled --since the whole S2 got released prematurely for the Caryl Spinoff. Maybe it's wishful thinking. Maybe it's seen through rose-colored lenses because I'm not used to this type of fandom discourse like I am with SVU.

It's 2025, and I'm just rooting for my ships to finally receive the writing/canon they deserve. I must be a glutton for punishment because why in the frick do I ship these two??? LOL.

Anyways, I just wanted to get this off my chest because I hate seeing the downside to something I love so much and I'm sure that's true for everyone who comes across this.

I'll certainly be over on twitter expressing my love for Melissa/Carol and Caryl. (I do love Norman as well -- but wanted to focus this on what's important and that's giving Melissa her flowers.) Give that woman an EMMY. Anyways.

Ok first we need the set up

In this magical retelling of The Wizard of Oz Jennifer is the tin man, bound to inaction, Lilia is thr cowardly lion always afraid of what might come to pass, and Alice is the scarecrow who thinks she has nothing to offer but does.

It's heavily implied here that Teen is toto, though I think this is a misdirect.

Rio is the one she's known for ages, Rio protects her, Rio loves her, Rio is fearless, Rio gets her into shenanigans, Rio is pissed off at her mom & company who tried to hurt her, Rio literally licked her hand in the first episode

Rio is Toto

Now Wanda is definitely the wicked witch of the East, that makes Teen, Warlock, either the wicked witch of the West or Glenda the Good witch

And I'd argue for now, it's both. Teen is Glenda the Good Witch and Billy/Warlock is the wicked witch of the West secretly driving a lot of the action because of the death of his mother & family.

Ok so now episode five

This episode is poppy field incident in Wizard of Oz.

I had to go rewatch it, bc I haven't seen it since I was probably 8. So in that trial, The Wicked Witch of the West places a poppy field in their path, which would poison them with good feelings until they faded away.

Dorothy leads them into the field, it's beautiful, they're frolicking. Dorothy passes out, the tin man gets stuck again, the cowardly lion passes out out of fear, they all lay down in the poppies and almost drift away.

They realize something is wrong and scream for help, Glenda is super imposed over the screen casting magic to loosen the hold of the poppies enough that they can wake up and run away.

I think that the theories that this was all or partially a dream are gonna be right.

I also think Teen led them into that place and left the door open for the Salem seven (they're the flying monkeys after all) so he would have a way to coral them to this place

Maybe he originally wanted to punish Dorothy and leave her there, maybe he planned on siphoning his powers back while she was possessed by her mother or sleeping/high

Whatever it was, that didn't go as planned, he blames Agatha for fucking up his plan.

When Agatha says you're just like your mother it does inspire him, not to murder though, to wake them up.

My guess is the mud is a misdirect and he's using it to wake them up, because hell yeah he is just like his mother

But that means something different to him then Agatha. His mother bent the rules of space time to bring his father back to life. His mother went to any lengths to save the people she loved... Including becoming a villain in the eyes of some.

He asked Agatha to save Alice, she can't, he's furious because she was the one who caused all this in the first place, he couldn't be expected to know it would go like that.

Then she reminded him who he is, and even though she meant it meanly, like you're a hypocrite just like your mother, you're delusional just like your mother, you're willing to kill people to get what you want just like your mother, you call me the bad guy while being just like me just like your mother.

But it was still enough to remind him that there is no one better suited to breaking through some sort of pocket dimension unreality then the son of the Scarlet Witch.

So that's what he's doing, I don't think he's taking them off the road, I think he's pushing them down down down, back onto the road.

But really, also... Where is Rio?

Maybe Agatha is actually Rio, maybe the corpse of Alice is really Agatha, still sleeping in the poppies

Whatever it is specifically, none of this is exactly as it seems and I can't wait to see how it plays out

I'm rewatching pahkitew island for the first time it came out! I like it a lot more than i remember. Do you have any favorites from that season?? (Returning to fandom anon from before lol)

You're asking the person known for being a big Pahkitew Island defender if i have any favorites from that season?

