I love your ratchlock and Roddy comic so far omg. I was wondering, is that little nod ratchet gives prowl because prowl knows who Roddys carrier is?

Originally, that nod from Ratchet was meant to be something like, “Thanks for calling me instead of causing a scene or interrogating everyone with the entire high command present” 😅 And Prowl, giving him an annoyed look in return, was—to everyone’s surprise—silent and didn’t take any action

But now, after your question, I think you might be onto something. Maybe Prowl does know… not the full truth that Deadlock is Roddy’s carrier, but enough pieces of the puzzle to have a hunch

When Ratchet returned after his long absence with little Roddy in tow, he stayed tight-lipped about the sparkling’s carrier. That silence led to some assumptions. Many believed Roddy’s carrier had passed or something tragic had happened. There were even rumors that Roddy might’ve been a foundling, though that theory eventually fell apart given the unmistakable sir-sparkling bond between him and Ratchet

I think, at some point, Prowl started noticing subtle signs—clues that Roddy’s carrier wasn’t an autobot, or even a neutral, but a decepticon. He might’ve had a few suspects in mind, but no definitive answer

So, in scene, while everyone else was focused on comforting Roddy, Prowl was quietly putting two and two together… and probably having a bit of an internal meltdown 😅 I imagine his optic was practically short-circuiting by the end of it

The Day We Met

Deadlock lay on the med berth, exhaustion weighing down his body. But his attention was locked on the tiny, fiery bundle resting on his chest. His spark trembled, overwhelmed by feelings too big to put into words. This was their child. Their little Hot Rod.

So small. So fragile. He barely dared to move, afraid of breaking the moment. His large hand rested gently on the baby’s back, almost covering it entirely. The size difference struck him with awe. Slowly, he lifted his other hand and ran a single claw lightly across the soft, freckled cheek.

The baby stirred, a tiny yawn escaping him as his little fists twitched. Then, those bright, sky-blue eyes blinked open, locking onto Deadlock’s. Curiosity, warmth, and something deeper shone in them—something that looked like trust.

The child’s face shifted, recognition dawning. A radiant smile spread across his tiny features, so pure it stole Deadlock’s breath away.

His throat tightened, and he leaned closer, unable to tear his gaze away. In a hushed, trembling voice, he whispered:

“You’re perfect… the most perfect thing in the universe…”

The baby cooed softly, chirping in reply before nestling back into Deadlock’s chest, utterly trusting.

Tears welled up and spilled over, but Deadlock didn’t bother to wipe them away. His spark felt so full it might burst. This was a miracle. His miracle. Their miracle. And in that moment, he vowed to protect this little life with every bit of strength he had.

The Roddy & Deadlock comic started as a spontaneous idea and wasn’t supposed to go beyond two chapters. But seeing how much everyone loved it, I couldn’t resist continuing and expanding it

I plan to bring this story to a natural point with a few more chapters, though the ending will likely remain open. I’m also considering adding a couple of prequel chapters to explore the backstory further. However, that will probably be the conclusion for this bittersweet AU

After that, I’m looking forward to working on a happier version of their story—it won’t necessarily be easier, but definitely less tearful! 🥲

The process hit a bit of a roadblock because I wasn't happy with the design I initially planned for Ratchet. No matter what I tried, nothing felt quite right—cue lots of frustration and second-guessing 🙄😩 But at last, I’ve found a version I’m truly satisfied with!

With this hurdle finally out of the way, work on the comic should pick up speed again 🤗
