If you think about "hunting styles" when it comes to Will and Hannibal, there are some notable differences. Hannibal hunts like a predator. Sits in the tall grass, observes for a long while and one day he decides to attack.
Will on the other hand, hunts the same way he fishes. He never attacks. He always lures people right into his arms. He lured Hannibal. He lured Freddie into his shed to make her part of the plan. He lured Chilton into getting himself fried. He lured Chiyoh into killing the prisoner.
This is definitely something to explore in the post twotl fics. Hannibal and Will learning about their differences when it comes to killing.

People straight up do not realize that part of the reason manufacturing is not returning to the United States in massive waves is because we have things like “OSHA” and “environmental laws” and “minimum wages.”
It’s not even just about fair wages. It’s literally about the fact that you can’t dump industrial waste in a river here anymore.
Our cheap goods are so cheap because South American and Asians environments are being destroyed so you can buy a $40 pair of shoes every 3 months.
Cutting granite countertops has lead to a rapid increase in silicosis in the lungs out in California. All the working men and women in my family have died from pulmonary fibrosis. They were carpet layers, Post office workers, floor tilers. Staying safe in manufacturing jobs is annoying but also very, very expensive. Real manufacturing factories belch smoke and dust and grime that causes asthma and birth defects in surrounding communities. Everyone wants their manufacturing jobs back until they realize their kids are living directly under the Asthma Plant.
There will come a time when the workers in these countries rise up and demand better and things will start to even out, but if you want to honestly “do your part,” you gotta stop buying cheap shit for no reason.
Not every event needs to be celebrate with a baseball cap or a coozie or a t shirt or a keychain. Not every wall in the house has to have a picture or a cute phrase on it. The knickknacks are killing people.

Love how tumblr has its own folk stories. Yeah the God of Arepo we’ve all heard the story and we all still cry about it. Yeah that one about the woman locked up for centuries finally getting free. That one about the witch who would marry anyone who could get her house key from her cat and it’s revealed she IS the cat after the narrator befriends the cat.

HELLO TUMBLR 👋 i am ENORMOUSLY excited to say: i've written a book! and i'm writing two more! and they're all queer romcoms! and the first one, FALL INTO YOU, will be out in JUNE. there is a LOT of my heart in this novel, and i absolutely can't wait to share it with you 💜
if you've ever enjoyed my fanfic, particularly stories like What We Pretend We Can't See and I've Got Nothing to Do Today But Smile, then you'll love FALL INTO YOU. it's full of ROMANCE and JOKES but also REAL, MESSY PEOPLE with PROBLEMS and TRAUMA, because those are the stories i love telling! it's chock full of things i adore: set on an APPLE FARM in NORTHEAST OHIO, main characters who hate each other more or less immediately, gratuitous depictions of food, and they were ROOMMATES?, people healing wounds they didn't even know were still open, AND MORE.
i'll be sharing more about this book in the weeks to come (i promise i will try so hard not to be obnoxious about it 🫡 ), and about the next two as we get closer to publication! but until then, i just want to say: the fic stays UP and the author stays GRATEFUL, always. i am honored and humbled by your readership, and really proud of the work i've done for and with fandom, and that's not a tune you're ever going to see me change.
okay, thanks so much for reading!! hope you're all well; i'll just be here having one of the coolest and most surreal days of my life 😂👋💜