I mean fair enough, i really don't talk enough about them!!! I actually like a bunch of the cast, but i'd say my favorites are Sugar, Max, Ella and maybe Dave? At the very least i find them funny, and if we're mostly just taking canon into consideration that's one of the best things you can be. Both Sugar and Max have great lines; Sugar being more mischievous was a fun change of pace for an antagonist in this show, while Max is a little overplayed but he's funny for most of his screentime. Ella's a nice presence all throughout and. Maybe a hot take? I liked Dave being pathetic in episode 9. Granted i think Sky should've shut him down earlier but it's due to an established flaw of hers + it's still really satisfying when it happends so. whatever. ignoring episode 13 real hard rn if you can't tell

The most compeling characters for me are definitely Scarlett, Ella, and Topher thanks to @/Tpher's analysis of him convincing me that his story's actually pretty good outside of him being funny! Ella's just a delight and i wish she'd made friends on the show, and while i wish Scarlett more nefarious intentions were made clear earlier, she's a pretty good antagonist and i find it fitting most of her ire was directed at both Chris (who's very involved this season huh) and Max (because yeah i find him funny but he was actively bothering her the entire time. she should've punched him i think)

Also! Haven't mentionned either of them yet! Jasmine and Shawn are good also! They just don't stand out much in my brain which is pretty sad because they're both interesting characters :p

Rewatched Cabin Fever for au reasons and OH MY GOD the ideas are flowing

The "we'll figure it out, together?" here and the "I need you to figure things out, together" in ep 7?? OH MY. FUCKING GOD MAN. THIS SHOW MAKES ME SO ILL YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND. OWW. FUCK

also I want V & Uzi to have like. A more positive relationship in my fuck around and find out au, (because TMNT just Changed Me like that, I need at least ONE pseudo-sibling bond) and this episode feels like an actual turning point for Vs character and yeah..... ARGGHHHHHH I can exploit this

ALSO. Yeah solver Uzi is always fun. Also theory time but I think I somewhat understand how she Got Like That

Using the solver puts a toll on the drones system → drone needs to cool down → if drone can't cool down, by consuming oil in this case, → solver activates Eldritch Mode to Aquire Oil™ → once cooled down the solver receeds

I think it's like that because the solver only started acting up after Uzi wasn't able to munch on that stolen arm cause V interrupted her. And she only NEEDED the arm because her CPU was overheating. So her system was like, "I guess it's eldritch time" and yeah.

ANYWAY THE POINT I WAS ACTUALLY TRYING TO MAKE, fuck around and find out au Uzi starts using the solver before the series events so I'm thinking the reason she travels to the corpse spire at first is to get that missing part for her rail gun, shoot one of the murder drones, and gather oil from some of the corpses there. Then she'd just retreat and wait out that 30 minute cool down while drinking some oil. But yeah..... That didn't work out just like in the pilot! Don't think N would think it's weird at the moment if Uzi munched on oil in the landing pod. Cause, y'know, that's what they do. He WOULD be weirded out and suspect something up post pilot tho. (Uzi definitely wouldn't tell any of them just because y'know. She isn't too keen to share the fact she probably has an eldritch horror ai in her systems)

Haven't rewatched EP 3 & 4 yet so I won't make any decisions yet. Instead I also wanna ramble about some other ways the solver fucks up Uzi's life;

Uzi needs an actual computer to repair herself properly. And sure, she has her own at the outpost, and those worked fine! But there's a stretch of time where their just Walking Around looking for something I'm yet to figure out, (I want to give the three of them, Uzi N and V a road trip arc for Bonding™) and Uzi can't just haul a whole ass double monitor computer around. So between the times they get to an actual computer, Uzi has to live with the solver fucking up her systems. I'm considering making it more different than just "fucked up voice". Maybe the Solver fucks with her mobility settings so she just can't fucking walk? Disconnect her visors so when they do get to a computer she needs to step by step guide N because She Can't Fucking See? I'm sure if these stacked up it'd be an absolute nightmare. Imagine you can't see and all your screams come out as garbled noise. And the only thing really keeping you company is the parasite trying to kill you.

ik that probably you already saw people pointing it out, but during Hell is Forever there are so many signs that make us think Adam and Lute were very close and actually cared for each other.

despite ep 6 (where we see that they used to hang out as “friends” and that they’re totally a badass duo when it comes to duets, + the ending where we see Lute crying over Adam) i feel like that the frames in Hell is a forever are underrated.

