The Day We Met

Deadlock lay on the med berth, exhaustion weighing down his body. But his attention was locked on the tiny, fiery bundle resting on his chest. His spark trembled, overwhelmed by feelings too big to put into words. This was their child. Their little Hot Rod.

So small. So fragile. He barely dared to move, afraid of breaking the moment. His large hand rested gently on the baby’s back, almost covering it entirely. The size difference struck him with awe. Slowly, he lifted his other hand and ran a single claw lightly across the soft, freckled cheek.

The baby stirred, a tiny yawn escaping him as his little fists twitched. Then, those bright, sky-blue eyes blinked open, locking onto Deadlock’s. Curiosity, warmth, and something deeper shone in them—something that looked like trust.

The child’s face shifted, recognition dawning. A radiant smile spread across his tiny features, so pure it stole Deadlock’s breath away.

His throat tightened, and he leaned closer, unable to tear his gaze away. In a hushed, trembling voice, he whispered:

“You’re perfect… the most perfect thing in the universe…”

The baby cooed softly, chirping in reply before nestling back into Deadlock’s chest, utterly trusting.

Tears welled up and spilled over, but Deadlock didn’t bother to wipe them away. His spark felt so full it might burst. This was a miracle. His miracle. Their miracle. And in that moment, he vowed to protect this little life with every bit of strength he had.

The Roddy & Deadlock comic started as a spontaneous idea and wasn’t supposed to go beyond two chapters. But seeing how much everyone loved it, I couldn’t resist continuing and expanding it

I plan to bring this story to a natural point with a few more chapters, though the ending will likely remain open. I’m also considering adding a couple of prequel chapters to explore the backstory further. However, that will probably be the conclusion for this bittersweet AU

After that, I’m looking forward to working on a happier version of their story—it won’t necessarily be easier, but definitely less tearful! 🥲

PART 1

Roddy uses affectionate nicknames for his parents:

Carrier - Carry

Sir - Sy

This is one interpretation of my AU where Roddy is the child of Ratchet and Deadlock (in a... sadder version of it)

Hot Rod was born in the midst of the war, roughly 2 million years after it began

After long discussions, Ratchet ultimately took him to live at the Autobot base, where it would be safer for the young spark. No one knows how the Decepticons would react to Deadlock having a sparkling, and too many might see this “weakness” as something to exploit

Roddy knows who his carrier is and has met with him a few times

Autobots know he’s Ratchet’s sparkling, but they have no idea who his carrier is

Decepticons, for now, don’t know about him at all

During one of the battles, Deadlock is captured. While the higher-ups of the Autobots are preoccupied with more urgent matters, Roddy, following the call of his spark, finds his way to him ♡

The tension is rising

I have some ideas for a few more chapters, but after that… the story seems to hit a dead end. I have a few directions in mind, but they all lead toward a slower, longer storyline—one I’m not sure I’ll have the patience for

Originally, I meant this to be a short 'What if...' 🥲

So, for now, the story’s future is still a bit unclear

That said, if anyone has ideas or suggestions, I’d love to hear them! Whether it's about this AU, the story direction, or anything else, all thoughts are welcome. Your perspectives often inspire new twists and possibilities I hadn’t considered, and that’s always such a joy to explore. A quick sketches of an idea inspired by 'You and Me and Ambulance Makes Three'

Deadlock, who has disappeared to an unknown place, suddenly appears at some meeting about the truce, to silently lean against the wall with a bundle of incomprehensible blankets in his hands and accompanied by mechs armed to the teeth

But the bundle of the blanket is too inquisitive and reveals itself quite quickly

And Ratchet, who had no idea about little Roddy, gets a deep shock

For everyone eagerly waiting for the continuation of the comic about Roddy & Deadlock:

The process hit a bit of a roadblock because I wasn't happy with the design I initially planned for Ratchet. No matter what I tried, nothing felt quite right—cue lots of frustration and second-guessing 🙄😩 But at last, I’ve found a version I’m truly satisfied with!

With this hurdle finally out of the way, work on the comic should pick up speed again 🤗

We've had snow falling for a few days now. Everything around is white and fluffy ❄️

So... here are some wintery looks that have been spinning in my head this whole time

I still can't decide on Drift/Deadlock's look. I have a few options, but I like them all. I just can't choose 😩