i think this scene is so revealing of how armand abuses louis and how psychological abuse is so insidious w how it gets at the root of self-perception/esteem/worth. textbook negging. louis comes in and yes he's putting on a performance for the coven (that he thinks armand is in on with him, but it's so clear that everyone in there knows he's the one entirely unaware of what's happening, and they're visibly mocking him as he walks by), but when he enters there's this very real sense of him trying to connect w armand, trying to make this tenable (which is so underdiscussed, how much he really tries over and over again no matter how many times he's been burned, how he really just wants things to be better)
Tumblr media
he starts by discussing the art itself--its colors, the composition, he really likes it a lot and it brings him joy. look at how his hands gesticulate, the airiness in his voice, the use of "like" to offer subjectivity. then armand mocks the painting, compares it to vomit and gives classic backhanded insult of negging to demonstrate that he finds louis tasteless and finds his passion stupid, literally repulsive, literally vomit, and we see louis go inwards: "watch, i'll sell it for 5 times the price in a year--" an immediate shift away from emotion and his face hardening, his voice deepening, an instant realization/reminder that there is no use in sharing vulnerability w armand, that this vulnerability will only ever be used against him, which is why he went hard in the first place, went back to "i was real good at running things," to the role he played in new orleans when we first meet him, to the person who tells his family they left the theater before the curtains went up. you couldn't be vulnerable on liberty street. but even this armand mocks, look at the patronizing and exaggerated frown on his face, as if to say "so what?" and then sardonically "more wols?" as if to remind louis of the smallness of his desires, no better than vomit, that even just selling it would be ridiculous/worthless. and we're shown louis looking over his shoulder to signal that he sees armand's mocking:
Tumblr media
when louis next speaks, after that faint chuckle, aware that armand finds this humorous, that armand is mocking him, he doesn't use ANY personal pronouns. each sentence is a clause, sharp and short, and there are no verbs, only nouns, only objects. even the artists are used as object, wols mathieu soulages as representative of just the art vs the previous time when he attached personhood to wols with "if he keeps drinking." abstraction: dividend stocks w compound interest. when he says maybe a plane, armand takes this as an in, because it demonstrates a hint of personal desire again, something beyond abstraction, something that would belong to louis in a way that the sold art and real estate and stocks couldn't, something tangible as a result of louis' efforts. armand outright laughs at this point. "and who is going to fly your plane?" a reminder of louis' isolation, of his distance from life, from the world, that he is always lacking. when louis says "i'll fly it," he laughs again and uses the return to personal pronouns to make the most directly personal attack: the first vampire capitalist, the first vampire pilot. he's successfully alienated louis from his love of art in less than a minute by insulting that love, insulting his judgement and taste, belittling his plans, reminding him of his isolation, laughing at him, making sure that louis knows that the use of first isn't as an accolade, but as a second reminder of his isolation, that he is a failed vampire and a failed human. impossible not to harken back to him "joking" about how absurd it was that louis was a vampire with hobbies in dubai, and how it reveals that the negging is still going and is exactly the same.
i find it so interesting that fandom regurgitates the vampire capitalist thing uncritically bc it's such evidence of how... machiavellian armand's abuse is, and how successful psychological/emotional abuse can be because its insidiousness can make the abuse social, extend it to how others view the victim, have the backhanded insults be prescribed as inherent to the victim. when fandom talks about louis being an art dealer, there's the same detachment: his interest in art is entirely predatory, it gets compared to him being a brothel owner when he was human, as if the artwork and the artists are being exploited by louis, as if his only interest in art is in how he can capitalize off of it. but the show makes it so clear that this is not the case--armand is the one who calls him the vampire capitalist, and he does so while editing the script of louis' lynching that begins with a portrayal of louis as a bumbling aggressive pimp turned deceitful jezebel to sell the idea that he exploited lestat's love and sex, that he preyed on lestat with no regard for love or personhood, only objectification and a harmful abstraction that denied lestat's emotional and sexual "needs." in dubai, armand is the one facilitating the sale of the triptych--louis didn't even know "they" were selling it! and we learn this after watching him walk into the prison-bedroom, and when he expresses that small hint of confusion (though barely, because by dubai he is completely emotionally isolated/exhausted from/by armand) armand doesn't care that louis is confused and had no interest in selling it, which shows us that louis is the one still that has emotional connection to the art in the house, and that armand is the one who decides whether they can stay or go.
immediately after 206 i made this post, and while i still think the writers intend the viewer to think of marx's infamous vampire quote for this scene, i also took it for granted w/out the context of the lynching, so what the post misses, what the season fully reveals to us, is that this alienation is the version of louis that armand feeds louis over the course of louis' prison sentence. armand is the one who tells louis "he is only a dead thing and can create nothing anew. anything that comes of him, from him, must be bad." louis doesn't "accept" of his own free will that he is a cannot be trusted to know anything of life or goodness, this is the script of his lynching and the director literally feeding him his lines and determining what role he plays. we don't say that lestat exploited theater and opera bc he was a donor to an art that brought him joy, we don't say that armand only did the theater to get money from humans, and i'm just always so awed by how the show makes us contend with the social nature of emotional abuse and pushes the viewer to refuse both the descriptions and prescriptions that racism and abuse place on black ppl/victims of domestic violence and gbv/black victims. look at the shift of expression from when he first gets to the theater:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and then louis asks "why not?" but doesn't give armand the chance to respond, changes the conversation immediately before armand can mock him again. he turns his back to the painting. take off your clothes (*subs are wrong)--a command, a shift entirely away from louis' interiority and to the base, to maitre, to master, right?; face down in the coffin so i can fuck you--he doesn't want to see armand, he chooses the most detached sexual position, i to make himself subject instead of object, i can fuck to make himself the active subject, place both the verb and the capacity of the verb to him. but we know that's not true
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the red curtains pulled back, them in the center of the stage, louis in the dark and armand at the forefront of the performance. cut to santiago smirking with another white man in the coven, another cut to the script at the center of the frame regardless of whether you're looking out or in.