from the way he looks as her with pure adoration and invites her to join him during his dance (frames 0:59 ; 1:29 ; 1:43)

to lute doing the “i love u” sign and then pointing to Adam instead of the actual rock ‘n roll “🤘” (frames 1:31 ; 1:32)

I LOVE this ask, thanks so much for sending it in! <3 Hell is Forever gives us some amazing clues into Adam and Lute's relationship, and I love that they're very much 'blink-and-you'll-miss-it moments. Even going back and rewatching now, I've only JUST caught the salute that Lute gives Adam at 1:47 (on the official Amazing singalong video on Youtube) - if you haven't caught it, go back and have a look, it's actually adorable haha. I had no idea about the "I love you" sign until it was pointed out to me, I totally thought that was a cute little detail. I haven't actually seen the courtship theory before, so this is new to me!

Looking back at the song, I probably wouldn't say that he was necessarily courting her in front of Charlie. BUT I do think that you're right, the way he circles her is very bird courtship dance-like, so my theory is that it's another subtle little nod to their relationship status without explicity saying anything. (also also another little background detail I love is in episode 6 when Lute grabs him by the collar - if you haven't already seen it, check out the reaction of the angels flying around in the background haha) As for the size difference question? ;) keep reading to find out

First of all - HANDS UP FOR SIZE DIFFERENCE!!! Second - there's a couple of things that logically could help him fit. Good old lube is one of them.

But more than anything, he'd probably also have to ease into her very slowwwwwwly to help her stretch and adjust (this is where good foreplay comes into it too; the more aroused she is, the easier this will be). Lute being on top would help with this too because she can control how fast/slow he enters her.

Breathing through it will help ease any discomfort. Not completely, but enough to hopefully take the edge off while she's adjusting.

welcome back the kristy thomas autism analysis, where i'm rewatching the show and writing down her autistic traits as i see em (as well as noting any neurodiverse traits in the other girls). here's part 1, 2 and 3/4 if you haven't seen them yet.

kristy's terrible no good very bad breaking of the routine. she hates when routines don't go as intended, and dawn is a break in the routine. she wants things to go back to a way she can predict, which is why she's so aggressive towards dawn

also, more hyperfixation!! how many people are going to write a club constitution. god's most autistic soldiers that's who babey!!!! it feels redundant to explain this one, but the bsc is clearly at least a new hyperfixation for kristy, at most a new special interest!!! :D

here we see how kristy struggles to socialize and connect in things she doesn't know how to add to it. she tries to join in and come up with her own suggestions. that whole scene just feels so autistic—that want to join in, to add your own suggestions, but people just look at you weird. kristy is not good at talking to people when it's not about the club (her new hyperfixation/SI) a lot of the time.

proof of that again is when dawn wants to teach her. she actually ends up quickly becoming dawn's friend because dawn decided to reach out to her using her hyperfixation/SI (though i doubt this was dawn's line of thinking, though i Will joke about it being so bc it's funny)

this is actually about kristy even though it's in 'additional notes': despite my initial thoughts (as i haven't rewatched in a While so i had little memory of it), kristy breaking the bags is not actually an autistic meltdown as i had vaguely remembered pre-rewatch. possibly nearing one though? except it's a fully understandable reaction and i'm hesitant to talk on it like it's autistic so yeah, that's why that's not up there.

What can I say? I love the Grumpy/Sunshine dynamic to bits and these two sarcastic assholes just hit all the right buttons for me. They had such great chemistry on screen and there are so many good fics written about them that I'm always finding new faves to hoard. Still my current obsession and probably will be for a while, I never get tired of reading this pairing. Or writing it.

2. Zukka

I never watched ATLA as a kid, I only discovered it during Covid when Netflix added it, triggering the renaissance explosion on my Tumblr dashboard. I fell in love with all the characters and multiple ships, but this remains my absolute favorite. Sokka had my heart from the beginning and Zuko stole it during the Pouhai Stronghold episode, and I spent way too long binge reading their tag.

