guys, i think the hermits are going to accidentally start a prank war again. because just like last time, a game of telephone has begun. first, false made iskall's build into ''false beans,'' her shop from the previous season. however, to give herself plausible deniability, she signs it with "love, Joel. x" due to his username, smallishbeans.

next, iskall sees this, and completely believes it. he thinks it was joel who pranked him, and as he says to pearl while showing off the sign, which he kept even after tearing the prank down, "joel gave me a kiss." in his most recent video, he pranks joel by sending him loads of anonymous messages in order to completely spam and fill his inbox, preventing him from getting any more mail, with notes such as "thinking about you. x"

of course, joel is going to have absolutely no context for this, because he didn't make the initial prank. so who is joel going to assume sent him all those messages while he was away on holiday? well, i have a guess.

Going crazy over BaseBros at this day and age, because Ethos last message to Iskall was so normal, so typical.

Hey, I did 1000 days in NWC, hey, I made a new machine, hey-

And he adds the little item frame under the sign with NWC thing, which from Iskalls pov looks like it never got actually removed. - like Iskalls last message might be gone, but not everything, there's still something left of it - of him.

And if Etho removed it, which idk bc I didn't watch his pov yet, then it was such a soft thing to do - to make it a little easier for Iskall when he comes back, because he'll come back and he'll get the stupid bragging rights and the stupid items with a little "Congrats" message above it any day now.

And he never gets it. He never gets a new answer and it's not Iskalls fault, but the world ends, yet he doesn't see him once more - no goodbye, nothing - their last conversation was done by signs, and if you don't count it, how big is a chance of Etho not remembering their last actual conversation, just to learn later that the one he doesn't remember was the last.

Also, Iskall, reacting to the new messages like nothing happened, nothing changed, his genuine excitement for the NWC 1000d day, his looking around for the machine and automatically trying to work it out AND FAILING.

Because he's a man that never got to move on, because he's stuck at a time that no longer will exist, nor will it move forwards.

Etho, who had to move on, leaving a message stuck in time.

Iskall, who couldn't, reviving a message and being too late to answer it.

really bad hc x mianite crossover au: tr lands in s10 and nobody really knows how

iskall and stress recognize jordan from vh and they're all like "ayyyy!". jordans been to mcc with a few of the hermits also so he's the most familiar of the five with them and overall pretty comfortable here. hes chilling

sonja meets gem n pearl and they instantly hit it off and start scheming

wag is like "HOLY SHIT IS THAT ETHOSLAB" and quickly ends up sharing notes with the builders, especially bdubs and grian, who share his habit of "yes, and"ing stupid silly bits. i feel like he is constantly on the run from the poe poe for distributing illegal materials (stupid amounts of speed potions for free) and starts a racketeering scheme with cub just naturally

tom is having the time of his life running around and causing so many problems, especially since nobody seems to get actually pissed off when he pranks them. he shows up in random peoples bases out of nowhere and gets panic-stabbed very frequently because of this. he does not care. he gets along great with everyone because he is funny and strange and chaotic. grian picks up on this early on and silently marks him as a Threat To His Role Of Chaos Maker and thus a Rival until tom is like "mate do you wanna go prank people" and hes like "oh okay this is a Friend. Yes"

meanwhile tucker, who is extremely suspicious of all of these scarily competent people and does not trust them at All despite their attempts to befriend him, eventually dissapears into the mines to get good and get diamonds and runs into TFC, who 1. scares the shit out of him and 2. instantly clocks that this is a Scared Kid and responds to his panic with dry humor, which somehow works

Ok so I LOVE the Vault Gods and I'm already going crazy from the Hermitcraft Vault Hunter series, so here are my headcanons for which of the participating hermits will find favour with which gods, and why. This has nothing to do with their play styles btw this is entirely guessing based on vibes:

BdoubleO100 - Clock boy will worship clock god. Wendarr loves time. Can't wait to see him build a temple to Wendarr outside the vaults.

EthosLab - Tenos. The man is a loot goblin and the promise of treasure will be irresistible to him. This also makes VH! Bdubs and VH!Etho into Loot&Scoot

FalseSymmetry - I was originally going to say False would go for Idona but I actually think False is more of a Velara kind of gal?

Hypnotizd - I'm feeling Idona for Hypno. Seeing him in the first vault he was so focused on Killing he completely missed mining up four different ore POIs... in part because he didn't know they were treasure!

iJevin - Speedrunner go fast. Wendarr.

ImpulseSV - I watch Impulse a lot but I'm finding him hard to pin down! Currently thinking he might be drawn towards Idona for the shard shopping? Or maybe Wendarr because yellow.

Iskall85 - In his other SMPs Iskall usually seems to be drawn towards Velara I think, but here he seems more Wendarr or Tenos aligned? Maybe it's just because he's using the early episodes to help his friends find their footing with the vaults and the gods? But let's be real - Iskall is too ingrained in the vaults themselves to fully belong to any one god over the others.

JoeHills - I feel like Joe is incredibly Wendarr aligned already, not least because of his philosophical musings on the way time passes differently in vaults.

Rendog - Do you think Rendog the bloody handed king will be able to pass up the worship of a god like Idona? For real? Like Bdubs, I expect to see a temple built outside the vaults.

StressMonster101 - Stress is giving either Velara or Idona vibes to me, mostly because of Muscle Vaults I think. Either health or strength, you know?

