My favorite thing is people insisting that I HAVE to watch popular pieces of media that I've never seen before.

So, at my friends (multiple) behest, I am, for the first time, watching Lord of the Rings.

I wanted to start at The Hobbit, because I'm told it's a prequel, but my younger brother demanded that I watch The Lord of the Rings first, because, and I'm paraphrasing, 'The Hobbit is just an unrelated side-quest, you have to watch The Lord of the Rings first'

I will update you as I finish each movie, even though I doubt anyone really cares. It's a sort of accountability check.

one thing i’ve learned in three episodes of tatort saarbrücken: adam and leo have no concept of physical space whatsoever. hugs and dialogue (“i missed you”) aside, they’re standing so close all the time??? the eye contact??? they’re not that far apart in height (adam’s 189cm to leo’s 186cm) but if leo looks up at adam like that one more time because he’s standing right there in his space i’m going to lose my shit

Watching The Expanse for the first time: Season Two

Me at camp when the only doctor, the only man who knows how to hunt, the only other woman with tracking skills, our resident silly jester, and Leslie the high school teacher go to the dangerous part of the island to pick up unstable dynamite to blow the door off a hatch in the woods nobody told anybody about the night before a supposed threat is going to come and slaughter the entire camp -

I heard a LOT of people calling this film a masterpiece and it finally got me curious to see it for myself. And you know what? They were right!

The animation is certainly no surprise, being somewhat similar to ‘The Last Wish’ and it makes the environments of the movie much more pretty. The score is so well done too, and I’m already hooked to the vocal theme in the middle of the film.

As for the characters, I’m already a sucker for the humble robot types who go pass their programming, so Roz immediately grew on me since her first scene. The fox is kinda like if Nick Wilde weren’t anthro but he has his own set of differences to make him stand alone. Brightbill was just adorable too with his robot mannerisms he picked up from Roz growing up.

After I think about it, this movie gives me a lot of ‘Leafie: A Hen into the Wild’ vibes. And if you’ve seen that movie and this one, you’ll understand.

The only two cons I may have on this movie is, like everyone else, was expecting this to be more of a silent film (like Wall-e) or at least have only Roz and other robots do the talking. Not that I don’t like it that the animals talk but still (at least it’s done better here than Wish). And lastly, the pacing does feel a little too fast for my taste. It kinda rushes through a few scenes and not really giving them time to breath, if you know what I mean.

Overall, I really enjoy this movie a lot and might be rising to the top of my Dreamworks best list. I most likely might see it again soon for best robot mom and fox dad. ^^

I’ve been watching Supernatural for the first time recently, I’m most of the way through season two atm and I’ve noticed a bit of a trend