3. Cougar/Jensen

No one was more surprised than I was when I just latched onto The Losers, and these two assholes in particular just completely ruined my life for a while. I've lost count of how many times I watched the movie and I even went out and bought the graphic novels the movie was based on, and I am completely content to ignore how those ended in favor of the cute as shit ending the movie had. Also, I can't hear Don't Stop Believin' and not smile like an idiot anymore.

4. Tony Stark/Steve Rogers

...you know, I'm starting to sense a theme here. Hmm. Yeah, we're gonna ignore that for now. ANYWAY. I got hooked hard on these two after The Avengers movie came out and happily read all the team fics where everyone lived in Stark Tower and these two danced around each other before finally getting together. They aren't my only ships in this fandom but they are my top one out of them all.

5. Sam/Dean & J2

Supernatural has probably been my biggest fandom due to just how long I was in it while it was airing and because I participated in the fandom during it's hay day on Live Journal. Which was so wild, eye opening, and amazing. I even managed to save up and go to a convention and meet them, which I still regard as the best weekend of my life. I love both these pairings for different reasons and can't really separate them so they get their own spot together. Even though I haven't read any or rewatched the show in a long time, this fandom will always be my first home.

last year i wrote my opinions on all the movies i watched on my Very Long Flights to australia, since long flights are a great opportunity to watch some movies i probably wouldn't have bothered to seek out otherwise. here's the stuff i watched this time around

the first 13 episodes of rurouni kenshin: okay so back when i watched demon slayer for the first time i asked around like "does anyone know any other Good Sword Animes. i'm in a big mood for Sword Anime" and a friend told me that they were going to tell me about THE sword anime, but with a BIG caveat. and the caveat was such that i went "ah yeah maybe i won't look into that one". i've since heard more about this series and been very curious about the story, because it sounds like My Shit. i figured in-flight entertainment is probably one of the more ethical ways to watch it, and i have confirmed that it is indeed My Shit. extremely skilled swordsman torn between his bloody past and a new life? he can win any fight, but at the cost of his soul? yeah. yeah. will say that the subtitles left in a lot of japanese terms and words that i think i would've greatly benefited to know the meaning of - like i figured it out from context eventually, but yeah. so Now I Know. at least my curiosity is sated.

the new wonka movie - it was Fine! i appreciated the sincere efforts of whimsy and trying to stick to a roald dahl-esque tone, though in hindsight it's ENTIRELY too magical and sugary sweet (hah). could definitely have done without the fatphobia - something that is very present in the source material, so i shouldn't have been surprised that it features in the prequel, too... it just made me go "nooo noooOooooo don't do that uuughhh noooooooooooooooooooo" a lot. honestly, as far as vibes go, this movie reminded me the most of the first f*ntastical beasts movie (you know, the one that came out in 2016, when we were still young and innocent) - like, decently charming, very cgi.

the old willy wonka movie - i had never seen this one before, and it provided me a lot of context for the New movie :') now THIS really hits the Unhinged Dangerous vibes the new movie lacked. easily the best played willy wonka. a grand old time. i <3 practical effects.

3/4ths of the barbie movie rewatch - is the barbie movie still fun to watch, even after a year of Essays and Takes? i think so. i was in a practical effects mood and had less than two hours left of my flight. like, it's The Barbie Movie. it will never be That Deep because it cannot escape its corporate mainstreamness, but i love the actual play-pretend whimsy and exorbitant amount of pink paint and funky outfits.

killers of the flower moon - i'd considered watching this on my previous flight, i had heard of the movie and put it on my to-watch list, but the THREE HOURS AND TWENTY SIX MINUTES runtime scared me off. not because i didn't have time (my flights were 12 hours and 7,5 hours respectively), but because i knew it was gonna be Heavy and Depressing and you gotta have the right mood for three hours of That. both of my flights had the exact same entertainment catalogues i gave it a try first thing on flight #2, knowing i don't have to finish it if i don't want. it was very good but oh boy heavy and depressing was correct! really good buildup of dread and despair as the web of murder closes in like water circling the sink. very good period piece, and everything i've read about it after indicates that martin scorsese worked very closely with the osage people to create this movie.

the lego movie rewatch - this is one of my favourite movies that i've seen many times but haven't in a while, and after the Three Hours And Twenty Six Minutes of indigenous people getting poisoned and murdered i REALLY needed something light-hearted. i was also severely sleep deprived at this point. all this to say that i was almost overwhelmed by how fun this movie is and kept tearing up at almost every scene. it's just such a good time!!!! my critique of this movie has always been that it has two tropes that annoy me - the "highly competent girl is reduced to an assistant for the clueless 'chosen one' dude" and "person who has changed their name goes back to use their ~*real name*~ because it's more valid than whatever they picked" - that only annoy me because of how prevalent they used to be at the time when this movie came out. in isolation, the story works really well and i still like it so so much. everything is awesome!!!!!!

