#is this too strange? I hope not

Since it rained here yesterday, it was the perfect day to find some mushrooms! I took some pictures that I'm pretty happy with so I thought I'd share. Buckle up!

My first find, a parasol mushroom! These are actually edible (said to taste a bit like nuts), you could fry them with an egg, but I don't eat mushrooms so I let it be. It was a bit small for its kind anyways, but very cute with its frilly edges.(Parasolpilz)

This is most likely a rosy bonnet because of that lighter colouring at the top, not edible. But quite the stunner with that pink! (Rosa Rettichhelmling)

I'd say that's a fairy ring mushroom (edible), since the hat looks slimy and flattens out towards the edges. The lamellae are noticeably lighter than the hat. This one was such a model! Look at how that light is shining through. (Nelken-Schwindling)

These were such an awesome find, look at that cluster! Looks like some young sulphur tufts/clustered woodlovers. Poisonous! The hats start out more round, and flatten out with age. The surface is usually smooth, which you can see isn't the case here. Most likely velum fibers! These can be covered by them. (Grünblätter Schwefelkopf)

This one had me stumped. It miight be a funeral bell/deadly skullcap (it's in the name!!! Deadly do not eat!!). I don't really think that's the one though. The lamellae form this bowl shape before connecting to the stem, which isn't characteristic for them, and lacks a ring. Those can disappear when they're older though. So yeah, I'm really not sure. The fuzz at the base of the stem is likely to just be extra mycelium, since it's been pretty humid here. (Gift Häubling)

I really struggle with identifying such tiny ones, so I'm not trying. It's cute though, love the frilly hat.

Probably a blusher. These usually aren't so gray, but they have a lot of variability. Edible after thorough heating. You'll notice the lack of grooves on the hat's edges and those velum remnants on top. The ring though, it looks so fancy! Reminds me of a sock. (Perlpilz)

Another note, I don't recommend collecting these, they're easily mistaken for panther caps/ false blushers. They can be fatal! (Pantherpilz)

This one had a big chunk of its cap missing, I thought it looked super interesting. Looking at the cap and rings it's most likely another blusher, or false blusher! Gotta be careful.

More tiny ones, I'm not trying. But I think they look like jellyfish! Especially with those thin black stems.

Okay if you actually read all that I'm rather surprised, this isn't... In line with what I usually post. But I'm really happy with these photos, and I wanted to share. I am in no way an expert, please do your own research if you want to collect mushrooms. (All these mushrooms are native to Europe, but some other places too.) What are dead man walking tornadoes? :O

it’s a multi-vortex tornado. i dont remember the tribe it originates from (i think it was cherokee), but there’s a native american legend…? saying? that goes “if you see a man in a tornado, you are about to die.”

it did so much damage to the town it caused the scale that tornados are measured by, the fijita scale, undergo revisions, and it made anchoring buildings in the tornado alley region pretty much mandatory. (it took the entire town off the map. only those who had taken shelter outside of the town or in underground bunkers survived.)

two more examples of dead man walking tornadoes looking like a person are a tornado from 2011 that hit cullman, alabama

and a tornado from 1975 that hit xenia, ohio

edit: it has been brought to my attention that the native american “legend” part of this post was a rumor spread by a documentary.

setting pessimism aside to daydream about my ideal bucktommy makeup scenario and i just... keep oscillating between buck extending an olive branch and tommy reaching out first. there's merit in both. yes i'd love for buck to discard passivity and fight for this salvageable relationship — for buck to look tommy straight in the eyes and tell him that his sharp edges and his vulnerable insides don't make him any less deserving of love. that he's not blinded by the excitement of novelty or misguided admiration — even without the full picture, buck has seen enough pieces of the puzzle that makes up tommy's whole to know that he loves the entirety of him, unspoken faults and past sins included. that buck can't guarantee forever but he sure as hell can try to build the sturdy foundation of a shared life based on the hope for more. that sometimes you just luck out on the first draw and there's nothing wrong with good fortune.

but it would also be extremely healing if tommy knocked on buck's door to chase after his own second chance. to say "i want you more than i'm scared of hurting" when buck asks him what's changed in 4 months — because tommy would rather live with scars than be haunted by regrets and what-ifs. because buck is worth the risk of never recovering from having loved him

Over the years the Fallout fandom definitely has slowly crept further into a “moral high ground over suspension of disbelief” space. I see a lot of people discussing their opinions of Fallout through the lens of their own personal morals that they’d apply to their own life, which is… Strange to me. I feel like dystopian media especially is not the sort of thing you should be judging by your own real life standards. Most things in Fallout are extreme. Most of the factions do extreme things. A lot of the things people do in Fallout would be considered inhumane, cruel or uncanny by modern standards. Because it’s a post-apocalyptic dystopia.

This isn’t me saying “everyone in Fallout is evil, stop expecting otherwise,” because I don’t believe that to be the case. Even good-willed people in Fallout do shit that would be considered extreme by modern standards. I just see a lot of people shying away from discussing the “grittier” aspects of the franchise because it might for whatever reason imply you condone those things in real life.

I hope in this revival Roger doesn't even go back to being mayor- I hope he just lives on Heinz's couch (Diane from latter part of Season 2 Bojack Horseman style), completely out of it. Imagine Heinz, who hates his brother (and who has NO business talking about OTHER people's mental health), trying to convince Roger that Hey, man! Life's not over! You still can do great things. You just gotta pick yourself back up. Preferably off my couch! Haha, haha. Stop crying. I didn't mean anything by that.

Caitlyn's Act Three Outfit

I think that Caitlyn's act 3 look being devoid of any insignia is a sign that on both a political and emotional level she has rescinded the position as commander as Ambessa appointed her and instead is commander as she is choosing herself to be in order to lead Piltover into battle and face the immediate consequences of her choices.

Now she has power devoid of any others' influence and is guided by her own self-reflection and growth, she has taken on a new look and a new approach. She no longer wears the beret, jacket, trouser outfit she dons in act 1 as we watch her descend into a desire for vengeance, and which becomes part of her act 2 outfit (as well as the cape adorned with the combined Medarda/Kiramman insignia, of course).

Her new outfit is practical but unfussy. It feels more grounded in Caitlyn's determination ('I don't need consolation. I need a plan') and action-focussed personality.

The black turtleneck in particular is really interesting (espc. as she wears it in the opening titles as well). There's a lot it could suggest, and I've seen some interesting interpretations, but for me I think it represents stoicism and solemnity. Grief and guilt led her down a dark path. Now reflecting on that ('hating you, i've hated myself'), Caitlyn will carry those choices with her forever. She will own them, and I think that's reflected through her outward presentation.

That the turtleneck is also a concealing garment could further suggest guardedness. She will not allow anyone else to take advantage of the power the Kiramman name affords her, nor will she lose sight of what is truly important moving forward ('this city needs healing'), and how her privilege could aid that 'fight.' In fact, I think Caitlyn comes into her own in shaping how the power of privilege operates after the battle- e.g. offering her council seat to Sevika.

That it is only with Vi that she removes those layers says a lot about their intimacy both physical and emotional, but that she wears it in their final scene I think also represents how Caitlyn is determined to keep fighting for a better world and atone for her previous choices.
