It’s like a sucker punch straight to my heart: chapter 9 (Loustat coffee shop au)

Firstly, I want to thank everyone for the incredible comments you have left. They're so kind and well-meaning, and I literally adore every single one of you. Thank you for consistently coming back and indulging in this little caffeinated universe I have created for myself. I always mean to respond, but I become overwhelmed. Anxiety is not my friend! I will let you know I do interact and respond more at my tumblr so if you ever want to come on over and send me a message, I'll reply. My tumblr is linked at the end notes of every chapter.

Secondly, it took me longer to update because I lost half this chapter. Losing it pretty much devastated me, and I wasn't able to write for a while. Thankfully, I finally pushed through, and now I love this chapter more than the original I had written.

Thirdly! This chapter is explicit. Basically, happy birthday, Lestat. Enjoy all the sex. You too, Louis.

I would also like to add that I have updated my Cafe du Lac playlistappropriately and you should begin with Rihanna's song Birthday Cake to get into my headspace while writing this chapter.

Also, I did create a series for Suckerpunch because I wrote a one shot set in this universe.

And finally, here is my coffee recipe:

White chocolate peppermint mocha (it is tastier than what I get at Starbucks.) Use your machine of choice! I used my Nespresso. Double espresso pod (you can use however much you want. I just prefer more caffeine) Place white chocolate on the bottom of your mug Brew the espresso into the mug until it has finished, then mix together. I use my handheld mixer to do this because I never do it right with a spoon. Add in milk of choice. I use oat milk and shake it up real nice because it tastes creamiest this way. Add in 2tsp peppermint syrup I then make some frothed oat milk, pour it on top. If you would like, garnish with crushed up candy canes. Enjoy! <3

Five Loustat AUs I’d love to Read

1, What if Louis had been exactly what Lestat seems to want? A genial companion who loves to kill people and separates himself from human affairs immediately? No Antoinette. No Claudia. Would that have made Lestat happy? How would that relationship have gone? A rewrite of Season 1.

2. An a/b/o AU set in the same time and place, except Lestat is human. Louis is an omega passing as a beta, struggling to take the reins of his family since his alpha brother and omega sister are incapable and Lestat, a rich alpha who wants to take over Louis’ whole life. The racial and social dynamics of the time would also play a large factor.

3. Groundhog Day AU in which Lestat, after having his throat slit in episode 7, goes back in time and relives the night he turned Louis over and over again until he realizes his mistakes. It takes 1000′s of tries before he figures himself out. The end is a whole new future for Claudia, Louis and Lestat.

4. An AU where a mentally healthy Paul saves the family business, and a closeted Louis becomes a priest, but still meets the Vampire Lestat. Sparks fly, religious principles are challenged, and inner darkness is revealed. (I honestly can’t believe that there isn’t one of these written already!)

5. An AU in which Lestat spares Louis after taking the little sip, doesn’t turn him, and he lives a full human existence. What does that life look like? This could be a dream or a vision sent to Vampire Louis.

In which Louis de Pointe du Lac is a new divorcee who takes his daughter across the Atlantic to France for a change of scenery. Louis is an author and an heir to a vast fortune, so he decides to rent a chateau in a remote village of the Auvergne. When strange things start happening around the manor, will he abandon their new life? Or will Louis tough it out to finish his book in time for the deadline?

The divorce had been finalized. Three years of fraught arguments, of feeling like he was sneaking around Lily’s back. Three years of bitter tension, of trying to maintain normalcy for Claudia. His princess, his everything, his daughter. Claudia was almost four years old. She didn’t know what having a regular family was like. She was stuck with a gay divorcee dad, and a mom who was so angry at him she didn’t want to have anything to do with her daughter. That part hurt the worst. That Lily didn’t want custody of Claudia, she didn’t even want to share her. It made him feel like Lily didn’t love her. She carried Claudia into the world, and because Louis… because he couldn't control his urges, she didn’t even want to be a mother. How was he going to explain that to Claudia, when she was old enough? How was he going to explain it to himself? By the end of their short marriage, he didn’t even care that he hadn’t made Lily sign a prenup. She took half of his inheritance and the house, and he didn’t care at all. She could have it. He never liked the old plantation house, never liked the memories it had carried for him. She could have it and the land and turn the old slave quarters into kitschy bed and breakfasts, for all he cared. He loved her once. Thought he did, at least. Looking back on it, on their lack of a sex life and how Louis always had trouble being in the moment with her, being attracted to her… The dalliances he’d had behind her back. She deserved so much better than what he could give. If Lily needed to get rid of every part of him, even Claudia, to start over, he supposed he could forgive her that. Maybe after the years lessened the sting she’d want something to do with Claudia again. For now, he’d taken his daughter and left the country. Louis de Pointe du Lac sold off any remaining property of his, gave some of the money to his mother, sister and brother, and left with Claudia for France. He had more than enough left to set them up in a quaint countryside manor. His publisher was bothering him for another book, and he knew the change of scenery would help more than just lessening the sting of failure.

There is no coffee recipe for this chapter. I have had decaf all week because I made a mistake in buying it and I have in turn greatly suffered with my lack of caffeine intake.

I would like to thank those who gave me kindness in a time of grief. The reasoning for this chapter being late is partly due to the nature of it. There is grief here in chapter five, but I was able to take my own process and familiarly with it to showcase Lestat’s in a hopefully better manner.

This is part one of Lestat’s POV. The next chapter will continue it.