Okay so the scene where Glimmer, Adora, and Bow hide in a shop and then end up arguing with the shopkeeper is like, fascinating on multiple levels

Because on the one hand: I can't blame the townspeople for just keeping their head down and trying to get out alive. On the other hand, reporting them to the Horde isn't cool; they could just pretend not to be suspicious of these guys; there are in fact lots of places on the spectrum between "actively collaborating with one's oppressors" and "mounting a full-scale armed rebellion."

But on the other other hand I also think it's interesting that Adora's the only one of the three who's like "nah dude just let these people live their lives omg," something about Adora having lived in an oppressive environment for her whole childhood maybe

oh hey, lore: Horde Prime can't access ALL the memories in his previous bodies without going into them, and he keeps his old bodies around in that green goo, that's fucking weird and gross, anyway he plugs a connection into his old body

Horde Prime: "The First Ones sought a new source of power of ancient worlds. Why? Why bend themselves to the whims of magic and myth?"

Poor Hordak has flashbacks to Entrapta and the Fright Zone. Mostly Entrapta. Including a moment of her looking at him fondly--I think it's the moment when she says "Imperfection is beautiful."

Horde Prime: "The fools took their secrets with them when they died. But I will find another way."

(I've seen a fan discussion suggest that there aren't actually any First Ones left--that when Light Hope made it so Adora came through the portal, the portal itself went back in time. I like that explanation in part because it means in my fic I don't have to figure out why Adora doesn't go looking for her birth family. Which tbh most fic-writers don't worry about anyway lol.)

Back with the rebellion, poor Catra is once again trying not to lose her lunch because they've all teleported.

She transforms into She-Ra and Netossa literally does a whistle of appreciation and says, "New look?" and She-Ra grins back. And somehow that is, like. Super queer. Like literally just one lesbian to another, in a flirty-but-not kinda way. Like I have *had* those interactions, where the underlying meaning is "I know we're each in a relationship, so I'm not actually hitting on you; but as one queer woman to another I want you to know that I see what you're putting out there and I like it." It's one of the best things??????

Netossa gives a little speech to Spinnerella about how she loves her and Spinnerella actually comes back for a few seconds ;_; but then she's gone again, but She-Ra and Netossa convince her to disappear for a while at least? And the locals rejoice.

And Catra would know. ;_; (She rubs the back of her neck after saying this.)

Anyway word gets back to Horde Prime that She-Ra is back on Etheria :D and he's so fucking pissed he's going to go there

They go to where the rebellion is actually hiding out, Glimmer and Catra recognize it

hey so not too long ago, i saw a post from rz twitter that said that during the first loop where subaru meets otto, when subaru met the witch cultists and were chanting something to subaru before they left, that these cultists left because some outsider (who's therefore an enemy to their witch and its prophecy) was nearby. And the tweet said how that "nearby outsider" was actually otto who stayed behind because he was worried that subaru, (whom he met only as a customer in that loop and otto had already fulfilled his job) would succumb to danger. And despite frufoo's warnings, it's heavily implied that otto had in fact died in that loop waiting for subaru to come back. And the replies were saying that it's common knowledge?

First of all, is that true? I can see how one would come to the conclusion that the cultists left because otto, an outsider, was nearby. But i haven't seen proof of the implication that otto died from that loop. Secondly, with this perhaps being true, does that confirm that any loop in which otto was nearby and subaru is in danger, that otto risked his life for him? Some ppl say "but the whale incident!" But like you said way earlier, otto came back to him after pushing him off, and it's implied that he died trying to save subaru. There's no loop i can recall otto leaving him to the dust, even when he doesn't know who subaru is. And thirdly, Otto get some self-preservation skills, you barely knew the guy and already risk your life for him. What the fuck.