Idgaf if you don't want to write essays for school. I don't care if you don't want to write corporate emails yourself. I don't care if you can't draw well, I don't care if you can't write well, I don't care if you just really really want to talk to your favorite fictional character but don't want to RP with a real person because you have social anxiety or whatever
If you're still regularly using generative ai, chatgpt or midjourney or character.ai or literally whatever the fuck, im personally blaming you when my utility prices start going up.

“Imagine first a Soviet observer considering some of the events of American history: The United States, founded on principles of freedom and liberty, was the last major nation to end chattel slavery; many of its founding fathers — George Washington and Thomas Jefferson among them — were slave owners; and racism was legally protected for a century after the slaves were freed. The United States has systematically violated more than 300 treaties it signed guaranteeing some of the rights of the original inhabitants of the country. In 1899, two years before becoming President, Theodore Roosevelt, in a widely admired speech, advocated “righteous war” as the sole means of achieving “national greatness.” The United States invaded the Soviet Union in 1918 in an unsuccessful attempt to undo the Bolshevik Resolution. The United States invented nuclear weapons and was the first and only nation to explode them against civilian populations — killing hundreds of thousands of men, women, and children in the process. The United States had operational plans for the nuclear annihilation of the Soviet Union before there even was a Soviet nuclear weapon, and it has been the chief innovator in the continuing nuclear arms race. The many recent contradictions between theory and practice in the United States include the present [Reagan] Administration, in high moral dudgeon, warning its allies not to sell arms to terrorist Iran while secretly doing just that; conducting worldwide covert wars in the name of democracy while opposing effective economic sanctions against a South African regime in which the vast majority of citizens have no political rights at all; being outraged at Iranian mining of the Persian Gulf as a violation of international law, while it has itself mined Nicaraguan harbors and subsequently fled from the jurisdiction of the World Court; vilifying Libya for killing children and in retaliation killing children; and denouncing the treatment of minorities in the Soviet Union, while America has more young black men in jail than in college. This is not just a matter of meanspirited Soviet propaganda. Even people congenially disposed toward the United States may feel grave reservations about its real intentions, especially when Americans are reluctant to acknowledge the uncomfortable facts of their history”

thinking about this horrific story alongside that of Kelaia Turner, a 12 black child who attempted suicide at 12 yrs old after being relentlessly tormented by her racist classmates and teachers. after surviving the attempt, she was stalked and harassed by her bullies who took pictures of her whilst she was in a coma at the hospital, and now that she is conscious she is completely immobile, unable to speak, and requires constant care. white people are raising demon children and the world should burn several times over for these two little girls.

I agree with a lot of your points, but everyone has their interpretation of the show, and its not insane to argue that Lestat did not love her based on what is on screen as of the end of season 2.
He chokes her, imprisons her, and threatens to grind her bones into dust after Claudia had seen him beat Louis half to death. Lestat was violent toward her.
If the love isn't felt, does it actually exist? I don't think Claudia *feels* loved by Lestat. They also do not seem to have any sort of maker-fledgling bond as Marius and Armand or Lestat and Louis have. Hell, even Daniel seems to want Armand around for some reason.
Like Armand, Lestat saw Claudia as a doomed project (kid vampires go insane), and I don't think he ever extended any real effort into keeping her happy and alive. For me the tragedy is that Lestat saw her as valuable and worthy after ten years of desolate reflection when it was way too late to save her.
But a bigger point is does the audience see this love? Claudia talks about seeing the love they have for each other, the love Louis has for her, but never the love Lestat shows her. Is hunting with someone or going to the movies a sign of deep affection or is he just entertaining his partner's pet?
Louis and Lestat were bad parents, and their bullshit got Claudia killed. A couple of tears at the end isn't going to convince me that Lestat loved her.
Maybe my opinion changes in S3, but I am not seeing it in the first two seasons.
I can't wait for season 3 of IWTV to come out so that Lestat finally gets his point of view and confirms that he actually loved Claudia because damn, there are people who are narrow-minded on this subject.
They will probably remain so even after verbal confirmation from Lestat, but they will not be able to erase the canon at least.
Yes, there was a point where love turned to hate for both (because they are so alike), but the love surely never really stopped being there. The last look between them is proof of that. Claudia and Lestat who finally recognized themselves as father and daughter.
And Lestat who took the next 70 years to recover. Do you think he thinks about her every day since then out of simple regret ? For someone he didn't like ?! A little common sense...
This story with Claudia is essentially inspired by Anne Rice's own daughter with her and her partner who did a form of mourning for their daughter through this work which is an interview with a vampire.
The weight of mourning carried by Louis and Lestat would not really have the same impact if Lestat did not love Claudia and only had guilt linked to her.
Really it's ridiculous.