VintageBeef - Beef is building a battle royale arena for his card game on hermitcraft, so his friends can fight to the death to get better cards instead of buying them from him. Idona.

Welsknight - Wels has played Vault Hunters before, and is always asking questions. I feel like Tenos is the knowledge god? So Tenos to me.

xBCrafted - XB went in to the first vault with no healing? Velara worshipper already if you ask me.

Xisumavoid - X took time in the first vault to gather blocks for his base, both at the beginning and at the end of his run. This is SUCH a Wendarr move to me.

I'm fairly certain (I'll have to go back and rewatch again) they literally shared a bed in Iskalls room, Iskall funded this man's shopping sprees and he thanked him and he was so appreciative and bought stuff for Iskall on his runs, they're in love your honour

Did you know Etho used to be a botanist? I like to imagine him in a gardening apron and big sun hat (and maybe Iskall teases him about it ☺️)

So I may have forgotten the teasing bit and instead made it fluffy but I hope this suffices.

etho and iskall have a message board. it's used mostly for practical things, gift exchanges and hastily scribbled notes to iskall, “sell tridents at your shop! 20 diamonds each!” accompanied by a few little goodies here and there.

they didn't see each other around the base very often. they were both busy with their own projects, building insane farms and redstone machines, building onto the landscape around the base — so they didn't always have time to hang around.

not that either of them minded so much that they HAD to change it, and there definitely wasn't a lack of trying, but .. iskall thought it'd be nice to get to talk face to face with their base mate more often! especially after that bold note they left for etho — a joke, that's it, a joke about giving etho head if he so ‘ needed ’ it — they expected SOME sort of ... response. maybe they wanted one. maybe they wanted to see if something would come from that, but! that wasn't the point of this.

no, the point of this endeavor was to leave a different kind of note. see, iskall had a great idea, the idea to write a poem or something to possibly express to etho their— their feelings. because, well, they sorta maybe had feelings for their base mate? and had virtually no idea how to deal with it, so when cubfan of all people mentioned using the IOU from cleo to get a poem written about his canyon, well... they thought they'd ask her.

and she redirected them to joe, saying it wasn't entirely her thing, that joe was actually the one to write it, and he was much more proficient in writing sappy things — maybe iskall blushed a little too bright when she said that, but! that has nothing to do with this. definitely not, and maybe they were also stalling, but that wasn't important either!

anyway, they asked joe and joe, being the kind person he was, coached iskall a little bit on writing one. it was short, very short, but they hoped it would work. joe was — joe was a good writer! they would've asked him to write one FOR iskall to give to etho but joe was very adamant that it had to come from the heart and iskall — didn't love etho, did they? — with virtually no clue on how to even start writing from an organ, begged joe to teach them.

so, that brought them here. with trembling hands as they set down a lectern from their inventory, and the poem — scribbled down in a book, onto the darned thing — their face felt so hot! what if etho saw it and it wasn't up to par? agh! nerve-wracking!

so they put down the poem and left before etho could come home and read it in FRONT of iskall, which would probably kiII them on the spot, so they spent the rest of his day working on maybe finally sorting out the villagers?

it was safe to assume that village sorting was mind numbingly boring, and that their mind had betrayed them something fierce so all they could think about WAS the poem. speaking of, the poem was just— it was stupid, so maybe they'd just remove it and—

oh. oh. it's gone, it's gone from the lecture and iskall's brain flips to overdrive. that's scary, right? etho— he read it! oh no, oh no oh no oh no oh no—

“ iskall? ”

they freeze. when did they get on the ground? turning, slightly, to look behind them at the source of the voice which was undeniably etho, and force a smile —

“ hallo, etho, ” they greet, and both of them know instantly that something is wrong, obviously, iskall was very clearly on the verge of some sort of anxiety attack.

“ i got your poem. ” came etho, and he approached iskall and sat down cross legged beside them, hands in his lap. iskall glanced off.

“ i was going to take it back, i'm sorry, ” the words just— came out, and etho withdrew slightly — agh, all iskall did was mess up. “ not that i didn't MEAN what's in it, i meant it, ” they stumbled, breathing out shakily and glancing away, away from etho.

etho laughed. it wasn't mocking, not at all, it was light and airy and it made iskall's heart skip a beat. “ are you okay, iskall? ” he asks, placing a gloved hand on their shoulder.

they glance to his hand and to his face, and filled with sudden boldness from whatever vault god that was probably watching them, they lean in, pull down his mask, and kiss him.

iskall has kissed someone before. two people, actually, season 7, they kissed grian and mumbo. it was — it was an experiment! it was nice, but nothing like this. this kiss had iskall lightheaded and their heart positively thrumming in their chest, and even moreso when etho kissed back and wrapped his arms around their shoulders and oh ... oh ! that's— THAT'S what a kiss should feel like, that's what sparks! feel like!

they pull away, regrettably, but it's worth seeing the flushed look on etho's face, the way his lips looked— iskall couldn't look away, it was amazing. it was— what was the word mumbo said? the one iskall liked? bang— bong— BONKERS! it was— mega bonkers, yes, that made so much sense. it was mega bonkers and had iskall warm in the face.

“ i liked your poem, iskall, ” etho muses, cupping their cheek in his hand. they feel like their brain has just shut down, and all they can do is kiss him again with a smile.