HAH anon your ask intrigued me so much i immediately went to the anime to try and confirm this. and bc the anime is the closest bit of info i got wjdndn i dont have arc 3 ln or access to arc 3 wn (i do not understand japanese either, sadly) but!! while the anime doesnt explicitly confirm otto died in that first loop his character debuted in, i think its definitely a possibility that he died to the witch cult there. (if anyone knows the lore on this for sure though feel free to add?? yeah)

also regarding about whether this is common knowledge or not—id argue its kind of not, at least in certain circles, bc im gonna be completely real i had to double check the anime to see how well i remembered it bc its 1. been a while since i’ve watched season 1 in full and 2. when i was looking at it on my first watch i was focused more so on what the hell was happening to subaru, rem, emilia camp rather than otto, who at the time seems like just some random guy who wont appear ever again. but also maybe im a little too used to people misinterpreting rezero over on reddit ajfbdnd bc some people STILL completely forget that otto went back after pushing subaru off the wagon. and some people still forget ottos died for subaru even though its super obvious in arc 4?? so i dont think ottos involvement with subaru across loops is really common knowledge? or at the very least its not common for Certain portions of the rezero fandom bc i see ottos whole fixation on subaru gets glossed over at times. but i do genuinely think moments like the first loop with otto are probably easy to sort of miss if youre not paying attention. but also again i might be a little bit brainwashed by rezero redditors misreading things bc the amount of people that forget otto went back for subaru in the white whale loop made me doubt my own memory of that scene to the point where i rewatched it in the anime just to be sure wkdndnd. i dont really see any english rezero people talk about this loop in particular too unless theyre referring to you know, rem arlam and emilia camp dying. but anyway moving on for now…

alright!! lets go over this scene i suppose. the anime doesnt go into like. Specifics, like how the tweets you mention do anon, but it does have some interesting stuff.

in the anime, the first loop with otto happens in episode 14 to about the beginning of 15, but the focus is of course more so on subaru, rem, arlam, etc, bc rem left for the mansion and subarus trying to get there quickly so he pays otto to do that. otto takes the time to warn him before they even set off, not only for his own sake but also for subarus:

but you know, bc ottos desperate for money bc hes in debt, he takes up the job. but once otto and subaru actually get to the road leading up to arlam and the mansion, otto stops bc frufoo’s frightened and shes warning them of danger—

but subaru being subaru jumps off anyway and leaves. he says this quickly before he goes:

otto replies by trying to call out to him desperately as he runs away:

your point about ottos self preservation is super interesting anon because otto DOES have self preservation skills. he almost kind of prides himself on it, sometimes—as a merchant, especially from a merchant family, hes been raised to treasure it. to go for things that work in his favor. especially with his bad luck fucking him over too. and he can be slightly morally ambiguous at times, so he is Very aware of self preservation and staying out of trouble. but at the same time, leaving behind innocents does kind of weigh on him bc. well hes still human. that and the further into rezero you get, the more clear it is that ottos self preservation skills just get thrown out the window the moment he sees subaru. like otto takes a significant amount of time on screen to complain about danger or trouble hes found himself in, or go on and on about how the moment he sees danger, hes just gonna turn around and run—but its just COMPLETE AND TOTAL BULLSHIT SOMETIMES. he has plenty of chances Every Time to turn around and run and the moment subaru enters the picture, he doesnt take it. the only exception to this was him leaving subaru in greed if, but thats because he saw that subaru didnt give a shit about him and even then. he made that choice FOR subaru’s sake too, bc he recognizes that greed if subaru is just gonna micromanage everything and deal with it on his own. otto knows he’d just be another burden to subaru, so he leaves to lessen the load.

main route otto though? yeah youre absolutely right his self preservation is way beyond dead at this point. his self preservation is absolutely gone when it comes to subaru. this first loop is an example of it—while of course ottos you know treating subaru like a stranger bc thats what they are, he goes out of his way to warn subaru repeatedly. at first it looks like its mostly just for his own benefit bc hes Also in danger here, but then he says that he cant just accept taking subarus money and items. he talked about how hed accept subarus payment just a few minutes before this?? and we know in retrospect that he desperately NEEDS money bc hes in debt??? and subarus giving him an out right now to just leave and not look back but he still hesitates and frantically tries calling after subaru??? he has EVERYTHING to gain from just taking the money and subarus things and just leaving, but we dont actually see him leave on screen.

and then right after this, we cut to subaru running to arlam. of course, the witch cult stops him, and in the anime, all they do is circle him, then bow (to foreshadow how the witch cult + petelgeuse think that hes one of them, im assuming), and then they disappear without saying a single word.

its interesting to note though that when they leave, they run towards the direction subaru just came from. which is where otto was.

and then subaru keeps continuing on to arlam and the mansion where he finds out that the witch cult Basically wiped everyone out there. episode 15 continues this loop and then quickly ends it bc subaru is having a mental breakdown finding everyones corpses and then he promptly proceeds to die to puck (iirc?) inside the mansion. and thats all the details the anime gives about the ending of this loop. so no clear hint like the white whale loop that otto Died from this, but i think the implication is definitely there if you choose to read into it. (again, im not sure if the ln adds more details to this or not, but iirc the anime doesnt touch on this much.)

its strange that the witch cultists that find subaru just. up and leave in the direction where we Know otto likely is, bc 1. the cultists move Fast and 2. only a couple minutes passed at most, so its likely that otto is Still There, even if he did start trying to leave. even then though, i think its in character for him to still be there and try to wait for subaru. or, at the very least, otto waited there debating with himself on whether he should just leave or not. waiting there satisfies both his self preservation and the guilt he’d feel if he just abandoned subaru—he doesnt go any further to minimize the danger to himself and frufoo, but he doesnt completely leave just in case subaru comes back or if otto decides to move forward and check on subaru or something. but then we see subaru find everyone at arlam and the mansion dead, and we the audience know the surviving witch cultists left in the opposite direction (where otto is) after killing everyone at arlam, so—i think theres a connection there. as in: yeah. if otto was still there, hes probably dead.

additionally, of course later in arc 3 we see that otto gets captured by the witch cult. this time he was captured bc the witch cult caught him hurrying to get to another location for its job offer, so the witch cult captured him to interrogate him on what exactly he was doing iirc?? so in that sense yeah he was caught by the witch cult for being an outsider getting into witch cult territory while they were in the middle of doing shit (and he likely wouldve been killed if ricardo and the others hadnt rescued him) o.O

but yeah thats all the animes got regarding the first loop (aka ottos official debut into the main story as well)!!!

“There's no loop i can recall otto leaving him to the dust, even when he doesn't know who subaru is." also anon youre so right for saying this bc. yeah i cant recall any loops either bc every time otto is there near subaru. hes risking his life for subaru. hes so incredibly ride or die that its concerning. it kind of boggles my mind that some people overfixate on how he pushed subaru out of the wagon in the white whale loop and YEAH that was fucked up, but not only does he feel bad and die trying to go back for subaru later, but when you watch that scene in the anime and think about it from ottos perspective. yeah some guy you just fucking met is yelling at you about how you apparently forgot about some person youve never heard of in your life, hes yelling at you to go back and TOWARDS THE WHITE WHALE when all youre trying to do is save both of your asses, he starts trying to wrestle with you while youre both being hunted down by the whale, and then he starts rambling to himself about how maybe its his fault the white whale is chasing after both of you while you keep hearing the white whales deranged thoughts in your head the whole time bc of your dp??? its a miracle otto didnt push subaru out of that damn wagon sooner and its a miracle otto even decided to go back for subaru after all that T^TT any person in ottos shoes would be RUSHING to push subaru out of that wagon.

but like. once you think about it - yeah Every Time in the main route that ottos been near subaru and theyve gotten into danger? otto actively puts himself at risk for subarus sake. and he doesnt always die or get hurt for it, but we know that he ALWAYS goes out of his way to help subaru. hes been like this since his debut in arc 3, practically, regardless of whether or not he actually died there. bc he still Lingered around and tried to warn subaru not to leave.

so what im saying is that so much of ottos screentime is spent helping subaru in some way.
